OOC

that'd be fine by me. i can change the last part of my post if that's what you wanna do instead?

No, no, there's no need. The way I see it, Etaine's and Hawren's entrance would have produced an unexpected interruption, causing the altercation to stop right then and there. You know that scene that often happens when I guy walks in on a girl when she's changing in anime, and they both just sort of stare at each other for a while? Probably the same thing has just happened here. xD

Hey, is Kiowa still going to be in the RP?

probably not.
Looks like Kiowa is facing some certain difficulties, and is unable to participate. The character will be held inactive, as I wait for her possible return. Do not worry, we will still push through.
and from kiowa's profile, they say they don't have any intention on returning to rpn for awhile.

hey, sorry for the wait everyone but I've been super busy. I promise I will get a post up tomorrow for sure, it's lookin' a lot less hectic for me. :3

I will post when I can but my life is getting super busy and I don't have as much energy for rping as I thought I'd have. Definitely will post by the end of the week. I'm just glad I'm not the only one being waited on xD

So... should we be worried, yet?

My deepest apologies. I've been sick the past days (still am, but it's quite tolerable for now). I will do a GM post soon to move us forward.

707 is also going on a hiatus, so our numbers have dwindled. JRPG seems to inactive as well.

No matter. We continue, and go as far as we can until the need for more players arises. Or, I could launch another interest check to hopefully catch new players after the prologue, since it will be a rather short chapter.

What are your thoughts? EredtOgon EredtOgon Rustic Rustic DergTheDergon DergTheDergon

You mean to continue on with just the three of us? That seems like it would work well. Smaller numbers would actually help keep things moving quickly, and would favor our chances of completing the quest. Besides, between myself, rustic, and derg, we have a healer, a warrior, and a ranged/rogue-ish type, yes? This might actually turn out to be a very good thing to have happened. :D

Oh, by the way, I read both of your posts, Rustic Rustic and DergTheDergon DergTheDergon . I enjoy both of your writing styles. :D

Ah! And I'm sorry to hear that about the whole being sick thing, Reinhardt Reinhardt ! My apologies. Thank you for hanging in there, though. I'm grateful for the hard work you put into this thing. I hope you feel better soon!

oh, thank you! i feel the same way about yours, too!
and derg's, but if they don't already know how much i enjoy their writing and their presence, consider me ashamed!

i'd think i'd like to see one or two more join us after the prologue.

having just the three of us would make things go along faster/more reliably, but i really like the dynamics of bigger groups in roleplay and fiction in general, especially when the characters are a ragtag group like this one. it'd also just help to make me more comfortable, but why is sort of personal.

however, i'd be okay either way. you seem like a rather reliable GM, Reinhardt Reinhardt , and i'm eager to see where you'll take us!

Aww, thank you EredtOgon EredtOgon ! I certainly try to write well lol. Your post was good as well. And I saw your shrunk text lol Rustic Rustic , I enjoy your writing just as much, which i believe I have also made clear. ^.^

Sorry for the delay on this reply, rather busy lately. Anyway, I honestly am fine with either way Reinhardt Reinhardt . Both Rustic and Peter bring up very good points. Get well soon, Reiny! ^.^

So we would basically continue onward, but also post an "additional players wanted" sign somewhere? Sounds like a good idea to me. Take your time getting better, Reinhardt. A healthy GM is a hearty GM! :)

I am thinking whether or not to go through with the former desired schedule we had, which is to have 2-3 posts every week, in order to move the plot faster than usual. Of course, now that our numbers have dwindled, we can easily make up for the lost time through heavy, yet somewhat delayed posts.

So, what do you guys think? Should we go with the 2-3 posts a week? Or just continue with our own pace? I don't want to force you to post, it only makes it a chore, instead of a memorable experience.

On the other hand, I have launched the interest check. That's a check off the ever-growing to-do list.

i'd be fine with and likely able to keep up with a stricter post time frame, but i'm also fine with the current outlook. i don't think the time limit would speed me up or trim my posts down much, though; what i'm doing now is generally what i skew towards in general.

I'm actually currently healing from eyestrain which I've acquired due to my work. My posts will likely get much longer as my eyes heal, but until then, I would greatly prefer simply moving at our own pace, at least at first. As time goes on, I'll likely end up averaging 1000 word per post, though. :D

:edit:

Also, lol, damn, Rustic! Hawren certainly seems eager! xD

Well done everybody! The next GM post shall initially our first test on the system. If you desire to put in some responses, please do so as soon as you can.

I shall begin working on the post, and hopefully it would be finished and up soon.

Question: When you say "put in some responses", do you mean additional In Character posts within the IC thread? I was under the impression that we were allowed only one post per round? Also, how much leeway do the player characters have with interacting with the environment? Could we, for example, discover and/or have knowledge of the local environs? What about creating NPCs for the group to use?

Yes, that I do. You are limited in posting, however, not in the manner of 1 post/round, rather, in the form of "excessive posting" - as to not hog the RP for the other players. This way, you can submit a fair number of posts to carefully, yet effectively establish character, and even world development, without turning the RP into an extremely hard-to-follow story, or worse, a 1x1.

Also, how much leeway do the player characters have with interacting with the environment? Could we, for example, discover and/or have knowledge of the local environs? What about creating NPCs for the group to use?

I assumed that you were already informed about a lot of stuff, but it has come to my realization that I did lack in various areas, such as this. My apologies for that.

You are able to create as much content as you can, provided it does not stray far from the world and the story's theme and atmosphere. Common fantasy creatures are a given, and should you desire to create more significant historical lore, creatures, etc., you should first discuss it with the GM, as to make sure that it would not get out of hand.

For the NPCs, you can create as many as you can provided that they are not able to be used in combat along with your characters (unless stated otherwise by the GM), and make it so that they are not that detrimental to the plot. Remember, NPCs are made to ease the flow of the story, and the development of the characters, and the setting.

Oh! Ok. That makes a lot of sense, then. In that case, I will likely have one more post up around 4 O'clock-ish Central time. if you get a GM post up before then, however, then I won't pursue the post, but will just go along with whatever the GM post brings out. Also, it's good to know the extent to which our characters can interact with the environment and create NPCs, etc.

One last thing. Since the discord chatroom has officially become open to rpnation members, I was thinking it might be kind of cool for the big bad or whatever we end up facing to re-animate an ancient piece of technology at some point in the quest. The technology in question being, basically, "Nightbot" the RPnation discord server admin. Thoughts on this? Basically, it would be a "Nightbot Beatdown" miniquest, lol. xD

:edit:

Oh! And DergTheDergon DergTheDergon , I was wondering if maybe there could be some bad blood between Etaine and lizard medians? I'm thinking that perhaps she underwent some trauma related to medians when she was a young child. Maybe she ran into a family that had been massacred out of a median out of revenge for some atrocity committed, and stumbled onto the situation at the wrong time, such that she was almost killed. I'll probably flesh out the details later, but I wanted to see what you thought about this, first.

Basically, Etainne will have to overcome a natural fear before she can get close to Sai, etc. Thoughts?
