Bio:
The purest definition of the word 'Warrior', Mathias has been seen by many as an unstoppable force of raw power. He is known for his constant travels through the savage lands, his one-man siege on a Ork colony, bringing it to heel, his duel with the son of Asteraoth, the king of rot, which he emerged victorious, and being the lone survivor of the knights of Debluff. He is called the Lord-Knight of the Wild, because of his constant wanderings in places that could mean certain death. He has stared this death in the face, and come back triumphant
Standing at a tall 19ft, his strength is attributed to his giant heritage, and his natural affinity to nature attributed to his elven heritage. Mastering the wilds under the tutelage of his parents, he traveled the lands searching for knowledge about a civilization he never knew, seeking answers to questions. He does not have a personal attachment to monster or mortals, nor does he care for politics or any of the sort. He solves problems simply because they exist in his way.
Though he could easily teach students combat, Mathias has adamantly refused to teach combat to them, stating that his methods of fighting were simply that: His methods. No-one could successful mimic them, as his were meant to fit him specifically, so it was best they devised their own ways of fighting. While this may seem like an issue of pride or arrogance, it was not the sort to Mathias. Rather, it was a matter of practicality- They had to learn to fight with their own strength. If they fought using someone else's methods, they'd simply be more predictable.
He only stays at the school once a year, and travels the land for the next three. This is due to his own logic that the natural order of things was change, and that there was always something new to know, something new to discover. Nothing ever lasted forever, so to best equip these children, he needed to constantly refresh his own understanding. He is also one of the only teachers to be on friendly terms with Alistair, though again this was a matter of brutal honesty- The world outside did not pull their punches, they could not afford too either. He believes that, while Alistair's methods may seem cruel, he is actually saving the lives of many students.
Now, after three years of travel, the time has come to return to Scholomance, and offer fresh insight into the world around them. His faithful companion is a large wolf Smiley gave him as a pup. The wolf, a female den mother of six, goes by the name 'Lazarus', is marked with his giant-clans tattoos.
Personality:
a Quiet individual, ever polite and ever calm, Mathias is often seen as much as a Scholar as a Warrior, for his insight into the various aspects of the world. He posses a unique take on things, stating that the students must develop individually, to be able to survive, before they can rely on teams or groups. Despite supporting a survival of the fit mentality, Mathias is always willing to lend aid to anyone that needs it, but not if the person is stupid enough to intentionally put themselves in the situation.
