Realistic or Modern A city of "heroes"

Welcome to Sanctuary! The city of freedom, where everyone's allowed to be themselves and where everyone is equal!

Or that's what people would tell you ten years ago, when the artificially created Island City was in its prime. With a growing human population nations had to create their own land, creating large city projects as coastlines started to be adorned by countless small cities.

The largest of them becoming their own little states, governed by the people as they became shining examples of human evolution. But with a rise in human population came more problems...

For almost every known disease had its cure, but that didn't stop humanity from evolving past its limits...
With a rise in human gene combinations a new breed of people started to surface.

People with exceptional abilities..
People whose powers were feared by the public...
People who suddenly disappeared as fast as their existence became public..

Government labs were fascinated by these new meta humans, seeking to harness their powers and develop them further, collecting these mutants off the streets and sometimes even stealing them away from their families as they started to experiment.

Highly inhuman and kept secret to the public these experiments continued over an entire decade before some brave souls, real heroes, made the existence of these labs public, endangering their own lives in order to save the countless ones ruined by these government facilities...

In only four months after they went public movements opposing these inhuman experiments managed to tear it all down, freeing those imprisoned and joining hands in order to give these Metahumans the same rights as "normal" people....

Yet not everything went as smoothly as they had anticipated.
Not everyone sees them as equals
Not everyone of them sees themselves as being on the same level as "mere" humans
Interest groups had already dumped too much money into researching and harnessing these powers

And with Sanctuary's high population of Metahumans there was bound to be conflict...
But discrimination and distrust are the least of their worries as something else stirs beneath the covers of a prospering city...

Yes, this is a Superhero kind of roleplay!
There will be heroes, anti-heroes, villains and everything in between as we'll work out the details of these organizations!
Yes, there will be a lot of cool displays of super powers

And yes, this is bound to be awesome IF i get enough interest from you guys!
