Fantasy ~ FableWood ~

When Joy transformed and landed on Elena, she didnt know why but it made the human girl panick suddenly. She let out a short, higher pitched than usual "wait" that sounded more like a squawk. In that moment, she caught sight of Nyr falling and plastered on an apologetic smile.

"She.. was really exhausted. Im sorry Joy.. i was just surprised."

she went to the room she stayed in, grabbing a blanket and pillow. Elena shakily and carefully wrapped the raven over with the warm fabric and lifted her head, sliding the pillow under.

"She should lean on us more.."

I laughed "It is fine Elena I jist wanted you to wake up and it clearly worked. And if Nyr turns to a raven I could easily carry her well flying so she isn't in harms way." I said not at all offended.

"Indeed." Ward replied with a sigh. Then with adept skill he scooped up the unconscious raven with one wing and slipped her onto his shoulders. He held his wings like a swan keeping a signet, his primaries raised on both sides of his back like a cradle. There she could rest on her back comfortably without falling.

"I will keep her safe." He promised Elena, and started down the forest trail. The trees creaked and bowed happily in the light breeze, reveling in its warmth. Everywhere small creatures flitted about the underbrush or through the air. Songbirds united in chorus. As they walked the trees began to get bigger, and bigger until Ward began to feel the size of a sparrow. It wasn't just the trees either, massive toadstools huddled by elephantine trunks. Flowers longer than Ward's wingspan opened to greet the morning light. A beetle scurried across their path, only it was the size of a labrador.

"Oooh I sure hope the forest is the only thing that's gotten this big..."

Leia walked beside Rose as they went. "Hey, uh, I never thanked you. You saved my life...so, thank you." She smiled at the girl er, dragon. Something she wasn't used to doing with strangers. Then she noticed that something was bothering Rose, the expression on her face said so anyway.

"Is something wrong?" Leia asked, her tone filled with genuine concern.

Rose looked over to Leia while they walked and said nervously " Uuummm...no, why do you ask? " . she didn't want to sat what she saw.

Elena sighed and watched Nyr out of the corner of her eye with concern, then falsly smile to Joy. No point in being so worried. Everything was okay. Or will be.

She took out the notebook and now ink filled pen she had, and started back to writing and drawing. She drew a griffen holding an elegant raven. All of the companions were in their non humanoid forms. Every once and a while she would stumble from distraction, but she managed well. Her eyes ran across the forest trees, stiller than the life around it. She wished to try something, but was unsure of it would work or be futile.

"Hey.. um, Ward. I think i found a way I could be useful.. maybe?"

She shifted back and appeared human beside Elena "I can tell your scared," she said, her usually joyous eyes flickering with hurt "Do you really think I would hurt you?" I asked.

Ward turned his amber eyes on Elena, a curious light flickered in them. "Go on." he said, lifting the tip of his beak to emphasize his reply. He had only heard storied about humans becoming stronger the longer they stayed in FableWood. Perhaps she was discovering her power?

"Well, you look kind of worried about something. Its really hard for me to imagine someone like you could be worried about anything." She replied. leia decided not to press Rose any further, if the dragon wanted to share, she would, if not, it was none of Leia's business. "I still don't believe I'm not dreaming...this is all so surreal." And yet she couldn't contain her excitement. While her parents spent their time glued to the set, Leia spent her time either outdoors or reading. Her grandmother had bought her a book of Grimm's fairy tales and this forest seemed like it was a page come to life.

((I have to pack it in for tonight, sorry guys))

Rose nodded k owing she was worried...worried about who those other dragons where. Her parents? Brother and sister? She kept thinking about it. Spacing out she didn't pay attention to her surroundings and tripped she felt forwards. Her wings came out and stopped her in mid air flapping steadily she peaked and giggled

Elena smiled sadly at Joy, shaking her head.

"No.. i trust you, i think. I just dont know any of you well enough to feel like, no. Nevermind." She didnt need to make anyone feel bad.

"Im sorry."

For Ward, she nodded and looked down at her book. Lifting the pen now took strength and energy, as though the marks came at a price of exertion.

"Alright.. watch the tree."

Stopping short, she started scribbling furiously away. While in deep concentration, a branch above them lowered slowly and shakily which held what looked like an enormous peach.

The branch turned to a hand of wood and placed the fruit in front of them. The fruit which existed in the tree before her experiment slid in half, revealing its tender meat as the branch turned back into its original form amd placement.

Elena lifted her head, panting ever so slightly, a single bead of sweat formed on her brow.

"When i went to bed, it was harder to do.."

Nyr shifted uneasily in the nightmare she had dropped into. She was in utter darkness, surrounded by evil looking crimson red eyes. She looked at herself and what she saw was a little girl with but sprouts of wings and she knew where she was.

She was home when she was young.

She tried to run, run as fast as she could but the evil glares followed here wherever she went. Yelling at them to stop she just grew more desperate but then she stumbled into something - or someone. A massive raven with feathers of twilight blue stood before her. A familiar form, one which she admired and feared in all of her life.

" Father... " she whispered faintly.

" You are my child no more, vermin! " thundered the colossal raven, striking fear in the already panicking girl's heart. " Be gone from my sight, let the darkness consume you, you pathetic excuse of life. "

And with that her father tossed her to the hungrily glaring red eyes. She screamed as the murdering beaks started to tear at her flesh...

" No... stop! Please stop! " she whimpered pitifully in her sleep. Then suddenly a burst of power unleashed from her body, knocking her off from Ward's back and shaking the nearby trees. " NO!" she yelled one last time then she looked around. She was in the waking world once more - surrounded by startled faces.

Rose squeaked and fell backwards onto her bottom her wing extended flustered. She blinked and the blat of energy made the necklace react she winced and close her eyes. The necklace had swirling green lights floating just above the metal.

OOC: Okay, I have no idea what is going on xD . I missed 14 pages or so, so i'm just going to jump in and hope for the best.

Medusa's breaths were shallow as she slept. there were no signs of her waking up soon, or were there? Medusa had been sleeping for the past 25 years. The curse was bothersome, but manageable. It was her own fault after all. Isn't it funny? Medusa, once known as a powerful and feared witch was put to sleep by her own curse. How is the curse broken? Well, considering that it will be broken in a matter of seconds it probably has something to do with the humans.

The cave was dark, shadows crept in all corners. The only thing that pierced the dark was Medusa's glowing green orbs. The darkness that she saw changed from the inside of her eyelids to the shadows of the cave. Though it was slight, the change was nice. 25 years of slumber had taken its toll. Her muscles were tense as she sat up, and her vision was blurry as her eyes scanned the cave. There was a slight movement behind her, her eyes quickly darted to that area. Her snakes were just awakening as well. With a relived sigh she reached for them. It appeared as if they were just fine. With shaky breaths and slow movements she attempted to stand. Failing the first time and falling back onto her snakes, who conveniently moved to catch her. She tried again, this time finding her footing. She wobbled a bit, but her snakes helped her by nudging her in the back. Her eyes shot up, gleaming all the way to the outside of the cave.

((There is an updates page, just read the last 2 pages of in-character stuff and that and you should be fine. Elena has just started using her power, the group is traveling through a giant forest right now, headed to castle Branbern.))

Ward stopped in his tracks amazed. He looked from Elena, to the book to the peach. "Incedible! Elena that was fantastic!" He shifted forward to sniff the sweet scent of the peach when Nyr began to moan in her sleep. He had no time to react before she launched herself off his back. Ward stumbled forward and face-planted into the fruit. With a bit of effort he worked himself free to stare worriedly at Nyr, peach juice dripping from the tip of his beak.

"Are you all right?" he asked, squinting through the juice in his eyes. He shook his head vigorously and licked the side of his cheek. "Mmm, I love peach."

OOC: Thank you very much ^^

Medusa took a couple steps forwards util she finally made it outside. Her bare feet touched the darkened moss that grew all along the swamp-like terrain. She took a deep breath, the ShadowWoods were the same as they always were. A pitch-black raven caw pierced the silence of the foggy air. The roots of the trees moved to crush pesky bugs that were eating at their bark. A smile fell on Medusa's face, presenting her venomous fangs. She was finally awake. Her snakes bobbed their heads and one in particular moved to look at her. This one was the biggest, and happened to be the smartest as well. She reached out her hand to pet its dark scaly head. Now the only thing she needed to do was find the human, or humans. Once they are eliminated and she is able to consume their flesh, all her powers will finally return to her. Right now she was in a very weak state, her magic almost completely deceased. Her cat-like eyes scanned the mist of the forest as she began to walk.

Mira had gone to the garden, just to peacefully read, but instead, she had ended up in a forest. It was beautifully strange, but she found it unnerving. She pushed up her glasses with two fingers and started wandering, assuming that she could find civilisation and other people.

Her boots dug into the forest floor, making muffled thumps as she walked. She started singing softly to herself, just a small thing she had written. She didn't particularly like the size of the trees, or anything. She pressed forward, despite the hairs standing up on the back of her neck.

Nyr got up from the ground, dusting off her clothes and looked at the others. They did not seem to notice anything since they were walking in a slow and steady pace towards their unknown destination which made her let out a sigh of relief. She made them worry far too many times already, she was glad that this time she did not cause trouble.

Despite having a terrible nightmare she felt that her power - at least some of it - returned to her and now was able to walk on her own again. She sneaked to the end of the line and headed onward like the others did. She tried to cast a minor spell but it fizzled right away: the suppressing rays of the sun and her weakness still prove too much to overcome so for now she decided to silently follow the crowd.

She had finally seen people and other creatures, after trudging through the maze of trees. She was wary of them, so she followed close behind, trying to make sure she didn't alert them to her presence. She failed at this when she stepped on a fallen branch, or something that made a large snapping sound.

Nyr - already on the edge because of her nightmares - turned around instantly in a fighting position. She did not know what kind of resistance would she prove but she would not go down without a fight. But what she saw warmed her heart instead of filling it with fear: an another - a third - human was standing in front of her and she looked to be more startled from her than she was.

" I greet you. " Nyr said still a bit unfamiliar with normal human tones and she bowed before her respectfully " My name is Nyr, a pleasure to meet you, my lady. What may I be of service? "

Her eyes widened and she exhaled sharply, mumbling about never eating too many sweets before bed again. The woman in front of her, was very respectful. She smiled politely, but she still probably looked absolutely terrified. "M-My name is Mira, do you mind explaining where I am?" Her voice was shaky, as she asked.

Smiling at her Nyr now stepped closer to Mira.

" You are not the first human to arrive here, Lady Mira. " she said while she motioned them to slowly move forward. " Come, let us follow the others. "

With that she slowly started walking again, pointing at different places of the gigantic forest.

" This is FableWood, it is a part of the world you most likely know as the ' World of Myths'. Many mystical creature dwell within this beautiful land: benevolent... " she pointed at the others " ... and evil alike. " Seeing her frightened expression she smiled once more.

" Worry not, we are here to protect you. That is our duty: to defend the saviors of this realm. "

"The saviors?" She walked along side Nyr, not as calmly as she would of liked though. She raised an eyebrow and pushed her glasses up, yet again. "You mean, humans." She found it strange to describe who she was by that word, but she was foreign in their world, she would have to use that word. Her hands tugged at the edge of her sweater, and she considered what she had said. "Fable...Woods. World of Myths?" She questioned lightly, not wanting to insult the woman.

" I assume you are familiar with legends: fire breathing dragons, majestic gryphons, fearsome dread ravens, blessed phoenixes... Well this land is the home of them. It is our home. "

She then made her two wings sprout out from her back once more, even though the left one was still broken and hurt a bit. She the flapped with them to indicate that they were real and some kind of illusions.

" Our realm is being consumed by an unknown force of shadow. " she continued to explain " We have already had a taxing battle before but I fear it was just the beginning. It is said that only humans may banish the evil from this land forever - humans like you, my Lady. "

"Your wings..." She gave a real smile this time and chuckled. "I'm important, for once in my life. But, saving a land, as beautiful and as unique as this, with amazing creatures like yourselves, that is beyond me." She rubbed her forehead while she smiled. "I don't see how I could help."

Elena gave a gracious nod and a ssmile smile to Ward. She wasnt used to the kind words she suddenly began recieving when she entered this land. She was used to ignoring or equally false smiles to her owk. These people, or creatures, were more genuine and it was frightening sometimes.

"Thanks."

When she caught sight of Nyr, she bit her lip and reached her hand out to comfort but the girl was out of reach before she could touch. Another human appeared as well. The Raven struck up a conversation so being a bitter sort of person, Elena sighed and tucked her head back down and into her formerly blank book, adding this new character as a protagonist. Maybe Elena could slip away at some point now that they have what they need.. and after what happened she hasnt spoken to another normal person.even avoiding the other girl. They seemed kind, though.

" We all have our part to play. Some are destined to greater things than others though. " Nyr said to Mira as they finally caught up with the small group. " Sometimes I envy you. My destiny was written long before I was born: I have my powers, I have my magic but you - you are pure, unblemished. You humans have your own destiny to forge, your own path to walk on. That is the greatest gift one could ever receive. "

She noticed that Elena was drawing again in her book. She expected her to come and greet the newcomer but some reason she did not. Then she remembered what Elena told her last night and started to understand. Her life was no easier than hers - but one thing that she had learnt so far was the a group of caring people can cure the sickest soul as well so she waved at her as they approached.

" Elena, may I introduce you Mira? " she asked with a sly smile on her face trying to avoid all formalities as they formally agreed on that. Even if she was unable to make friends easily the two humans might be able to - well, hopefully. " She has arrived just recently, so I figured the two of you might be able to get along just fine since both of you are the same species. "
