Avery is pretty in a way that suggests she knows perfectly well her aesthetic value. Blond curls frame a narrow, pale face, with a slender nose, full lips and radiant blue eyes standing out beneath long, dark lashes and light, well maintained brows.




Her frame is thin, but curvy and while she's on the shorter side she doesn't necessarily appear so, with long, spindly legs. Her hands and feet are delicate in nature, her nails manicured to perfection.

Avery knows more than most, how to get her way. Spoiled by parents feeling guilty for their separation, she's the type who knows what she wants and how to get it, and generally how to make anyone miserable who stands in her way. Her passive aggressive behavior, however, is more or less a cover up for the intense disappointed she holds towards her family situation.


Still, despite her hidden vulnerability, Avery is still a defiant brat and knows it, unapologetically. She can be bossy, lazy and rude, but regardless of being generally dislikable, she has great potential for change.

BACKGROUND




With lawyers for parents, Avery grew up with one very particular advantage. Knowing, without a shadow of doubt, how to win an argument. She could fight her way through anything with sheer determination and stubbornness, until getting what she wanted, no matter how simple or complex the issue. Unfortunately for her, the only circumstances she couldn't manipulate was the inevitable breakdown of her parent's marriage, largely the result of her father's affair with his secretary.


When she was fifteen, Avery's parents officially divorced, and while she would never admit it and in fact denied it vehemently, their separation left her devastated. Bitter and angry, she resented her mother and treated her with very little regard. It was, in the end, her mother's idea to take a trip to New Zealand in the hopes of repaired her relationship with her daughter, something Avery only agreed to with the promise of a new car when they returned home.

Carlos has European, Japanese, and Amerindian blood in him, making for a diverse but handsome young man. He's a tall, muscular but slim fellow with more of a runner's physique than a weight lifters, equipped with strong calves and toned thighs. He keeps his hair rather shaggy, though has the tendency to tie it back into a small bun when in deep thought or hot temperatures. He keeps a light stubble to appear his age but professional enough not to intimidate future patients.


Chestnut eyes that seem lighter, an almost golden color in sunlight, and caramel skin contrasting against the bright eyes and cushioned lips add to Carlos' exotic look. Out of practice, he sticks to what he deems 'distressed artist' styled clothes, holding a deep love for cardigans, sweaters, ripped jeans and sneakers. Otherwise, you'll regularly catch him in a shirt and skinny tie from currently studying clinical skills in school, where he regularly communicates with patients and needs to look nice.

Carlos is an ambitious man with the brains to someday make a great surgeon, but the lack of social skills to make a good friend. His mind is almost too logical, and always fast with new thoughts, discoveries, and observations. He's a very alert man, with an incredible knack for people watching. Carlos feels different than others, closed off from them in a way, so he makes a habit of sitting in public places like parks and just observing humans, trying to feel a connection. Doctors have, on several occasions, tried to diagnose Carlos with a slight case of Asperger Syndrome, but he refuses to accept it and quickly switches doctors before they can fully discuss the possibility. He's a brilliant man who values science and logic above all else, can easily solve a complicated equation or read someone's expressions well enough to pick out if they're lying, but struggles to relate to others or ask for a girls phone number. While he's not one for social interaction, he's become quite skilled through his people watching at getting a feel for someone very quickly. Picking people's brains is a science of sorts, after all. He can pick up on facial expressions or body language to tell what sort of mood you're in or what you might be thinking, he simply lacks the ability to understand why you feel that way or how to address it. Carlos often accidentally considers himself better than others based purely on intelligence. He can't help but consider people below him if they lack knowledge because in his opinion, intelligence is the purest, most single important trait anyone can possess.

BACKGROUND




While his brother and neighbors were learning and playing futbol on the beach in their tropical town, Carlos was busy with chemistry sets and documentaries. He enjoyed the occasional book as well, but couldn't quite get into the fictional lives of characters and mostly stuck with non-fiction and auto-biographies. His parents were decently wealthy. While the North of Brazil is dangerous, full of gang violence and drug wars, Carlos' hometown in the South was beautiful and mostly peaceful. He reigns from Itajai, Santa Catarina, a municipality with a population of 173,452 full of business men.


His father works as a civil engineer for the city, bringing home a decent paycheck and providing more than enough for his family, and his mother was a professor at Univali, the largest university in the state, up until her retire. Carlos lived in his hometown through high school and relocated to the U.S. for college, where he graduated and received his pre-med degree's, before attending medical school (David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA) where he's pursuing a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree. Carlos was finally taking a short break from school after his second year in med school, to meet his family in Auckland, New Zealand for an educational but beautiful vacation, when the plane went down.

Taylor stands at around 5'6" and has a healthy weight, which reflects in her well-proportione body. She inherited a naturally tropical tan by her father, giving her a complexion to die for. Overall, she has a very shapely, but slightly toned body. Well, shapely once you consider her rather small frame. She's overall rather athletic looking, but borders on lanky due to her long legs. Her face is mostly dominated by soft features, though she does possess rather high cheek-bones, which can make her look a little intimidating at times. Taylor likes make-up and regularly puts it on, but prefers the subtle, natural approach instead of just slathering it over he entire face.




Fashion-wise, the girl is up-to-date, but particularly enjoys the vintage-inspired pieces. Taylor is often seen wearing some sort of denim article, whether it's one of her countless, high-waist cut jeans, a jacket, a shirt or some sort of elaborate accessoire. She has a knack for the rockabilly look that has come back in style through the hipster-wave, almost ALWAYS rocking her red, pin-up girl-esque bandana, which has kind of become a trademark of hers amongst her social circles.

Taylor is a dare-devil kind of girl, and keen on getting as much excitement out of every situation as possible. She loves to go on roadtrips, to parties, or even engage in "childish" things like amusement parks. In fact, Taylor has partly taken on her job as a bartender, because she liked the constant rush of meeting new people and partying with them so much. Though, admittedly, the tips weren't so bad either. Taylor, or Em - like M, for Maria - as some of her friends call her, has even stumbled into a couple of house parties before, without even knowing a single person present. So far, however, her free-spirited and enjoyable personality has usually made everything work out rather smooth. It suits her history of being able to befriend virtually everyone.


Taylor's rather easy to get along with. She carries a no-bullshit attitude with pride, isn't pretentious in the slightest and basically non-judgemental about 99% of the time. She can, however, become furious if someone uses her or abuses her trust. She's also incredibly foul-mouthed from time to time, though it's usually in good spirit. Nevertheless, mixed with her appearance, she often gets judged by people, especially the slightly older ones, as being a rude punk. Her swearing is one of the few things her father adamently lectures her about. Taylor tries to scale down on the cursing, but it seems to come much too naturaly for her. Maria is very loyal and protective of her friends and loved ones, guarding them if she has to, and will always remain by your side, through thick and skin.


Her biggest insecurity is her intellect. While she didn't grew up in a fine environment, she never had too much of a liking for school, usually doing average or even a little below. She managed to perform decently until the end, getting acceptable grades, but just couldn't enroll in college. While she isn't stupid, and not entirely uneducated either, she fully knows she's far from particularly sophisticated. She's a little timid when it comes to deeper themes to converse, and often tries to mask her short-comings by being funny, loud or just changing the subject.

BACKGROUND




Taylor Maria Ryder was raised by a single father. He and his wife, Daniel and Leona Ryder, unable to receive kids of their own, adopted the infant girl and cared for her sweetly. The two decided to adopt a child from her mother's homecountry, Croatia, and at first, they were delighted about the new addition to the family. Unfortunately, the couple experienced severe problems down the road, which lead the two to split shortly after Taylor turned three. Thankfully, the parting went down very civilized. The two behaved like proper adults, and acknowledged that these differences had just arisen from how both evolved throughout their relationship. Instead of turning the whole affair into a mudfight, the two tried to work out something that would work for both parties, as well as their young child.


Ultimately, Maria's father received full custody after peacefully settling the issue with his now ex-fiance, and raised the girl on his own. He had the stronger income, full citizenship since birth and could simply provide a little better. Secretely, Taylor's mother felt overburdened with raising a child, which was probably due to the couple marrying and adopting rather young. Such a task could make anyone question whether they are happy with their life or not. Overall, it worked out well. Taylor's mother pursued her own dreams, and Maria and her father grew closer, without Taylor switching between residencies.


Daniel was very loving, and determined to provide for his little daughter. Often, however, he simply lacked the time to raise her as well and closely watched as he would've liked to, seeing how he had quite the scheduele to uphold, and work a lot to support the both of them on a level he deemed sufficent. Truthfully, he was quite stubborn when it came to their level of comfort, as he himself grew up rather poorly. Overall, the two had it pretty good thanks to his work ethnic, and the little family lived a harmonic life. Taylor grew up as a happy child, doing okay in school, but being more of a playful, social person than an academic one. That, however, helped her build a large circle of friends. She's incredibly comfortable with other people, has an easy time at making friends and has a natural likability about her to most people. She did well in extracurricular activities, was part of many clubs, often organized events and such things and enjoyed life in school, despite average grades. Thankfully, her father never was too much of an academic person himself. Daniel knew that school wasn't for everyone, and that in the end, skill and personality outweighed school-knowledged. Hell, he himself didn't do badly, despite poor grades. He just wanted his girl to be happy.


Taylor has found out that she's adopted about four years ago, though she does not mind whatsoever. Truthfully, it didn't change a single bit for either of the two. Taylor loves her father dearly, being thankful for not only giving her a home, but also doing everything in his power, often to a ridiculous extent, to support her, her wishes and her dreams to the best of his ability. Taylor's decision not to go to college was, in all reality, a much bigger deal between the two. Though it didn't cause major problems, as her father could relate, like mentioned, he DID want his daughter to have a good perspective in life and be successful.


Nevertheless, Taylor ended up not signing out, instead wanting to make some real life experiences. She moved out from home, renting a small place a little outside - just about the only apartment she could afford in Miami. After a few weeks, Taylor found herself struggling with sustaining herself. Desperate for a job, the girl now works 'under the radar' during weekends. She got offered a job in a local nightclub, after being sighted by an employee of said establishent. They wanted a pretty girl to work for them, she needed a job - Obvious answer. Addtionally to her juggling with bottles or setting booze on fire, she occassionally works as a DJane as well. Of course, given that she is only 19, she's not legally allowed to work in such a club, but everything goes under a "don't ask, don't tell" policy in her neighborhood. Taylor enjoys her work, the club's happy with her, no problems on either end. The taxfree income isn't too bad either. Over the week, she works part-time in a bakery, selling pastries. It's not exactly a very skillful job, but she mostly just wants to work to cover her expenses.


A few days ago, shortly before bording on the flight, Taylor cae out to her dad as homosexual, which she was afraid of. Her father expressed support, but did admit that he was a little confused about it, needing some time to order his thoughts about it. The girl secretely hoped for complete, immediate acceptance, but is still relieved about them being able to work it out. Considering the events that followed, it is a great fear of hers not to be able to come back, and that things with her dad end on rather bad terms.

BACKGROUND




Growing up in Surgut, Siberia, Demitri enjoyed a happy childhood. His father placed him in private schooling to insure a more intimate and controlled academic environment, which helped Demitri excel and flourish his knowledge. Unfortunately, by the time he reached the age of 11, his parents lost custody of him and his three sisters due to excessive drinking, and they were placed into an orphanage indefinitely.


As the eldest child, Demitri took it upon himself to protect his sisters as best he could while living in a harsh environment. His sisters had difficulties coping with the drastic change in lifestyles. They had gone from having everything to owning nothing. The only thing they could hope for is for adoption, but Demitri knew he was too old for anyone to want.


Five years passed with only his youngest sister finding adoption, never to be seen again. Demitri was forced into serving within the Russian military since he was now of age. At first his goal was to serve the allotted default years and find his sisters and a stable job to support them. His career within the military took off as his true talents were discovered. By the time he could have left the military, his sisters were gone, and he lost all prospects of locating them.


Years passed, eventually landing him in the Russian Special Forces. Most of the operations he had been through had been a success. Through his numerous encounters with Chechens and their terrorism, he has become an asset with the current war. His career has taken him across the globe, and when he could finally find time away from work, he caught wind of his youngest sister, Allah, living in Los Angeles, California.


After visiting with his youngest sister, she informed him that one of their other sisters, Anastasia, was working in New Zealeand. He and Allah had made plans to live closer together, though she had strong ties to the United States now. Prospects of bringing what he had left of his family back together sent him on a journey from LAX to Auckland, New Zealand, placing him on Flight 725.

BACKGROUND




Tom was born to a middle class family in Vancouver and had an uneventful childhood. Growing up, he thirsted for adventure and when he left college, he bounced between a number of jobs and countries. He lived for several years in India, where he was attacked by dogs. This encounter led him to his girlfriend, with whom he stayed, and while with her he fathered a child quite on accident.


He and his girlfriend broke up some years after, and, unwilling to burden her with the child, he took the role of single father. He went back to Vancouver with his daughter and went into photography, growing a portfolio and a name for himself.

Molly lived a refreshingly normal life - surrounded by loving parents, whose greatest ambitions were to see her grow and thrive in whatever circumstances she found herself. Comfortable with what others might consider mediocrity, Molly took a job as a secretary at a small publishing agency and settled in to a quiet life in upper London.


At twenty-four, Molly began dating an American man named James Calder and the two fell rather quickly in love. Their relationship escalated and a year later, Molly moved to Los Angeles with James. Unfortunately, things took a turn when, a short time later, Molly revealed to James she was several weeks late.


Initially thrilled at the prospect of being a father, James was attentive and loving, but as reality sunk in, so did apprehension and two months into Molly's pregnancy, James broke off their relationship and kicked Molly out.


Horrified by the idea of raising a child on her own, or worse yet, subjecting her parents to such a fate, Molly made plans to give the baby up for adoption to a lovely couple living in Auckland, New Zealand.

At first glance Connie looks like your average teenager. Her Israeli side shine through with her darker skin and mid back length black hair, but anyone with an understanding of genetics can see her hazel eyes and smattering of barely visible freckles under them and across her nose would figure out that she's got some European blood floating around too.




Despite her extremely unassuming figure, standing at 139.7 centimetres and 39.4 kilos, Connie has a toned and lithe build, with a wiry strength brought in from fights she's had to get herself out of. These fights are also a source of the slight scarring that's only noticeable on her knuckles if you pay attention.




Not a big fan of make-up Connie usually sticks with her natural appearance. Due to her understanding of warmer climates in New Zealand, she took her time to swap to black cargo capris, simple below ankle trainers, and a black vest top. She also has a black and red shemagh wrapped around her neck and slightly draped over her shoulders.

A quiet and introspective character, Connie can easily seem a pushover or doormat. That is generally a mistake given the first glance, as she actually possesses a strong will and strength of character most her age often haven't had the opportunity to show.


Due to troubles life has thrown her way, and a strong role model in her father to follow, Connie is an independent youngster whose quick on her feet and quick in her mind, often reacting in an instinctual manner, and time spent with others less well off than herself has given her a fairly strong protective streak, also fuelled by the modelling of her father. While she doesn't often care to talk she instead allows her actions to let others know how she feels, turning her back away if she wishes to stop conversing, or coming to help you clean up a mess with a smile if she feels like asking how your day was. BACKGROUND




Between a father in the Royal Marines and an Israeli(Former Defence Force) mother, Connie grew up knowing the benefits of a well regimented life, and often had very little to worry about outside of meeting her parents expectations, which were, while high, never unreasonably so. An only child, she never grew up wanting for anything and her life was relatively constant for a long time.


Socially she was well known and popular amongst her peers, a member of the girl's football team, and also well known for being able to rough it with the lads as well. Her grades were always top marks and she was a picture perfect young teen going through school. This lasted up until her father was killed in a mugging, and her mother, angry when the perpetrator was let off via technicality and flew out in a drunken rage one night and hunted the man down before putting her former job into full use and extracting her own revenge.


With her father dead and her mother in prison Connie was put into the foster care system from thirteen until she was too old to be kept, but due to the heavily over encumbered system, her foster parents offered her room to stay and help with the children. Connie took them up on the offer, more than happy to try to alleviate any suffering any other child may have been going through as they came into the home.


Still, through out this Connie still wanted for herself, but staying in Scotland hurt her too much and she decided she just needed to go elsewhere, even if it meant she'd have to crawl up from the bottom to find a living once she got there. Saving up as much money as she could, Connie left her home with a simple note saying goodbye and thank you before going to the airport and buying the first available extra seat on a flight. A flight to New Zealand.

Maeve is a beautiful though somewhat plain looking woman. After birthing two children, her once deemed 'perfect body' lost all of its tone and no amount of Yoga and Pilates is going to get her figure back. Maeve (pronounced 'Mave') was born to loving parents in Arizona, where she grew up with six siblings in a cramped four bedroom duplex. Stuck in the middle class her entire life, Maeve always wanted more. After graduating high school she moved to New York and attended Syracuse University where she obtained a degree in ethics. In college, she roommated with her first love, Eddie Delgado, and though they never dated because he had a serious girlfriend and Maeve wasn't one to commit, though they regularly slept together. And that was exactly the kind of girl Maeve was in her youth: a wild, adventurous, beautiful and seductive little thing that fed off of attention. Eddie won tickets to an Aerosmith concert in their senior year of college, and invited Maeve with the condition that she attend with his cousin, who turned out to be grabby and repulsive. When his cousin got physical in the parking lot during a smoke break, taking things too far and not listening to her rejections, a security officer saved her before the man could scar her permanently. Maeve had never been so protected or taken care of by a man, and when the security guard didn't even try to sleep with her when she went home with him that night, she fell head over heels and they were hastily married three months later, at just twenty-two years old. Her first child, a daughter named Greta, came not much later, and everything was downhill from there. Her husband, Nathan, turned out to be a terribly boring man who insisted she drop her partying or any ideas of a career and act as a stay-at-home mother. Her son was born, and her family sucked the life out of her. Her children ruined her perfect body and her husband put away her craving for excitement. For a little less than twenty years, Maeve lived a dull life of going through the motions. While she loves her kids, she also kind of despises them for stealing her youth. Especially her daughter, who has grown into a stunning young lady and recently began dating. Greta's body is thin and curvy, her skin is smooth, and Maeve hates that she's jealous of her own daughter. Somewhere along the way, the woman lost any sort of feelings at all for her husband, and so far in life has simply accepted that she'll die bored and lonely. But along with the recently diagnosed breast cancer came her midlife crisis. Maeve had a vivid dream one night that kickstarted her getaway plan. She wouldn't further destroying her body with chemotherapy and getting her breasts removed, she would live what would most likely be her final year in pure bliss, seeing beautiful places and being as reckless as possible. Late in the night, she emptied one of her husbands debit cards, left a note for her children, and disappeared. The first stop was a couple weeks in California on the beach, where she canoodled with several younger men, picked up her first cigarette in twenty years, and drank her weight in alcohol daily. BACKGROUND




Nicholas Charles Kazinsky was born into a family of one at 3:37 in the morning, on a particularly rainy Monday. The Kazinskys were not a rich family, but instead remarkably middle-class. His father, a photographer, was offered a contract in which he would take pictures for the state of South Carolina, and so they moved from their apartment home in Raleigh, NC, to a fixer-upper in Myrtle Beach, SC.


The beach was Nick's backdoors, literally. He was an active child, preferring to go outside for hours instead of watching the most recent kiddie movie. His father, still struggling to pay for a house in a tourist hot spot, managed to purchase a tv-vcr combination as a birthday surprise.


(( The rest of his early life details are rather boorish and unoriginal. It's not like I don't want to write an essay of his teenage angst!!))


After completing high school, Nicholas opted out of college and decided to start his own surf shop. With the aid of a business-savvy friend, they started up 'The Big Wave Surf Shop'. Their income was rather pitiful at first, and soon Nicholas found himself reaching into emergency funds. Salvation arrived in the form of a commercial.


A much larger company had decided they liked Nick's look. He was 'cool-looking' to children, attractive to high-schoolers and college age visitors, and unlike many other surfers in his area, did not have a criminal record. Whether by Nick's luck or the well-designed commercial plan, the company saw a massive spike in sales. He was chosen to be the official mascot in the commercials.


When, several years later, his contract expired, the company bid farewell to their mascot and went in a different direction. Having enough money to secure a comfortable life for the next five years, Nick chose to become a beach lifeguard. This worked well enough for around two years, before he was fired for physically assaulting some chump who had the audacity to try to steal his girl.


And now, the present. Currently Nick's surf shop has been closed for a couple of years, and he was fired from his lifeguard position two months ago. He's been invited to go catch a few waves in NZ, in order to celebrate one of his buddy's recent engagement.

Adrian is an antisocial and slightly cynical boy. He has a hard time connecting to the real world and feels disconnected from his surroundings and from other people. However, although one may think he is emotionally weak due to his illness, he possesses an odd, inner mental strength. When pushed to the edge, he doesn't give up, and always pushes forward (hence why he has not attempted suicide, even while off his medications). Although he isn't a strong, leader-like figure – despite his last name Kaiser, which literally means "emperor" in German – he does have small, occasional moments of brilliance. Like many who have went through depression as intense as his, he dislikes seeing people as sad as him and it can sometimes bring out his humanity and drive him to help others in small ways.

BACKGROUND




Adrian was supposed to live a happy life. And, for a time, he did – his parents, Ellen and Mark Kaiser, were young, happy, and had a stable income. However, on September 20th, 2005, the Kaisers' home caught fire and burned down with the addition of both of Adrian's parents. At 8 years old, he was the only survivor, with burns along his stomach and the left side of his body, neck and face.


After hospitalization, Adrian was sent into the foster program, but experienced many problems such as constant crying, screaming fits, violent flashbacks and horrible anxiety attacks. A half year later, he was diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Finding foster homes and families willing to adopt him became even harder, and he spent long periods of time without proper medications for his illness. He began a habit of cutting himself at a mere 10 years old.


When he was 12, however, things began to take a turn for the better. A kind, middle-aged couple by the names of Samantha and Frank Stoll in Torrance, CA took him in, illness and all, and worked to give him proper treatment and care. They bought him all the prescribed medicines he needed and took him to counseling for his PTSD as well as helping him stop cutting.


All the help Adrian received from the Stolls helped him tremendously, but he still was never the same. He still had crying and anxiety attacks occasionally, and he was a secluded and even slightly cynical boy who didn't have any friendships.


6 years later, Adrian had successfully graduated high school. He and the Stolls were ecstatic, despite Adrian not having applied for any colleges yet. As part of their celebration, Samantha suggested they go to her birth country of New Zealand. With their exciting vacation ahead of them, the three booked a flight from LAX to Auckland, New Zealand on September 20th – the same date as the accident. The Stolls didn't want to make it on that date, but it was the only date that worked with their jobs, and Adrian didn't seem to notice, either.

With his grandfather being a notorious human trafficker, his father being a suspected arms dealer and his mother a prominent cocaine dealer, it was Ollie's birthright to become one with the criminal underground. However, the difference between he and the rest of his successful family is that, well, Ollie is not successful. His tendency to brag and lie about his achievements and merits have landed him in troublesome spots with not only the law but the criminal underground as well.


In a recent sting operation, UZ and NZ officials worked with criminal tip-offs to bring about the arrest of Ollie on three hundred smuggling and trafficking felonies. He could only The US government agreed to deport him so he could face judgement in his own homeland.

A written appearance (One Paragraph): Austin stands to be a good 5 foot 6, and weighs around 137 Ibs because of his easy weight loss. He possesses light skin, and is rather toned despite never really working out. However, this is only because he doesn't gain weight and is naturally thin, allowing him to show muscle that wouldn't normally be seen if he were to gain a couple pounds. His eyes are almond shaped, short lashes, and hold a dark-brown to their color. Because of his defined jawline and high cheekbones, Austin's cheeks look naturally sunken. He retains full lips on both top and bottom, and they attain an innate tint of pink. His hair is wavy and can be described as brownish-orange, but more so brown. As a child, Austin always took an interest in other languages after watching an American TV show called American Dad at the age of 14. When he turned 16, Austin traveled to American as a foreign exchange student in Philadelphia for 11 months before returning home and setting out to, once more, travel back and live there. This took a lot of work and studying; a lot of effort to do, but he eventually did it. Upon moving to America at the age of 19 to live with his grandmother whom he had never met, Austin set out to get into a good college. If he were to stay in Japan, he'd become his father's successor to the company, but that was never his dream. One tragedy he has experienced...was the death of his youngest sister, Mei. She, too, was weak at birth. She was always sick and easily bruised. Austin was told that, after moving to America, she accompanied her father to the eldest sister's baseball game and fell down the bleachers. After taking her to the hospital, the doctor revealed that her skull was fractured, and she had a few clots that had been building up since before the accident. When they put Mei to sleep that night, she never woke. Austin was devastated to hear this, and planned on visiting her grave soon.

BACKGROUND




Martine was born to a single mother, Sonja, in Midtown, a district in Atlanta. Sonja worked hard to put food on the table for herself, and for her daughter. Growing up, Martine always wanted to be an artist, and wanted to create things. Sonja decided that she would let Martine take arts and crafts lessons at the nearest youth center, and thus, a dream was born. Throughout high school, Martine never really stood out, except for art. She got decent grades in most subjects, but she got straight As in Art. By the time she graduated high school, Sonja had pooled enough money, to send Martine to Spelman College, where she majored in Art and Art History. Now in her final year of college, Martine went on Flight 725, for a day-trip to help discover herself.

Intelligent, generous to a fault. Duncan is the sort of person who has trouble letting go of a problem he thinks he can solve. He is practical about it. But if he is forced to let go, it will eat at him.


Duncan always had a powerful love of science and science fiction.

WEAKNESSES


His mental blocks have been anything regarding electronics and mechanics. He is paranoid about anything electrical practically conspiring to shock him or burn out if he even looks at it wrong. Okay, maybe he isn’t completely serious about this. But if there is anyone else, he’ll offer the job to them.


Duncan is right. He would argue the ‘proper’ definition of a word, even if Webster disagreed with him. Okay, he isn’t usually quite THAT bad, but he has done so before.


Duncan displays a relatively low empathy. Someone could die and his thoughts would turn to loss of a skill set. He’ll have to watch himself so as not to upset people by pointing out the loss.

BACKGROUND




Duncan Moran has a number of aliases - all lawful. Most were for work. The earliest ones were for a troubled past involving his family and a history of abuse. He left home when he was 15 and enlisted in the USAF at age 17. He retired from the service in 2000 in time for his 37th birthday, just a little over a year before 911 with a rank of Major. During his military career he pursued and completed degrees in Chemistry, Physics and Math, with an Associated in Russian Area studies.


At 37 years of age he secured an internship at Sandia Labs (Kirtland AFB, NM) while pursuing advanced degrees at UNM. Six years later (2006) he began a career as a science fiction novelist.


By age 47 (2010) Duncan published 6 major science fiction spy novels. He still isn’t especially comfortable with fame, but it does afford him a rather nice lifestyle. He had been saving some 75% of his paycheck for most of his military career. He has traveled to all seven continents and is now working on his next round. Antarctica, he has decided, is a once in a lifetime opportunity. (Too damnably cold for his old bones.)
