Sorry to intrude, but this looked interesting but I couldn't find exactly where to start or what I needed to know. Is this still open and is this based on something, since it's under "Fandom"?

JRPG JRPG is the GM for this. It's still open, and you're allowed to play as basically anyone. Hopefully, he'll link up the IC soon.

Question: How often will events happen/how involved will the fandom god be with individual stuff?

Alright, let me clarify. How often will you continue the story (i.e. advance to the first fight)?
