    A
    civil war has shaken southern Thedas to its core. Oppressed members of the Circle of Magi have rebelled against the Templars in a declaration for independence, threatening the stability of Orlais. In an effort for peace Divine Justinia V has orchestrated a Divine Conclave, a summit between the ambassadors of the rebel Mages and Templars to negotiate a compromise.

    An explosion kills all those attending the Conclave and a massive tear in the Veil is created, later known as the Breach. As demons invade Thedas a lone survivor is apprehended for questioning, bearing a magical mark on their palm coined the Anchor, accused of arranging the attack against the Conclave. The survivor is taken to a Rift and uses the Anchor to seal it, causing many to believe that they are a messiah.

    The survivor is labelled as the Herald of Andraste, a miracle sent to Thedas to seal the Breach and find whomever opened it. An Inquisition is born, sanctioned by the late Divine to restore order to Orlais and Ferelden. They take their place in Haven, a small village in the Frostback Mountains, and prepare for the strenuous journey ahead of them.

I have a few ideas

First a necromancer maybe an abomination after an accident with a sealed demon.

Second a knight enchanter a tranquil cured by pure luck during one of the circles collapsing

Last well I just had those but yeah or if that tiventer mage can be a blood mage

Seems like at least three people might be after the apostate role. Though blood magic could be interesting to see... Assuming the character can either hide it at first or get accepted into the Inquisition for the greater good in spite of it - or something.

Thinking of making a Grey Warden who had to become one because they contracted the Taint. Similar to if you took Bethany or Carver with you into the Deep Roads. I like the necessity for survival aspect, as it can create a disgruntled Warden or even a resentful one.

Yes, I figured. I was referring to your other two ideas, since those seem to be made for the apostate role. Or I guess one of them could technically work for the first enchanter as well...

They could be either really only the tranquil is only apostate. The necromancer could be though they are also a relgious class in nevvara
 
I received a question about skills / spells / specializations, so I wanted to post my response for reference!

"As for skills, there will be a general section to include them. However, there will be no technical side to the roleplay for skills/spells/leveling. While the mechanic works well in game, I don't think it will suit this particular roleplay. Any progression in combat skill, magical skill, etc. can be done naturally through the story as opportunities arise for their characters to learn or adapt.

This means there won't be tracking. Someone can learn a new skill through the story but completing a quest or a plot line won't be what gets them there. If a character is actively written as studying something in their downtime, or training between missions, etc. then I am 100% okay with someone giving their character that skill in a couple of scenes. That said, I don't have the time to manage skills along with everything else else I am currently working, attending school, and participating in other roleplays. It's just not realistic for me atm.

Additionally, from a story perspective- everyone should be at different levels and skills. This won't be a Lvl 1 start like we see in the game or a campaign. Someone who is 45 with a vast amount of combat experience is not going to have the same progression as someone who is 22 with only a handful of years under their belt. A trained Circle mage would also have a number of the basic skills that are restricted by skill points in-game, as they have been practicing magic for a great deal of their life. While their specialization is a whole other thing, generally speaking a practiced mage should also have a strong grasp on the basic magic spells we see in the game (fire/ice/electricity) and so on.

As for specializations, they are included in the CS but this is more to understand the character's style of combat than to manage the skill tree that accompanies these specializations in the game. Any specialization from the three games is fine within reason."

Tried to edit it a bit to be more cohesive BUT that's the general idea. No tracking on spells / skill trees. There will be no one-shots in combat, everything is a bit of a back and forth. That said, very minor enemies don't need a vast amount of detail when writing. I won't need very specific spells referenced. If you want to just cast some fire at 'em, go for it. Just be realistic with your character's strengths, weaknesses, and limitations based off of their age, build, and experience. I will provide Discord channels to help y'all keep track of things so you're welcome to give a run-down of in-game skills they would know, but I won't be managing it. I highly encourage anyone who would like their character to learn something new to incorporate it into their writing or even reach out to one another for plots that involve characters teaching one another.

Let me know if y'all have any questions!

Oh, another question; when more or less do you think you will be ready to start receiving general concepts for characters? Since you said those will come first, before actual sheets.
 
cwosont cwosont one question about skills do you allow for wider interpretation of the skills. Like necromancer that has more raising the dead as they are slain over the buff de buff living bomb stuff
 
Yes, bringing spirits back to "life" is one of the skills of a Necromancer so I don't see why they couldn't use the spirits of slain enemies in the area. Just be sure to include limitations. A handful of spirits is fine, but in the larger battles we'll encounter they shouldn't be raising entire armies.

I really hope there's a trailer I am in NEED and I swear if I hear more Mass Effect news before Dreadwolf I'll be ready to fight πŸ˜‚ I know Andromeda wasn't what the fans wanted but it's been so long since Inquisition now I need it
 
Okay yeah was thinking more traditional style myself for a necromancer. Well when you open roles let me know I have the necromancer first enchanter idea mostly down. Might be a bit cursed but yeah fun.
