Fandom Avatar: Spirits Awaken

Ina turned to Shing, surprised that they could agree on something. She looked up and noticed her spirit scorching the ceiling. She raised her hand up and touched it, absorbing the spirit into her body. Her eyes turned from gold to a burning blue and she looked back at the group. "Let's get this over with. I have a promise to keep, to the Masked Man. He's a petty little human without honor or respect. I am sad to say I don't know much about his fighting style, but I can say he is strong. You all will have trouble getting to him. He has a elite guard of benders and killers. I smell 10. "

Nami turned to the spirit as it spoke of The Masked Man.

"I don't think any of us know his fighting style. But I do know one thing. The Masked Man only has one thing on his mind. And that's victory, no matter what it takes. Whatever is waiting for us up there...We'll be lucky to get out of it alive."

@The Suspicious Eye

(( Ugh, I'm late. From what I read, the elevator cord snapped and wasn't fixed? ))

Shin had zoned out of reality. He was still trying to figure out what had happened, and the arrow wound he had in his arm was stinging. He decided to keep this to himself. He heard the noise of something snapping, and, coming back to reality, saw it was the elevator's cord. Walking over and examining the mess, he got into a bending stance. "I may be able to fix it..." He said to nobody specific. He lifted his hands into the air in an attempt to lift the elevator cord, and he grunted in pain as his arm began to hurt more, but he didn't let it phase him. The cord lifted and snapped back into place, and bound itself back into place. He fell on the ground in a kneeling position, sweating and panting. His vision was blurry. He read about these conditions before... He was poisoned, probably by the arrow that hit him.

Ina turned to the girl her scent was faintly familiar. "You all will be lucky to make it out alive. I don't die easily. The Masked Man may have victory on his mind, but I have made him a promise. And I don't back out from my promises." Ina told the Masked Man that she would be the one to end his life. If it costs the life of, almost, everyone here to make that happen, so be it. She sniffed the girl, politely, and tilted her head. "You smell deeply of this place, so does that man over there." She pointed to the man on Jeng's back. Her glowing blue eyes sharpened as she spoke. "Were you part of the group who captured spirits?"

@Wolfette157

Nami watched as the spirit smelt her and sharply looked at her as she asked Nami questions. She gives a solemn smile and then speaks in a smooth quiet voice.

"No. I was kidnapped by a bunch of smugglers as they raided my village looking for spirits. They abducted me and took me for my healing powers. This mission can earn me my freedom from here." She then look around and saw a man on the ground in pain. She could sense his pain, it was a skill she had developed from many years of healing. She walked over to the guy.

"Hello? I don't have much water here, but I may be able to help you." She offers in a kind voice as she kneels down and begins gathering water from moist soil deep beneath them.

@The Suspicious Eye @Samevi

"Hey, did you hear about that gangster on 5th street? Found him half-dead this morning with some holes punched into him."

"Yeah, that sounds brutal. Can't say that he didn't have it coming to him, the guy was paying off cops y'know?"

The young man with hair like a crow's nest turned his head slightly as he heard the gossip behind him. The streets weren't particularly busy as always, most people didn't have a reason to come to a primarily non-bending part of Republic City.

"You know... It could have been that Blue Spirit fellow they've been talking about these days."

The florist continued to water the panda lilies that were on display. He grimaced slightly and tightened his grip on the watering can. Underneath the simple white button-up's left sleeve was a particularly nasty burn that had been salved and washed. The young man let his guard down for a brief moment and smiled as he recalled the previous night's events. He recalled the terrified expression on the criminal's face, the blood staining his coat, and the thrill of a successful hunt.

Li set the watering can down and slowly untied the apron's back knot. He folded it as neatly as he could and informed his manager that he was done for the day. He greeted his coworker as he passed through the door and slipped a gray flat cap on. There was time to kill before he'd start his daily routine.

(Darn kind water benders and their consideration, Ina doesn't know know to deal with that.)

Ina nodded "I see, we have somewhat similar goals." She watched as Nami walked over to the man. A water bender, why are they always so calm? I don't know how to deal with such stillness. "If this metal thing is the exit. I advise all of you to take it and leave. I can deal with the Masked Man on my own." She was hesitant, but her voice held strong. She knew she could take out the guards, but could she take out the Masked Man as well? She felt unsure, especially with only one spirit. I need more souls to do this, but I will not risk the endangerment of the Avatar and these prisoners. She didn't like to admit it, but she had a soft spot for water benders.

@Wolfette157 @Everyone

Nami collected a handful of water from the moisture in the soil around her. She held it over the man's wound with one hand as she pulled out the arrow with the other.

"This is gonna hurt, okay? Just stay calm." And she tugged on the arrow. She pulled it out and set it on the ground and observed his wound.

"It looks like you've been poisoned. You may feel alittle light-headed."

She then warped the water around his shoulder so that it provided a cool feeling of comfort. She bended a little water into the bloodstream to cleanse it and dilute the poison. After she healed the wound, she tore off a piece of her skirt and wrapped it around the wound.

She got up silently and stood.

"I don't recommend that. We've got to earn our way out of here as well. We'll help you." Nami says with a kind smile.

@Samevi @The Suspicious Eye

Opal looked between the members of the group, thinking about what the two had said. So, at least 11 well trained men, against their Avatar, fighter, a few benders of whatever ability level, and a spirit, all with a ragged firebender in tow. Even though Jeng was the Avatar, she wasnt too sure about their chances. “I think the only way to get out of here is to use each other. Even if we don't like it." She murmured, biting her thumb nail impatiently.

The door of the tiny apartment room swung open and Li stepped in with a bag of groceries. He glanced around his humble abode and set down the brown paper bag before carefully engaging each lock on the door. There were three in total, two using keys and one used a combination.

He kept the shutters closed, letting the setting sun's orange rays soak his room through the slits. The man made his way into his bedroom and flipped on the radio. A spirited announcer's commentary on a pro-bending match blared loudly from the small device.

With no one the wiser he pulled out the drawer on his night stand and retrieved his two sheathed knives. He grunted and lifted his mattress out of the bed frame and revealed the folded set of clothing. Li opened up a small suitcase covered in travel stickers and carefully pulled out a wrapped package. He carefully felt it up and opened it slowly, almost as if he was opening a present.

The vigilante laid out all his gear on the ground. Li focused on sharpening one of his knives on a whetstone, tapping his feet to a song that just started playing. With any luck, something more interesting than gangsters would appear on his nightly patrols.

Opal looked at Chi, her eyes dancing nervously. “Yes. If what they say is accurate, it's probably the only way we're going to get out of here." She said, crossing her arms over her chest. “I don't think any smaller group of us could get through. We'd be either captured or killed." She reiterated, making her opinion clear.

"Well we got another option. We can stay down here and wait till they think we were just a figment of their imagination. But since we are in a cave I prefer not to. Look we have been here forever, we are healed. If things go sound we can easily cause a distraction. Now that we have a water bender the two of us can easily create a smoke screen. I admit the old geezer may be useless so as soon as we get out Crystal can take him, she is capable of carrying one person." Shing said getting impatient as he felt it slightly harder to breath and was it just him or were the walls closing in (it was just him)? As he talked Crystal went around and healed anyone that seemed hurt and did what she could for their fatigue.

"Look, we have the avatar, from the amount of faith he has in you I can only assume you are a great fighter and you are from the little I saw. We have two more earthbenders, a waterbender, and two firebenders of sort. Well really one firebender and then the spirit." He stated calmly as he rolled his head trying to ignore how hard it was getting to breath. "As for strategy I think Jeng, the spirit and I should be the main attackers taking most of the attention for ourselves. Yeah we will also get hurt a bit more, but with this you guys can attack their flank. Chi could easily help us by watching our backs and creating a rock wall in case we don't see an attack coming. Also if we want to catch them off guard I think Opal or Chi should act injured or exhausted so they focus less on you." He said coolly. "Honestly I don't care at the moment, let's just go." He muttered as he looked around doing his best to not start panicking. @Wolfette157 @Samevi @Flutterby @jamaicanviking @The Suspicious Eye @NessieAlways

CHI

Chi could see that Shing was acting alittle strange.

Being in a cave isn't that bad... Or maybe it's just because I'm an Earthbender. She walked over to Shing and put a hand on his shoulder and gave him a reassuring smile.

"It'll be okay." She then turned to everyone else and said, "C'mon guys. We've been down here too long and need oxygen soon. Let's get up there and kick some butt!"

@Peaceswore @everyone

Jeng furrowed his brow as Shing gave his piece on how to attack; the rest of the plan was sound, but obviously he wasn't too fond of using Chi or Opal as bait. Especially Opal. Then again, it was only a backup in case they needed it, so he decided to let it slide for now. "I look forward to seeing this 'Masked Man' person," Jeng started, "and showing him just what happens when you piss off the Bridge Between Two Worlds." Gently, he put down the man he was carrying, shooting him a slightly apologetic smile. "Sorry, sir. Can't kick butt while carrying someone."

With that, the elevator came to a sudden halt (and for a moment, so did Jeng's heart.) Disregarding his own jumpiness, the Avatar exhaled deeply, cracking his neck in anticipation. "Well, it's now or never. We've fought worse before, so this should be a piece of cake, right?" He opened the door to the elevator, a complacent smirk growing on his face as he stepped out into the tunnel.

Nami follows Jeng into the elevator while Chi stays behind with Shing.

Chi wasn't to happy about Shing being one of the main ones in this battle because that meant that he would be more likely to get hurt. Gravely hurt.

"Are you sur-" Chi begins but cuts herself off, knowing that he might take offense to her question. So she just corrects herself with a simple, "C'mon. We've got some butt to kick." As she gives him a small smile.

@Peaceswore

Ina smiled ad shook her head humans have an interesting spirit about them. They are willing to go die for their honor. "Alright. I don't usually follow plans. Especially made by humans, but I'll do what is needed. However...." She looked at them bloodlust emanating from her. "I will be the one to kill the Masked Man. His head is mine." Her tone was deep and serious, she wouldn't let the Masked Man get out alive. It was the one thing she was determined to do.

@Everyone

(Who are we waiting on?)

The fighter frowned at Shing's overconfidence, not so convinced they had this fight in the bag. But she didnt argue, simply followed them into the elevator. Her customary spot next to Jeng was taken by their weak companion, so she ended up next to the spirit. “I don't think any of us would really mind. I have a feeling he won't be willing to go anywhere alive." She said, a bad feeling settling heavily in her gut. We should just run. We should just did a way out. The fearful voice in the back of her mind was almost drowned out by the adrenaline pounding through her ears, but it was there. It was there, making her want to reach for Jeng, but she forced it down.

Regaining consciousness shortly after collapsing on the ground with little dignity, Shin saw he was in the elevator. He was still feeling a little light-headed, but other than that, he was alright. He sat up, clutching his head in his left hand and supporting himself with his right. "What... Happened to me...?" He spoke, before moving his hand down to his throat. It ached a bit.

Nami saw the guy she healed earlier wake up.

"Oh, you're awake! Are you okag? I healed you earlier after you passed out. You were poisoned, but it should be better now." She says giving him a warm smile.

@Samevi

The unwanted guest have arrived, that's what the Masked Man thought as he saw the Avatar and the gang appeared before him. He stood with his men, standing between them and the mine entrance in the large but not really wide tunnel. The gas lamp flicker occasionally, somewhat raising the tension for this showdown.

The Masked Man snapped his finger, an order to his subordinate to start attacking and 'left none alive'

(ps: it's 1:40AM here, gonna sleep now. Please tag when whenever you engage the Masked Man in battle. Don't kill him)

Shin heard a voice, and he looked towards where he heard it. He saw a female water tribe member. "You healed me?" He asked. He felt his arm, where the wound was, and found it had healed. "Wow. Thank you." He said. "I don't believe we've met each other, formally, that is." Shin got up and extended his arm for a handshake "I'm Shin, what's your name?" He asked.

The waiting game was always the tensest part of the vigilante's hunt. The Blue Spirit kept a firm grip on one of the tiles of the city's distinctive curved roofs. The windows of this particular apartment weren't on, either its occupants were asleep or no one's been desperate enough to move into this part of the city. His coattails flowed in the crisp night wind as he remained hidden above the gas-lit streets.

Under the mask, Li took a deep breath as he kept his body rigid and unmoving. His rope dart was anchored his left hand and the small metal spike and red flag dangled by his feet. He scanned the streets, apparently there had been muggers active around here. He carefully shifted his footing as he felt the lactic acid building in his muscles. The anticipation beat out the growing soreness, however, and the florist continued to wait.

As he waited on his perch the man began to review his own fighting style. Oddly enough, Li had never been taught chi-blocking despite how useful it would be in his line of work. Rather, the vigilante's fighting style was a mixture of the ancient martial arts that would eventually become the backbone of modern day bending. These were lost arts from a time where humanity fought with fists and steel rather than mastery over nature. He smirked under his blue mask - someone like him was an antique. A final remnant of the humans who refused the blessings of the lion turtles out of pride.

(Since no one else posted)

As soon as the door opened Shing to a deep breathe and shoot blue flames at the ten guards creating a cover. He turned to the others quickly before smirking. "Take out earth benders first they have a bigger advantage." He said before running in he tried to figure out which one was an earth bender by their built, but before he could do much one of the warriors stepped in front of him and sent a flame kick to Shing's head. Shing was able to react in time and bend backwards avoiding the kick. He landed on his hands and sent a flame slash at the fire bender who dodged if and sent two fire punches at Shing. Shing wasn’t able ot move out of the way since he had been in a handstand. This attack made him fly back a bit but he was able to land on his feet. He then placed flames at his feet and boosted himself forward ignoring the pain he felt on his back.

He got in close and sent a punch that’s speed had increase because of fire he had shooting out of his elbow. However the man caught his fist and held on it tightly as he threw Shing into a nearby wall. Shing coughed a bit before getting up and wiping his mouth. He was about to attack again, but the ground below him go soft and before he could do anything his leg was incased in an earth pillar.

The bender that was doing this was toying around with Shing and made it go up his legs slowly as Shing struggled to get out. As he struggled the firebender he was faceing charged at him, however before he could attack Crystal flew in and began to claw the earth benders face. The earth bender screamed in pain and it caught the fire benders attention for a split second, giving Shing the opportunity he was looking for.

In a flash Shings legs erupted into blue flames destroying the rocks that had previously surrounded him. He shot forward and grabbed the firebender by the face, increasing the heat in his hands to make his grip hurt. He then used brought the benders face close to his before smirking. “Better luck next time.” With that he tightened his grip as fire left his elbow giving him the force to throw the bender at the earth bender who was about to attack Crystal.

He threw them and their head collided, but that wasn’t enough to knock them out. The earth bender shot a pillar of rocks hitting Shing in the gut once again sending him flying. Though he used the force of the blow to land against a wall and push off. With this force he punched the firebender that was charging right in the temple effectively knocking down. Not taking any chances Shing grabbed the man by the head and smashed his face into the ground twice effectually knocking him out.

He then faced the earth bender and charged him. The said earth bender create a wall of stone to protect himself. However Shing jumped into the air and ignited his foot. He then sent the kick full force down using gravity and his body weight. After a few seconds the rock wall broke and his kick landed on his head knocking his face into the ground. The force created a small crater where the guys face was laying. Panting heavily Shing backed away trying to catch his breath unaware of a boulder was being hurled his direction.

Jeng was soon met by one of the Masked Man's henchmen, whom (unsurprisingly) decided to engage the young Avatar in lieu of surrendering; this was going to be a stimulating fight indeed. He threw a barrage of frozen daggers at Jeng, which were quickly intercepted with a thick slab of rock. However, his assailant quickly followed up with a spinning razor-sharp ring of ice, which sliced through the slab like a hot knife through butter; Jeng was left with barely enough time to duck before he lost his head. Holy crap, this guy's fast! He thought, deciding that he would need to change his strategy entirely.

Just then, Jeng quickly caught the sight of the gas lamps, and he quickly formulated a plan. He brought his fist up in an uppercut, causing a narrow section of the ground to shoot up into the ceiling with a loud CRASH! As expected, the waterbender quickly dodged to the side, placing himself ever closer to the wall; ever closer to one of the lamps. With a complacent smirk on his face, Jeng closed his fist and shattered the glass, flinging it at his adversary. Catching him by surprise, the waterbender was soon met with a flurry of glass shards to his face. With the man now blinded, Jeng was able to follow up with a well-placed uppercut, sending an earthen column driving into his jaw. “He’s not gonna be eating solid food for a while,” the Avatar said with a satisfied sigh as his assailant hit the floor.
