Character Creation

Waverly

Nah...
How to create your character

Creating a character in Midsummer Winds is pretty much a straight forward process and doesn't really differ from most other RP's. Just grab the code for the character sheet below and start coming up with your character, right? Well, yes, sort of, but before you get started I would like to take a moment to inform you of a few things to keep in mind when you create your character. Read the list below to know what things you should keep in mind when you make your character.

  • Read up on the Lore! Try not to make characters that defy the Lore.
  • Pay attention to the other characters! If you're making your character and there already other are characters around, try to differ yours from theirs while still keeping them somewhat compatible.
  • Make it believable and realistic! Don't make your characters have items or skills that doesn't make sense.
  • Leave room for advancement! Make characters that can develop and change during the course of the game, both in terms of personality and skill.
  • You're not the special snowflake! Remember, you're sharing the spotlight with your fellow players. Making a character that craves attention or doesn't give others attention is just rude.
  • Think twice before making Hybrid characters! I know the idea of tickle most people's interest. But before you choose to go with one consider if it is really needed for your character.
  • Balance your drawbacks and qualities! Simply put, I don't want anyone to have too crazy combos of qualities and skills, nor do I want people to have crazy flaws and drawbacks either.
  • Remember where we start! The game starts on a farm in northern Midhalpad, try to keep that in mind. Your character should be there for a good reason.

Oh! And name the Character Post "Character Name - Player Name" :)

Character Example:

    Illwa Aagbiornsdottir
    Midhalpadian Shieldmaiden, 21

Illwa.jpg

An excellent rider from Midhalpad that values honour and loyalty above all else. Still living with her family on their farm and being way overdue with marriage, she works hard in every task given her to meet people's expections of her. Or perhaps those expectations are actually her own?

    Personae

Appearance:
Illwa stands a few inches taller than the average woman in Midhalpad. She's got long, ash-blonde hair that is always arranged in two heavy braids that are often tied up to not be in the way. Tied into her hair are leather bands with wooden beads, and copper barrettes of typical Midhalpadian fashion. Her eyes are light, almost greyish, blue and makes her look both misty and cold along with her pale, and slightly freckled skin. Her nose is thin but sort of long, and could be described as angular, just as the rest of her angelic face.

Just as anyone Illwa dresses according to the occation. But when she gets to choose she always goes for brightly coloured fabrics rather than those of natural colours such as brown and grey. While on the farm she is often seen wearing a bright yellow apron-skirt with copper brooches holding it together. But when hunting or travelling she often wears a finely trimmed leather armour and fur-cloak, along with tall hide boots and a leather helmet with a steel visor. She almost always wears a big leather belt in which she hangs keys, scissors, her knife and dagger and other various tools, as is custom among women in Midhalpad. In addition to her barrettes she wears some jewellery in form of rings, bracelets, brooches, beads and a big necklace. However, she never wears earrings.

Equipment:
Illwa owns various tools that she uses around the farm. In addition to these she also owns a few sets of clothes and a set of leather armour. She owns her own horse, Fjalar, who is a brown stallion of the Midhalpadian breed, which means big working-horses with almost wholly fur and long thick manes. As many Midhalpadians she carries several sets of weapons in a symbolic fashion, having named and sworn to use each weapon on certain foes only. She owns as much as three sets of weapons;

Short sword and Shield – Draephand, her sword, is old but still sharp. It once belonged to her grandmother and was sworn by her only to shed the blood of living men but never in vain.

Hunting Spear – Lynnstrika, her most trusted weapon and the only one she really ever uses. She's sworn to only ever use it to slay animals and beasts.

Dagger – Ettersgand, is a steel dagger with fine inscriptions. It is very old and did also belong to her grandmother before her. It is sworn to only ever slay the otherwordly.

Personality:
Illwa is helpful and friendly in most cases, and are more often than not a warm and open person that is not unfamiliar of laughing and smiling. However, if there is one thing she hates it is when people are telling jokes on other peoples behalf and it goes to far. With that being said, it should come as no surprise that she respects people despite of their flaws. She is the sort of person that values honour and duty above most other things, and is certainly loyal.

But even if she is a likeable person most of the time, she is nothing but cold to people she dislikes or that have wronged her. Her trust is easily gained but hard to regain once lost, which means that once she dislikes someone, it usually lasts for a long time.

    Biography

Place of birth: Northern Midhalpad

Kind of people: Midhalpadian

Background:
Illwa is the daughter of Aagbiorn and Vidja of Grimsland farm in northern Midhalpad. She has only one sibling, her younger brother Varg. Illwa and Varg has grown up together and are the best of friends. Illwa has always been protective of her little brother, even if he is only two years younger than her. Varg has always been sort of a missing link in the family. See, for generations the men descending from Joar Tenfoot (Illwas great, great, great grandfather) has been extraordinarily large and heavy set, raising many questions weather Joar Tenfoot was actually a troll or not. But Varg of the latest generation lack these qualities, he is sort of short, slender, frail and sports the same blonde hair as his sister.

Illwa still lives on the farm but has no family of her own, despite being of well of age. Proper suitors has never been easy to find (one of the drawbacks with living in northern Midhalpad) and Illwa has always been needed on the farm, so she's been kept waiting. She wouldn't mind it if it wasn't for the shame of it all – each and every person she meets as of late seems to agree; a woman her age should already be married!

    Abilities

Qualities:
Illwa is both quick and strong. She is excellent on the horseback and is a decent hunter and fighter that knows her way around several types of weapons. She has a good knowledge of the various animals and plants that are found in Midhalpad. She is used to surviving in the wild for shorter periods and knows how to read tell-tale signs in nature to navigate, forecast weather. She also knows her way around a farm and is quite used to house-keeping and cooking.

Drawbacks:
Illwa is unable to both read and write, which makes her lack some knowledge that litterate people usually have. She can also be a bit naïve around people she doesn't know, and her trusting nature is easily to take advantage of. She is also sometimes very narrow sighted and fails to see the full picture.

Special Abilities: (If any)
None.
