History: Jane Fisher was born and raised in Wilton by her mother. Her father skipped town after having Jane, leaving her in her mother’s care two months after she was born. For this reason, Jane grew up in a tense household. Her mother had to work a fair bit to keep the two of them fed and clothed and often wasn’t around, leaving Jane largely to fend for herself.
Jane also hit puberty earlier than most girls in her year, growing taller and filling out faster than most of her classmates. Because of this, Jane began experiencing harassment at a younger age. Girls spoke in malicious whispers about how Jane was doomed to become a whore who coasted by on her looks. Guys made gross comments about the size of her assets. When Jane was 15, a man in a car pulled up to her and gave her his phone number, winking and asking her to call him. After that incident, Jane was no longer allowed to walk home from school and instead waited for her mother to come pick her up from school.
At age 17, Jane could no longer put up with any more shit from her peers and took matters in her own hands. She began taking physical conditioning classes, lifting classes, advanced lifting classes, really any workout she could possibly sign up for. And by leaps and bounds, Jane grew stronger and more physically fit. Somewhat unnerved by the sight of Jane’s now highly sculpted physique, her classmates backed off and gave her a grudging respect. With this breathing room, Jane became more confident, and therefore more social.
Once she graduated high school, Jane went to a state college on a scholarship with a great amount of excitement, intending to study Biology. Classes went well, and Jane found a number of people she connected with. Her interests also expanded, however, she became particularly interested in the paranormal. It soon became something of a hobby of hers, browsing paranormal forums online and reading obsessively about everyone’s encounters with the unexplainable. This hobby interfered with her studies occasionally, as she sometimes stayed up too late and fell asleep during lecture, or avoided the basement of the library, having psyched herself into thinking she was being watched. But by and large, her hobby didn’t affect her life much. Jane continued her studies at the normal rate and was more or less a normal college student.
However, she ended up being unable to complete her senior year when her mother’s sister called to inform her that her mother had a nervous breakdown at work. Bidding college a regretful goodbye, she returned home to care for her mother. To support her mother, Jane took on a variety of jobs, working as a waitress, cashier, and more before deciding to work on the Wilton police force. She’s been on the force for about five years now, this being the longest she has ever stuck with a job. She’s learned to appreciate her job in fact and strives to become better at it in all ways. Jane works with Trent Malloy a good amount and is on relatively good terms with the man.
The tentative peace that Jane has built for herself is swiftly unraveling with the recent death of Abigail Chapman. Jane’s amateur familiarity with the paranormal has her set on edge, though she doesn’t dare believe it. She hopes that she’ll be able to handle the days to come in the investigation.
Personality: Jane is good-natured, and fairly social. She enjoys joking and playing around when she’s not on the job and prefers to keep things lighthearted when she can. However, she has a tendency of bottling up things that bother her and then letting forth an explosion when it becomes too much for her to bear. Also, after gaining confidence with her body, Jane has become more flirtatious. She also has a weakness for girly cocktails.
Goals: Jane hopes to take care of her mother and make her proud by solving this case and finding the killer. She also hopes to one-day return to school to complete her degree.
