Eitr
Eitr is a naturally occurring mineral that functions as the power source for magic engines. It is crystalline in nature and there are a few variants with differing uses:
Green Eitr - The most stable and abundant form of Eitr, Green Eitr is used to power most magic tools, from cars to stoves. This form of Eitr is found in all around the world.
Purple Eitr - This is the form of Eitr used to power magic weapons and clockwork dolls. It is somewhat more volatile and somewhat rarer than Green Eitr but also contains more energy. This form of Eitr is primarily mined in Gristan, Northern Allechlande, and southern Volstad.
Red Eitr - The most volatile form of Eitr, Red Eitr has yet to be put to practical use due to how dangerous it is to handle. However, research is being carried out on both the possibility of weaponizing it as well as making it safer so it can be used commercially. This form of Eitr is found primarily in Southern Gristan and Albia.
Blue Eitr - This form of Eitr is the only form suitable to be used in the sentience circuits of clockwork dolls due to its exceptional conductivity, it is only found in Albia.
One thing to note, is that while raw Eitr is abundant, it cannot be used as a power source without being first processed and made into magic cells.
Magic Engines
Rather than being something that someone can directly manipulate, magic is harnessed via the use of magic engines. Magic engines are machines that convert the energy within Eitr to produce effects upon the world. These effects vary depending upon the design of the engine, everything from producing flames and heat to allowing airships to fly. As such, the use of engines in everyday settings is becoming more and more common, especially as engine technology advances and they become more efficient and less expensive.
Even so, the primary applications of engine technology are for transportation, military purposes, and in the production of clockwork dolls. In terms of transportation, engine technology has lead to a revolution in transportation technology, allowing for more types of vehicles as well as increasing efficiency, safety, and speed. Engine technology has also changed warfare as it has allowed for powered combat suits, combat dolls, a greater variety of vehicles, and a more reliable power source for existing technologies.

Magic tools are a subsection of engine technology, specifically being engines small enough to be used and carried by individuals. At this time, magic tools are not very widespread due to the high cost involved in powering them as well as the high cost of the base unit itself, though research to lower these costs is underway. At the current point in time the most common type of magic tools are magic weapons, though other types do exist, such as Eitr-powered beauty devices, fire-starters, and others.
