Character name: Why'nn Canthet

Age: 20

Gender: Female

Race: Human

Deity: Jergal

Alignment: LN

Class: Cleric

Native Country: Thay

Physical Appearance: Standing only 5'7", the pale-skinned woman almost looks too young for her station. Her hair, long and silky black, contrasts with her complexion while her blue eyes seem the only striking feature on an otherwise-plain visage. Often found dressed in gray armor, battle-ready with her sword at her side, she only occasionally relaxes enough to don the robes of her holy order.

In 1358DR Szass Tam began a series of experiments in a stronghold deep within the Sunrise Mountains. The creations that stemmed from these experiments were horrid. However, most used slaves or the corpses of those already deceased. One used red wizards of necromancy.

5 powerful women were chosen to copulate and conceive with undead creatures. Unfortunately for them (fortunately for the world at large), all five died during pregnancy and their fetuses did not survive. Another 5 were chosen in 1360DR. This time, they conceived human children but were charged with necrotic energy throughout their pregnancies. The children born from this were decrepit and ill and did not survive a day.

The same experiment was run in 1362DR. Another 5 were chosen. This time the mothers were only charged with necrotic energy in their last month of pregnancy. All five birthed healthy children. Szass Tam ordered the children taken from their mothers. Each was fused with a powerful undead creature and a lesser one to stabilize the merging.

Wight, vampire, wraith, lich, and visage. These mergings drastically affected the babes. Each had also been merged with a common ghoul, causing all five to crave the flesh of humans. Deeming them too much work for little reward, the order of necromancy gave each child to a different, yet possibly important, ally.

The wraith went to the church of Velsharoon, the vampire was kept by its mother (as it was the easiest to control), the wight was given to the church of Bane, the lich was killed, and the visage was given to Mistress Zaltya Canthet, head cleric of the church of Jergal in Bezantur.

Why'nn was given to the undead clergy as Zaltya cared nothing for raising children. They didn't particularly care for her one way or the other, but they made sure she was kept alive. As she grew, she endeared herself to them as she was curious and seemed to live for knowledge. One lich, Emila, more or less adopted Why'nn as her own.

As the girl knew no other humans her friends were the spiders. She survived on rats beyond what the liches managed to remember to give her.

Why'nn was 6 when Zaltya came to visit her. In the process, the head cleric stepped on and killed a spider. Out of rage, Why'nn charged and pushed the elderly woman, screaming words she did not know she had within her. A gash appeared where Why'nn touched the older cleric.

Instead of being angered, Zaltya was overjoyed. From that point on Why'nn became Zaltya's apprentice. As her appearance was unsightly to most she had to keep most of her head bound in bandages when she was around other humans. Zaltya also took her around the Monks of the Long Death and had her sit in on many a questioning, including one of a necropolis born.

Why'nn was 8 when she took her first life. The girl on the table was only a little younger than Why'nn but, as Why'nn had never formed attachments to any living beings she felt no pain, guilt, or moral quandary at the death. However, it did give her the opportunity for something absolutely wonderful. She could assume the girl's face. So she did, meaning she no longer had to hide her face.

At this point she thrived. She learned much from the monks and from the undead clergy. That was until she turned 14 and lashed out at Zaltya. With her growing mastery of herself and the prayers she had learned she did not feel she had to bow to the old woman any longer. She was beaten savagely for this insolence.

This began two weeks of pain and punishment. With little to eat, barely any sleep, and harsh physical punishments, Why'nn was forced to train until the resistance was either suppressed or beaten out of her. After that was accomplished, Zaltya moved her apprentice to the temple in Bezantur for more intense training.

Still, the appearance of a young, decidedly fresh-faced and slightly beautiful cleric in the temple of Jergal did draw some attention, mostly unwanted. Questions were being asked, but the war between the council and Szass Tam quickly pulled away the rumor mongers.

Though the temples in Bezantur mostly threw their lot in with the council, the temple of Jergal remained neutral in the conflict. They had the luxury of doing so, as Jergal would have no issue with either side and Bezantur was far enough away from the conflict it didn't matter.

In fact, this part of Why'nn's life was very peaceful. It remained that way for two years. Two years to the day since she was moved to the temple, a shadow darkened the door.

A paladin, a strange sight in Thay to be sure, but a paladin of Jergal. He was welcomed, though the man was clearly an outlander. He demanded to know why the temple had not fought against the forces of Szass Tam as the zulkir of necromancy was creating unsanctioned undead on a daily basis. Why'nn tried to explain to him the intricacies of the war, but he did not listen.

What made matters worse was, after her explanation, he seemed convinced she was being kept against her will. Instead of doing as Why'nn requested, leave quietly, he grabbed the young woman and dragged her from the temple, despite the fight she put up.

Eventually, he knocked her unconscious and rode away with her, escaping the Thayan borders and riding into Aglarond and keeping her there despite her repeated attempts to run away. There they hid until her hair began to grow and was long enough to pass as a non-Thayan.

In those couple months, Why'nn found herself begrudgingly coming to like the paladin Amriel. By the time Amriel paid for their travel from Velprintalar to Marsember, Why'nn no longer attempted to leave. During their voyage, Amriel revealed that he intended to take her with him to his temple in Tilverton. As they were both in the service of the Lord Jergal it only seemed logical.

But feelings blossomed between them and, while on the road between Marsember and Tilverton, the two laid together. Such intense emotions Why'nn had never felt before, nor did she know they could exist. That night, she decided to reveal to Amriel what she truly was.

Upon seeing her true form he screamed curses, calling her an abomination, a monster. He beat her, almost killed her. When she was bloodied, struggling to breathe, and unable to retain consciousness, he stabilized her. Instead of taking her with him to Tilverton, he left her on the steps of a temple of Kelemvor in a small town, clothed in nothing but a black traveling cloak. She had affected her disguise again but he could not stand to be around her.

He hoped the Kelemvorites would do what he didn't have the heart to and kill her. However, they had no indication of her origins so they did not.

Instead, they cured her wounds and took her in as a student and acolyte. Out of fear, she went with them and followed their ways. She did not speak to anyone except Nessa Crul, her direct teacher and the one who had healed her instead of killing her, and the head priest, a man named Charis Thrum. Even then, she barely spoke to them.

Nessa came to see Why'nn as a younger sister of sorts and tried to help the girl, but Why'nn was so terrified by Amriel's reaction that she kept everything bottled up inside.

Five years did little to convince the girl to open up, but she was diligent in her studies and duties. Her silence unnerved some worshipers as well as the clergy she did not speak to. However, she at least began to attempt speaking with the occasional priest she recognized. It appeared she was either so shy or so nervous with anything to do with her voice that she would barely speak above a whisper.

It was around this time she revealed to Nessa and Charis that she had initially been a cleric of Jergal in training. They had no issue with this and allowed her to construct a small shrine to the Forgotten One in her living quarters. Still, they instilled in her their teachings.

Not long after that, Charis decided that Why'nn, now an adult, should leave the safety and comfort of the temple to meet more humans and make emotional connections with the living.

Delrick does have access to the following, which would give most people a slightly uneasy feeling when around him, and could cause animals to shy away from him, but his natural charisma mostly compensates for this:

Name:

Laearyn Aleurden

Player: KalenNighteyes

Alanna_zps5f290d73.jpg

Basics
Basics

Age: 140

Gender: Female

Race: Wood Elf

Deity: Mielikki, Umberlee (see background for info regarding Umberlee)

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Class: Ranger

Native Country: The Chondalwood (Chondath)

Background

Main Backstory: Laearyn Aleurden, a wood elf, is originally from the Chondalwood. The Chondalwood is home to creatures such as satyrs, centaurs, and voadkyn (wood giants). It is also home to an organization know as the Eldreth Veluuthra. Consisting of elves, this organization's purpose is to see the removal of all humans from Faerun.

Laearyn had three childhood friends named Adren, Faera, and Sylrel. The three of them had countless "adventures" in the forest and were always exploring the area around their home. When they became old enough, they were each trained with bows and became a group of scouts. Their tasks were anything from finding a suitable location to set up camp, or scouting out to the edges of the forest to see the goings on and report back to their superiors.

The Eldreth Veluuthra had offered membership to Laearyn and her friends. None of them were inclined to join, but after the meeting, Sylrel always seemed somewhat distant toward her friends.

On one such scouting expedition, the group were set upon by a wood giant, and Adren was killed. Unknown to Laearyn, the giant had actually been sent to kill her, but ended up killing their friend. Faera, who had grown to love Adren, disappeared in the chaos of the fight. Laearyn spent weeks trying to track down Faera, but she could find no sign of her friend.

After the loss of her two friends and her only remaining one becoming so distant, Laearyn, at the age of 135 bid farewell to her family and other friends, and left the Chondalwood in search of seeing more than just the woodland she called home and hopes that in her travels she will one day be reunited with her friend Faera.

Extra Info

Extra Stuffs:

Languages: Common, Elvish, Dwarvish, Giant

Deities: Follows (not devout) Mielikki, goddess of the forest. She also believes in Umberlee, but chooses not to follow her.

Personality: Due to growing up in the forest, Laearyn has developed somewhat of a natural curiosity about things. When she encounters new things, she has a particularly annoying (to others) habit of touching the thing she has never seen before. Aside from her natural curiosity, Laearyn is usually a kind and charismatic person. She's willing to help those in need, and is willing to go to extreme lengths to make sure they are safe.

Goals: She wants to find her friend, Faera. Faera disappeared during a fight with the wood giant which killed Adren, the elf she fell in love with. While looking for her friend, Laearyn is also intent upon experiencing as many new things as she can while she travels through Faerun.

Secrets: Laearyn once found herself among a group of pirates in Westgate. They told her of a goddess called Umberlee who governed the seas. Enamored by the idea of the pirates, Laearyn offered them her skills, to which they accepted. Once she set sail with them, they offered to mark her with the symbol of Umberlee: a blue-green wave splitting to the left and right. She accepted and the symbol was tattooed on her left shoulder along with a dragon skull and crossbones tattooed on her right shoulder-blade.

For four months she sailed with the pirates as they pillaged and plundered their way around the Sea of Fallen Stars. It wasn't until one night when a patron in a tavern caught sight of her tattoo and explained how Umberlee, while ruler of the seas, was a cruel and unmerciful goddess. The person told her stories of how Umberlee enjoyed drowning her victims as though it were a game to her. This made Laearyn question her time among the pirates and she decided to slip away quietly in the night from her pirate companions. In effort to keep her pirate life hidden from others, she always makes sure to cover both tattoos so as not to anger or frighten those she meets.

Unknown to Laearyn, her friend Sylrel had joined the Eldreth Veluuthra and was responsible for the wood giant finding and killing Adren.

NOTE: Technically until Laearyn is asked or decides to mention it, her backstory should not be known by anyone but her :P So I'm good with people seeing all this info :P Also...I JUST discovered all the nifty stuff you can do with BBCode. Figured I'd try it here since her bio is kinda long :P

Character name: Alton Belwrick

Age: 35

Gender: Male

Race: Halfling

Deity: Bahamut

Alignment: Lawful Good

Class: Paladin

Native Country: Luiren

Physical Appearance:

halfling_paladin_by_fstitz.jpg

Background: Alton Belwrick was born in the Lluirwood in a small village of stronghearts. His older sister, Fayla, was his closest friend, but the call of exploration was too great to him. When he was twenty, he fell in with a tribe of barbarians and left his homeland. He spent five years among the barbarians to train and become one himself. Needless to say, a halfling does not make the most viable barbarian and most made fun of him when he trained with the large weapons. He, however, became fairly well skilled with a longsword and shield.

One night after a successful raid on a town, the group came back to the camp with the noble leader of a town. Seeing as how he was beginning to feel highly outcast by the barbarians, Alton decided to rescue the noble woman and escape the camp with her. In this process, they were spotted by the son of the tribe's chieftain. As the pair escaped, the noble woman, whose name was Cadence, thanked the halfling repeatedly on their trip back to town.

Upon arriving, Cadence gave Alton the title of Noble Knight and commanded him to seek out a temple dedicated to Bahamut. There he would be trained as a paladin and would be fit to join her court as a personal guard. Alton thanked Cadence and did as she instructed.

His training was long and hard, but eventually he came out the other side, enlightened to the power Bahamut would bestow on his most loyal followers. Five years past during his training time and he returned to the town where Cadence lived, only to find out that she had been killed in her sleep, by some sort of assassin. The new lord vowed to uphold Alton's noble knight status, but did not need the halfling among his personal guard. Instead, the lord commanded him to go and serve Bahamut and to use his title as he saw fit.

Alton wandered from place to place, taking odd jobs where he could. Protecting traveling caravans, ridding the land of goblins, or even purging some pesky undead from a town. It wasn't until one fateful day when he was in the city of Beluir that he met a halfling girl named Eraelle. The two fell in love. Alton knew that some of the priests of his order would not like to hear this news, so he kept it secret.

It was shortly after this Alton was sent on a mission into the Underdark for his order. He was kidnapped by duregar, held and tortured in their stronghold for three weeks. He managed to escape, but the experience left him with various scars on his body. The most severe of these on his face going from above his right eye, across his nose, and down under his left eye.

When he was 35, Alton was given a very vague vision from Bahamut about some growing danger in the south. Much to his dismay, Alton was not given much information as to what is going on or where it was going to happen. Alton wandered among towns in the south for a few months and finally found himself entering the town of Orlane where he had once met an inn keeper there. Maybe he would have more information for him.

Alton's Goals are as follows:

  • Alton wants to serve his god to the best of his abilities. He wishes to one day reunite with his family.
  • I would like to see the barbarian chieftain seek retribution for the death of his son when Alton escaped. I think it would be fun to see.
  • Alton wants to eventually marry Eraelle.

Secrets:

  • Alton, while he has sworn himself to the service of Bahamut, he fell in love with a halfling female named Eraelle. He keeps this a secret from all he meets, especially priests of his order.
  • Unknown to Alton, his family, except his sister, have all been killed by the barbarians he escaped from. Part of the chieftain's plans for retribution.
  • Another secret he knows is the fact he killed the son of the chieftain when he escaped the camp. This is something Cadence promised to keep secret as well and took to her grave.
  • Cadence is not dead. She was actually recaptured by the barbarians and has been their prisoner for nearly a year.

People from his past:

  • Eraelle, the halfling he fell in love with.
  • Fayla, his sister and last living relative.
  • Laramie, the priest of Bahamut who started Alton on his path to becoming a paladin.
  • Cadence. To his knowledge, she is dead. She is the one he rescued from the barbarians.
  • Thrabak, the barbarian chieftain. Alton killed his son.

Personality and such:

  • Alton's fondest memory is when he met Eraelle. He will never forget that day.
  • Alton, while usually a nice and charismatic person due to being a paladin (and a halfling), has a tendancy to be rough with the people who wrong him or whom he needs to torture for information. Sometimes, if the deeds these people do are bad enough, Alton will just kill them outright. Questions be damned.
  • Alton has been known to indulge in alcohol from time to time when relaxing in an inn. Perhaps a bit more than he normally should.

He was ordered by the ship's captain, Cyd "The Dragon" Blackwood, to track down Laearyn, a former member of the ship's crew, and a former flame of Laearyn. Emerson does not consider himself a former flame. The reason for his nickname "Swiftblades" is from the fact he wields two rapiers when in full combat and his is very quick on his feet. Not much else is currently known about Emerson.

Race: Goliath

Deity: Gorum, God of Strength

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Class: Barbarian

Native Country: Orsraun Mountains, Turmish

Physical Appearance: Stands at 8'7" tall. Bald, but has a black beard. Light gray skin, blue eyes. Black tattoos run across his body. He bears a large scar across his chest from the fight with the herd mate he slew.

latest

Background: Tohgar was born in the mountains of Turmish and grew up learning the ways of the barbarian tribes. Shortly before his 25th year, he slew one of his herd mates. Despite this being a challenge of strength between the two for who was strongest, the elders of the herd decided it was better for them to banish him. For the cowards were fearful he would grow even more powerful and eventually challenge one of them for their chair. While the customs of this goliath herd were crude, the tradition was respected.

Now banished from his home, Tohgar seeks ways to earn more strength from the gods so he may one day return to his herd and right the wrong that was done to him. (Sorry this is short compared to my others. I will work on expanding it.)
