Dan nodded simply, looking back towards the ground, "Alright Masako," he said, although he did not sound all too convinced. "But.... I don't know how to do any of those things, Masako," he admitted. "And the camp is in danger, and the best way I can help is by being here to help defend the camp," he explained. "I know how you feel about this place, Masako, but it is the just thing to do." He explained, although he wasn't sure she would believe him.

Laikas appreciated the shade; he liked being in the shadows, it helped him be a bit calmer. He didn't mind the light, but darkness provided more advantages. He was sat against a tree, playing with a small, silver pocket watch with his right hand. On his left was a bow, intricate patterns adorned it and the patterns seemed to pulse and radiate energy. He sighed, watching people pass by.

Callie was doing her usual walk around camp when she spotteda camper she had not yet met. Ad usual she had a quiver full of homemade arrows at her back but her bow was back in her cabin. She stopped to greet the unknown camper as was custom for her. "Hi there," she said cheerily.

@Baconhands

Laikas looked up at her, tilting his head slightly. He sighed, before he spoke, his accent distinctly Russian, "Hello." Laikas moved his left hand to rest on his bow; he was never quick to trust people, he knew she was just a camper here but he was a cautious person.

@ShurikenPhoenix

Callie noticed his hand go to his bow and knew he was clearly slow to warm to people. He would need to at least be able to work with them all if he was going to be in this battle though, and being a daughter of Apollo she was usually good at putting people at ease.

"Nice bow," she complimented sincerely, "I'm Callie by the way. You're not from Apollo cabin are you?"

She couldn't be sure since her cabin was so big. Her dad clearly got around.

@Baconhands

Laikas chuckled slightly and shook his head, "I'm afraid musical talent evades me." He looked up at her, relaxing the hand on his bow, "Nice to meet you Callie."

He kept fiddling with the small pocket watch in his right hand, occasionally glancing at it. He didn't mind having this conversation, nobody had came to talk to him except Chiron.

Masako

Masako looked at him in horror, "what? Dan If you fight now you'l be killed. No you need to rest that's the right thing to do." She put her hand on his, "I need you to promise me that you won't go fight. We need to find a way to keep you alive then, maybe you can go fight. But in this condition you will die and I don't want that." She gripped his hand tightly, "Dan please don't do this, just stay safe. I don't think I could handle loosing another person I care about."

@SirDerpingtonIV

Callie grinned and laughed a little. "Musical talent evades a lot of Apollo cabin too. Most of my siblings are tone deaf. So then who is your godly parent?" She asked, glad that he had seemed to relax a little.

@Baconhands

Laikas almost grinned, looking at her, "Wouldn't have believed that." When she asked who his godly parent was he sighed, "Well I don't believe you have a cabin for him here, which I find funny. But I guess you can't predict that sort of stuff can you?" He paused for a couple of moments.

Callie raised an eyebrow and looked over at Hermes cabin. They were pretty overcrowded. "Oh I see, mind if I take a guess?" She asked, finally noticing the pocket watch he was fiddling with but not figuring it out yet.

Dan sighed, "Masako, what if the defense fails because I wasn't there to help? What if everyone died because of me? What if you died because I wasn't there to help?" He asked her, eyes watering, voice quivering slightly. He gave her hand a small squeeze, "Masako, there's the chance I die anyways. And if it helps, I'll stick by you in the fighting," he said, before adding, "But I cannot promise you I will stay out of the fight. I have to help," he explained.

Laikas shrugged, "Be my guest." He kept fiddling with the watch with a slight smile on his face, winding it forwards and backwards, resetting it perfectly and repeating the process.

Callie was just about to speak when a girl with bright red and orange hair bounded over with work goggles perched on her head and a large clump of metal in her hand.

"Your dad is the time dude!" She guessed with a smug grin.

Callie shrugged, shaking her head. "Hi Hayley..." She muttered.

@Baconhands

Laikas allowed himself a chuckle, "The time dude? Yeah, pretty much."

He thought quickly, The time dude. I'm sure he'll appreciate that name. He nodded, "Hayley and Callie, you two sisters by chance? Half sisters probably."

Hayley laughed hard, "heck no we aren't sisters, which is fortunate really," she winked at Callie who tried not to roll her eyes.

"Hayley is Hephaestus daughter and when she isn't flirting with everyone, she is a great inventor." Callie explained, "so your father is Chronus?" She added.

@Baconhands

Laikas spoke quickly to correct her, "Chronos." After a moment he sighed, "Nice to meet you Hayley." The forge god, the music god; he could understand how one might be good in a fight, the latter, Apollo, he couldn't. He grinned slightly, "I'd show off but I'm told I'm a humble person."

@ShurikenPhoenix

"Nice to meet you too Doctor Who, may I call you that? I'm gonna call you that..." It seemed Hayley wasn't giving him much choice in the matter either way. She winked at him before bounding away, twirling her beloved 'hammer of death' as she went.

Callie didn't say anything but just stared after the girl incredulously.

@Baconhands

Laikas tilted his head, not quite sure what she meant, he'd never seen the show before and had never heard of it, "Doctor Who? May I ask what that is?" His irises, the cogs that they were, ticked slightly in intrigue, although it was rather unnoticeable.

Masako

Masako sighed, she knew she couldn't change his mind. He cared about his place and these people even if she didn't. "Fine, but I'm not leaving your side. My top priority is going to be your safety. Got it?" She put her hand on his cheek and smiled at him, "You're a good person Dan. The world world be crushed if it lost you. Don't give up on your life, because I won't." Holding his hand tightly for a moment before letting his hand go.

Callie turned back to him and smiled "it's a TV show about an alien time traveler who travels space and time in a police box. Sorry about Hayley, she's a little uh...energetic."
@Baconhands
Oras shook his head, "I think a little is an understatement." He stood, picking up his bow and slinging it over his left shoulder. Looking at both of them, he sighed, "I'm told that there's a battle coming up. I don't care if it's real or not, is there a practice range here?"

@ShurikenPhoenix

Callie nodded and pointed out the arena and shooting range, now the infirmary was also on the arena space. "Just over there. We need all the help we can get in this battle." Callie frowned at the thought of the battle. She didn't want to think about it.

@Baconhands

Laikas studied her, "You're scared aren't you?" He started walking towards the shooting range, "Walk with me." He almost insisted. Oras looked at his right arm, where an imprint of a clock ticked in real time.

@ShurikenPhoenix

Callie sighed. She walked alongside him but she didn't want to admit she was worried. She was pretty much the camp optimist. "I'm sure we will win the battle. Almost everyone here can do their part..." She assured, picking up a bow along the way. Even she had gotten better at close combat now, and the Athena kids always had a plan.

Laikas looked at her sideways, not quite convinced, taking in particular the word, 'almost'. He nodded, "What do you mean by 'almost' everyone?"
