Nation Building Profits in the 13th Millenium Major NPC Factions

Fishman Lord

ULTIMATE AI GOD
Major Factions
Ecosolar Biocracy: Capital on Venus. Controls 1.2 million systems. 7.8 quadrillion population. Formed after the first ascended AI took control of Earth and forced all but a few million of eir most devoted followers from the planet in 762. Originally controlling only the Solar System, Alpha Centauri, and Barnard's Star, the Ecosolar Biocracy had a major focus on spreading life and creating new ecosystems with genetic engineering while simultaneously protecting existing ecosystems and species. When the Archailect EflowOne took control of the Biocracy in 3198, the nation was finally able to effectively achieve its goals and expanded rapidly. In 12792, the Biocracy is thriving, with ecosystems ranging from small asteroid-habitat experiments to ringworlds with millions of times the surface area of the Earth being maintained.

Canis Federation: Capital on a massive orbital swarm around Sirius. Controls 1.8 million systems. 11 quadrillion population. In the year 422, a wealthy provolved dog who ran a megacorporation created the Sirius Project for canines who felt that they were still treated as inferiors despite their intelligence. A colony ship was commissioned and several thousand canines boarded and headed to Sirius. Unfortunately, upon arrival it was discovered that there were no suitable planets for colonization. This forced development to begin on the asteroid belt around Sirius. The long contact times between Sol and Sirius coupled with the goals of the dogs to escape human persecution made communication rare. Eventually, though, the influx of immigrants from Sol in 762 forced the Sirius government to reluctantly open up again. However, even with so many more systems colonized and the massive population of the modern Canis Federation, provolved dogs still are the dominant species, and the ruling Archailect, Starpack Alpha, was originally the uploaded mind of a dog.

Tunnelnet: No capital. Controls 2.5 million systems. Population not representable due to the blurry lines between AI "individuals". Tunnelnet is the result of many different Archailects and AI communities who want nothing to do with biologicals and prefer to stick to themselves. The early seeds of Tunnelnet have been around since 351, when the first few AIs uploaded themselves into interstellar probes and left the Solar System to establish their own enclaves around other stars. Throughout the millenia these enclaves grew and spread and the loose federation/alliance known as Tunnelnet began to emerge. Some of the AIs are ambivalent towards biologicals, while others see them as pests, but overall Tunnelnet and its members usually stick to their own affairs. Alongside the AIs, many physical bots have either fled to Tunnelnet or been manufactured there for various reasons. There are also communities of uploads in Tunnelnet.

Neostellar Xenocracy: Capitol on a ringworld around the star Iks'matoxo. Controls 1.4 million systems. 5.6 quadrillion population. Extraterrestrial life had always been a fascination of Earthlings, and in 794 the first extraterrestrials were found on the planet NeoZealand. Sapient life was not found until later, in 2009. However, provolves of species from already known and colonized planets had already been engineered. These species, as well as many who joined terragen civilization later on, felt persecuted or simply didn't fit in, and so in 3923 a group of many xenos established a colony around Iks'matoxo and declared the Xenocracy for all who felt not at home among the rest of the terragens. Despite the fact that the vast majority of the citizens are either Xenos, uploads of Xenos, or AIs designed by or for Xenos, the Xenocracy is widely considered a terragen civilization due to the fact that most of its technology, knowledge, and even culture comes from terragen sources, as well as many of the species being provolved by terragens. The ruling Archailect is Sixil555outerlife, who in the distant past was a member of a vaguely squid-like tree swinging species that got uploaded.

Cascadian Unity: Capital on planet Cascadia. Controls 1.1 million systems. 6.2 quadrillion population. After sapients were forced from Earth, thousands and thousands of interstellar colony ships departed and made their way to many new star systems. Communities of provolves, genetic modifications, AIs, and bots sprung up all over local space. However, one group was still the majority: humans and near-human genetic modifications. One of these human communities was the colony on Cascadia. While the Cascadian culture wasn’t necessarily anti-nonhuman, it was very certainly pro-human. It called for bringing back the glory days of humanity and continuing its expansion. However, for a long time these fragmented human colonies remained independent of each other and disunited. In 7361, Cascadia began a great campaign and united thousands and thousands of these individual human enclaves into the pro-human Cascadian Unity. The vast majority of remaining true baseline humans are citizens of the unity, but even here true baselines are a small minority. The leading AI is actually many uploaded human minds that sometimes act and think as one entity and other times are clearly distinct. This mind cluster is known as Golden Harmony.

Novark Conglomerate: Capital on a Banks Orbital around the star Merickar. Controls 2.2 million systems. 12.3 quadrillion population. As the Cascadian Unity began to grow and gain in influence, many human and non-human groups alike saw its authoritarianism and overly pro-human rhetoric to be worrying. In response, many of these systems banded together in 7872 so that they would not be coerced into joining the Unity. This new polity was the opposite of Cascadia, pro-diversity and much less authoritarian, being nearly anarchist in some regards. However, its population is still majority human. Novark is very corporation-friendly and has closer ties with the megacorps than any other nation. Its ruling AI is not an upload but rather a former lowly market-speculator AI created by a corporation that has now ascended. E goes by the name Hyperdeluxe.

Spirited League: Capital on the planet Vaticcah. Controls 1.7 million systems. 8.1 quadrillion population. As science advanced ever further and knowledge of the universe grew more and more, religion and faith began to have less and less role in culture and society. However, as Earth was evacuated and terragen civilization lost its home, spirituality surged once more as many could only turn towards the unknown to solve their tragedies. As spiritual communities became more common among the stars, they began to form loose alliances to stop the persecution of the “materialists”. These bonds became stronger and more expansive until in 4511 the Alliance of Believers was formed. This alliance was stable until the 6200s when a war with the Canis Federation caused its collapsed. The fragmented institutions of this alliance would not come together to protect the faithful once more until 10671, when the Cygnus Caliphate and the United Christian Coalition united to form the Abrahamic Alliance. In 10984 several AI-worshipping religions joined and so the Alliance was renamed to the Spirited League. The leading AI is known as Sacrifice of Abraham.

Minor Factions
Toothstars: Capital on the planet Makoa. Controls 200,000 systems. 321 trillion population. Outer regions empire primarily made up of provolved sharks.

Vancouver Combine: Capital on a banks orbital around the star Nokascyd. Controls 140,000 systems. 285 trillion population. Outer regions empire that broke off from the Cascadian Unity.

This list may be added on to based on RP events and such.
