Robotech: UEEF Saga

[Did I manage to dodge?]

Following the example of Serena, Miu will take aim with her gun pod as well, trying to hit the eye piece of one of the troopers - hoping that the red lights won't flash once again, forcing her to disembark to do something during this fight.

OOC Yes, I just forgot to add that. Thank you for checking.

The GU-11 goes off without a hitch, sending a spray of heavy shells out and into the eyepiece of Shock Trooper 6.

Orikanyo Orikanyo is up now

Serena [4]
Miu [4]
Jackie [2] <====
Dana [4]
Shock Troopers 7-8 [3]

"last duo, get on em!" Jackie rose his own gunpod and lined up a shot on the eye of the second last shocktrooper (7) and fired upon it.

Under the aimed fire of Jackie and Dana, the last two Shock Troopers fall.

Moving out of combat time.

A quick check on the radio shows that the pilots of the three Shadow Alphas that were ripped apart are still alive and safe, hiding in their mecha until it was safe for them to pop the hatch and get into their emergency Cyclones to continue the battle.

Dana then goes up and takes ahold of one of the EU-13's that had fallen out of the grasp of one of the Alphas and takes aim at the dome force field. "Lets give this Destabilizer a try." She then fires off a burst into the shield, causing a twelve by ten hole to open up. Obviously, it will take a few shots to make an opening large enough for your Armored Valkyries to get through. "Well I'll be damned. It worked. Hey guys, give me a hand to open this shield up."

"On it!" Jackie replied as he took up his own destabilize to fire upon the forcefield.

"How's the weather outside there folks, cold enough for yea?" Jackie buzzed to the alpha pilots. "Little bit nippy out there eh? Did yea remember to grab yer mittens on the way out?"

The pilots of the destroyed Shadow Alphas give Jackie a friendly wave, one with just his middle finger extended, as they unload the Cyclones from the emergency storage bay. The bulk of the comments they give are not fit for printing. But, at least they are still alive and well.

With the Destabilizers in hand and the GU-11's set aside, the combined fire is able to open up the force field wide enough for several mecha to enter at once. Dana sends out the signal that the shield has been breeched, and that Crimson Squad is moving in. Several acknowledgements come over the radio, and you can see multiple Destroids come thundering up the slope of the mountain, along with several dozen Cyclones. More surprisingly, you can also see more than forty Bear Men with their heavy rifles and armor running alongside the Cyclones. The natives of the system are absolutely huge. At first glance, you thought they were more Cyclones, but a second look tells the truth about the Karbarrans; they are just really big. Too big to fit in the tight cockpit of a Veritech, that is damn sure.

Farther up the slope of the mountain, more Invid are pouring out of the hive, and one of the NCOs of the ground forces radios you. "Sirs, you have done a great deal of work getting us here, but that hive is locked up tight. Fortunately, my squad here has a key. If you would kindly step to the side, we can work some magic for you."

Six heavy mecha; three Tomahawks, one Defender, one Gladiator and a Phalanx push their way forward. Several Protoculture Lures are fired up the slope, drawing the Invid in close, before the Phalanx opens up with a spread of twenty long range missiles as the other mecha fire their smaller warheads up to fill in the gaps of the larger salvo. The overlapping explosions shatter both the Inorganics and the biological Invid units indiscriminately.

At this point, the Cyclones are advancing with the Bear Men alongside.

Serena watches as the heavy mecha blast the Invid resistance to bits. "Talk about bringing the thunder! Wow. That clears out the bulk of the slugs, but there will be more in the hive itself. Those Cyclones might need some heavy backup from us. I say we go in and take this place apart from the inside out!"

For once, Haydonitean technology proves itself useful, although only after it's picked up from the smoking remains of the former carriers. At least, the pilots are unscathed, if their hand gestures and extensive use of rather creative swearwords is any indication. A faint smile reaches Miu's lips in view of this childishness in the midst of war, and it does not vanish at the sight of the incoming backup. She's had hours of discussions whether her old, scruffy teady bear would emerge victorious from a fight against the mutated insects from "ticks" - looks like her brother will be proven wrong after all those years. Bears always win - especially with heavy armor, rifles, and supportive mechas to blow up the first wave of enemies.

As soon as the dust settles, and the allied forces move up, she readies her own weaponry, agreeing to Serena's words. "No need to say that twice - we brought our own fireworks, after all, can't let them do all of the work." Jumping forward, she does her best to catch up with the bears, taking a closer look while advancing. If someone would have told her that one day, she'd fight alongside Zentraedi and bears, as far away from home as most humans ever managed to get... "Gotta make a good impression as well - they already saw shadow alphas unable to use their stealth, don't want to get laughed at in the end."

Advancing, the squad reaches the edge of the hive's outer wall. There are several openings at this level, all of them are sealed shut by more of the force fields that the Invid use. But, just like the larger shield that you came through, these are easily dealt with by the Destabilizers that you grabbed from the ruined Shadow Alphas. With the force fields down, the ground forces begin to move in.

Immediately, there is a flurry of weapon fire inside, and you get a call for some heavy weapon support from the Armored Valkyries. Dana steps forward and fires a volley of missiles into the mass of Invid Soldiers, opening up the way for the Cyclones to more up.

As you go farther in, Dana suddenly yells for the Cyclones to halt. "Don't advance any further! There are three Invid Battloids up in the chamber ahead!" She turns to address Miu. "We have to take point; the Cyclones don't have a chance in hell to deal with the three Battloids."

Serena is almost trembling in excitement at the thought of going toe to toe with three of the deadly Invid mecha. "With the point blank ranges we are dealing with, they won't have time to do more than twitch if we dive in there and launch of a mass of missiles into them. Any counterattack that they may try will be absorbed by our extra layers of armor, and they'll be toast. I say we go for it!"

"Never saying no to a few explosive blasts - that's what we're here for after all." Miu maneuvers her Valkyrie further forward, past the cyclones waiting for her squad to clear the way. "Dana - you got them on your radar, or do you - hear them?" Not that it matters, really - the end result will be the same. It's just - one wonders if there's anything humanoid about these clones except their appearance. "How do you know they're battloids - are they different?" Just to be sure she's not missing out on something, she'll carefully eye the path ahead, trying to see the battloids herself - would be kind of embarrassing if she wouldn't have noticed the enemies right in front of her wary eyes...
