Friday, September 4th | 2:05 P.M | Game Day VS Larraby Lions

"All students report to the Raynor gymnasium for the start of the pep rally, Go Panthers!" Principal Kalter's voice echoed from the loud speaker throughout the halls of the large school. Her words marking the start of what could be the final crazy season for the Dillon Panthers. The bell rang, signaling passing time for 9th period. Though no one was headed to their class. It was game day, and that meant 9th period was cut for the pep rally. The once silent halls was now filled with the hooting and hollering of the excited kids, banging on lockers, loud chatter and an excessive amount of yelling. Everyone was shoving their way to hurry and find good seats in the large gym. Some girls could be seen walking around with their boyfriend's numbers on their cheeks, or some people simply sported numbers of their favorite players. All around, people were wearing their Panther Football gear, and the extreme fans had painted their bodies blue, white and yellow. Towards the entrance of the massive gym was a large banner that read "GO DILLON PANTHERS!" and inside of the gym was a mass amount of Dillon Panther football decorations. Blue, white and yellow balloon's, a mass of banners all with similar words of support, and a small podium, erected in the back of the gym for the coach to speak with a panther logo nailed to the front of it. This gym was built large and to fit the mass of students in the school for the sole purpose of pep rallies for all sports, though today it was about football. Hell, when was it not. To the left side of the podium stood the football team, a roster of 56 players all arranged in rows, packed next to each other wearing their Jerseys and sporting wide smiles, To the right side of the podium stood all of the cheerleaders, wearing their cheer uniforms and the bright smile they had to keep on. The left side of the bleachers had been reserved for the marching band as they had already begun beating away at their drums and doing the routine they had practiced all week and month prior to the start of the school year. All 3 squads had been summoned a period before the pep rally so they could get organized before the waves of students came. Coach Denton stood in front of the football players with his arms folded, nodding to everyone who walked in. He was chewing away angrily at a piece of gum. It was clear he didn't want to be here, he had a game to prepare for. A loss tonight could make or break his career forever in a town like this. Especially for the season opener and this struggling team. The players had been practicing twice a day in the summer, since the end of the school year last year. The season never truly ends. As the bleachers began to fill up the chatter and noise level in the gym increased by the second. Students all over were frantically motioning for friends to come over and sit beside them. Though seats were getting harder to find by the second. Principal Kalter waited on the podium for all of the people to enter, tapping her finger on the podium and checking her watch ever couple of minutes. Whether all of the students were here or not, the pep rally would begin at 2:20 and there would be no going back.

Corbin stood in the front row where all of the starting football players stood. He was pumping his fist into the air, his bright white smile locked on to his excited face, patting his number with his left hand. There was no better day then game day. "LET'S GOO!" he shouted at the top of his lungs, still pumping his fist as the gym filled. He examined each entering face, there was few people he didn't know in this school. And there was little to no people that didn't know him. He waved to any of the people that called out of his name, and in between that he would give a "WOOOO!" and a "GO PANTHERS!". There was no calming him now.

He looked around at his teammates to the left and right and behind him.
"It's going to be a great season this year boys." he hollered out over the chattering in the gym. "My last year wearing this jersey and I'll be damned if I don't get a ring at the end of it." he said again, referring to the state championship that they had yet to win. They had been so close last year only to lose in the first round of the play-offs to the same team they were playing today, the Larraby Lions. Though he wasn't nervous at all, they were going to kill them. This season he had no choice but to go harder then he ever had. After that he would go play for his dream college, FSU and then make the big money in the NFL. Or so he hoped.

Corbin continued to examine the gym. slowly growing impatient. It felt like they were standing there for hours. He turned over to the cheerleaders, seeing what they were doing in the mean time, scanning their pretty faces one by one. He caught glimpses of his childhood girl best friend Stefani and gave her a slight smirk. His eyes then moved on to Vanna, the Cheer captain who was looking stunning as usual in her cheer uniform. And then his eyes landed on Briar, who was looking absolutely delicious, a multitude of filthy thoughts flashing through his mind as he examined her. He felt a thrum of motivation, he had to play an excellent game for all of these pretty girls to see. Including Kimberly, his ex who even though wasn't a cheerleader, he still had to show he could do just fine without her. Though he was just barely scraping by. And one of the reasons he was doing so horribly came into view as he looked to the next cheerleader the one that changed him the most, Jacob.

Suddenly all that game day excitement and enthusiasm for playing for the cheerleaders was gone and replaced with a feeling of anger and a million questions that he so frequently asked himself though never could answer. He gulped, turning away as quickly as possible, hoping the male cheerleader hadn't spotted him. He tried to get back into the spirit but his thoughts kept jumping back to that night. He zoned out thinking about it, replaying the scenes of it over and over again, the sound of the gym almost fading from his ears and the sound of the creaking bed and head board slamming against the wall replacing it. The sound of the music that was playing outside of the room and the sound of his-
"Cor! Corbin!" Coach Denton growled snapping his fingers in front of Corbin to bring him back to reality. Corbin blinked twice and gave the coach a look as if he was confused on how he got here. "You alright?" Denton asked him. Corbin replied with the biggest lie he had given all day "Yeah... I'm fine.". And with that Denton continued his anxious pace.

Corbin sighed and tried his hardest to push those thoughts out of his mind, shifting his focus to the pacing Coach Denton. He knew how big this game was for him. If they lost this game, Denton's name along with the players, would be slandered all over the radio and the threats he would receive would be unbelievable. Corbin looked at the man who was a father figure to him, the man that would lead them to victory and bring him his first championship ring, and suddenly he felt a wave of pride. All of his previous emotions and excitement returning to his body. He put a hand on the shoulder of the nervous coach, giving his reassuring smile that could calm a man with 3 bullets in his chest.
"Don't worry coach." he raised both hands up in a motion to the team. "We'll win this game for you." he said firmly, there wasn't a doubt in his mind that they would. "After all.. Clear eyes, full hearts.. Can't lose."

Kimberly stood in front of the mirror in the girls bathroom.

Her long brunette locks had been left down, letting the pin straight hair fall to the arch of her back. Blue eyeliner was perfectly drawn onto her eyes, and red lipstick stained her lips.

Kimberly was back. And everyone knew it.

She had vanished from the town of Dillon during the summer. Not telling anyone but her aunt where she was headed. Some even believed the rumours that said she was pregnant. While others believed she had ran back to London.

She had come home from a party one night, drunk, heartbroken and confused. She packed a suitcase, loaded up her jeep and left. She drove to the next town, and the next town and the next town. She partied hard, made new friends and throughly enjoyed her summer. She ignored constant phone calls, Facebook messages and snapchats.

But now it was time to face the music.

She reapplied her red lipstick, ran a hand through her hair and opened the door, leading her out to the chaotic hallways.

Instantly, Kimberly was greeted by friends and mutual friends. She was late for the assembly, so made an excuse to run on ahead. She ran a finger along the edge of her crop top and hurried on ahead, finally reaching the doors of the hall, relieved that people were still settling, and that she was not drawing any attention to herself.

She climbed the bleachers, her doe eyes searching for a seat within the crowd. A couple of hardcore football fans had waved the popular girl over, and she happily took a seat between them, complimenting their face paint.

She remembered the times when she was just like them. When she followed the football team as if she played for them. She would paint blue and yellow flowers all over her face, stand at the front of the crowd, and cheered her boyfriend on.

But that was then. And those were just memories now.

And the queen was hungry for her crown back.

She gazed through the cheerleaders and showed off her pearly whites in a smile. She waved a small black and blue flag that one of the guys had given her, trying her best to prove that she supported the team. The team that had won her heart when she moved to Dillon.

Her eyes met Corbin, who was caught up in his usual game routine. Convincing himself, and the town, that the team would win again.

She sighed deeply, as the football star gazed at the other pretty cheerleaders. And it proved that she was just another one of those girls.

She pulled out her phone, and called Audric. A guy that she had met in one of the towns she had visited. She had looked forward to seeing him after a few weeks. After getting no answer, she left a voicemail.

She returned the phone to her pocket and continued on trying her best to look happy.

Audric tried his best not to look like he'd rather be elsewhere and just stared into space as crowds of people flooded into the gym. He'd had no intention of playing the sport again when he and his father moved into Dillon from the town over but a lost bet with Rob a few weeks into the start of the school year at Dillon had him back in gear and on the roster as a fullback. The starter over the team's previous one which meant he couldn't just sit at the side and hope he'd never get chosen or have to play. Couldn't be the bench warmer he wanted to be and to add to that, he was wearing the same jersey number he had worn in his old school. 11. To represent the double championships he would bring home he'd told them back then. And they almost got the first one too in the championship game that resulted in a second place finish for the team and a dislocated shoulder for Audric instead of the championship title he had wanted to present to his mother. Not that it mattered since she'd kicked the bucket two days before. Died before she could fulfil her end of the promise. Watch him win the championship.

Audric held back a sigh as he waited for the rally to end even though it hadn't even begun. The noise level was almost deafening and everywhere he looked it was just blue, white and yellow. A small smile did slip onto his face however when he spotted amidst the sea of blue, white and yellow, Kimberly Stonem. A girl he had met at a party held in Arlington by mutual friends when she approached him. They'd traded numbers and had gotten fairly close over the texts they'd sent each other since but this was the first time he'd seen her since the party. It seemed to be a day of many first for him. The first pep rally since he hung up his old jersey, the first game since he quit and against the Larraby Lions. After tonight it would be either his first lost or win with the Dillon Panthers. His old school, Arlington had defeated tonight's opponents last year but the Dillon Panthers had lost to them at the start of the playoffs. The game was definitely not in their favour but everyone was placing their hopes in Coach Denton to change everything and bring them their first championship in years. For now he was being regarded as the town hero but the second the final whistle was blown and the score was in the favour of their opponents, he wouldn't be the target of all their criticisms and hate, slandered in every possible way. It was how the world worked. You win and people love you, worship you even but lose even once and that was enough reason for the people to just turn their backs and smear your name. Make it as if your past glories never existed. The Coach really intended to take them to the championships and bring home the title. So did the quarterback Corbin Longi. But Audric had his doubts. Tonight they had to beat the Larraby Lions and somewhere down the line, they would eventually have to face top schools that made it even further than the Lions had. Arlington included. Having been a part of their team he knew what a threat they could be. Last year's Runner Up to the eventual champions and no doubt very hungry for the win they had been denied that season. For this team, in Audric's opinion it was too high of a hurdle and telling people that you gave it your best shot was never enough to satisfy them. Spectators only ever wanted to see the result they desired, it was the only thing that mattered.

Today was the day that Jake was dreading to arrive. The beginning of school itself wasn't the most exhilarating but there were more reasons to avoid today. Reasons he didn't want to ever face again. He lightly walked up to the door to the male locker room, mostly full of football players but he can't exactly be in the cheer leading locker room since it was full of girls. He lightly cursed the school for putting up such a silly rule, it's just changing and he was only one guy with no interest in relationships so why did they have to curse him by making him face these cruel men? He will never know. Jake took a deep breath before opening the door to the locker room. He quickly zoomed to his designated locker, avoiding all eye contact with the men already changing. It then began.

"Awww, would you look at that! Pom pom is back for another year. Here we thought you would've dropped out of school by now." A football player sneered as he gave a high five to a fellow team mate.

Jake bit down on his lips as he quickly began to change. Not sparring a single second. Normally, he would gladly tell them to fuck off but now he feels all his strength being drained and he has no will to fight back. They continued to call him names behind his back, sometimes atrocities that were normally reserved for lowly prisoners at best. Jake slammed his locker door shut once he was finished, rushing out of the room quicker than he has ever done so before. He exhaled once he was outside,
I was able to avoid him at least... With that, Jake met up with his cheer leading squad as they discussed some bits from the routine before heading out to the crazed crowd outside. Jake fidgeted uncomfortable as Vanna gave the gals a pep talk before going out. He would look around nervously while flicking his thumb with his other fingers, alternating, waiting for that moment to come. He then heard the call for the cheerleaders to head out and begin their routine. Jake exhaled for one last time as he brought forth a bright smile, one that was being held on empty promises for the first time. He didn't feel the cheer in him today and he wonders if he will ever feel it again.

He walked out into the gymnasium with the girls. They all began their cheer to pump up the crowd, Jake feeling like he was just going through the motions and he was just ecstatic for it to be done with. The students went wild as the girls moved around, teasing them with their bodies. There were those students that Jake could see pointing to him and snickering, nothing new. The cheerleaders then began the bigger stunts of the routine. Jake knew that this would distract him in a better manner. He picked up Stefanie, his partner generally during these stunts, and lifted her up. At this point he looked over to the side and saw the football players, among them was
Corbin Longi.

That was when Jake felt a sudden jolt rise up through his spine. It all came rushing back to his head, a memory that he was trying so hard to forget. He remembered drinking one too many shots of tequila. Seeing the world blur before him and feeling like he barely was himself. Seeing Corbin flirt with the ladies and before he knew it, Jake as well. He remembered the rough hand gripping his hair and pulling him into this intense array of emotions and unforgettable passion. One small thing lead to an absolute shit-fest waiting to happen. At this point, Jake realized that he was still holding Stefanie but all he could feel was the strength draining from his arms. Much like that night:
FUCK, why me? That was when Jake felt his arms waver under the weight of Stefanie, and she was a tiny gal. Jake knew what could happen, he could drop her. That would be really bad and he has never dropped her before. Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck. Jake held a strong grip as his arms began shaking more and more, really hoping that this won't throw off her balance. That would just be the icing on the cake now wouldn't it?

Emma Harker

Emma Harker was dressed in the outfit she would be in for every Friday for the rest of the football season. She was in her band shirt and a pair of old jeans. The crowds of people in the gymnasium were screaming and yelling, excited to the point of almost hysteria that this would be the first football game of the season. Emma was glad she was half deaf so she wouldn't have to hear them at the same volume as everyone else. She never understood the schools excitement for football, but she really didn't care. She just focused on playing with the rest of the band correctly.

Emma focused on the beat of her drumsticks hitting the head of the drum. She kept her eyes on the sheet of music on her lyre, only looking up to look at the director to make sure she is on the correct beat. After the song was done, she turned to face the football team and the cheerleaders. Emma was mildly impressed with their routines this year, though some of them acted a little sluttier than was necessary. Of course, most of the football team was enjoying them and checking them out. She just shook her head and waited for the director to announce the next song they were going to play or for the football coach to begin his speech. As she was waiting, she saw the male cheerleader, she could never remember his name. Emma noticed that he looked like he was struggling to hold this tiny girl up. She watched and waited for what was about to occur, hoping he wouldn't drop her. She recalls that the majority of the football team make fun of him, which in her opinions, was truly despicable.

Max didn't want to be here. There were many places she did not want to be and this happened to be particularly high up on the list; she could fake a smile and plaster it on her face but it wouldn't change shit to be honest. At the end of the day she would still despise attending school events, the swarm of people which were within the gymnasium was appalling. Most couldn't be bothered to show up for class but somehow the school spirit evident in this room was contagious..for most.

The young woman shifted from where she sat in the bleachers, narrowly avoiding an elbow to the face by one of the alarmingly enthusiastic girls whom surrounded her, cheering and clapping despite the game not even beginning yet. She would never truly understand people and it seemed to be better that way, amidst the sea of students were the cheerleaders and the jocks and the jocks who happened to be cheerleaders; it had become something short of entertaining to watch them in action Max had to admit. They moved synchronatically as if they had been interlinked with each other, each and every person on the team knew the other's movements so well and they had established a certain fluidity that would not go unnoticed. It was their pompous attitude that Max loathed but when didn't she hate what appeared to be better than her?

They were beautiful, perfect in their creation and most people would admire the cheerleaders and football players who made up the team. They did, it was obvious in the way everyone gravitated around them as if they were God. People could have an empowering effect on others and Max found that to be truly fascinating; nevertheless, this was a game and she should try to have as much fun as could possibly be had. Wherever fun could be derived from.

The teenager clutched her knapsack tightly, intently watching everyone around her with an indifferent expression on her face. This was going to be intriguing to say the least.

Briar had a great first day back. It kind of just flew by but now was the part she had been waiting for. The Pep rally. The pep rally was so much fun because she had like, buckets full of pep. She got all ready and went out to the right of the podium where Vanna was giving the team a Pep talk, but Briar wasn't really listening because she already have enough pep. Instead her eyes were on Corbin. He was practically her boyfriend. I mean they weren't Facebook official or anything but they pretty close. She played with her cross necklace and kept watching Corbin as he checked all the girls out. It didn't really bother her. He wasn't like checking them out he was just inspecting them to make sure they looked good for the pep rally.

Briar snapped back into reality as it was the cheerleaders turn to start the pep rally. She smiled and ran out and started to cheer with the rest of the team. She started to cheer, flipping her hair and moving her body to music. Briar looked over at Jake and frowned for a minute before going back to smiling. He didn't look very good.

"PANTHERS! LETS WIN! FIRST AND TEN, LETS DO IT AGAIN! PANTHERS LETS WIN!" she cheered, waving her pom poms.

Then Briar ran to one side of the mat and did 3 consecutive back flips landing at the end and blowing a kiss at Corbin. She wanted the fan girls of the school to know that Corbin was hers. After Kim and him broke up, Corbin was taking it pretty hard. So she did her job as a cheerleader to cheer him up. The teams QB couldn't be depressed, the whole team would suffer. So she started to cheer him up little by little, then before she knew it, they were flirting, then they were kissing, then they even hooked up.

Now, they weren't offical. But everyone should know that soon enough they would be. Now usually Briar wouldn't just sleep with a guy without them dating, because Jesus wouldn't approve but she had to make an acception.

Briar dropped to the floor and got on all fours, whipping her hair and smiling up at the crowd.

Austin made it through his first day of Senior year and it went pretty damn good. He wasn't in any classes that he couldn't handle, and his body felt good for football so things were going good. He went through the Boys locker room to get his jersey and saw some of the guys on his team, giving Jake a hard time. That was something he didn't understand. There were two gay guys on the football team, but since Jake was on the cheerleading team, he was some kind of loser. But who was he to question to social structure of high school?

He made his way through the locker room, filled with handsome, hot, shirtless guys, managing not to get too turned on. He went to the left side of the podium and stood next to Corbin. Corbin was pretty much his best friend, Austin thought he was hot but he would never say anything because Corbin was kind of weird with that kind of stuff.

Austin looked around the room full of people, while most of the guys on the team just ogled the cheerleaders, they weren't his taste. He smiled and clapped as the cheerleaders made their way to the mat and started to cheer. That meant the big pep really was starting. It was the beginning of it all. The drama, the football, all of it. This would be a good year, he could feel it.

Elizabeth Heart

Elizabeth quickly walked through the halls and towards the locker rooms so she could get ready for the pep rally. She was somehow able to tune out all the screams and loud conversations coming from the students standing in the hall and just hear the sound of her heels making contact with the floor. It was finally her senior year and Elizabeth couldn't wait for her high school life to be over. She had dreamed of moving away from this town since she was younger and going to college in another town or maybe even another state provides the perfect chance for her to fulfill that life long dream. If she could convince her uncle to come with her then she would be able to bring along Sara and Jaden. It has always baffled her as to why her uncle decided to stay in this small town when he had the money to let them live somewhere else, but Elizabeth couldn't complain. He was willing to take them in and pay for everything, so when he said they were going to stay in Dillon; Elizabeth had no choice but to comply. At least for her final year, she had a little more peace in her classes than the other three years. There were still loudmouths in some of her classes but at least she could take sanctuary in her science classes. Those classes had somewhat quiet students that actually took the class seriously and were willing to learn, Elizabeth has to try really hard in those classes to keep up with everyone, but that's just the way she likes it. With that, she was able to tolerate being in the same class as those loudmouths she calls 'idiots'.

Walking into the locker rooms, Elizabeth immediately got changed and tied her hair up into her usual ponytail. Using her phone to check if her hair was a mess, she peered into the screen of her phone before feeling satisfied and putting it away in her bag. After doing so, she did some leg stretches before heading out and meeting up with the rest of the squad. While listening to Vanna's pep talk, Elizabeth was doing some more stretches so she doesn't get hurt while doing her flip routines. If there was one thing she didn't want, it would be to get a cramp while she was in the air. This was the first pep rally of the year and Elizabeth was planning to start this year off right with some of her flips.

When it was time for the cheerleaders to head out, Elizabeth sighed and put on her first fake smile of many. With a smile on her face, she perfectly followed the routine they had discussed. She moved along to the music and loudly cheered to the crowd. Her smile never left her face, even when she did one of the one things she hated the most in the world; seductive body movement. It was like she was a completely different person than who she was a couple minutes prior. As a cheerleader, she had to put on bright smiles and pump up the crowd, and she couldn't do that with her normal personality. This is one of the few times, one could see her act cheerful and filled with nothing but smiles, even if it was fake. Elizabeth continued the routine, but she kept eyeing Jake since she noticed that his arms were shaking while holding up Stephanie. On the surface, Elizabeth continued to smile so the crowd wouldn't get worried but on the inside she thought Oh my god, I hope he's not gonna drop her. She could see that some of the students were laughing at him, but it was time for her flips so she hoped she could distract the crowd from him.

Elizabeth dropped her pom poms to the floor, which got a lot of people's attention. She exhaled and jumped into two consecutive back flips, following up with a back handspring. When she landed perfectly, the crowd screamed in awe. Elizabeth faced the crowd, waved and winked. She wasn't sure if people saw the wink but she thought it was a nice touch, even if the gesture did make her sick to her stomach.

Vanna Thomas

Vanna was prepared and ready for this game. She made sure to give the squad a pep talk, one of her better ones. Vanna always tried to show she had a lot of energy, most of the time she did have a lot of energy. That is what a cheerleader should be and should have anyway. She noticed that a few people on the team didn't seem as pumped as usual. Before they left Vanna figured out which routines to try out, the crowds at the games usually were pumped and excited before the cheerleaders even got on the field.

Vanna constantly watched every cheerleader, taking mental notes on what they did well and what they messed up on. The routines were going well, very few mistakes which made Vanna less stressed. It was easy to see who was confident with their stunts and with the routines and other not so much. Vanna was excited for one routine in particular, the cheer coach wanted a little bit more variety in their routines. Vanna and her co- captain had to choreograph a majorette dance routine. During practice everyone seemed to do good with it, and of course Vanna made sure they were ready before even considering doing the routine.

Once they got a break, Vanna went over and plugged in the ipod and got the song ready, crossing her fingers that everything would work out.

Lucas jumped out of his seat as soon as he heard the principal's voice over the loud speaker. He grabbed his black backpack from the floor and slung it loosely over his shoulder before dashing out of his English class. "PEP RALLY! WHOOOO!" he shouted through the hallways as he pushed through the crowd of students and made his way towards the gym. Game day was his absolute favorite day of the week. After all, what was more fun than seeing his two best friends, Corbin and Daniel, kill a football game then get wasted at his house during the afterparty, where he had a multitude of hot women to choose from.

He grabbed a can of Blue Moon beer from his backpack and popped it open in the middle of the hallway before bringing the cool metal to his lips. He reveled in the foamy liquid as the alcohol seeped down his throat. "Just what I need," he said to himself with satisfaction and a smirk on his face. Lucas knew that game day was the only day the teachers would be willing to turn a blind eye to alcohol, so long as he drank responsibly. After all, the teachers were just as excited as the students were for the upcoming football game. Hell, they probably all had vodka in their water bottles too.

The tall muscular boy was clad in a fake Panthers jersey with the number 7 on the front and 12 on the back. 7 was Corbin's jersey number while 12 was Daniel's. Lucas had never missed a single one of their football games, as they have been inseparable since childhood. The trio were practically brothers at this point, and he didn't know what he would do without them. He had painted half his face blue and the other half yellow, with the word PANTHERS written in white across his forehead. With a beer in one hand and a blue party tooter in the other, Lucas barged through the doors of the gym, shouting at the top of his lungs and making loud noises with his party tooter. He reveled in the loud cheers from the crowd, the drumming of the marching band, the chanting from the cheerleaders, and the overall spirit and excitement that filled the air. This was where he felt the most at home.

His piercing eyes spotted the football team lined up on the left of the podium, sporting bright smiles and matching jerseys, and the cheerleaders on the right, chanting their usual pep rally cheers and looking sexy as always. His hazel green eyes immediately spotted Corbin and Daniel amongst the football team by recognizing their jersey numbers, and he tipped his beer can towards them in greeting. "LET'S GO, MOTHERFUCKERS!" he shouted to his two best friends, even though they probably couldn't even hear him from across the loud gym. Corbin was pumping his team up, as usual, with a forced smile on his face, but Lucas couldn't help but notice the distraction and angst in his eyes. He was surprised, since the quarterback was often the most excited on the team, and he made a mental note to check up on his friend later. When Coach Denton walked over to Corbin, no doubt snapping the football player out of his daze, Lucas shifted his attention over to the cheerleaders.

He immediately noticed Stefani cheering with the rest of her team and he shouted a greeting towards her with a wide smile on his face. They had first met at a party back in freshman year, around the same time when his little sister had died from leukemia and her parents had divorced. As a result, they had confided in and comforted each other, even sharing a drunken kiss at the end of the night, and have been good friends ever since. His scouring eyes checked out the other skimpily-dressed cheerleaders, wondering which one he would pursue at the after party.

Lucas' hazel gaze swept the gym and noticed Kimberly sitting next to a couple hardcore football fans. He had first introduced her to the world of partying and drinking, and was even there when she had taken her first sip of alcohol and got drunk for the first time. Lucas smirked as he remembered the night that had first sparked their friendship. Guilt clouded his piercing green eyes as his mind replayed two other drunken nights when they had hooked up during wild parties that summer. Kimberly, after all, was Corbin's ex-girlfriend, and Lucas would never consciously intend on hurting his best friend. Taking a large swig of his beer, he made his way up the bleachers and sat down next to the popular brunette. "Beer?" he asked her, his eyes lighting up with excitement as he offered the beer can to her.

Daniel Casey

The gymnasium was loud, as in New Orleans-Mardi Gras parade loud. He wasn't the boisterous crowd type, but game day was a special day. It was the day the Panther's owned the field and Daniel could let out some steam, something he deemed highly important. That aside, being his best friend's Wide Receiver was the best thing a guy could ask for.

From the corner of his eye, the brunette noticed Corbin's slightly distressed expression, which was a bit odd but he chose to ignore it after the Coach brought him back to reality. Anyone would be a bit in a daze if they were a quarterback, even if that quarterback was Corbin.

His crystal blue eyes began scanning the crowd and the person he was looking for came into view. Lucas Rylan. The other member of their trio. The last corner of the triangle. The guy-

Who's a fucking idiot. Is he drinking?

Daniel snickered and shook his head, making sure to make eye contact with the party animal before returning his attention to his team. At least he knew the after party was on.

Kimberly watched as some of the others poured in. She paid particular attention to one.

Briar Rose, the pampered cheer princess.

Not only had she stolen Kimberley's spotlight in the school, but by the looks of it, her childhood friend had stolen her ex-boyfriend too. If only the people who looked at her like she's god's gift knew the real side of her.

Kimberly smirked, her doe eyes instantly rolling to the back of her head. Watching carefully the scene that was coming together.

The guy cheerleader, the one who's everybody is always name-calling appeared to be struggling to lift the thin cheerleader. She couldn't believe her eyes. She had watched him lift two girls, never mind a girl the weight of a bag of flour.

Kimberly dragged her attention back to the waves of blue and white as she felt herself reconnect with the moment. Flashes of cameras flickered in her face as she squinted and closed her eyes.

"Beer?"

The familiar voice rang in Kimberlys ears for a moment before her eyelashes fluttered open again. A smile played on her bitten lips as she accepted the can, taking it in a manicured hand, and taking a large swig. The brunette drank as if the beer was nothing but water, as she left the can half full. She took a deep sigh, her eyes flickering towards Corbin and Briar, before taking another greedy gulp.

With wide opened eyes, Kimberly handed the can back.

"I had no idea I needed that. Cheers."

Kimberly smiled briefly, before her brown eyes locked with his green ones. Faded memories rushed back into her head from their past hook ups, and she instantly tore her eyes from him, running a hand through her hair. There was no way she was getting drunk with him this time. And there was no way they were hooking up.

Ever again.

"How was your summer?"

She asked over the sounds of the roaring fans. It wasn't really the time, or place for questions, but she genuinely wanted to hear about it. Whatever he did, Cobin closely followed.

And the brown-eyed beauty wanted to hear more about what the town of Dillion got up to while she was gone.

Stefani finished fixing the large white bow that topped off her ponytail and did a last minute check of her make-up and cheerleading outfit. She was about to turn away when she remembered that she was forgetting something. She pulled a small temporary tattoo of a blue paw print outlined in yellow and carefully placed it on her left cheek, just below her eye. After wetting the back and holding it down for the allotted time, she threw away the trash and inspected her work. "Purr-fect!" she said, giggling at her own silliness. The small paw was a signature of hers and she was glad Vanna let her keep it when she became captain. Stefani made her way out of the girl's locker room to where her squad was gathering before they entered the gym. Once everyone was there, the captain called for their attention. The small female listened to Vanna's pep talk as she stretched with a smile on her face. It was the first pep rally of her senior year and nothing could bring her down.

The Dillon Cheerleaders ran out into the lively gym, huge smiles on their faces and spirit pouring out of them. They ran out to their designated spots and began their first routine. "Go Dillon, Beat the Lions!" The pretty females chanted and cheered, pumping the crowd up to the beat the cadences the Dillon Drumline was playing. Stefani's smile was an authentic one; she loved being a cheerleader, not for the popularity (though she won't lie, it's a plus), but for the performances and the way the crowd reacted to their squad when they executed their routines perfectly. Heck, even when they messed up, the crowd still went wild. She could only imagine how crazy the crowd would go for the Majorette routine she and Vanna put together.

She looked around as they cheered and saw Corbin give her a smirk. She gave him a small nod before returning her attention to the crowd, where she saw Lucas all decked out in yellow and blue with a beer in his hand. Typical. He shouted something at her, and though she couldn't hear him, she gave him a shake of her head and a wink. The kid was more excited about Dillon football than all the cheerleaders combined, which was saying something.

The tiny blonde moved to the back center, where Jake hoisted her up high for their final major stunt. She pulled her right leg up, holding it against her body while using her left hand to make a sort of "Panther Paw", the school's signature sign. Some thought the hand sign was silly, but she loved it and it seemed to drive the crowd nuts. Her smiled widened even more, feeding off the energy of the crowd.

Stefani's smile faltered as she felt a slight tremor coming from beneath her. She adjusted herself accordingly by shifting the weight in her ankle. She darned not look down. They were performing. Instead, she lifted her chin higher and brought right foot to her knee in a simpler pose that allowed for more balance, but it did no good as the shakes increased. What the hell was going on? Jake never faltered. Never. Fear flitted across her mind as the worst case scenario popped into her head. Jake was going to drop her. '
No. He's never dropped you before. Today won't be the day', Stefani told herself, though the way his arms were shaking told otherwise. 'C'mon Jake, c'mon!' Stef's inner thoughts willed her friend, but alas, it was to no avail.

Jake's arms shook so much that they made Stefani herself wobble, throwing her center of gravity off and causing him to drop her. Stefani fell forward, landing on her stomach, hands, and knees, though luckily enough, she turned her face last minute, only catching her cheek. Her eyes squeezed shut as she fell, though they burst open immediately as she hit the ground, breath knocked out of her, pain shooting through her right hand and cheek. The gymnasium swirled around her as she turned onto her back with a groan.

Fuck.

'Someone just fucked up.'

Jake exhaled loudly as he looked up at Stefanie, not believing that his arms were shaking so much, it was absolutely embarrassing. He could feel how his muscles weren't listening to his brain to just stiffen up. He noticed that Stefani had realized that he was wavering. He saw her change position and at this point things should have gone easier but...Nope. His arms were shaking as much as an old car engine. All the events that followed happened too quickly for his liking. He saw his movements move Stefani's ankle just a bit too much and before he knew it, she was on the ground.

FUCK, FUCK, FUCK. FUCK ALL THE FUCKS THAT WERE EVER FUCKIN' GIVEN. FUUUUCCK.

He couldn't believe it. He just dropped the co-captain in front of his whole damn school. Right before the big game that was going to change it all. Vanna was going to have his head for messing up the routine after practicing all summer. He quickly tuned out his thoughts to attend to Stefani, not sure what to do in the situation as this had never happened before. He quickly bent down to grab Stefanie's shoulder. Looking her over to see if there was any serious harm externally showing.

"Stefani! are you harmed? Can you get up?"

Jake looked over her before he heard the roar of the people surrounding him. He couldn't tell if they were laughing, worried or angry. All he knew is that for the very first time everyone was looking right at him and he just fucked it all up. Corbin was probably looking at him. He couldn't handle it. His head was beating uncontrollably at the thought of his school sneering at him, judging him for making this mistake. Their routine was mostly over and as much as he wanted to attend to Stefani, he just couldn't face the shame. He needed to be alone and away from his buzzing thoughts. This school needed to cheer and support their hard working football team not deal with a sexually confused cheer leader fucking up a simple routine.

He quickly stood up before whispering "sorry..." to Stefani. He then jogged quickly away from the gymnasium. He glanced up to see Corbin's face, immediately darting his eyes once they made a connection, in absolute embarrassment. Once he was clear of the gymnasium he slowed down to arrive at the male locker room. Once inside, he began to walk slower and slower towards his locker as he felt the life draining out of him. Once he arrived he was silent for a couple of minutes, his head resting on the cool surface of the locker door.

Suddenly, he slammed a firm fist on the locker door. He was aggravated at himself for allowing any kind of distraction to enter his life. Those girls trusted him, they were his second family and now he just dropped one of them. How bad does that make him look? He wasn't used to feeling these many emotions at once and Corbin wasn't helping at all. In fact, this was all his fault! Jake hit the locker door again, a little more aggressively. He waited for a bit before sitting down on the bleacher and sighing softly. He needs to get himself together or else someone is going to find out...then it'll really be bad.

Through the pain, I always tell the truth.
Vampire Weekend

Ouch.

One of the cheerleaders had taken a nasty fall and Max jolted as she fell to the ground, hitting against the surface. That certainly looked like it hurt and the girls around her went awkwardly silent which didn't do to help the situation, the cheerleaders messed up quite a bit at times however they were always able to recover. This wasn't good, on a scale of 1 to 25 it was a 50 and Max watched the male cheerleader practically bolt out of the gymnasium. The spirit had certainly been destroyed and Max leaned back in order to divert her attention to something else, it was already pitiful enough and she couldn't imagine how embarrassed the two felt. To be honest, she felt bad for them seeing as jocks and cheerleaders depended on their reputation to stay afloat in high school and events such as this (casual mistakes) circulated around the school and spread like wildfire.

It was nerve-wracking but Max was certain that there had been tedious performances in the past and this would not hinder anyone seeing as life did carry on afterwards, the routine had definitely been impressive and she had to admit that she enjoyed watching however it was football that did not interest her quite like other people. She saw no appeal in watching beefcakes give each other concussions over a ball but the enthusiasm with which they did so was impressionable, Max glanced at the other cheerleaders to study their reaction.

She hoped the girl hadn't broken anything, if Max could scale the crowd then she wouldn't have hesitated to assist her but the noise of laughter intermingled with groans of sympathy were overwhelming and the people which were shoved into the bleachers were making her extremely uncomfortable. In hindsight, it would have been best to just have skipped school today.

Audric had watched the whole cheer routine absentmindedly and had been startled when he heard and saw the small blonde cheerleader topple from where she was, on top of the male carrying her and go crashing to the ground. He immediately left his spot, acting on reflex and bit his lip, regretting it when he caught himself, after he'd stepped well out of line, forcing himself to keep working towards her. Turning back after having stepped out of line was surely just going to give him more trouble and attention. "You alright?" He knelt down beside her as he spoke while scolding himself mentally for leaving the line. Noticing that something was wrong, he picked her up, feeling rather uncomfortable about it. He hadn't even carried his ex girlfriend like this before but then she never needed to be carried this way. He paused once he stood straight, noticing how light she was which made him wonder how the male cheerleader who dashed out could have dropped her. "I know it's the pep rally but you should go to the nurse's office get yourself checked out. It's the start of season after all and I'm sure you'll want to be able to perform your cheer."

His voice was a little cold and he still regretted walking over to her, cursing himself for not letting someone else do the job, but he was also worried that she was badly injured from the fall and headed out the gym as quickly as he could to avoid any more stares, making his way towards the nurse's office.

He'd have been crushed about his own injury if he still had passion for football when it happened and he knew what it would be like for someone to get injured and be unable to do something they loved. After all, he saw it happen to Robert right when he was gaining momentum with his career in the NFL and even though the girl before him was a stranger, he didn't want to see the same thing happen to her. He didn't want to see it happen to anyone who loved what they were doing. He had always hated it. How Robert had ended up with a career ending injury and he hadn't when the one who loved the sport more and wanted to continue was Robert.

CFj50dMWYAA6KUp.jpg

Vanna stayed back as the rest of the team went through the routines, writing down something about everyone, what they did well and what they didn't do so well on. She looked up to notice that Jake and Stefani were going for one of the more difficult stunts, right off she noticed that something wasn't right. She moved closer to them but just as she reached them, the worst thing happened, Stefani fell. She ran over to her, fellow students had started forming a circle around her. "BACK THE FUCK UP" she yelled at the crowd, they all slowly moved away, Vanna quickly glanced at Jake, making sure to talk to him later. then brought her attention back to Stefani who was now in Audric's arms. She quickly walked over to Briar, "Tell everyone to get changed into their practice clothes, we are having practice for the rest of the day, make sure everyone is there and focused, you are in charge till I get back" she said to her in a strict voice, typically Vanna wouldn't talk to anyone with that voice, but in this case it was needed, and no one in their right mind would talk back to her. Vanna then turned and went off to the nurses office to check on her co-captain.

Eka Jameson

Swish! Another shot catches the bottom of the net as the ball passed through. The sound of dribbles and light running echoed within the alternative gym as he put shot after shot. Sweat dripped from his brow and as he sat down on a bleacher to nab a swig of Gatorade. Light panted breaths rhythmically escaped him as he observed the empty court. The same court that all the home games would be held at for the junior varsity and freshmen teams. Chuckling lightly, he heaved himself up and retrieved the rolling basketball, while heading towards the showers. Today marked the first official pep rally and the start of football season for the Panthers.

Having showered up, E checked his watch and realized he had already began to miss some of the assembly. Bolting over to the main gym, he entered through one of the side doors near the student section of the bleachers. Looking around, he hoped to see a familiar face. Well familiar to him that is. "
Vivian Payton", he thought to himself. To him the girl seemed like a myth. An essence of beauty that perhaps only the cheerleaders could rival. His search through the various faces got him no where as his gaze shifted from the crowd to the aforementioned cheerleaders. Their routine had definitely seen improvement since last year, but perhaps he had spoken too soon.

THUD! One of the petite blondes ate some mat as she fell from above. Her partner none other than the one kid who had enough things to worry about in life, Jacob Johnson. Eka observed as Johnson bee-lined for the nearest exit and Audric swooped in to pick up the fallen girl. If E recalled correctly, her name was Stefani. The co-captain of the cheer team. Shifting his weight so he could lean against the railing, E continued watching to see how the remainder of the pep rally would unfold.

Jeff & Gwynn

35yCul2.jpg

The Peterson Duo finally walked into the gym just as the blondie hit the ground. And boy, did she hit it hard.

"Shiiiit." Gwynn hissed, feeling the impact for the girl. Her brother, on the other hand, looked like an idiot while trying to surpress a hearty laugh. It wasn't working. "Jeff, go help them. I'll try to round up the rest of this thing." she said, trying not to look as the girl was dragged away. Jeff couldn't move an inch, causing Gwynn to start slapping his shoulder until he started moving along. It was Stefani, who'd ate the mat. It sucked, but the show had to go on. Gwynn walked up to the podium and grabbed the mic, ready to do damage control.

"Are you Panthers ready to eat Lion meat tonight?!"

she asked the crowd, riling them up. She got a halfhearted reply, but it was something to work with. They'd have to get an amazing number from the band, but the school spirit would survive another day.

Meanwhile, Jeff jogged over to meet Jake in the locker room, who looked like his puppy got run over by an ice cream truck. "Hey, man." he said, giving him an awkward yet caring hug. "It's not your fault. Holding up a human is hard, let alone two. We all have our days." He pulled back and smiled at the cheerleader. "I mean, I wouldn't have fucked that up, though." he followed. So much for being helpful.

Lucas smirked as Kimberly shifted her attention back onto him and gratefully accepted the beer, downing almost half the can. "Woah there, tiger. You don't want to be drunk before the after party even begins," he joked with her. "But then again, who am I to talk," he added, accepting the beer back from her and taking a careful gulp. The tall muscular brunette was cautious to keep track of how much he was drinking this time, as there was no way he was going to let himself hook up with his best friend's ex-girlfriend again. It seemed like he couldn't control himself while he was wasted, and he would always wake up the next morning with guilt churning in his stomach.

When she asked him how his summer was, Lucas knew that she was curious to hear about what her ex-boyfriend had been up to. Even though he had told Kimberly over and over again that Corbin would
never cheat on her, she didn't seem to believe any of it, no matter how much he had tried to convince her otherwise. "It was a lot of fun. I spent the entire summer chilling with my friends, going to the beach, partying, meeting hot girls, drinking... the usual," he replied with a smirk, reflecting back on all his drunken summer adventures with his trio of Corbin and Daniel. "Corbin and Daniel spent the entire summer preparing for the upcoming football season. I swear they were practicing 24/7, but that didn't stop me from getting them wasted on the weekends," he added, knowing that Kimberly was really asking about his friend. "How was your summer?" he asked, realizing that he hadn't heard from her at all that summer besides the parties he had seen her at. "Where did you even go?"

He had barely even got the last question out of his mouth before he heard a loud thud on the gym floor and the crowd begin to groan. Lucas' piercing hazel green eyes immediately shifted over to the front where a small crowd was beginning to form. It seemed like a million things were unfolding before him at once in a matter of seconds. He saw Stefani, the cheer co-captain, on the ground and Jacob, the male cheerleader, dash out of the gym. Audric, the new student at Dillon High, proceeded to pick Stefani up while Vanna, the cheer captain, tried to keep the cheerleading team under control by shouting something at them. Just then, the Peterson Duo walked in and Gwynn grabbed the microphone from the podium to do some damage control with the crowd.
"How did he drop her? She's weighs like fifty pounds," Lucas asked incredulously, almost to himself, as he glanced over at Kimberly.

The Party Animal leaped out of his seat and pushed his way through the roaring crowd towards the cheerleaders.
"Get her to the nurse's office," he called towards Audric as he watched the other boy carry his friend out of the gym with Vanna following closely behind. Lucas knew that Stefani would be alright with those two by her side, especially with the nurse there. He would check up on her as soon as he helped the Student President get this crazy crowd under control, otherwise the first pep rally of the year would be ruined.

He picked up a nearby megaphone from the gym floor and faced Gywnn from the crowd.
"YEAH WE ARE!" he replied loudly through the megaphone. "LET'S GO, PANTHERS, LET'S GO!" he began to chant. "LET'S GO, PANTHERS, LET'S GO!" he continued as the crowd began to join in and soon, the gym was filled with excited shouting and spirit for their football team.

"You'll never guess her secret..."

6pLjlpx.png

Friday, September 4th | 1:45 P.M.

"It's great to have you back in school, Riley." Principle Kalter smiled as she opened the door to her office, stepping outside. "I trust you've had a decent year off, but now it's a great opportunity to get your head stuck in."

Riley smiled warmly at the woman and gave a slight nod, her father - who volunteered to tag along - followed after as they walked outside her small office. "The pep rally will be beginning soon; it would be good to have you join us..." She paused before speaking again, "Perhaps you can go ahead and reunite with your cheerleading buddies." The blonde stared at her for a moment, her mouth drying up at the thought of her ex-cheerleading team. Or just the thought of seeing someone - her friends - made her stomach go insane. Forget butterflies. There was a zoo going on down there...

To Riley's surprise, she managed to reply with a small 'thank you' before they turned around and began heading through the empty hallways, their footsteps echoing around them. "You remember what I told you about Elliot, right?" She turned to look at her father as he nodded his head with a small chuckle. "No, seriously dad. You need to remember to burp him after you feed him. Sing him some songs if he begins to cry... Change his nappy." Her rambling went on and on as she gave out instructions for him to remember. "Just, make sure nothing happens to him, okay?"

He stopped in tracks and raised an eyebrow at her, crossing his arms. "Really Riles?" He questioned, "I was put in a similar position as you at your age. Elliot will be fine, I can assure you that." A small sigh of relief escaped her lips from the mature response her father gave, considering he was the type to joke around. She smiled at him and nodded before mumbling under her breath, "I know. It's just weird having to leave him."

"Now, now, you can see him when you get back to the apartment." He rubbed her shoulder gently, "Just enjoy the last year of high school as much as you can."

Pep Rally

The sound of the hooting and hollering kids, music and loud chatter slowly began to get louder and louder as Riley headed towards the hall where the pep rally would be. Yes, it may have started a couple minutes ago, but Riley didn't know whether she felt like going or not. But now that she'd finally made her mind, she was just a couple steps away from entering the hall and so she did. At the wrong time. Three people quickly rushed out of the gym, two blondes that Riley immediately recognized; Vanna and Stefani, alongside a football player from what she could tell but who? She really didn't have a clue. New student maybe? Though that was the last thought on her mind right now as she headed into the gym to find out what really happened.

"Did you see that? The way Stefani fell?"

Riley's eyes widened slightly as she overheard a bunch of girls, walking by her to the benches, talk about Stefani falling. Did she really? From past experience, it was a surprise to hear about one of the cheerleaders falling from a stunt and messing up like that. The only person that really came to mind was Jake. She knew they were partners, but she also knew that it was rare for Jake to drop someone.

Her eyes darted around the room. Jesus, it had definitely been long.

"Welcome back to high school, Riley." She whispered quietly to herself.

The excited chants and cheers began again as a familiar voice filled the hall -
"Are you Panthers ready to eat Lion meat tonight?!" The one and only student body president, Gwynnifer Peterson. Maybe the last person Riley would want to bump into right now. Or ever.

Following the crowd, she also headed to the benches and climbed up the steps to the far back; where she'd be able to spot and recognize her friends. And she could. The quarterback she once was close to - and wished she still was - was there. Corbin. Riley smiled. The typical football team was there too - Daniel, a very familiar face, Austin and the others. The cheerleading team was also there. Except, something was missing - and it was her.

-PLACE- Gymnasium

Vivian

Vivian wanted to be anywhere but here. Well, really she wanted to be in the drama room with the other actors/actresses that would be participating in the beginning of the year play. Unfortunately, the drama teacher, Mrs. Martenson, had pulled her away from the room before the girl could hide away inside. That was why she was standing against the wall with the teachers. It wasn't that she didn't support her school, but she found things like sports useless and had only attended football games when Jeff, and on occasion Gwynn, made her.

Despite her intolerance of physical extra curriculars, Viv still stood with wide eyes and a hand over her mouth when Jake, the only male cheerleader, failed to support Stefani and she went crashing to the matt-covered floor. She watched as Jake ran off and Jeff soon followed after him. She couldn't help but snicker when Gwynn made her way to the podium, grabbed the mic and then said a phrase that brought the fight out in some people. Others were still in a state of surprise. That was when Lucas, who she found incredibly annoying, came in and began his obnoxious chanting. Soon the whole gymnasium was filled with the shouting.

Vivian never participated in these events, even with as many times as she had been forced to attend them throughout her high school career. It was mindless and wouldn't exactly help their team win. At least, that was her opinion. She leaned back against the wall and looked up at the ceiling, rocking back on the heels of her worn out converse. She just wanted this thing to be done with already.

CARTER

VALOR

outfit

Carter pushed open the glass door to the Juvenile Detention Center, digging into the pocket of his leather jacket for a pack of cigarettes and a lighter. "I haven't had a smoke in three months. Fuck, I need a cig." Carter muttered to himself as he felt a small cardboard box in his hands. Carter took it out of his pocket, shutting his eyes and crossing his fingers with one hand while flipping the top of the box over with his thumb. And, of course it was all empty. Nothing but little paper dividers to keep each cigarette seperate. "Just my fucking luck." Carter tossed the empty box over his shoulder, hearing a soft tapping noise of the box hitting the parking lot ground in front of the Juvenile Detention Center. Carter looked over his shoulder to glance at his father who came to pick him up. His father had a cold, blunt expression on his face. He said nothing to Carter from the moment he walked in and filed all the paper work. The guy didn't even look at him. Carter stopped at the door to his father's black truck, swung the door open, and hopped in. He didn't bother to buckle his seat belt. Not to be a stereotypical rebellious teen, but because he never really bothered with the seat belt before. Plus he's used to driving his motorcycle. "Hey, where's my Shelly at? Is she still up at shop, or did J.J. drop her by?" Carter tried his best not to sound too excited, but if you paid attention you could notice his eyes light up a little.

Carter loved his motor cycle. It had a lot of problems. It was dented, chipped, and there were a couple of key marks on it from people who got revenge on him, but he loved it. It was damaged, but it still had it's own way of functioning without falling to pieces like most others. The bike reminded Carter of himself. He named the bike after his mom Michelle, but preferred to call it Shelly. "I don't know. It's probably back at the shop. I didn't see it in the driveway." His father's voice was just what you'd expect. Cold, mostly monotone, and uninterested. "Why do you care about that hunk'a shit anyway? It barely runs two blocks without making some crazy noise or running out of gas." His father said in a somewhat criticizing tone. "It's unsafe, Cathy." Carter frowned, looking down at his combat boots and then back over at his dad. "Oh, please. You don't give a shit about my safety." Carter spoke with a slight growl. "It's Carter, not Cathy. Cathy's a girl's name." His father simply rolled his eyes. "And? You're a girl, Catherine." Just as his father said that, the car stopped at a red light. "Fuck you." Carter said as if it was the simplest thing in the world. He unbuckled his seatbelt, got out of the car, and walked off down the sidewalk. Yeah, it kinda hurt, but it was the same old routine. They'd gone through that same conversation a million times before. At this point, it was almost numb.

Carter finally made it to the school building. He checked his appearance in the rflection of the school's window before entering. A wind of cool air conditioning and the smell of a fresh new car hit him straight in the face. "Welcome home, Valor." He smirked to himself, hearing what sounded like a pep rally down in the gym. He ran to the supply closet, grabbed the historian camera, and quickly entered the gym before he missed anything else. Having the advantage of height, he could take pictures from almost anywhere and not get everyone's heads in the way. Carter searched for a spot to stand where he could get good photos without getting in the way, and finally found a good spot to stand. Just as he got his camera ready, he saw Stefani fall and quickly snapped three pictures. One above impact, one nearing impact, and one right on impact. "Well done, Carter. Well done." He lifted his eyebrows, impressed by his timing as he scrolled through the photos. Just then he realized she was probably severly hurt. Carter saw everyone crowding around her, and after a few moments the pep rally just kind of continued on. He snapped a few good photos of the student body president. Carter thought she was hot, but kinda annoying. Like most girls in this town. He tapped his foot as he looked around the gym, waiting for something cool to happen. Carter was just itching for someone to ask him where he'd been considering he'd disappeared all summer. Of course Daniel would probably ask him sometime soon. At least he hoped so. Carter just loves telling stories.
