Arabella Manriquez

Arabella smiled a little bit at her compliment. "Well thank you. Its not common to get some compliments about my pregnancy. I appreciate it."she told the girl. And it was the truth. She was quite shocked that she actually complimented her in it, instead of insult her about being too young for a baby. She looked at the books that she had recommended and smiled. "If possible, I would like to check out both books please. And to answer your question, I am actually 4 months pregnant. Almost there, so I am pretty excited about it,"she added rubbing her stomach a little bit as she flipped through the books. Sometimes she skimmed through the what looked like the most important information. After a few minutes, she slid it back to her allowing her to check them out in her name. When Lucy offered her brother to take her throughout the town, she thought about it for a moment. She didn't know if she wanted someone unknown to show her around, but she did promise herself and her roommate that she would socialize more.

"Hmm..if he does have time to, then I wouldn't mind a small tour. But I wouldn't want to  be a burden to him.  Having to deal with a pregnant women isn't exactly the most exciting and easiest thing in the world." she explained, smiling a little bit. Arabella started feeling a little cold, so she pulled the thin black sweater around her body and folded her arms across her chest to keep the sweater from moving back to her sides. "But thank you for the offerings. Its a sweet gesture."she told her. "Im not really used to all these compliments and offerings. Lets just say that were I came from, its a little bit on the hardcore side." she added and sighed a little at the thought of it. You would expect your parents to be a least a little bit accepting, she thought to herself and shook her head a little bit.

Eilise felt relieved to hear the cashier’s words, glad that she would still receive shelter from the summer rain. “Of course, of course. I’ll just keep her over there,” Eli nodded towards an empty corner of the cafe. She muttered a series of thank yous as she took the bag from the boy and stuffed her dirty jacket inside. As she wrapped Jenny’s leash around her palm, she suddenly remembered that she hadn’t fully completed her order thanks to the furry interruption. “Oh! Can I get a size medium for my hot chocolate please? The whip cream and chocolate drizzle sounds great as well, if you could,” she muttered as politely as she could, her words feeling slightly awkward in her mouth. You’re overthinking it, Eli. You already started the order, it would be more rude not to finish it.

“She’s very cute, is she yours?” Eli heard the young man ask, a small smile on his face.

“Thank you,” Eli grinned, gently coaxing Jenny over to her picked corner. “But no, she’s not mine. She belongs to a friend of mine, actually. I should probably give him a call to let him know that she’s here with me.” As she spoke, she had already began to pull out her phone and scroll through her list of numbers. Being listed under the A’s, it didn’t take Eli long to find Alex’s name.

She held the phone to her ear, awaiting Alex’s familiar tone on the other end. But when the ringtone turned to a voicemail, she hung up. “Huh, he didn’t answer,” she announced out loud. She tried to call him three more times, but it was to no avail. A thoughtful frown began to form as Eli thought the situation over. She could always take Jenny back home with her, but Eli wasn’t sure if Jenny was used to cats. She could try to lead Jenny back to Alex’s place herself, but she could remember the directions to get there too well. Based on the leash, Alex was possibly somewhere in town, but the prospect of trying finding him in the current weather didn’t sound very pleasant.

Unable to formulate a plan, Eilise instead decided to give herself a timelimit. She had until she could finish her hot chocolate and croissant to decide. “How much will my order cost?” she asked the cashier, pulling out her wallet as she did so. Luckily, waiting had been the perfect decision, as a familiar face entered the coffee shop. Before Eli could even manage a greeting, Jenny had rushed toward Alex’s side, nearly dragging Eli along in her excitement had the girl not managed to unwind the leash from her wrist in time. “Alex! There you are,” Eilise greeted after she had caught her breath. “I must smell like food or something, I guess,” the girl joked weakly. “It’s a good thing you’re here though. Jenny just bolted in out of nowhere. For a second, I thought maybe you’d fallen in a well and she was trying to play the part of Lassie.”[/SIZE]

Edel felt a slight prickle of worry as her eyes met with the cashier’s. It felt pretty clear to her that he didn’t seem to be in a good mood, and part of her feared that would lead to unnecessary conflict. But the small hand squeezing against her own reminded her to keep her smile upon her face and remain confident. So long as Angel was beside her, she needed to act strong and kind. It was her job to protect him, even from bad days.

“Thank you,” Edelmira called prematurely as the young man left in search of the desired movie.

When Angel say the man making his return, he tugged shyly on his mother’s hand. “Did he find it Mama?” he whispered timidly.

“I don’t know Angel. You’ll have to ask him, not me,” Edel answered gently, which only caused the small boy to frown softly. He was a rather playful and talkative boy, but he always became a bit shy and withdrawn around strangers. He felt much too nervous to voice his question to the cashier, and instead preferred to sneak a peek of the counter for his answer.

"Will that be all for you today? And would you like some candy?" The cashier asked, his demeanor taking a sudden change as he began to seem a bit more happy and approachable.

“Candy?” Angel exclaimed in a voice somewhere between a loud whisper and a quiet shout.

“I see you know the magic words,” Edel laughed softly. “Go ahead Angel.”

“Thank you!” The small boy cheered as he peered into the bowl. He picked out two pieces of candy, then after a moment of quiet contemplation he picked out a third. After inspecting his three pieces of candy, he slipped one into Edel’s hand and one onto the counter. "One for you, one for you, and one for me," he sang with a small giggle. He flashed a beaming grin toward the cashier, then explained, “Mama likes it when I share.”

Angel certainly wasn’t wrong either, as it was impossible for Edel to hide her joy whenever her son did something good. With the toxic influence of his grandparents constantly around, she was always worried about her ability to ward away their negativity and instill good values in him. “That should be all. Thank you,” Edel paused in search of a name tag, “Seth.” She pulled out her wallet in preparation to pay, when another thought occurred to her. “Do you sell movies here as well, or only rentals?” She would have to wait until another time, but if they did sell as well as rent then it was possible she may have found the place to buy Angel’s birthday present.

"Knowing my brother, he's probably doing nothing." She said jokingly as she reached for her phone and dialed her brother's number. She got the dial tone. "Damn, he must have forgotten his phone at the apartment." She said looking at Arabella. "Well, unfortunately, my brother forgot his phone at his apartment... But I know he wouldn't have any problem with giving someone as beautiful as you a small tour." She said being a little flirty. Lucy loved helping people, especially new people. It made her feel so happy and cheerful when someone new walked into her shop. The last person that did that, she ended giving him a tour and then some. When she asked about the books. Lucy looked at her for a second. "I don't see any problem with you checking them out." She said as she began to ring out the books.

She noticed when Arabella pulled the sweater a little tighter. "Well, Miss, here and where you're from are two different places. A lot of the people around here are really nice." She said putting the books in a small bag. "Some might even go out of their way to help out someone as breathtakingly gorgeous as you." She said, giving her another flirtatious comment. She started to feel the cold chill come into the back counter area. She didn't have a sweater on but she did have a long sleeve shirt on. She was still cold. "Now Miss that'll be xx.xx. How would you like to pay for these?" She asked.

A couple other people walked in and Drogo went to go and meet them. They were a couple of regulars, so Drogo instantly knew them and went over and nuzzled their hands. He wanted to have them pet him, which they did. After, he went over to Arabella and brushed up against her leg. He wanted her to pet him. His fur was soft, and he was a good dog, he wouldn't hurt anyone.

"huh, I think Jenny here would try and pull me out before she goes and gets anyone else." He said jokingly. "She likes to think she's as big as a mastiff." He said as Jenny began to lick his face as much as possible. "Ok, Jen.... Yes I know.... I'm alright.... Ok..." He said as the dog began to hold off a little bit. "You scared me... I thought you had run off into traffic." He said shaming the dog only a little bit. He finally stood up with Jenny in his arms.

He looked around, it was the coffee shop that he would normally go to in the morning for him and his sister's coffee. He didn't know the barista, but he also came in the morning so this guy might not be in, in the morning. "Eli, I'm gonna have to make this up to you some way, somehow..." He said as Jenny rested her head on Alex's chest. "Maybe I could make it up to you this weekend? Say Saturday at 5ish?" He asked.

Angelica Manriquez

Angelica chuckled at her statement. When she said that her brother didn't pick up, she shook her head a little bit. "Thats alright. Im not demanding a tour right now. I actually need to head out with my roommate this afternoon. She is taking me to go shopping for baby clothes." she explained. Angelica did think that it was a little bit too early to buy such items, but she knew her friend. Mariah was always quick to buy things when she had an excuse for it. "Your brother can give me a tour whenever he has the time to."she added. Angelica felt a slight blush when she heard the girl's flirty comments. "Well..it takes a pretty lady to know a pretty lady."she replied smiling a bit. She didn't know why she felt the need to flirt back, but she did.

Taking out her wallet from her back pocket, she grabbed a few dollars along with a twenty. "Hoping you take cash since its really all I have right now. Checkbook is at home."she replied handing her the money. When Angelica felt a light shove at her leg, she looked down and smiled. Bending down a bit, she pet the top of its had and gradually made her way down to the middle of its back. "You have such a sweet pet. Me and my roommate were thinking about getting a dog. "she said smiling. She slowly straightened up when she felt an ache at the small of her back.Which was normal for her.

“Of course!”
As Blaine turned around to get started on the girl’s hot chocolate, medium with whipped cream and chocolate drizzle, his mouth practically watered. He heard the bell ringing again. Blaine glanced back to let them just enough to show that he noticed he was there.

”Welcome! I’ll get to you in a moment, thank you for waiting!” He said brightly, but they were more occupied with the red-head and the dog.

Blaine was only grateful there was no one else in line or he was sure there’d be complaints. The dog seemed excited to see who Blaine had to assume was the owner by this point. He finished up what he was doing, covering the hot chocolate and placing the croissant on a small paper plate. “It’ll be $4.23.” He said smiling at the girl before turning his attention the the man. “Thank you for being patient, how can I help you?” He asked. “Oh! You were here earlier weren’t you?” He said, smiling brightly “Welcome back!”

When Dante didn’t receive a text back he sighed, finishing up his cigarette and going back into the shop. He checked the time, still wanting to get lunch, but deciding it was best to wait as there were people outside of the door, attempting to pull it open.

Dante unlocked the door “Sorry about that.” he muttered, clearly smelling of fresh cigarettes as a few young teenagers stumbled inside to get dry, hopefully buy something. He absently searched through his iPod, not feeling the upbeat pop music that had been playing, instead searching for something to better fit the weather outside, something less happy, but with enough of a beat to keep him awake.

Dante was growing bored, none of his other regulars had come in, and the teenagers had zero interest in asking him about anything. He sat in the chair behind the counter, glancing over at one of the guitars that was back there. They were used for students when Frank was holding lessons. He picked one up, tuning it up a bit before strumming a few chords absently. Maybe he’d just go for lunch on his own, he was pretty hungry after all.

Dante put the guitar down, standing up and stretching. Watching the two teenagers carefully as they walked up to the counter a couple of CDs in their hands. He rang them up and put the CDs in bags before waving them off. He put up an ‘out for lunch’ sign before locking the building up before heading out to get something quick to eat.

Cole had a brief text-spoken conversation with the girl before going off to get the sandwich he desperately needed. His hoodie was officially soaked through, though luckily his shirt underneath was still mostly dry, leaving only his arms, bags, and face wet. He stopped in the corner store, ordering his sandwich, glad to be in a dry place as he waited for his food. The smell of bacon cooking wafted through the air, easily the most identifiable smell.

He had also ordered a coffee and stood there sipping it absently, thumbing through some of the emails his boss had sent, deleting the ones for the clients whose wedding it had been the night before. All he had to do was send the photos to the couple, glad this month was almost over. June was one of the big wedding months, and even though there were a few other photographers in the company, it was still small enough to keep each and everyone of them very busy. He sighed, blowing some of his hair away from his face, only for it to flutter back to where it was.

Alice nodded as Julius spoke, “Well at least one of you doesn’t mind it.” She bent down and put her hand out in the hopes of getting Wolf to come over so she could say hello to him properly, but he was completely uninterested. “Maybe there’s food in there?” She said shrugging slightly, standing back up.

“I’ve been ok I, nothing new at least… You?” She added after a slight pause. Alice’s eyes followed Julius’ in to the store they were standing in front of. She didn’t quite recognize any of the faces inside, however. It was one of the two book stores on the street, though Alice often preferred the dusty tombs in the library (and the fact that they were free went a long way). But she was sure she had been in there once or twice before, the people inside were unrecognizable to her, but then again she wasn’t well aware of a lot of people in Asteria.

Seth Larsa

Seth kept his eyes on the floor and pretended not to hear the boy talking to his mother. He found himself hiding a smile at the boy's adorable innocence. He quickly had to remind himself that he was in a bad mood, though. After all, if one small boy could make his day....well, something was probably wrong with him, then.
"No problem, kid."
Seth said when the boy took some of the candy. He put the bowl back under the counter, eyes widening slightly when he saw that a piece of candy had been placed on the counter for him.
"Um, thanks junior, but I'm okay."
Seth smiled hesitantly and carefully pushed the candy back towards the boy. He didn't want to offend the little guy, but at the same time, he just felt a little weird about taking candy from a kid. Well, he wouldn't be taking it, but it still seemed wrong. He gave the mother a tense smile, drumming his fingers on the counter uncomfortably.
"No problem. And yeah, that wall is everything we have for sale. You also get a discount if you rent a movie at the same time."
He explained, motioning to the far wall to his left. There was a yellow and green sign that read 'for sale' over several shelves. He finished ringing up their chosen movie.
"Your total is $1.95, if that's all?"
He said, glancing across the counter at her with a questioning look. He didn't want to rush her, but for some reason, the mother-son duo were making him unusually uncomfortable. He was sure it had nothing to do with his own childish longing for an actual relationship with his own mother. Yeah....nothing at all to do with that.

Julius Heath Milano

Julius shrugged, his shoulders moving up and down lightly. There could be food in there, but it was more likely a small moving insect that asked up all the attention from Wolf. Even though Julius often understood Wolf some actions and manners were still incomprehensible. "Who knows." Julius replied. Julius faced Alice again when she started to speak, anwsering his questions about how things were currently. He was wondering what his purpose was with that question since there wasn't a chance she would anwser in full detail. It was just the basic chit chat about nothing question, but it felt right to ask. “I’ve been ok I, nothing new at least… You?” was her reply. With a small smile and a nod he made clear that he was glad things were alright. 'ok' didn't seem to be too good though, but he didn't feel like he had the right to question it. "Good to hear that. same here honestly. I was hoping for a nice jog in the sun today but that didn't happen" Julius replied as he crossed his arms for no reason. God dude, stop acting so weird he thought by himself before he glanced one last time into the bookstore.

"I notice most small dogs tend to believe they're bigger than they actually are," Eilise replied thoughtfully with a small, pensive frown. She rubbed her wrist gently before deftly pressing it against the coldness of her bag as she returned to the front counter. "$4.23, you said?" The girl repeated back as she pulled out a small bill and handed it to the young man. "Thank you very much," she hummed eagerly as she took her order. The smell of the bread alone felt like a delight to her, but added with the hot chocolate she felt her mind tingling with inspiration. Hopefully the Happiness Chocolate would be worth her getting drenched and stranded, because she had some ideas in mind for it already.

Eli was just beginning to cool off her hot beverage with gentle breaths when she turned her attention back toward her friend. "Eli, I'm gonna have to make this up to you some way, somehow... Maybe I could make it up to you this weekend? Say Saturday at 5ish?"

"Hmm?" Eilise paused in between her breaths. "Oh, no, it's okay. It's sort of my job now, anyway. Taking care of animals, I mean." she answered with her usual smile. She migrated herself around the corner of the counter, so as to not block the register for any more customers, and took a tentative sip of her hot chocolate. "Mmm! This is delicious! My compliments to the chef," she laughed and flash a shy but playful grin toward her blonde haired barista.

"My name's not Junior," Angel giggled. "I'm Angel." He was only briefly disappointed in his candy's rejection for a small second, but then he remembered that the man had a whole stash of candy hidden behind the counter. Maybe the man couldn't eat candy unless he was away from the cameras, even, or else he could get in trouble. So Angel quiet took the candy back and placed it in his pockets, his blue eyes flickering briefly towards the nearest camera in the corner.

"No problem. And yeah, that wall is everything we have for sale. You also get a discount if you rent a movie at the same time."

"Oh really?" Edelmira responded as she glanced over toward the very wall Seth had mentioned. "Well that's very handy information to know. Thank you." She stared pensively at the wall for a sparse moment, her gaze trying to quickly spot anything that might be of interest, before she turned back to the register. "This should do just fine for me today, thank you," Edel answered as she pulled out two small bills and placed them down upon the counter.

Lucy smiled when the woman continued to flirt. She wasn't a very flirty girl, but she did enjoy it from time to time. Plus she couldn't explain it but there was something about this girl. Something that felt a little different about her. She smiled when she talked about Drogo. "Well, Drogo has an excellent choice when it comes to people... Women in particular..." Lucy said smiling at Drogo who now had a look of bliss on his face when she scratched his back. "I guess it's just something he picked up from me..." She said with a smile on her face.

Lucy nodded and took the money that Angelica had given her. "Thank you, Ma'am...." She said opening the cash register with the familiar ding. "And here is your change." She said handing her a handful of change.A receipt began to print and she grabbed it and ripped it off. She scribbled her number right below the total amount. She then took the receipt and handed it to Angelica. "... And here's your receipt Ma'am... I hope you have a day as beautiful as you." She said giving her flirtatious smile.

Alex looked at the Barista. It was the same one that served him that morning. Both of the coffees that morning. "Ah yes. I have returned. Oh, amazing coffee by the way. I might come back tomorrow while on duty." He said remembering that he was going to be getting back in uniform the next day. Alex was a police officer. One of the stipulations of having his buy the apartment building he lives in is he has to find a steady good job.

When Eli turned him down that weekend, all Alex could do was smile. "Well, you can't blame a guy for trying." The truth of the matter was that Alex did think Eli was a very pretty woman, but she and he had been friends for a while and he really liked her as a friend. Besides, it wouldn't be like the both of them would work out anyway. Alex can be pretty abrasive at times and has a very big tendency to say what he is thinking.

Nejilika shrugged. "S'okay. How sure are you they're not just going to take their heaps of junk the moment you finish working on them?" They rolled their eyes at Erin's oh-so modest claim. "Sure you can. Don't worry, I believe in you."

Erin grinned. "I'm glad you do! Some people don't appreciate what I do. And I just know they'll pay up, my gut tells me so." She finished her muffin and took a sip of coffee. Coffee is always good. Maybe even the best thing in the world, considering all the all-nighters she pulled. Speaking of all-nighters, she estimated maybe 3 weeks of working on the motorcycles, give or take. She grimaced. Geez, she thought. And all those part replacements... Erin quickly downed her coffee and put it back down on the table. "Thanks again for the breakfast, Nej." She flashed them another grateful smile before getting back to business. If she actually managed to pull this off, she'd be paid big and get some recognition.

Erin crouched once more and began disassembling the first motorbike. She started with removing the rust-covered covers so she could easily access the also rust-covered internal parts and engine. Huh, it's a modified one. Riders don't usually modify their vehicles unless they want to repair it or improve their performance. Crap, expenses just went a lot higher. she groaned.

(Erin's going to be working on the motorcycles for a few more hours.)

"Yep, that's correct." He said smiling at the red-head, taking the bill and handing back her change as he closed the register. He heard the guy with the dog compliment the coffee from earlier. "Oh, thanks!" He said smiling at the man, partially a bit annoyed he wasn't even offering to buy something to make up for letting his dog wait here, but partially glad he'd have a bit of a break between customers. "Well I'm sure I'll see you tomorrow then." He said politely.

Blaine decided now would be the best time to make his own hot chocolate, opting for a large one, making it much the same way he had made the girl's, though with perhaps more syrup and caramel than he would have used for a customer.

"I'm glad you like it! Hopefully mine will be just as good." He said, letting out a small laugh.

He scribbled the price down on a piece of scrap paper and tucked it under the register drawer so he knew what he had to pay later. Once his hot chocolate was done he took a sip, the blast of sugar and hit his taste buds. He had been told more than once he liked an obscene amount of sugar, and Blaine could understand where the concern came from, but it was just so good.

Blaine couldn't help but find it a bit funny that the dog owner's date had been turned down, though he was careful not to let any of that show.

He put his drink down to do a quick clean o the counter and machines a bit, just so they looked neat, he'd clean them more thoroughly later. However he couldn't help but notice the both of them were still standing there. He could understand the red-head, she had just ordered something and probably wanted to enjoy in the cafe, (though why she was still by the counter was another question), but the guy with the dog hadn't even bought anything.

Maybe he was considering getting something? Or maybe they were just trying to keep out of the way? Then why doesn't he leave. Blaine kept his usual smile on his face, leaning against the counter and drinking his hot chocolate, cup almost too big for his hands as he sipped on it, glad for the sugar and warmth.

Growing increasingly bored waiting for his sandwich, which seemed to be taking far longer than normal, even though there wasn't many others in the store, Cole moved towards his text messages.

Again, some stuff from his boss, a couple of short videos of a very drunk person at a wedding sent to him by one of the videographers. It was of a bridesmaid who was attempting to use a chocolate fountain only to practically fall in it. Mean? Yes, but Cole couldn't help but laugh.

Cole was ecstatic when his sandwich was finally done. He paid the cashier, thanking him, before pushing the door open and once again walking out into the miserable rain, still looking through messages. He spotted an unread message from Ray, a very attractive, but awful human being whom Cole had befriended pretty recently. He knew exactly what the message, or rather image, was going to be, but he opened it anyway, rolling his eyes. Yep, exactly right, a well tanned, shirtless torso. He sighed, though an amused smirk played on his face. But then confusion washed over as he looked at the rain pouring down around him.

You actually went to the beach today?

He was completely flabbergasted, then again Cole was quite sure that even if it had been nice out he wouldn't have gone to the beach today, especially since he liked it best at around sunrise. He tucked his phone into his pocket, planning on just going back home, hoping his sandwich wasn't soggy by the time he got there.

Alice looked up at the sky, eyes narrowed against the rain. "No, I imagine it didn't, it's been raining all day." She agreed, adjusting the bags in her hand, having almost forgotten about it. "It could be worse, I suppose. I find it harder to walk in the snow." she said with a slight shrug, trying to make conversation. She was not very good at it though. She tried, but Alice knew this was uninteresting.

She watched Julius for a minute, trying to think of something to say but unable to come up with anything. "So..." She said, berating herself for not being able to hold up even a simple conversation. At least I'm trying? Which was fine she supposed.
