Futuristic Rain Soaked Streets

Tarick lied awake in bed, staring up at his off-white ceiling. His gaze met a a crack forming, the plaster separating into a dark void. Sleep was always such an aethemer to him. Ice cream. That's what he needed. Tarick forced his limbs to push his body up off the bed, the sheets rolled off him. With a heavy breathe, Tarick threw his legs over the edge of the bed onto the cheap, abrasive carpet below. "3:14" cut through the dark in deep, red LEDs while the sound of rain patted lightly against the window. He moved across the room, reaching into an old dresser to find and slip into his jeans and a dark shirt. After stepping into a pair of boots, Tarick moved across his tiny apartment, throwing his heavy longcoat over his shoulders and picking up his keys off the kitchen counter.

He moved out into the dark hallway of the complex, the wood paneling creaking below each footstep. He pulled a crumpled cigarette pack from an inner coat pocket. Idly packing it as he descended the stairs, he ducked below a low hanging edge. Once out on the street, he pulled up his collar to help cover as he lit his cigarette. The red bloom let loose the tendrils of flowing smoke into his lungs, his boots clapping in shallow pools of rain water. He looked around at the advertisement overlays being transmitted into his eye-overlay. The dancing figures of cartoon animals and scantly clad women played between passing cars in the sky.

Looking through the tall windows of the convenience store, Tarick took a deep drag, standing on the sidewalk.

A tall silhouette of a man darts right by tarick, bumping into his shoulder. The man is wearing a black hoodie. The man turns around to get a glimpse of the person he just bumped into. Reveling his face to tarick for a split-second. He then turns back around and continues running. Suddenly 3 police officers pass tarick, walking fast. They get closer and closer to him until he runs into an ally. They stop at the entrance of the ally. One officer scratches his head and the other two stand motionless. "Not again..." One of them whisper under their breath.

Tarick turned to see who collided with him. Catching a quick glance, his attention is pulled by the officers. As they moved into the alley, Tarick slipped into the convenience store, the hard florescent beating down on him. The store owner, a portly older man sat watching a small television behind the counter. Tarick reached a hand into his sleeve, shortly after the television on the counter begins to flicker and cut-out. The clerk stands up and begins slapping the television and yelling. Using this distraction, Tarick walked into the back room of the store, boxes stacked to ceiling.

After a few moments of searching, Tarick found a door that lead to the ally. He blinks, forcing his vision into a monochromatic x-ray view. Spotting the four figures in the ally, right outside the door, he reached into his jacket and pulls out a pistol, holding it firmly in both hands.

Night.

That one time of the day when the villainous and mechanical reaches of work life can't reach me.

Indeed, this was a truism, for Sergej Sergejevich Fetyukov hated his job. It was quite possibly the worst job he had had, out of the 3 that he had taken up in his life. The 33 year old Russian sat hunched over the white desk in his otherwise bare bedroom, staring listlessly out of the window as droplets of rain struck the windows, barred on the inside so as to keep burglars out (living on the 2nd floor of the apartment building, this was a possibility). A portable radio sat placidly on the bed, blasting out Bruckner's 7th Symphony, magnificent despite the grainy sound quality.

Sergej had barely finished his dinner (canned sauerkraut and stir fried potato cubes) when the doorbell rang. A postman had shown up at his doorstep, clutching a box. His shipment of novels had arrived. Thanking the postman, Sergej took the box and shut the door gingerly, unwrapping it.

Dammit, one of the books is missing. I'll just have to find it at the bookshop another day.

With that, Sergej dumped the 4 remaining books on the bed, before changing into a pair of pyjamas and jumping on. Too tired to begin reading, the tired man slowly drifted off into a deep sleep.

After slipping into the dark ally azul had teleported to top of a near by building. "I'm safe..." He wipes his forehead. "For now,I better get outta here. Cops are going to be swarming this place in seconds." He says to himself before teleporting from rooftop to rooftop to get to his destination

Tarick's HUD stuttered and contorted. The return of his vision revealed the man had disappeared. His auto-senses brought up the measurements of the nearby atmosphere, the results concluded the remnants of a teleport flare. The police scan module popped up, warning of multiple units being dispatched. He hadn't done anything they'd even consider against the law today, but innocence had never stopped the Chicago PD from beating anyone. His system attempted to calculate a safe egress, but he didn't need it. Pushing aside a stack of boxes, Tarick quickly ascended the metal ladder to an iron roof hatch. With a strained grunt, he was able to turn the latch to an open position with a creak.

Pushing the hatch up, Tarick was able to clamber out of the small exit onto the roof, just managing to catch a glimpse of a familiar form. His HUD read a 73% certainty that this was the guy he saw earlier that brought the cops downtown. He wasn't sure who this guy was, but if he was a big enough deal to bring the blues downtown, he was someone that needed stopping before this place was crawling. After kicking the hatch shut, Tarick pulled up his sleeve and started typing commands into his subdermal keypad. Using a wireless ping, he was able to grab the target's teleporter signature and lock it into his GPS. Pulling up a map of the city, the target showed up as a red dot, moving effortlessly across building after building.

Tarick moved almost carelessly over to the edge of the building, his communicator popping up over his HUD. He waited, hoping his contact wasn't completely passed out yet.

Azul was about half way there, then he looked back to see if the cops had caught up yet. All he could see is a blurred red and blue flashing lights in the distance. He turns back around and continues toward the hideout.

Bliss stood on the roof of a small apartment complex. Her deep red hair was hanging around her shoulders as if she no longer cared about it. The girl watched the flashing police lights on the other side of the street, hands on her hips as she stood. The way she stood, the way her eyes inspected the world almost showed everything she had been through since moving to Chicago. Bliss then turned around and crouched down, hearing heavy footsteps, soon finding the source- a man, running. He completely passed her by and she frowned a bit, confused on what he was trying to accomplish. She slowly stood once more and tugged on her bandana slightly before tying it tighter to secure her hair out of her face for the time being. The young woman decided to follow the running man for a bit, see where he was going and what he was trying to do.

Azul turns around again to check if the cops had figured out he escaped to the roof. He is surprised to see a silhouette of a person. He is unable to figure out who is is with only a small douse of moonlight spread out on the persons face. He turns around and starts running faster. "I don't know who you are, but who ever you are, stop. It's about to get dangerous." He yells out.

[sorry, got busy]

Bliss glanced behind her at the person who spoke, her red hair covering move of her face except for one of her emerald green eyes. She inspected the man and then turned back around, watching the skyline before freezing on the edge of the roof. She rocked back and forth in the wind, but clearly wouldn't fall unless she wanted to. "Stop me." Bliss muttered, jumping across a small alley and following the guy with the GPS once more.

Azul continues "man, this girl just won't stop..." he mutters under his breath."but she won't be able to clear this" he comes to a edge of the roof, With a cross section 4 stories below. he walks to the edge, waits for to catch up then he turns around and puts out his hands in front of him.

Bliss kept running the skidded to a stop in front of Azul. She was breathing heavily, a sign that she had been running for quite awhile. The girl glared at him from under her red hair and crossed her arms. I'm losing him- God move please Bliss thought, watching the other man disappear behind several buildings. She focused on Azul and inspected him, trying to intimidate him although she was very small

"Listen, I don't know who you are, who you work for, or why your following me, but stop! Your going to get your self killed. See those cops." He points toward the lights and sirens in the distance. "They want this," he holds up a small purple orb."and they will stop at nothing to get it back. If the find you with me, your going to get locked up too. Now, I'm telling you, stop following me!" He stares at her and inches closer to the edge of the building, waiting for a response.

Bliss crossed her arms and tilted her head to the side, inspecting the purple orb. She raised an eyebrow and thought, That could go for a ton on the market- she smiled a bit and lunged for the man. She grabbed the orb and then the edge of the roof, shattering a window and rolling into a room. Bliss stood and smiled, holding the orb then putting it into her bag and running off and deeper in the building.

Azul stood up in shock "that girl doesn't know what she just got her self into." He says before teleporting into the building leaving a trail of purple particles."stop!" He yells out from the end of the hallway.

Bliss yelped and tumbled into him accidentally, sending them both into the floor. She pushed him away from her and scrambled to her feet, tripping a bit before running again down the hall. This has got to be worth a lot of he's still chasing it. She thought, smiling to herself and still running. She kicked out a window and began to climb down the fire escape.

Bliss looked up to see the guy leaning out the window with a pistol. She gasped lightly and bit her lip, freezing on the fire escape ladder. Don't kill me, please. I'm just trying to make w living- She thought, slowly climbing down a few more rungs. Bliss dropped her head and jumped down a couple feet and to the ground, looking up at the guy still in the building.

Azul teleports to the bottom of the ladder and points the pistol up at her. "Give me the orb and no one gets hurt." He says.

Bliss grabbed the strap of her back pack and looked around her for any way out of the situation. She then focused on Azul and bit her lip, taking a deep breath. "I need it." She said simply, grabbed his shirt and pulling him behind a dumpster with her while a police unit drove by.

Bliss used her arm to pin him to the wall as she glanced out from behind the dumpster. "Because- I could sell it and get a lot of money. That's what I need." She said softly, taking her arm away and leaning against the wall.

"Money?" He tilts his head."That's why you need it!?" He puts a hand on his head. "God,you are more retarded then I thought."

Bliss swung her fist right at his face, making contact with his lower jaw and rattling his teeth. She slowly stood and glared down at him. "I could yell. Bring the cops over here. They would arrest you and let me go no problem." Bliss said, kicking his stomach hard.
