Shy had finally managed to escape the tall walls of Valken's capitol city. The bluegreen haired woman found herself on the grass leading up to the treeline of the massive forest that surrounded the city. This forest allowed the Outlanders to get lost. So they could not be followed appropriately. Sure, they could be chased through the forest, but this was Outlander turf, and it became increasingly hard for armoured knights to move through such thick forest.

To her, it seemed all the others had escaped as well. Well, good for them. She didn't exactly have any real connection to any of them, but still. The hooded Valken had helped her escape... So... she felt some compulsion to thank him. What a way she planned on thanking him. Lenneth, too, had been there waiting. Which, had been surprising, but good for her. Now, they could finally talk about how they were going to form some sort of band to help aid the Outlanders, and bring peace. Shy wasn't exactly thrilled about it, but recognized this as one of the few ways that her people would finally be able to live without being hunted, or without simply dying of starvation.

Even so... she was not going to just let them walk all over her, and all Outlanders. They weren't going to just impose their ideals and path for Outlanders. Shy and her people were very proud.

Shy disappeared for a bit, leaving Lenneth and the others perplexed. It would take a short time, but not too long, there were Outlanders everywhere, if one knew where to look, and the woman did know where to look, obviously. It would've been far easier, and taken less time to animate, if her previous band hadn't ran into the city and got themselves killed, but anyway, she managed to find some more Outlanders to follow the Archer General.

Standing in a tree, on a strong branch, Shy announced to the smallish group there. "Outlanders are proud! We won't just let Valken walk all over us! Prepare yourself Lenneth and... hood-boy. We're not going to simply stand aside while you have your way with our way of life! We aren't lesser. We aren't weaker and stupid. We are Outlanders! That means we fight back!"

She nodded to the Outlanders that began to crawl their way out of the trees. "Ready? Outlanders, get them! Attack!" There was a small band of these Outlanders, and it seemed like Shy was attacking Lynneth and the hooded Valken, plus anyone else who was there supposedly 'to help'.

Heh... Let's see if you guys pass this test... Shy thought inwardly, with a satisfying snicker. There was now a bow on her back.

Lenneth was there waiting, where Shy and the others would manage to escape the city from. A path that was easily accessible inside, to her surprise, that lead beyond the wall with a shockingly hidden door. It was obviously made my Shy or other Outlanders for this very purpose. It was basically invisible, blending in with the rest of the wall, and behind some buildings that most didn't check behind. That was the short story of it.

How was Lenneth here? Well, Vava of course. The little girl had some strange mystical way of observing events. To her, she had 'seen' Lenneth here, where the 'escaped prisoners' would go. It had been pretty trivial for her (and Hayate) to leave the castle, and find their way here. Now, it seemed Vava had been correct, and the emergence of Shy and the other escapees was expected, giving credence to whatever magic Vava employed to 'see' this.

However, it seemed Lenneth may have been mistaken, for after a short time of waiting for Shy to... do something. She reemerged with Outlanders behind her. They were going to attack her and the others with her? What was the deal with that? Frowning, Lenneth lifted her shield, preparing for this foresty battle. She had expected to talk about how to bring peace to Valken and the Outlanders, not a battle that could end her life. Wasn't Shy supposed to be her 'friend'?

Roland

This girl was still inside his house. Did it matter to Roland? Nope, if any he wouldn't even give a hoot about it. "So Coin, why do you wear such revealing clothes?" Roland asked as he looked outside the window. His parents weren't home by this time which was normal and anyone else in the family were probably hanging out with others. Getting up from the bed, he waited for Coin's response.

Coin figured she'd probably be going around this time. It was fun to mess with the guy and it was honestly pretty refreshing to meet another of her own kind, but she had overstayed her welcome. Goodness knows she disliked overstaying in places. She was an opportunist, that meant constant motion. Also, anyone getting to know her... was a no go. She was just a mysterious little girl, that didn't need a paper trail.

"Huh?!" She gasped. Frowning, and tilting her head, Coin retorted, "What?! This is the latest fashion for feminine Valken youth! I look good! Gotta stay up to date with such things as a Valken girl like myself!.. 'Revealing clothes'... Puh. Maybe you just gota dirty mind!"

It was his first time being in a group.  In fact, it was his first time hearing about a General of the Outlander army.  And being brought far away from his village made him nervous.  However, being brought to fight against a small band 'enemies' before them with their numbers should make this easy.  Or so he'd think to himself.

"Alright Ferre.... Remember the basics..."  he'd mumble to himself as he'd listen to Shy give her speech.  The signal to attack would be after she finished.  And with the nod directed to her soldiers.  Ferre started to make their way out of the trees.  With his spear out in front of him, he pointed it towards the small band of enemies before him.  He'd wait for one of his brethren to make the first move before joining in.

@Thalia_Neko

Marth sighed, well he had hoped that the Outlander General would've just stuck to his plan of escaping the Capitol, instead now they're being h7nted or at least they will be. When they got to the forest he was surprised to see princess Lenneth there, she was geared up but didn't look like she was going to fight. Well until the General told her men to attack, was this a test? Or a way to kill the princess? What would she truly gain from this? It doesn't matter right now, all that does matter is surviving.

He drew his rapier and prepared himself for the upcoming confrontation. Well it seems Marth would make the first move, or at least counter in this instance. One of the outlanders rushed forward towards Marth, axe in hand, and took a swipe at the prince which missed because Marth had the advantages of speed and skill.

Marth spun out of the man's wild swing and raised his blade for a slash across the chest followed by a second slash immediately after, both nonfatal merely knocking the man out. Marth has no intention on killing anyone, sadly he doesn't think their opponents feel the same way. He would move forward but refrained from engaging the enemy, for it would be very bad attacking more than one foe without the aid of his allies.

@Thalia_Neko @ThatSideCharacter (Everyone else)

Carren had been agonizing the entire trip out of the city, and regretted having to follow Shy out. He'd doctored out a route of his own and was planning on taking that, but watching the woman sneak through the city so easily really made him dread how loose security had been. If this was intentional, it had been a gross oversight by Freya...

Not to mention that the wound in Carren's shoulder was both metaphorically and literally killing him. He didn't have time to stop the bleeding so his robes only got stained further, and having to run with such a wound was no easy task. The guards wouldn't have any remorse either way, and he dreaded to think what would happen if people found out he'd helped an Outlander general escape. Still, all of this excitement didn't hold a candle to the shock and confusion he felt once he saw who ways waiting outside.

"...LENNETH?!" Carren yelled in surprise, stumbling back in surprise and accidentally knocking his hood off his head. If he hadn't already cornered himself, he sure has now- Lenneth could see full well he had helped Outlanders escape.

Carren couldn't speak. He had been hit with his own spell of silence. His younger cousin, Lenneth, had caught him in the act- with her newlywed wife in tow no less!

...wait, her newlywed wife was also here? How in the world did that-

 "Outlanders are proud!"

Carren's thoughts got cut off by the booming voice of Shy, who declared an attack on both Carren and Lenneth. Carren's panic hit into overdrive, he frantically looked side to side while mulling things over. The situation had gotten really bad: No matter who's side he takes, he's dying either way! In literature he'd ran across the dilemma of Morton, where both options presented were equally undesirable. Well, he'd be lying if he said he wasn't faced with such a dilemma right this instant!

"Wait, wait! Hang on, can't we talk about this?! I didn't come out here to fight!" Carren yelled, but his yells fell on deaf ears as the blue-haired man rushed forward with his rapier. Carren cursed his luck and glanced back at the outlanders, now seeing an archer who had gotten dangerously close and was pointing her bow at him.

Carren flinched and barely dodged the arrow sent flying at him, reflexively casting the last spell he memorized. The archer was sent flying and got knocked on his back, scaring Carren. A few more warriors had taken notice of him, with the guy giving a nervous laugh.

"I'm going to die. Oh dear."

Well, serves him right for breaking out a prisoner...

Roland

Roland rolled his eyes at Coin's 'fashion statement'. "If anything it makes you look like you are going to seduce your enemies with your looks" Roland said his honest opinion. If say the town was snowing then Coin's 'fashion statement' would definitely showed her good looks by freezing to death. "Anyway what was the test you said earlier?" Roland said remembering about the 'test' or something Coin mentioned when he chased her down.

A quiet figure, standing some distance away, watched as the actions before her unfolded near the walls of the capitol city Valken. A small girl that had just come from behind the walls lifted a massive shield that looked too heavy for her as if it was a feather. There was a female with a bow who had also come from the wall and was making some form of a speech. Perhaps she was a leader of sorts? Those that were behind the one with the bow had drawn their weapons. Then the onlooker understood. The shield girl was the princess of Valken. It was hard to miss the massive shield. The rest of them must have been Outlanders who escaped Valken and were about to confront the princess. What was her name again.....

Kuno cursed herself for forgetting. While she supported her people, the Outlanders, she made it a habit to remember names, Valken or Outlander. Perhaps more of her questions would be answered if she observed, Sitting in the tree she was in, she watched

Lenneth glanced at the others around. She only recognized... like one face. That of Carren, a relative of hers. He yowled her name in surprise and the purple-haired girl regarded him with a bit of curious concern. He seemed rather flustered, like he hadn't expected to see her there. Well, maybe he hadn't... In fact, it'd probably be a bit more unusual if he had expected to see the princess. Regardless, she was not really surprised to see him. She had always considered the man a pretty agreeable one.

A small smile crossed her face, and she waved nicely to her cousin. Then an arrow whizzed dangerously passed her head, shot by Shy. Looking over she lifted her shield and blocked a few more arrows; clanging and bouncing harmlessly off of her large 'weapon'. They weren't fired from the Archer General, but some nearby archers. A quick glance over the 'battlefield' of the forest, she head-counted around 10, possibly more. Probably more, if the Outlanders really intended for this to be their grave. Little did she know, Shy was merely testing her, to see if the princess of Valken would be worthy of being an ally to Outlanders.

She stepped up before Carren, and guarded easily against a Outlander with a spear, before lunging into him, and knocking him down with her large shield. He was KOed instantly, falling to the ground unconscious. She nodded to her cousin, and prepared a strong defense.

She watched as Shy narrowed her eyes. "Take out the Princess!" the sea-green haired woman shouted, before firing off a few arrows loosely towards her 'enemies'. The rest of the Outlanders instantly charged those that they were 'fighting', raising weapons, and swinging. Let's see how everyone handled it... The blue-haired man seemed to be in good shape already...

Coin regarded him with a bit of tension, but then drew in a breath. A small smile crossed her lips and she exaggerated a casual shrug. "Maybe I am?" she replied. "What's wrong with using a little feminine wiles to confuse people? Makes... 'finding opportunities' much easier. Wouldn't you say? Uh! I guess you wouldn't really know... Then again, where I enjoy good fortune and... finding openings to exploit, you merely thief. So, you probably don't really understand such intricacies! Anyway, you're right. Such garments on you would be extremely awkward, but hey. Use whatcha got to get whatcha want, am I right?" Blinking at his question she tilted her head. "Test, you said?" Coin asked. Tapping her lip she appeared to think, "Did I mention such a thing? Welp, probs forgot! Teehe, iuno!"

Kapoore

images-102.jpg

Kapoore stood in the shade of one of the many trees he was leaning against, his head down, as he watched the 'ambush' take place. Shy was crafty enough to escape the guards on her own, which Kapoore gave her credit for, but as soon as he manged to escape from the Captain and his men and regroup, he gave her a very stern and lengthy speech about what would happen to her the next time she tried to leave a friend for dead. He sighed; despite all of that, he had STILL not been able to relay the information he had to her. Everytime he tried, she would just brush him off, saying there was something more important to do. Well, that wasn't going to happen this time. As soon as this little attack was over, he was going to pull her aside, relay the info, and be on his way. This world was really starting to annoy him; he much preferred worlds with bigger cities and smaller guard towers. He grumbled in an annoyed fashion and crossed his arms, not really paying much attention to the fight.

Ryan Walker

Ryan walked the outskirts of the wall, his hand trailing against the rough stone with another holding his rifle. He stopped for a moment as he heard shouting, which he could't make out at this distance. "What...?" He mumbled, moving closer, this time readying his weapon and crouching lower. As he got closer he heard the sounds of battle: swords clashing, the pounding feet of charging infantry, thiwps of bowstrings and whistles of arrows. But what surprissed him more was who was there: Lynneth and the Outlander prisioner. He fired a shot, waiting a few moments before it burst aflame on his target, causing the man to panic as he dropped to the ground and rolling. After this he ran over to Lynneth, standing next to her and readying another shot. "What kindof mess are you in this time?" He asked, glancing her way but for a moment as he then watched for the next attacker.

Roland

Roland didn't even tread on with his thoughts. He shouldn't care and it would be too tiring defending himself from a enraged female. "Well I guess I have a lot of imagination I guess" Roland said as he looked around. This was going no where and they haven't even done a single thing yet. "Why did you become a thief anyway? All thieves have a reason" Roland said as he thought of some of the reasons.

Seeing one of their fellow members go down, Ferre would immediately go to take the person's place.  Hearing the orders of his superior once more he'd aim his spear towards Lenneth.  There was a spark of hesitation in the gut of his stomach as he spoke to the foe before him, "I don't have any real grudge against you but... I have to do this!"

He charged his spear towards the shield user, learning from his fallen comrade to use the distance of his spear to his advantage.  Such a heavy shield must surely weigh down this person, along with the fact that she seemed more inclined to protect the person behind her.

@Archdemon @Ammokkx @Thalia_Neko @LoneSniper87

Carren jumped back in surprise when a giant hunk of metal quickly shielded him from an errant spear, doubling it up by knocking out the attacker. Carren let out a nervous laugh, being incredibly uncomfortable with the current situation. He glanced only briefly at his cousin, then let out a sigh of relief.

"T-Thank you, Lenneth..." Carren murmured, taking a step back to observe the battlefield again. In that moment, Carren had to jump again as a bowman suddenly burst into flames out of nowhere, coupled with a man jumping down and doing a roll. They seemed to hold a strange contraption: A musket, if Carren recalled correctly. Channeling the inner magic potential of the wielder, it's an alternative way to cast spells... or at least that's how he's always seen it.

The man quickly inquired to the princess and braced another shot, seemingly missing the young spearman who had gotten dangerously close. Said spearman was also silly enough to shout out to Lenneth, alarming Carren and most likely the woman herself to his position. Since Lenneth was trying to shield Carren, he figured to return the favor.

The dark tome in his hand flew open again, pages scrolling past in the wind. Carren found the spell he wanted to use and started to mutter the incantation. A white rune appeared under his robes as they fluttered, carried by a strong force that built up from under his feet. A black goo rose up from behind the spearman, launching itself and trying to squeeze around the lower parts of his face.

Lenneth looked towards the boy that shouted towards her, knowing that there was another beside her. His intuition was right. The purplish-haired woman was a lot more inclined to defend and protect, using her shield like it was meant to -guard, instead of any real attacks. It could still hurt, if she brought it down on someone. Oh, you should believe it. That would hurt a lot. Especially if she struck a small boy like himself with it. Not that she had planned on really doing that.

Blinking, she gave the man a nod, but realized she didn't need to defend her cousin again, for he was attacking instead. To her right, there was someone.. with a strange contraption in his hands, pointed at the enemy. Did she know this man? Lenneth couldn't really recall. He wore Valken garb, which meant he was 'on her side'. To his question she answered in a simple word, "Test."

It had become plain to her, what Shy's intentions were. None of the Outlanders were actually all that aggressive... aside from the small, young spearman. And most of the archers missed on purpose. Especially, Shy. She had missed basically every shot, and hadn't moved from her spot up in the trees. A tactic Lenneth did know she employed, but she also knew that Shy loved to boast and really lay down the law.

Meaning, her arrows did not miss.

As if on cue, a few more fired out and whizzed by with that low screech. Lenneth knew she had been safe, understanding this entire thing, but she still held up her shield, just in case. A few other Outlanders charged forward, looking to 'attack'. If they wanted, they could use the blunt sides of their weapons, and still cause some harm. Which was probably their over all intention. However, Shy knew that there was a possibility her test would be discovered quickly. If she became privvy to it, then the Outlanders would get far more aggressive. No sense in letting this test be 'easy'.

Coin was nowhere near enraged. Ah hell no, the girl was one of the chillest around. Explaining herself had just seemed prudent, that was all. Reading the small amount of stuff she had brought with her, she heard his question. Turning her head to look at him, this was one line that actually could bother the girl. "I'm no 'thief'," she retorted flatly. "You're a thief. You broke into the castle, then left with their belongings. I was nice and said you had taken advantage of an opportunity, but you just stole from them. Valken Royalty! That's risky bisness."

Shaking her head, she repeated. "I'm not a thief. Just know when certain winds blow my way."

His attacks seemed to be rendered ineffective despite all his strikes with his spear, however that didn't change the fact that the shield girl will still only able to defend.  At least, in his head that's what he was thinking.  As he prepared to go in for another strike, the sound of pages from a book alerted his ears.

"Magic...? The person behind was a magic user?"  He mumbled to himself.

Not quite sure what to expect he held his spear up to guard for whatever was coming in front of him, not knowing that the black goo had formed up behind him.  It would grab him easily, catching him off guard and proceed to silencing him as made muffled sounds.  He'd swing wildly with his right arm trying to attack the goo monster while trying to pry it off his mouth with his left arm.  After a bit of a struggle, he'd managed to pull the goo away from him but not without leaving him short of breath.  Managing to bring up his spear once more, he'd back off slightly in an attempts to regain his stamina.

Ryan Walker

"Test?" He asked, looking around to try to spot anything out of place, anything to tip him off as to what this truly was. But ere was nothing out the ordinary, except for the fact that the archers never moved, and missed nearly every shot. "Alright then, I'm Ryan Walker, at your service. Orders?" He asked, loading in another shot, waiting for orders and quickly trying to think who he needs to attack first.

She had no idea what exactly was going on or who to fight for. So far, she could only gather who were those from Valken and those from the Outlands. Lenneth looked at the man with the firearm. He asked for orders? Right... she was a Princess, which meant she was a leader. "Sir Walker..." she murmured, trying to think up anything. She was no tactician. She stood there with a big hunkametal and that's all she did. "Just, don't kill," she stated flatly.

The Outlanders had gotten more aggressive, and were now no longer advancing through the woods, but were right up in their faces, attacking. Lenneth easily blocked a few chops of an ax and a sword, only to follow up, by trusting out her greatshield and smacking her assailants. Shy was watching intently, and to Lenneth, it seemed like she was preparing something. "Stand your ground... be vigilant."

A few more arrows whizzed by, that were shot closer than any before, that hadn't been directly blocked.

Roland

He rolled his eyes when Coin said she 'wasn't a thief'. "Sure sure whatever floats your boat" Roland said as he rolled on his bed. He wondered what excitement should he partake his day. "Anyway don't you have other friends to go see?" This was strange to talk to someone you just met for hours but... it was a time killer. Tracing his thoughts around as he wondered what would she say next.

Carren sighed in relief when the spearman backed off, but jumped up in surprise again when an arrow barely whizzed past him. Unlike Lenneth, he had no real combat experience and thus didn't know the outlanders were holding back. He glanced around nervously, looking at where all the enemies are. They were all so far away! Carren could probably nick one of them if he got closer, but something told him it wasn't a good idea to move away from behind Lenneth for now.

That something turned out to be something good, as even Lenneth commented on the fact they should stand their ground. Carren's head whipped to Ryan, who was carefully reloading his musket.

"Soldier, I uh...Thanks for your help, sincerely-"

Carren's words were cut short by another arrow, making the guy flinch and stagger back. He flipped through the pages of his tome again, looking for a spell to cast in this situation. His eyes cast back to the force pulse, and he cursed himself for relying on it so much.

Carren stepped out from behind Lenneth briefly, chanting the words under his breath. An axe wielder took that time to strike and got dangerously close, but Carren managed to finish the incantation just in time to hurl him back- coincidentally, right at the spearman again.

"I sincerely hope I am not hurting them too badly..." Carren mused, worried for their safety. He had seen a little too much combat for a good, long time.

Coin watched him roll his eyes, and roll out of his bed. He seemed through with it. She.. she was, too. At his question, she answered, "I... I suppose so." Not really. She didn't really have 'friends'. Having 'friends' made it hard to find opportunities to 'be lucky'. So she kept most at arm's length. "Welp! Kaykay! Time to head outs! Seeya, yo. Never meant to bother you so much. Later, broseph!" Coin gave him a salute, then quickly dashed away. It wouldn't take more than a moment, for the Blade of Fortune to disappear.

Expedient Blocking: If Lenneth's speed is higher than her opponent's, then her shields gain weapon advantage.

Okay, her latest statement would be hard to follow. Shy was making sure of that; shouting out across the forest, the Outlander General gave a pretty harsh command. Her words were meant for all, though, that much was obvious. Lenneth had realized this was some sort of test, but... Shy certainly meant to make it tough on them. She didn't honestly mean the command, though, right?

"KILL THEM ALL, Outlanders!" the seagreen haired woman called out through the trees. She fired a arrow, as if to demonstrate, right at Lenneth's face. Who quickly lifted her shield to easily deflect the projectile.

Outlanders were now on the warpath, screaming warcries, shaking their weapons towards the sky. In a thunder, they ran forward, ready to 'kill them all'. Spotting the pleased look on Shy's face, Lenneth was forced to block more attacks much more frequently. She knocked an ax user back, deflected four lances and a javelin, felt a sword nick her arm, but just barely. It did basically nothing, getting her where there was no armor, but not deep enough to make a substantial wound, or anything that would scar.

'Kill them', was just to scare the Valken, right? It seemed Carren would have to hurt more, despite his compassionate words.

He was given a moment to catch his breath before rushing in once more with the other Outlanders.  He ran faster than the others and was initially aiming for Carren but changed his target for one that was closer.  Aiming his spear towards the man with the strange contraption (Ryan Walker), he began giving a lethal barrage of attacks towards the male.  He was taking advantage of the fact that the man was not behind Lenneth's shield but what still within range of his attack.
