                                                                                  SURGE :: JULIAN

There was no doubt among the fact that the speedster was unsure of what to do, or say. Well, he could run off - maybe nobody would notice his disappearance for a while if he moved fast enough. Think about the irony of a speedster getting caught. Well, he could imagine that. It was possible. Mainly for him. Julian was slow, it couldn't be properly helped without further training. Further training, he hummed to himself in thought. That's why he was there. It'd help him train, that's what had caught his attention most on the thought of being part of a team. Well, it was whatever at this point. Instead of making a comment, his eyes scanned the group and a smile had quickly etched itself across his lips.

"I'm Surge, knock off of every Flash in existence. Oh, and Impulse, but.. you know." The dark blonde shrugged at his own thoughts as he looked around curiously. Great statement. Awkward. Poor introductory. He highly doubted anyone seemed to care though, his eyes moving to allow his gaze to flicker towards what he now seemed to know as 'Hecate'. Or, who he now seemed to know as. "Oh great, more people. I love more people." He blurted out without any sort of hesitation on the comment. He couldn't help himself, it was part of his, so to speak, natural being. Anything that came to mind shot out of his mouth before it even properly registered with him.

"Okay, so.. crack the skull guy creeps me out. We got another Green Lantern doing his thing, a terrible pun dude, a goddess, a bird, a singing lady.. I don't think I need to continue." He noted out loud though it was definitely meant for himself opposed to the others. It was something everyone already knew but his mind stayed on one track until it fell off onto another. That was exactly what was happening now to him.

A female computerized voice piped up in the Zeta Tube room. "Enter Thirty-Seven, Question, and B-Twenty-Four, Inquisition." A mechanical whirring filled the room as a flash of light erupted and two men without faces clad in suits, overcoats, and fedoras stepped forward. "This looks like the place",the one in blue and orange, standing at 6'2 exactly,  commented. The younger one, closer to 6'3, chuckled."And you tell me my observations are obvious.",the one in grey and red replied. The slightly shorter man turned and stared for a moment at his companion who stared back before realizing what had just occurred."God damn it Q",he said with a sigh. The faceless detective didn't respond, instead he simply walked off towards the area he suspected the meeting would be taking place.

She stared at the others, giving careful nods to any who glanced her way. So... these were the people that were to be her allies. She drew up the hood of her hoodie, which had earlier been blown off by the wind, and directed her attention to the spotless walls. This place, while nice, was way too clean.

"I am Warden." she stated curtly, stepping forward and giving a small bow. She stepped back again, and then hesitantly began to speak again. "I have but one question: I don't quite understand the purpose of our being here. While I appreciate the opportunity, I would like to know what this initiative is for."

She stepped back, and once again became the silent observer.

Aegeist (Raymond Chandler)

Damp black hair clung to olive skin as black gloved fingers dug deeply into the dusty side of the mountain. Ray's foot slid slightly further down as he scaled down the other side of the mountain. His black suit dripped with water, leaving a sideways trail along the path that he'd pulled himself up to along the side of the beach. He let out a breath in annoyance, the green shield emblem in the centre of his dark jumpsuit having adopted a deeper shade. "I can't believe I had to jump in the water ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN... who the hell wanders down a dark alley when a hero is changing anyway?" Ray grumbled to himself, swinging his lower body weight backwards before launching himself onto the soft sand below. His feet sunk deeply into the luxurious sand as his brow furrowed, "I better not be the first one that happened to..." Ray tilted his head to the side, as he took in Mount Justice's steel doors cut deeply into the tall mountain. He trudged heavily forward, trying to put his hands into the pockets that his suit didn't possess. The call here had been so sudden that Ray hadn't really processed it before slinging a single-strapped bag over his chest. Now that he was staring at the large steel door, he didn't think twice before knocking. Getting no response, he started knocking harder. "This better not be a prank..." "Hey, anyone home?" "RECOGNIZED. AEGEIST. GUEST" "What the hell was..." was the only response that Ray could get out before the doors started to slide open before his confused, wet face.

Seeing no reason to object, Ray just awkwardly said, "Yeah, thanks." Ray noticed that he was dripping on the silver floors as he walked, glancing around quickly to see he was currently alone. He shook himself off like a dog to get rid of the worst of it before reaching up to slick his soft strands of hair back behind his ears. He whistled slightly to himself as his long legs strode casually towards his destination. He was starting to think he was late, fidgeting with his mask slightly, when he noticed a large gathering of people in weird outfits. "Huh, so that's what I look like to my mom," was his first instinct. Glancing around, he just quietly took a step to the side, leaning against the wall. It seemed like the meeting was already in full swing, so there was no need to interrupt. Ray crossed his arms over his chest, nodding slightly at anyone who glanced his way. "No point in being rude, I guess. They might... is that the Green Lantern? Cool. Didn't think he was that short or a kid." His distraction meant that Ray barely noticed he was staring at the power ring wielding kid.

@VMGrey

The two faceless men entered a room of less than a dozen people gathered, chattering. "If they think I'm sticking around to debreif a bunch of kids, they've officially lost it.", Question stated. This drew a smirk from Inquisition, hidden by his mask. "That's not what you said twelve years ago", he replied. Question looked over at him. "That's because you were mature for your age and I knew your mother. Them? Too many comic books." The younger man cocked his head as if to agree and turned away from his mentor to join the group.

He took stock of the exceedingly odd rogues gallery gathered before him. He wasn't quite sure what to make of the congregation of would-be superheroes before him. Q was right. They were young, hopeful. Their outfits erred on the side of cartoonish in some cases. He wondered just what the League was doing bringing together a group of kids. Good lord Q, you dropped me off at the Justice Leage daycare. We're gonna have words you bastard.

Sai

He glanced to the side at Eric’s comment, having been looking to each person who spoke. “If you could avoid causing any major injuries during sparring, Cat.” That certainly wouldn’t go well.

Sai had stepped back slightly to give room for the others to shift or introduce themselves. It seemed that he had jumped the gun somewhat though. A fresh wave of people had come in it appeared. Solaris, Green Lantern, Hecate. Smiling he indicated that they should come join at the table. He might actually need to get more chairs since it looked like far more than he had expected or hoped had come to the initial meeting. It would be interesting, exciting even, to see how many of those stayed. “Welcome. As Surge has said, we are just getting things started. Please, join, introduce yourselves as you choose.” He glanced back as the zeta powered up, raising his hand towards the pair that emerged. “Once everyone has gotten everything out that they care to say, I hope we can pair up and spar to get a feel for each other’s style.”

Turning his gaze towards Warden he inclined his head. “With that information I hope to be able to lay a foundation for who is capable of what. I hope to provide the ability to improve and grow to the point where each of those who join can stand on the level of the Justice League themselves. It will be more than just training however. There will also be real life missions that will give a taste of how situations work while also easing the load on the Justice League.” It should work to solidify their identity both as a group and individuals as well, while also giving them a bit more freedom that the top of the top might be too visible to have.

Carmine

Singing lady? Carmine glanced around the group before shrugging faintly. It seemed that the black leather suited male had been interested for a few moments. That attention had moved on however, leaving Carmine free to examine those gathered. Things had gotten crowded fast, and all in all Carmine was glad that the colorful wings had been dismissed long before even getting to the meeting room.

A smirk spread across the cat's face. Define major. He mentions. Eric could get a bit... erm... rough. He didn't really have kid gloves... or a 'spar mode'. However if someone he actually knew personally and liked stepped into the ring, he'd definitely not break their faces. So far that meant... just Sai. Everyone else was fair game! And the cat's 'game' could get quite violent.Although, because Sai requested nothing 'major' he interpreted that meant to make sure the went out with all the pieces they came in with and with minimal new holes drilled through them. In the months between meeting Sai and getting here, Eric had gotten quite the terrifying reputation. He's snapped necks before, shot men down and used some as his own personally scratching board. Lesson: Do bad things in the cat's 'territory' and you may wind up with a .45 hollow point wedged in your brain stem.

His eyes fall upon the speedster. Surge. Speedsters where fun from what he heard. He drew his pistol. Hey zippy. Think fast! He blurts, suddenly firing in surges direction. Sure Surge wasn't in any real danger. He'd aimed just to the left of the curve of his hip and with that precise aim, there was no way it'd hit him... It'd just be close enough to feel the heat from the bullet if he didn't move. He just wanted to see how fast a speedster could move.

Needless to say, Eric's chaotic tendancies hadn't quite had enough time to fade from his system. At least he wasn't stark raving and certifiably mad anymore though. Once upon a time, the cat would have put that round right between Surge's eyes just out of sheer madness. Sure he still had just that tiny bit of crazy left to make him take that risk, but it also made him unpredictable in a fight.

Sara was some what overwhelmed with the amount of people that had gathered and she was even more overwhelmed trying to keep up with what every one was doing. It appeared as though one person was analyzing her and that made her even more uncomfortable. She tried to just focus on the person that seemed to be directing everything. When she heard that they wanted her spar she became scared. She had come hear what the league wanted but she didn't know how to fight. Sara would be destroyed if she had to spar with someone. "Excuse me but I don't know how to fight, I am a healer and I provide support."

Helious glanced over his shoulder at Sara.  "I'd say don't worry bout it.   I'd be surprised if you're the only one who can't.  I've only got basic hand to hand training.  We'll work it out sure."  He flashes her a reassuring grin.  Opening his mouth to speak again, he flinches at the sound of the gun shot, jerking back from the table.  As he stands, an aura flares to life around him, like a dark orange flame dancing over his skin.  The aura crackles in the air, ragged and pulsing in a quick jagged rhythm, like an adrenaline fulled heart beat.  The light masks him, giving only a faint outline of his form as he raises his fist in front of him, clenching.    The rhythm seems to slow, and concentrate around his fist, which glows with a brighter light as he steps into a basic fighting stance.  Soon his hand becomes hard to look at as the energy seems to crackle like the sun.  He seems to stare at the cat man, clearly weary from the gun shot.  A few stray tendrils lash at his chair and the floor, but he seems to retain control.

Vincent Ferris-Jordan

Ditsy

"I'm eighteen years old, and I'm taller than my dad by an inch." Vincent quipped as he levitated his body off of the ground, the green lantern aura surrounding his body like it usually does. He turned his head towards Aegeist, his face visible in a one-quarter view from behind. Vincent felt lucky that no one had compared him to his father yet, but he knew it would be bound to happen. Vince had a very striking resemblance to his father. He studied the kid who had made the no-doubtedly rude, albeit curious, remark, and decided that he was definitely brave enough to be on this team. And of course, Vince had yet to witness Aegeist ability as opposed to the other way around. Everyone knew what a Green Lantern was capable of at the bare minimum, but Vince was dead-set on showing off what he could do. So when Vince heard the word spar, he couldn't fight the smirk that grew on his face when he turned to face Aegeist.

"I hope you aren't opposed to a light spar, I promise to go easy on you." Vince faced the boy against the wall and let the ring burn brighter as he stayed poised in the air. Of course, at that moment, the power ring began to power down. Vince was lowered to the ground as his suit dissipated until he was left in his jeans and Ferris Aircraft Aviator's jacket. Embarrassed was the least anyone could say compared to how Vince actually felt in that moment. He didn't want to show his secret identity because of his rising popularity in media. When your mother is a star pilot, she has high expectations (get it? high?). Those expectations are to be even more famous than she is. So flying lessons, and the occasional model gig would land Vince among the more popular. It wasn't fame to him. More like infamy, considering nothing was done worth noting. Vince would internally groan, closing his eyes. He didn't know how the other members would react, and he hoped they wouldn't notice, but all that didn't matter. Vince approached Aegeist and put up his hands, ready for a spar nonetheless.

"I'm ready when you are." Vince said as he lowered his center of gravity and prepared his mind and body. He was still a hero. He needed to show that he didn't need the ring to stand on par with these guys.

"Should I know your dad?" Ray asked, eyes blinking behind his mask at the display. "Is he like, the Yellow Lantern or something?" There was more than one Lantern, he was sure he knew that much but Ray had never really sweated the details much. His knowledge of heroes tended to focus more on the arcane, those being the stories that his family would be kicking around. Still, he liked the directness of the challenge, pushing himself off the wall to stand to his full height, noting that there wasn't much difference between the two. "A spar sounds good. Don't worry about holdin' back though," Ray said, hands still in his pocket. "I'm kind of durable. What I'm most good for." He rolled his shoulder as his arms were left hang loose at his sides. There was almost zero guard in his stance as he stood there.

The implication seemed to be the fight would happen up here instead of down below. Ray found that slightly odd but then a gun shot had gone off in the room, so why waste time. The guy before him was... pretty handsome actually. Figured he'd have wound up in the water before meeting him. "If you're ready..." Ray starts, his tone staying relatively neutral. He then twists his hip in a snapping motion, lashing out with his right fist, putting the entirety of his body weight behind the blow as his bag is thrown to the floor beside him. The books inside made a loud clatter in the sudden motion. He aims directly for the side of his opponent's face, his forearm the point intended to make contact. He didn't want to risk killing the guy, just send him flying. He was actually really excited to spar with a fellow hero. That kind of chance had never come up before that moment.  "Show me what the ring does, I want to see!"

"It isn't common not to know." was all Vince could say as the boy before him got into a fighting stance. The Lantern's eyes watched the boy before him carefully analyzing, Vince did his best to keep his analytical gaze secret. Aegeist threw a punch, and all that training that Vince had been through kicked in. The movement happened before Vince told his body to move. It was muscle memory, yet Vince couldn't tell if that was a good thing.

"The ring is dead!" Vince had grunted out as he grabbed Aegeist's arm in a swift motion, whipping him up and over in an over-the-shoulder style flip. The counter didn't end with Vince pinning down Aegist, it was supposed to end with Vince blasting Aegeist in mid-air with the ring. Sadly, the ring was definitely out of juice. While Aegeist was in the air, Vince had brought up his hand readying his ring to blast. The ring sputtered out a small burst of light before dying out. Vince backed away for a second, slightly worried now that he was actually completely powerless against the brute. Of course during his training Vince had been put through much worse and thanks to the ring, regardless of it's battery, Vince always had a very faint protective aura around his body. This would allow Vince to take heavier hits without his suit on, but since he didn't know Aegeist's strength, he didn't want to take any chances.

Ray's momentum carried his entire body's weight, his poor balance making it easy for Vincent to catch his body and fling him over his shoulder. Ray briefly found himself floating in mid-air, watching in slow motion as his opponent's arm raised as if to blast him with the ring. One thought ran through his head, "The ring isn't dead! Awesome... terrible right now but awesome!" Unfortunately, the ring made no actual emission as Ray's arms blocked his face, leaving him to fall directly onto the point of his back behind his raised shoulder blades. He bounced painfully from the impact, rolling messily along the ground into the chairs at the meeting room. He was left staring up at the lights, a mixture of disappointment and rage coursing through him suddenly. His teeth were gritted and his movements stilted as he dragged himself back to his feet, a vein practically bulging in his forehead from his unhealthy clenching. He seemed to take little notice of the immense pain coursing through his back that was already receding. "That ring stunt supposed to be a joke!? Don't make light of me, you punk!" he roared, gripping one of the heavy metallic chairs dotting the meeting room.

In one jerky motion, Ray spun into the motion, launching the heavy object through the air towards his opponent in a fit of blind anger. The semi-circular back of the chair was hardly aero-dynamic but it gathered quite a bit of steam as it went. Vincent barely had time to avoid that object but the aim wasn't perfect either, a massive banging noise filling the room when the chair smashed into the wall. Ray was already charging after the object, leaping shoulder first into Vincent at top speed, shoulder chucking him against the steel as the previously thrown object rolled along the ground. Ray followed this up by planting his weight on his big toe to pivot into another wild haymaker aimed directly for Vincent's face.

Sai startled at the gunshot, his feet sliding around into a defensive stance. “Cat!” One hand reached out now that the danger of the gunshot was somewhat less. At least a gunshot in his direction. “Please do not shoot in the meeting room. Equipment…and people…are easily damaged. Actually, do not shoot…” The rant faded off as the conversation flowed and continued on into…well really exactly what he intended.

His hand dropped as Sai shifted ever so slightly, putting Cat close enough that he could step behind him at any point. Sai himself couldn’t actually be one of the combatants after all. The sparring pair at least seemed to have the idea, and the enthusiasm to get a feel for each other. Hell, they were even having a conversation. Just…really. “Can we not do this in the meeting room? Please…the training room would be much better. It has reinforcement…and padding.”

Carmine stiffened at the sight of the gun, the back of her shirt seeming to almost ripple. Nothing came of it however, the woman taking in a deep breath. It was fine. This was a room of super heroes, surely they could defend themselves from a single bullet. They might even be hero enough to not attack right back.

Instead she shook herself, glancing at Sara. “We can go over stances if you want. I don’t know if it would be okay to jut talk.” The thought that Carmine should be the one to face off against the cat did cross her mind however. His bullets weren’t overly useful on her after all. She would prefer to have the entertainment of stepping off a building before someone knew that it really was about the last thing that would hurt her.

The other's getting into their sparring here had her rethinking that again. They were quite gun ho weren't they.

The sudden request barely reached Ray's ears in time, his planted toe being joined by his opposite foot trying to slow him down. His whole body jerked awkwardly, his arms grasping at the air for something to balance before he managed to stop. Standing back up, his hand rising to scratch his cheek in an incredibly awkward way. His eyes darted from Vincent to Sai and back absently before he glanced at where the chair had hit the wall. A tiny scratch had been left and the chair was scuffed. A slight redness entered Ray's cheeks as his previous anger evaporated. He coughed slightly before looking at Sai, "Sorry about that." He ducked down, lifting the chair off the floor and setting it down gingerly.

His attention soon wandered back to Vincent ,"I wasn't expecting you to throw me before. Man, that landing was rough," he grumbled good naturedly. He smirked slightly, making it clear he'd been having a pretty good time despite his outbursts. The other guy could fight. Ray didn't like fighting exactly but he couldn't help enjoying competing with people. His expression reverted to mild curiosity when his eyes trailed over the power ring, "Can you charge that here?" He then blinked, "Sorry, I don't think I got your name." He then rubbed the back of his head, glancing away, "Or maybe I forgot it actually... either way, what should I call you? You can call me Aegeist I guess." He leaned in, "Are we using real names here or...?" he trailed off, realising he wasn't as prepared as he thought he was, beyond the whole jumping into the sea thing.
