Reapers

Umbra Regalia

There's no place like 127.0.0.1
Eleven years ago, no one knew what the Reapers were. They only came around to naming them a year or so after they first appeared to tear our world apart. Even now, Reapers remain in the dark and hold their secrets against their chests tight as if Weave could steal them and expose them to the world. All that was known about these creatures when they arrived what that their claws should be avoided at all times, their fingers seeming as if they've been replaced by sharp needle-like blades. Their eyes were dyed with the color of blood, constantly watching their prey with crimson, unfeeling eyes before they attacked. They seemed to use string-like weapons to form their bodies as well as defend themselves from their newest threat, the Weavers. These pitch black strings were called Threads, and were one of the largest inspirations behind the Weavers. Their cries were as if they were the mix between a raccoon and a fox, giving our shrill screams as if speaking to one another casually while they tore open bodies.

They were given the name Reapers by accident, Weave having leaked information about something by the name of Project Reaper. They never mentioned much more than the name, and many jumped at the name by calling the monsters Reapers. Even after Weave explained that Project Reaper had more to do with the Weavers than the Reapers, people continued to call the red eyed beasts Reapers. Now, after Project Reaper's realization as well as the sub-Project's creation affectionately named Project Grim Reaper, those who hear the name of these Projects are pushed to believe that they have a connection to the monsters that took their families from them. Thus, the identities of these Projects have been kept somewhat secret.

Reapers have revealed three different variations of themselves, yet no one denies the possibility of there being many more.

Grunts:

These are the original Reapers, their figures being the simplest of all. They stand at about 6 feet tall (approx. 1.8 meters) on average and they often have a lanky build. While they lack in physical strength, they are extremely nimble and quick. They have the most humanoid appearance of all types of Reapers, and their cries are long and drawn out. Their eyes contain no special markings, nor does their body. They appear to have cloaks that trail just above their heels. With jagged jaws and no visible teeth, researchers wonder how these creatures eat solid foods. Rank 3.

Elites:

The second Reaper type to reveal itself, having appeared only two years after the original attack. These Reapers often stand at 6'4'' (approx. 1.9 meters) and are much more muscled than the Grunts. These Reapers tend to take the brute force of attacks and let the other types do most of the attacking. Elites have subtle white dots lining their ears, tongue, wrists and ankles but these dots are not always there thus they are not a reliable way of recognizing this type. Rather, it's better to pay attention to their form than anything. They deviate from the Grunts in a way that they have no cloak, instead they have small horns on their foreheads as well as spike-like blades on their elbows. Rank 4.

Nobles:

The third type of Reapers and also one of the largest humanoid types standing at an average of 6'7'' (approx. 2 meters). Their figures are very similar to that of the Elite, yet the horns are much larger and come in many unique formations. They are often white, and their bodies are usually speckled with white dotted markings around their faces and limbs. They seem to have a tail similar to a bird's, yet it looks more like a long cloth trailing behind them. These Reapers have more of a lanky build, preferring swift attacks to brute strength. Their eyes tend to have white pupils, but this is only the case for approximately 85% of Nobles. Those without the white pupils often have more white markings than those with. Rank 5.5.

Reapers are known for how hard they are to kill without special training. The easiest way to kill one is to either destroy or remove their Core. Weavers are taught to retrieve the Core and bring it back to base in order to be converted into that of a Weaver's Core. Though, if the Weaver would be in danger of losing their life in doing so it is recommended to simply destroy the Core to lower the risk.
