Welcome to the Jungle

Mekai closed his eyes briefly while clenching his jaw. This was not the time to even bring up such matters when it was clear as day how people would react to it. Cap just didn't quite seem to understand how much of a hole he was digging himself in, it was either that or the older man simply didn't really care. He re-opened his eyes to see Kay walk out the classroom and he understood why he left completely. It was hard to listen to a bunch of bullshit. Cap didn't understand in the slightest what they were going to and how could he? The man had grown up privileged without any worries of people discriminated against simply because he was a white male, he didn't face racial prejudice nor what it felt to be treated like another statistic in a world that constantly is waiting for your downfall. Trying to live life day by day without breaking down and holding your head up while the people you care about die right around you....it's a lot.

His fingers raked though his hair before sliding down to his face. In all honesty he was a little more tempted to just walk out the room like Kay did but something kept him tucked into his seat, brown eyes scanning the room as it got more and more out of control, all thanks to Cap truly. Mekai glanced over at Logan and Imani who simply watched from their desk, supporting Rome on their shirts before Cap directed his next piss poor attempt at Miguel. It was almost as if the whole room became silent, quiet enough to hear a pen drop. The calm before the storm. At this moment Cap knew he fucked up, shit Mekai knew he fucked up and if God was down here himself he'd shake his head.

Poor Caps face paled when Miguel's voice began to raise and like most fights on instinct Mekai closed his notebook and slid it into his bag before sliding his and Celeste desk out the way. Damn he wish he had brought some snacks for this ass woopin'.As entertaining as this altercation was getting Mekai didn't really expect Cap to simply stand there while Miguel was tossing desks out his way, shoot maybe Cap welcomed the ass whoopin' who knows. Logan shouted for him to stop and Mekai knew that this was going to go south real fast. When the first punch landed Cap stumbled back but Miguel was on the man before he even had time to bring his hands up.

As much as Mekai wanted to see Cap get his ass whooped it was wrong in the sense of laid out consequences that were going to come Miguel's way. of course Mekai didn't want to be the one to break up a fight between a raging teen and a poor defenseless teacher but damn his good intentions because he knew that if someone didn't stop him he'd beat Cap to death. Fuck me. Mekai stood from his desk and moved toward the front where Cap was currently re thinking his profession and grabbed a hold of Miguel's right hand and yanking him back. That only stopped him briefly because he squirmed out the grip and made moves back toward poor Cap who looked petrified and that look triggered something in Mekai.

Despite the rage in Miguel's eyes Mekai shoved him back off Cap and then held him at arms length away from Cap who finally had a chance to wipe the blood from his face with trembling hands. " You got it man, chill" Kai voiced over and over at a struggling Miguel but he wasn't going to witness another death and he wasn't going to budge either. " You gonna have to try and beat my ass if you think Imma let you beat that man to death, not happening. " His eyes locked with his boy, chest heaving from the attempts to keep him still. " Shit you got me breathing like a fat ass running up stairs".

It was obvious that Caprioti had lost control of the room; he was like a man desperately standing on a sinking ship gradually realizing that he's in over his head... and that the water was about to make it official. William, for his part, had no sympathy for the man. As always, it was hard to tell how much of Cap's antagonism toward the students was caused by wilful ignorance and how much of it was truly malicious, or a combination of the two. The elderly man was from another generation, another culture. Hopelessly lost here at Midwood, but raging against the tide all the same, all the while totally unaware -- or simply uncaring -- of just how much of an ass he was making of himself.

Will didn't expect Cap's reaction: bringing his fists slamming down on the desk in a rage. He thought the man might try to slink out of the situation, saving what face he still could by dismissing the "dialogue" completely. Instead, he was doubling down and going on the attack. William shifted uncomfortably in his seat. This situation wasn't going anywhere productive. He raised his eyebrows in surprise when Caprioti addressed him directly.

"As for you William, you are awfully silent in all of this, any input you'd like to add?"

Will scoffed lightly, under his breath. He shook his head once before looking up to lock eyes with the man. "Nothing you'd want to hear, Cap," he muttered, exasperation causing his Southern drawl to leak through. The sound of a voice -- Miguel's voice -- caught his attention and he looked over to see Miguel stand up.

“Why don’t I fucking show you?”

William felt his heart drop, his adrenaline start to pump. He had seen enough fights to know when one was about to begin. But for a precious few moments, he was locked in place. Miguel crossed the distance between himself and the teacher in what seemed like the blink of an eye, lashing out at the older man furiously, the sound of fists pounding on flesh intermingling with his shouts and curses.

Will shook himself from his trance, launching out of his desk and leaping over another to reach the "fight", though it was really more of a beating. Mekai had beaten him there, pulling Miguel off of Cap and holding him at arm's length. Hendrix approached Abrams from behind, watching and waiting for another attack to come. He'd never seen Miguel this angry, this out of control. He had no idea what to expect. He turned to glance at Logan, tempted to look to her for help calming her cousin down... but he didn't. Instead, he laid a hand -- firm, but gentle -- on Miguel's shoulder.

"I know you're pissed, but this isn't the way, man," he said quietly. "And Cap ain't worth it."

It was bound to happen sooner or later, the day Cap pushed one of them too far. Although with the way he ran his mouth, it was definitely bound to be sooner. And of course it was on the day Rome died. Of course Miguel's buttons were the ones he had to go and mash with no regard. She'd seen this moment coming from a mile away yet when it finally came, she was still surprised. It'd all happened too fast, Miguel firing words back at Cap before rising from his seat and storming over towards the front of the room, shoving desks aside, her own being yanked by Mekai.

Best case scenario, for Cap anyway, she expected Miguel to just go up and scream in his face, but from the look on his face she could that wouldn't suffice for him, he wanted more than just an argument. He wanted blood. Or at least a few bruises. For a split second, Celeste felt the slightest bit of sympathy for Cap when she heard the sound of his body hitting the floor. She leaped up form her desk, backing up from the scene going on in the front of room. William and Mekai had went up there, although she wasn't sure that would help matters very much. Not that said matters were well off to begin with. She could say this much for certain, there was never a dull day in homeroom. Never.

She glanced at William as he attempted to diffuse the situation, and much to her chagrin, she had to agree with him, Cap really wasn't worth it. She knew Miguel was angry but she didn't think he'd actually attack Cap. Knowing that man, he'd make it sound like Miguel had a gun to his head, and knowing the system everyone else would go right along with it.

"Yeah, man you know all he's gonna do is try to get you locked up too or some shit..."

Cap was doing the absolute most. The absolute most and there was no if, and, or buts about it. Logan would glare at the man before her, her teeth grinding and her fists clenched. It truly was hard to stand this man and in that moment Logan wondered if there was anyone that actually loved him. How could they when he spewed nothing but hatred 24/7? The others voiced their opinions about what he was saying but Logan was curious about Miguel. The man had sent a direct attack at her cousin and in the seconds afterward her eyes would flicker back to her cousin. She could see he was absolutely livid, his feet tapping a mile a minute. She assessed him some more, trying to figure out if he was truly okay or not.

His facial expression… His eyes. That was enough to let her know that he was not alright. But now the only question for her was: When would he explode.

She’d turn back to Imani, a concerned look on her face. “Miguel… I think I need to get him out of here. No… I need to get him out of her. Now.” She’d say, giving her best friend’s hand a squeeze before letting go. “Who knows what he’s capable of right now. He looks like he could kill-“

And just like that, she’d be just a minute too late. She wouldn’t exactly comprehend what he’d yelled but she would turn just in time to watch him running through the small class, bulldozing anything and everyone in his path. She’d be silent then but she’d be screaming his name to moment his fist landed on his target.

“Miguel!!” Logan would yell, jumping up out of her seat and already making her way to them. “Miguel, stop it! STOP!” She’d scream at him, trying to pull him off of the asshole of a man only to be pushed away. She’d stumble backwards, catching herself before she could fall and feeling her own anger starting to rise. “Damn it Miguel. Fucking stop!!”

Relief would flood over her at the sight of Mekai pushing Miguel away from Cap. She would make a mental note to thank him later. Then just like that Will would join, trying to talk some sense into her cousin. She’d be slightly surprised at this, pausing for just a moment but would make her way to Mekai’s said, trying to look eyes with her family member. Celeste would even throw in her own two cents and Logan for sure agreed.

“Listen to them Miguel. Listen to me. Stop it. He’s not worth it.” She’d hiss at him, her eyebrows furrowed as she watched her cousin struggling to push past Mekai. “Just calm down!”
