My best friend of nine years is a Hufflepuff. I get super mama bear protective of her sometimes. I would imagine the same would happen in a romantic relationship. A lot of poeple think that Hufflepuff and Slytherin are the least alike houses and so a relationship between them might work out perfectly. They say opposites attract, right?

OKAY. So, I believe the above is enough evidence that a slytherin x hufflepuff relationship will work. Another advantage of their houses is the distinct contrast in personality as this opens up endless opportunities to throw different conflicts and angst within the RP.


Essentially, you have the fundamentals of my idea. An unlikely friendship and blossoming relationship. I'd imagine that the relationship would take hella long to grow, so we might want to start at the very start of when the romantic feelings start, so we don't spend ages just as friends. However we can if you want.


One thing I really wanted to include was house discrimination. The other hufflepuffs and slytherins defintiyl wouldn't approve at first once they heard of the relationship. This could go as far as bullying (More likely to the H, however I suppose a gang of really empowered H's would work against a single S.), and perhaps they break up as they don't want their partner to be 'hated' or ridiculed by his housemates etc.. Idk, just a idea. Not sure on how I feel on it tbh.


Thinking about the characters, the S would most likely be a bit controlling and possessive over the H, which I like the idea of. (I'd say more dominant, but people link that with the bedroom.) Speaking of bedroom stuff, where do you want to do the RP? If we're doing it here, then PG13, if we want to do more than that, I have email, kik or whatsapp to use.

Sorry, I was eating! I'm going out with some friends in about 30mins just a heads up!


I love the sound of that dynamic so much! I'm a huge fan of couples where one is very possesive and controlling. It's a good catalyst for tension too if the Slytherin oversteps his bounds and gets too controlling.


I'm a huge fan of character and relationship development so if you don't mind I think starting with them right before becoming friends would be great. Maybe they get paired up in a class and the Slytherin likes to tease and pick on the Hufflepuff but he notices that for some reason he can't bring himself to be truly cruel and whenever someone else tries to pick on the Hufflepuff he gets possesive like "that's mine to pick on, not yours".


It'd be a lot of angst with them both being in denial about their feelings for each other, all the while becoming closer friends and then eventually admitting their romantic feelings. The Slytherin's friends would exile him for associating so closely with a (presumably not pureblood) Hufflepuff and the Hufflepuff's friends might try to get them to stop seeing each other. This might eventually lead to the Hufflepuff ignoring the Slytherin for a while because he thinks it'll make him happier, but really the Slytherin has never been more miserable.


Anyway, that's just my current thought process. Any other suggestions?

Can I just say, the line "that's mine to pick on, not yours" just made me fanboy in real life. Which I'm slightly shaken up about.

Exactly what I was thinking about the dynamic. Also, I'm fine with the development. Some people want to rush it, but I prefer to build it up too! Sounds like we'll get on really well.

It seems like we're pretty set on the relationship dynamic and how we want it to develop, then. So that's cool. Can I ask, did you have a prefered character for this? Ideally, I like the idea of playing the Hufflepuff, but I can change, or double, if you did too..

I'd love to play the Slytherin! Hopefully I can make you fanboy a lot more in the RP c;

I was able to get some basic character stuff done tonight! I'm going to bed now but I'll hopefully be able to get my CS done in the morning! Until then here's a shitty tumblr aesthetic board thing I made and some small facts about him ^^

• loves winter and everything that comes with it: snow, hot butterbeer, christmas lights, holiday music


• has two pet rats that he cares about more than anything in the world probably


• I had a tough time deciding between longer wavy hair or an undercut. if you'd prefer him to have an undercut I can go with that (or he can get an undercut during the RP?)


• very charming and charismatic but in that "hate to love him" kind of way


• bisexual homoromantic, dates girls just for the fun of it even though he's not into any of them romantically and ends up breaking some hearts, has never been romantically attracted to anyone before the Hufflepuff so it confuses him and puts him into a state of denial


• was Slytherin's center chaser since his second year and was in line to become captain before he was nearly beat to death by a bludger. there's no solid evidence, but everyone knows his rival from gryffindor charmed the bludger. his parents won't let him play on the team anymore but he still participates in the unoffical practice matches they often have with Ravenclaw's team and helps the team practice. he's considered the unoffical vice captain (and could totally take Hufflepuff on a romantic broomstick ride)


So how's he sound so far? If you have suggestions or anything let me know!

He sounds perfect, and just for the record, I like the wavy hair.

I'm fine with starting while you finish up! Are we beginning with them being paired up in a shared class? I think Herbology or Charms might be best for that. Ben is great at charms and would be very quick to tease Alex for not getting things right (or get competitive if Alex is also good at charms) whereas he hates Herbology but knows a lot about magical plants so he would probably make Alex do all the work while still critiquing him. I think Herbology might be a bit more interesting but what do you think?

The Herbology sounds like a good idea to me, Alex isn't the smartest kid in class and would most likely need someone informing him of what to do - even if the delivery is somewhat harsh. We can always include charms later in the RP, I also think I'd love to include potions at some point, especially the idea of Polyjuice RP as it seems extremely fun to RP.

That sounds great! I haven't put much thought into incorporating Polyjuice but that sounds like it'd be a lot of fun! Ben isn't very good in Potions class so it'd be funny if Alex was better than him. I also think it'd be interesting if they brewed Amortentia and realized that one of the scents was related to each other

Oh and are we starting at the beginning of their seventh year?
