Description:


Extensive examination shows that the subject's respiratory system has undergone no physical changes, however, when exhaling her lungs secrete a highly toxic gas. This gas, for all intents and purposes, behaves exactly like CO₂ does, except when interacting with live cells. Upon contact, the gas will force apoptosis of the cell, making it fatal to any living organism it comes in contact with, with the organism's size being a direct factor in how quickly it dies. Microorganisms will perish immediately upon contact, while humans may survive several seconds, however death may take longer depending on the concentration of the gas in the environment. Organisms capable of breathing will die immediately upon inhaling the gas. Due to the subject's constant emission, a personal room with a specialized ventilation system has been constructed, which will liberate the gas in the atmosphere to reduce concentration. Estimates show that there will be no foreseeable deaths in the short term future due to the low concentration at which it would be present in the atmosphere, however, a treatment facility is currently being planned in order to maximize safety. Miasma theory is currently being revisited.

The subjects seems to be the only living being capable of surviving contact to the gas, however, long term exposure may cause hypercapnia. It is currently hypothesized that her body still treats it like normal carbon dioxide.

Personality:


Before the incident, Rocío was what one would call a workaholic about her studies. Stress was something she was used to, which was both given and relived by her time in university. This isn't just due to her natural hard-working tendencies, but also because of her anxious and somewhat obsessive personality. She generally overthinks in most situations and has paranoid streaks, mostly over meaningless things. After the incident, however, she has fallen into a depressive state, both due to having witnessed the devastation of a city as well as her current condition making human interactions difficult.


Background:


Rocío devoted herself extensively to her studies. Her personal relationships, while existent, were confined mostly in the campus. Neurology was her passion, and it showed both in her time in the university and in her work ethic in her internships. She barely survived the devastation of the city, and when being recovered, she directly caused the death of two Pandora members before they could secure her without direct exposure.
