Magnhild of Thirsk

“Good answer.” Her gaze flickered up through full lashes, wariness waning further still in the face of kindly conversation; the partner of which had such clarity in his answers, she’d not pained herself to act uncordial. Rather, perhaps the attention elicited a wish to know more from a stranger on a night where the air was heavy with cloves and spice, and the tune of distant strings became heavenly in favourable company, “About the music, that is. You can’t blame me for testing the limits to a nobleman's interests—they’re either madmen or find a new hobby every few months,” Magnhild paused, a small lull where she held her breath for no particular reason, “I suppose you must be mad.”

The battle maiden’s mouth twisted into a positively riotous grin, crooked where the scar split thin albeit shapely lips, “I should hope I find plenty of things, secret things and sweet things and perhaps, song things.” A laugh followed, brash and unladylike where it wavered and made her belly ache. No tittering allure, but of something weathered—worn until comfortable, where it sat at the back of her throat in wait for joy, melting off the disdain on the topic of fathers.

Nevertheless, the stranger did away with his mystery, all but failing to remove his mask. He gave her a name.

“Mateo,” It rolled clumsily off Magnhild’s tongue with the abrasive Ajnan accent sharpening all rounded sounds, “Wanderers need gold to buy passage on a ship, you must know this.” Her fingertip lightly tapped against his sternum, “Mercenary work pays, so I come to this party to follow my patrons—and my patrons dismiss me, so I, being a wanderer, have to linger until I see them home safe.” A sharp exhale preceded her next words, “That’s how. And every time the clock strikes, I lose no glass slipper—instead I think I must be turning into a pumpkin."

Distant hubbub tore Mag’s attention in the direction of the shards, squinting across the ballroom and over the crowding heads, “Speaking of patrons, I’d be glad to release you from your contracted game. You played it well,” Within the first few steps she made ahead, a glance stole across her shoulder back to Mateo, “Where there's shock, trouble isn’t far behind—unless you’d care to see it with me?”

I’d be a very pleasant man to hold your acquaintance longer, Mateo said, letting a sharp laugh fall from his lips. The intrigue in his eyes hidden still beneath the mask was more than apparent. Though, clearly the slow rising sounds of alarm managed to get under his skin. Though, something seems wrong.

He strode forward, hand boldly clasping Mag’s wrist, and led the way.

Toward the disarray of worried partygoers, two girls collapsed amidst the fray. Magnhild not accustomed to being led forth, fleetingly darkening her expression to believe herself in need of guidance—and yet the soft palm of stabilising warmth provided an overwhelming sense of calm. They passed the fragments, Mag’s mind caught in a spin as they encroached nearer the display, as if what they walked upon was hallowed ground and she were seconds from catching flame. The maiden’s head felt as if stuffed with cotton, breathless as her chest struggled to catch up with her panic.

She tugged away from Mateo, until the gleam of sapphire enraptured her—clear as the old glaciers which formed the fjords and had once worn down mountains, endlessly caught in a pryzm of changing blue. Blood rushed to her ears, thundering with a pulse that seemed to altogether cease as Magnhild’s remaining iris rolled upward.

Magnhild stood atop the grey slate cliffs of home, far removed from the warmth and celebration of that distant masquerade. A splinter of stone caught her toe, skipping against the gravelled ledge until it fell free; rounding and cascading until it hit the tumultuous waters below. Swallowed whole without so much as a splash. A sharp wind tugged at her tunic, driving closer toward its steep drop until a pale hand reached out to clasp Mag’s shoulders. Navy locks whipped and twisted over themselves, accustomed to the bitter cold before lips parted to speak.

No louder than a whisper, nearly lost to the noise of the growing tempest, “I have long dwelled on futures long since past, and pasts which have become long-suffering presents. Of tomorrows occurring yesterday, and years happening in fortnights.” Her skin was icy, the touch bleeding it’s frigid temperature until Magnhild felt as if her heart had become the early morning frost; a frozen pond to be shattered with a child’s wayward pebble, “Take up arms, girl of no blood, no house nor lord, take up arms and see, past where your tired feet tread. There—the sunrise as it falls in another time, another place, there where men kill, see now the distances you may not cross and faces from afar closer. The stars and their flaring, how warm they ought to make you feel.”

The woman fell to lingering silence, her lull occupied by Magnhild's remark: “Why?”

“Why is said by all who come to live through the passing of such times. Let it be known that fate hath its plans, and love hath its delights, to weather the storms of midwinter nights. Be safe, my lark. Be sturdy. You will find, the way down is most terrifying for it’s progress to climb—”

A sharp push against the small of her back sent Magnhild careening over the cliff, down and down again until she swore to hit the water—-warm light and sound flooded back with nauseous consequence, teetering forward until her vision tunnelled completely, collapsing hard into the varnished floors whilst her arm remained raised in Mateo’s grasp; yanking against his sturdy frame.

Ihsan al-Din Sayyed

To have Mercedes wink as confirmation in support of his latest charade, Ihsan proved grateful for the added cover going into his sales pitch. Although as Basurto toyed with her tone to insinuate the truth of his changing identity, the smooth-talking debonair made an effort to patch relations—”Oh, eazizi,” The Amir tutted, “I am good friends, very good friends, with any man or woman who understands exactly what material wealth can buy them,” His gaze flicked back toward Flaithrí, mask proffering an uncanny stillness for how animated his eyes had since become. As if a haunted portrait—for he had plenty of sin to account not reaching paradise.

“Horses I do say, Ser.” Yet to be corrected on whether Emira was mistress or not had Ihsan wave his hand dismissively, “Who says a mistress cannot be both!” He laughed, “No, no but forgive me—and you, forgive me moreso for my comment,” He bowed forward toward the golden clad nomad until he captured her hand; once more touching it to the cold metal lips of the mask, “For if the devil were ever to lay his eyes on you, he would make amends with heaven.” Though Ihsan noted her calluses; unlike any noblewoman he'd had the pleasure of encountering, where the tattoos danced up lone knuckles and spiralled tendons; the hardly exposed markings of her face and opposite albeit bandaged palm.

From knowledge of the land and it's broad spectrum of culture, he would've named her one of the desert nomads. A peoples he and his own men were right to respect for fear of angering those who walked the dunes ever-changing trade routes without map nor compass.

As Faith coughed, the Sayyed prince snapped to attention. Gold and the promise of something more, an enticing opportunity of long-term investment, punctuated with nearly-physical levels of restrained anticipation as the Sasuren reached for his purse, “Reasonable?” Ihsan's concealed smile grew, energised by the bait of negotiation, “Let us say fifteen thousand pieces. Thirty thousand and I ought to not only divulge all his training and pedigree, but offer one of our finest battle mares in return. Surefooted by desert track and easy tempered,”

Whilst his offer lay bare for picking, the notably shy Prince had a tongue of equal silver when it came to his compliments, even as he admitted his foil to be royalty. Ihsan was personally of the belief that being Amir took plenty of fun out of haggling and placing his bets on games of guard’s dice. What should’ve been an easy way of garnering funds and support for his most recent excursion into racing, proved soon interrupted by the loud, especially grating, voice of a woman claiming Emira’s frock to be none other than her own.

This was undoubtedly true, he could recognise a good fraud as much as his own reflection. All in the worldly touch of scarring labour. It took a split-second in his mind to defend a fellow actor whose script for that night had since been turned on it's very head, kinship in lies and lies alone.

Thus, as Flaithrí took to his methods of intimidation, Ihsan hooked Emira by the arm, "Foiled but not yet undone, habibi," He encouraged, gesturing to the gathering crowd near the shards without knowledge of fainting women and their supposedly weak constitutions—"Quickly now, or I shall tell everyone from here to the peaks of Ajna that you're my newly betrothed and I've a habit of dressing you up to look like every Lord's wife in the vicinity of Isladam," The Amir could already sense his father growing redder by the second if ever such games were relayed back to him. Beckoning for Mercedes with the short-lived attempt to capture Faith's attention, he resolved to throw himself toward safety with Emira in tow.

Yanking half the rings from his well-weighted hands, he scattered them toward the Muladi stranger and Faith, rubies and precious stones clattering across the mosaics, "Payment in full! Speak to Badr al-Din for further compensation! I've a race to catch!"

Mention: Mateo

A lot of things seem to go down at once, at least in Belinha's opinion. The Sasuren man asked where her family's store was in Histadel. She would have given him an answer immediately, but he introduced himself and mentioned he was a prince of Sasuren! Now, while Belinha knew the royals were here, she never expected to meet any. She hadn't even met any royal of Histadel yet. She heard of one of the princes were visiting villages throughout Histadel, but she only caught of a glimpse of Prince Mateo at a distance when he came to their village once several years ago.

Prince Faithri asking to be treated normally was a little off-putting for Belinha, but she nodded and reply, "I shall try, your highness."

Then the Muladi woman addressed her about her comment about her attire. Sudden another person showed up claiming the woman stole her attire. Not knowing what to do, Belinha was relieved with Faithri and her companion took over the situation. Seeing 'Ibrahim' grab the Muladi woman and throw 'payment' towards the stranger. She saw him glance at her as they got away. Without thinking, she also grabbed the prince and followed the pair.

"I sure hope that one woman does follow us. I am sure you're not use to seeing this kind of activity in Sasuren, Prince Faithri," she laughed at the prince as they made their way towards the commotion involving passed out women.

It was then she remembered she never seen the fragments. So maybe she could shoot two birds with one stone, she could see the fragments and check out the incident about fainting women. Wanting to see the Carnelian, she inadvertently let go of Faithri. As she approached closer, she saw people standing and looking at something else. Looking down she saw a short blonde hair woman (Stella).

"Oh my! I wondered what could have happened to her?" she said, all the while feeling something towards her.

"I saw her approach the Citrine fragment and she seemed to go into a trance and then dropped," a stranger commented.

"Really? I heard the fragments held tremendous power, but I never of them causing anyone to faint."

She looked at the Citrine fragment and didn't really feel anything from it. Pondering things, she ended up wandering closer to the Carnelian. When her eyes landed on the orange fragment, they widen as she found herself in a vision like the other women. She was walking along a jungle floor, which unnerved her, but for some reason she felt safe. Coming to an open area, she saw a figure walking around it. It was a young lady with red hair. She came upon a dead tree, and upon touching its bark, the tree started to grow at a fast rate and blossom. The woman turned to Belinha with a maternal look. Belinha saw she had pale orange eyes.

"Life is an ever-changing circle. Things do perish, but will you have the power to defy this destiny? Will you grow and create your own fate? Find it and see." The woman said before she disappeared along with her surroundings.

Everything was very fuzzy when Belinha snapped out of it and just like the others, she collapsed to the ground.

Noirin eventually opened her eyes. What just happened? Last thing she recalled, she saw the Amethyst fragment and that's when things went dark. No, not completely. She saw a woman. And she had been reading something. What did she look like? Oh, she had lavender hair and violet eyes similar to hers, only they looked like they had seen much more than her. Suddenly it dawned on her that she was on the ground. Still feeling a bit light-headed, she slowly sat up and looked around, only to see a brunette right next to her. What just happened here? She also saw a lot of people looking at them and immediately she felt her whole face turn red. Checking, she saw her mask was still on her face. Still it was mortifying to see so many people looking at her.

Turning to the brunette, she checked to see if she was okay. Reading as much as she did, she did have some basic healing knowledge. She saw the young woman was breathing, so that was a relief. Did she faint too? She checked the back of her head and didn't feel any bumps, another good sign.

"I wonder if I can wake her up?" she said casually.

Her eyes drifted upward towards the Amethyst fragment and she felt that instant connection to it once more.

Diplomacy was a joke, at least to Emira. For all that she could vaguely appreciate Faith for attempting to smooth things over, her annoyance toward the woman had already coated her mouth in an ugly taste. Twisting herself free of the woman’s grab, she watched with narrowed eyes between the rest of the little group there. The offended woman seemed bristled by the offer of money, but eased once her own rage settled, realising this was an offer of money.

Then there it was that thumb again, from Faith. Clearly it meant something, but Emira still wasn’t sure, so she returned the gesture all the while still clearly bewildered.

The man in the full mask, his stony expression unwavering, who had delivered such a gentle kiss onto her rough hands that had unsettled her into a state of apprehension she’d not known before, seemed more than aware of schemes at play. While Emira would play innocent as long as needed, despite her rather brash response to the lady at first, his heated threat into her ear once he’d wrapped around her arm made her turn a fiery shade once more.

Being thoroughly made speechless, all she could do was huff loudly in the Muladi man’s direction, willing her legs to move any faster to keep up with his pace.

His final call back, her noting that the woman he’d brought with him was now attempting to bring Faith along as the offended noblewoman gasped at the dropping of such expensive rings on the ground, did manage to make Emira laugh a little. The driest, quietest of laughs; she wasn’t sure that she wanted to give him the satisfaction of an amusing performance.

Pressing through the growing crowd, seeming to begin to gather attention toward where the gems were in their cases, Emira felt uncomfortably close to the Muladi man. He smelled warmly and strongly, soothing scents that were not unfamiliar yet refined in such a way that felt as foreign as the dress she wore. As they moved along she fought to look up at him, far too curious at what face was hidden behind the opaque mask, and the beads of sweat she could see beneath the nape of his neck. Pressed shoulder to shoulder, she fought to strain her neck and peer around the conglomerate bustling with attention.

Where did the others go?” Emira suddenly asked, looking around once more. “What are all these stupid people crowding around for? The gems surely are not suddenly springing to life, are they?

She sought the whispers, hoping rumour would enlighten the situation. Some spoke of girls passing out, others spoke of some power from the gems causing mass hysteria. There was no concise answer, so she proceeded to yank the Muladi man with her.

Hurry, I wish to see the foolishness of powdered skin women and their obsession with shiny things.” Her grin was hidden behind her mask, still, but the rise to her eyebrows was more than evident.

Though, once they managed to wiggle through the crowd, she caught sight of the collapsed women, noticing at once the friendly girl from before. One of the girls was seeming to stir, though Emira all at once felt the lightheadedness spin her once more, when she looked directly at them. Her gaze flickered, seeking some cause of the problem, falling upon the gems to see if they were the source, somehow. They were brilliant in colour and shine, though once she locked eyes with the Jasper stone, every muscle in her body tightened. Out of body and lacking awareness in her extremities, she had no control over the way that she was grabbing the Muladi man so tightly now.

A tunnelling set in, swathing the busy room in a cloak of black as the sounds droned out of existence.

--

The vacuous darkness soon gave in, a brilliant light filling the space. It was warm, a familiar heat that Emira knew well: the dry, whipping winds of Mulada. Perhaps she had not traveled far, despite her sense of present and past blurring together. The last she remembered was seeing all the gems…

Within this light stood a woman with powdered white skin and radiant red hair and dress, a hue that Emira had seen only within the deepest roar of a fire. The woman was combating; her smooth polearm twirling in her hands as if it was an extension of her limbs. She moved with such proficiency and ease it was almost a blur within the swirling sands. Her feet were planted firm, despite the shifting ground beneath her.

The scene was isolated and strange, and for a moment Emira did not want to move forward at all. She longed for an escape, even if it was to the cursed party, but found her legs willing herself to move. A force stronger than her own willpower took over. Lifting a hand to her face, Emira proceeded forward. The closer she got the less she felt around her. It was as if a veil had dropped upon them, or she’d passed through some hidden curtain.

Coming upon the woman in red who suddenly stopped her twirling, standing straight now. From where Emira was, a mere foot away, she could see the muscle winding around the woman’s arms, how strong her legs were. The ease in which she moved seemed supernatural, her gaze flickering toward Emira’s.

Who are you?” Emira said loudly, narrowing her eyes. The woman’s face quivered into a smile.

“Being the best, strongest fighter is one thing. Being strong enough to support those around you… Is another thing entirely.” The woman’s eyebrow raised, seeming to entice Emira to respond.

Is prowess in combat not a safeguard?” Emira’s words seemed to fall from her lips without much effort, the thoughts spilling like sand from her mind. Her insecurities felt welcomed here, for the strangest reason.

The woman snorted lightly, stepping forward to hand the polearm to Emira. “It’s a benefit, surely. But what of the battles of one’s heart? Of one’s mind? What if your loved ones call for you; for you to be more than some sword and shield?”

Emira pursed her lips, eyeing the weapon with suspicion. When she went to grab it, the weight of the thing overtook her. With bulging eyes Emira collapsed with the polearm in her grasp, finding herself trapped beneath it. It was no simple weapon. Sneering up at the woman, she saw the swirling sands begin to grow once more.

“Only let your anger guide you. Never let it get the better of you. Trust me, I’ve learned as much.”

The cryptic message did not fall upon deaf ears, though Emira was victim to the winds as they grew, and grew, overcoming her sight as the weight in her hands soon blossomed to her whole body, becoming rocks to sink her to the bottom of the ocean of sands.

--

And, in turn, no different than the other girls that she would sooner mock for their nerves, Emira’s legs gave in and she slumped onto her partner, sliding into a brief unconsciousness.

Three little birds

"this is a dialogue,"

Flaithrí thought hard about the proposal. Flaithrí wasn't sure if he was being offered a good deal or if he was being scammed when he was offered thirty thousand pieces for a battle mare and the information about its training and pedigree. He wished his father had sent someone with him at this point more than ever. However, in his opinion, knowledge was priceless and couldn't be bought or sold and should be gathered no matter the cost.

Flaithrí never got a chance to respond; events began to unfold too quickly, and he moved on to trying to bribe the noblewoman.

This next sequence of events transpired in lightning speed. Ibrahim took charge in another way despite Flaithrí's ongoing negotiations, which to him seemed to be going successfully. The man decided to throw jewellery at the women in an apparent effort to pay for the dress and divert the woman's attention. It wasn't Flaithrí's first thought to de-escalate the situation in this way, but he recognised its efficacy and decided to learn from it.

As soon as he felt the other person's skin against his own, his mind completely blanked out for the second time. The young prince's mind seemed to be thrown into disarray whenever anyone touched him. Flaithrí's body seemed to be making its own movements as it tried to keep up with Ms. Basurto. As Ms.Basurto's words entered his ears, he was immediately transported back to the realm of thought, where he discovered he was relocating at a pace that was unsettling for the prince's out-of-shape body. Flaithrí was amused by Ms. Basurto's remark.

"You're right, it's not like I regularly throw jewellery at people and then run away. However, I will be adding this to my arsenal of escape techniques."
As he spoke, he stifled a chuckle that threatened to overwhelm the words.

Ms.Basurto eventually freed Flaithrí, and his body gradually resumed its normal state of relaxation as the panic subsided. Flaithrí, relieved to have a moment to himself, closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Flaithrí decided to ignore the rumours because he assumed the young women had simply had too much to drink, but Ms.Basurto was curious. As it turns out, they fainted after approaching one of the fragments.

"Did you know that-"
A thud to his left interrupted him mid-sentence. Ms.Basurto's had apparently fallen victim to whatever was happening to the young women. Flaithrí felt the same as usual, which was odd given that he was standing so close to the girl. Since Ms.Basurto had been communicating and moving without difficulty just minutes before, his alcohol theory was immediately disproven.

Thoughts of potential causes raced through his head, but as he knelt to examine Ms. Basurto's condition more closely, he realised he shouldn't worry about that just yet. What needs to be done is to make sure Ms. Basurto is all right. Flaithrí took off a glove and raised the back of his hand just above her mouth. sIt was clear she was still breathing because he felt her cold, gentle breath on his hands.

Flaithrí was not a doctor, nor medically trained everything he knew was from books and things like this his books didn't cover. The muttering of the crowd rapidly changed from the unconscious girls, to that fact that one of them had woken up which lead Flaithrí to an idea. Flaithrí unbuckled his cape, rolled it into a ball, and tucked it tenderly under Ms. Basurto's head. As a gentleman in this situation making sure she was comfy was about the only thing he could think of doing.

Location: Buffet for a bit, and then Fragment Display
Mood: Oh hell no!
Mentions: The other six chosen girls

To experience what it is like to see a stranger’s conversation without participating in it was interesting. Especially when the big guy told the duck walker girl about him being one of Ajna’s princes.
Mary was still drinking her glass of water while listening to their conversation until the two of them noticed her. This is when things become awkward, especially when she looks at the girl. For some reason, looking at them brought her a strange sense of deja vu. Not wanting to talk to them because of her shyness; Mary scuttled away from the two strangers out of pure embarrassment. They also didn’t want to bring up the fact of how that girl was causing her to see deja vus. She knew it would be awkward if something like that were to be brought up to them, so they fled towards where the fragments were being displayed.
…Scratch that. They went to the buffet before going to the fragment display. Mary wanted to eat a small snack, so she can forget about the whole staring and deja vu thing.

Once Mary got a snack that seemed to be from Anahaly, she made her way towards where the fragment pedestals were at. However, upon the arrival at their destination. She was shocked by what was going on in this area. There were six unconscious girls on the floor, and one of them was awake. “What in the name of Incienda happened here?” said Mary, who then shoved the small snack into her mouth to finish eating it before checking on one of the unconscious girls on the floor.
Now Mary usually isn’t considerate to a stranger, but due to how strange it was to see a bunch of unconscious girls on the floor. She couldn’t ignore it.
The girl, who was the closest to Mary, was a girl in a simple dress (Asta), so they attempted to wake up the poor girl.
Having no luck in waking them up, she attempted to wake up the next unconscious girl (Emira). A bunch of deja-vus indeed hit them just by looking at their unconscious faces, but Mary continued to ignore it. ‘Why do they look so familiar? …It doesn’t matter, since they are just strangers to me.’ thought Mary.
Still not having any luck with waking them up, Mary sighed in defeat. ‘What happened to them? This situation isn’t normal if they are like that.’ thought Mary. This is when the fragment was brought up within her mind. ‘Could it be from the gem fragments? …Nah. There is no way those fragments would do something like this.’
Yeah. Mary thought those fragments weren’t involved with this mess until her gaze panned towards the Aquamarine fragment.
Looking at that stupid fragment was a big mistake. It paralyzed her voice and body, and then threw them into what appears to be an ocean!

Mary screamed when she was allowed to do so, because it confused her about what was going on. “WHAT IS GOING ON?!” said Mary, as she put her hands on their head from the stress. They were the most confused out of all the unconscious girls, and it didn’t help when a lady, who was riding on an eastern water dragon made their appearance. That only got Mary to go back to screaming out of pure fear.
“Calm your unsteady heart, girl; For the worst has yet to come.” said The unknown lady.
That snapped her from her screaming state, but it instead caused Mary to become angry at the stranger.
“YOU!! Did you cause those girls to become unconscious at the masquerade ball? If so, I am going to beat you up!” said Mary, who tried to get her hands on the unknown lady. However, her efforts were in vain, since not only was Mary still in the ocean. The unknown lady was taunting them by riding around on that eastern water dragon of theirs.
The unknown lady was sighing from Mary’s behavior, because this was pathetic to see. “Your lack of consideration towards others is going to be your downfall if you keep lying to them.” said The unknown lady.
“No, it won’t.” said Mary, who was looking away at the unknown lady. They didn’t want to admit how right she was.
This girl secretly annoyed the unknown lady, but they refused to show that side of herself. “You are just proving my point here.” said The unknown lady.
The unknown lady then became creepy when the eastern water dragon got close to Mary’s face. The fake smile was written all over the unknown lady’s face, and the more Mary stared at them. A chill which was going up her spine became more noticeable.
“Stop looking at me like that.” said Mary, who was becoming more uncomfortable by the unknown lady’s presence. They also wanted to scream from the eastern water dragon being so close to her face.
The unknown lady stops smiling at Mary to make a neutral face. “Alright then, but you will learn one way or another about the importance of communication and understanding,” said The unknown lady.
The creepy, friendly lady then tilted her head to the right. “After all, your choice on whether you want to do this doesn’t matter.”
This unknown lady still crept Mary out. They were acting all sweet and kind towards her, but her guts were telling her to be careful around them.

Upon whatever just happened to Mary had ended, the poor girl screamed at what she had just seen. She was clutching their hands on her head out of pure fear before the same unconscious effect that caused the other six girls to be on the floor happened to her as well. Poor Mary face-planted to the hard floor, since the fainting showed no mercy to her.

Jian moved further into the small crowd forming at the doorway, his face masked with a calm and serious look. Inside, he was panicking ever so slightly. He had no idea what was going on, nor why it was taking place in the room that housed the stones. He hadn't seen his sister or parents for a small while and something tugged at his heart at the thought of them being involved. Despite the multitude of feelings of worry and dread lingering over the young prince's head, none of it seemed to escape into the real world. Panic amongst the crowd was one thing, but if they recognized someone of royalty panicking...well, then it'd be all over.

Pushing past the final group blocking the door, he observed the room. The stones were still there. His eyes glanced over them, counting them to himself. One...two...five...yes, all seven were still in place. On the ground were a few bodies, some already being attended to by fellow partygoers. They all seemed to be young women, one even having the same mask as the duck girl as before. Off to the side, a little ways away, a man with long hair was in the middle of taking off his cape and forming it into a makeshift pillow, placing it under the head of one of the fallen women. What had happened? Was there magic in the air? It couldn't have been something in the drinks. Otherwise more people would be fainting, all over the ballroom floor. Not just this small room. He watched as a lady came through the crowd and began to try her hand at helping some of the women up.

Moving forward, swiftly and with purpose, Jian made his way over to the one who seemed to be awake once more. She was currently investigating the brunette next to her. Kneeling down, he tried not to startle her as examined Noirin's condition. "Are you alright miss?" His gaze shifted over to the girl next to her. Looking back over to Noirin, he studied her condition a little more. She seemed dazed but not fully injured thankfully. At least she hadn't entered a coma. This led him to think that the others would return to their senses sometime soon as well. "What happened here? Do you remember what happened last?" His voice, while not usually full of emotion, was laced with concern for the fallen women. It was clear to anyone that the man was there to help.

Suddenly, behind him, he heard an ear-piercing scream. The blonde from before was now screaming, her sleeves of her Vinsumian dress flapped around rapidly as she clutched her head. Standing up, Jian watched in shock as she suddenly stopped and passed out while standing, her body collapsing like a sack of potatoes. Jian was a tad too far away to catch her and winced when her face hit the floor, her body unmoving. What was happening? Eyes narrowing, he stood up straight and walked towards the crowd standing at the door. Raising his hand in an authoritarian way, he waved at the sea of masks staring back at him. "Please, everyone. I ask that you return to the main ballroom." Glancing back at the few men that were inside, he looked back at the crowd. "We will handle this unfortunate situation. You all can do your part by giving us some room to breathe, yes?" He gave them a calm smile. Sighing internally, he hoped that would be enough to prevent the commoners from walking in and being affected by the strange fainting spell.

The girls had created quite the scene at the fragments display. Stella, however, was entirely unaware of this in the moments following her return to the waking world.

Her vision was quite blurry when her eyes fluttered open. She could vaguely make out blobs of light that she deduced to be the ballroom's lighting. Though she was still coming to her senses, she could also hear what sounded like muffled speech from above and around her prone body.

After a few seconds, the world around her came into focus. She was on the floor, staring up at the ballroom ceiling. Masked faces peered above her in her peripheral vision, speaking to each other in hushed tones.

As she pushed herself into a sitting position, her back resting against the citrine fragment's pedestal, she suddenly became aware of a growing pain in her head and knees. Wincing, she touched her hand to the spot where her head had begun to hurt. Her fingers brushed against a bruise, and a tiny whimper of pain could be heard from her.

Her injuries didn't seem to be all that dangerous, but Stella had always been sensitive to pain. Significant distress was visible on her face as she looked up at the crowd, now significantly larger than when she'd arrived at the display.

People had definitely noticed that she had regained consciousness, but no one had made any move to help her. They simply looked down upon her, whispering amongst themselves behind their masks and fans, their feelings toward the fallen girl obscured.

Lacking the energy to try and get up, she instead looked around the rest of the display. She could see Noirin waking up, being tended to by a young man in regal Vinsumian attire. The other girl that she'd seen before passing out was still unconscious, lying in front of the jade fragment's pedestal. Curiously, she could also see four other girls, each laid in front of a pedestal.

What had happened here?

Her mind drifted to that strange... dream? hallucination? vision? It had most definitely been some sort of illusion. Stella was no science expert by any means, but she did know that any person with several thousand feet of open air beneath them typically tended to... fall. Quickly. And probably die.

Who had that strange woman been? Stella had absolutely no recollection of her prior to the dream (?), but somehow, she felt... familiar. Safe. Almost like the connection that she'd felt with various girls that night.

She realized that she should probably ask someone for help - she wasn't sure if she needed medical attention - but she simply didn't have the energy to do so. She tried and failed to push herself out of her seated position, her hands pushing weakly against the floor. Giving up, she leaned against the pedestal, staring into the distance aimlessly, pain clearly written on her face.

The whole mood and atmosphere of the ball instantly changed. Surprised gasps and fearful shouts quickly filled the room. Everything was put on pause. Heads snapped all to the same spot, Hunter's including: the fragment display area. "What's happening?" Jian noticed the rise in abnormal activity and dismissed himself to check it out.

Hunter barely paid attention to what he said and followed him to the chaos. A swarm of ball attendees blocked the view and path to the fragments. Hurriedly, Hunter slipped and brushed through the many obstacles in the way. His eyes darted everywhere, taking in everything that was in the room and quickly trying to piece together what may have happened. "The fragments are all still here in one piece." Several bodies were strewn about the floor.

"What happened? Is there an attacker here?" Hunter noticed there were a few men helping out the bodies that were laying about. Out of his peripheral, he noticed a girl by her lonesome. She seemed to be in much pain so he approached her. Kneeling down, he began examining the girl's physical appearance with his eyes alone. "Ma'am, are you hurt? Everything's okay now. You're going to be alright." The chaos surrounding them only seemed to grow.

So much was happening but Hunter had to zone it out and focus on one thing at a time. "Do you know what happened here?" A familiar voice drew his attention to the entrance. The man he had met earlier, Jian, was vocally dispersing the nosy crowd, something that definitely needed to be done. Whatever was going on needed to be figured out right away.

Although restrained the woman in gold’s disgruntlement was evident, for all the amusement of Ihsan’s unconventional taste in entertainment provided—acting the fool and having others join, whether willing or unwilling, thrilled the arrogant Amir’s love of disorder. Yet it was in her actions as they darted between the thronging crowd, glancing off of strangers shoulders and slipping between momentarily parted couplings; tightly clasped together and swift-footed, until the rich warmth of candlelight illuminated from tall braziers, a high noon of molten fire playing upon the rich tones of amber-hued fabric and copper skin.

“They’re behind us, ” Ihsan assured, his gaze darting back and forth the rabble, “Somewhere, but surely behind us, last I looked—” A short laugh escaped him, willing to be dragged in exchange after the Muladi woman’s greater interest in the unfolding gossip of frail noblewomen and their weak constitutions; foreigners, all of them, which begged the question if the heat had gone to their heads, even in the evening climes of chillier desert nights. He'd been half-minded to ridicule them behind their backs as such, the pale-skinned and powdered ladies that resembled nothing native.

The veiled figure and her wicked albeit disguised smile, creasing the outer corners of her eyes and inked flesh, drove the Sayyed heir to pursue the shimmer of her figure where the mob of masquerade attendees parted, “You may as well speak of treason and I’d be convinced, let's not miss ourselves a spectacle for the season!” However, perhaps his logic failed him in not trying to dissuade the stranger.

Still clasping his arm, the nomad froze; her fingers digging into the very crook of his elbow—she slumped, within minutes of seizing up, Ihsan clutching at her half-stood form with the sudden panic of man and his new-found dead weight. Bringing her tight against his chest, pushing the mask until it rested atop his head, the Amir sternly shook his unconscious quarry.

“You’re not powdered enough for this, eazizi, joking doesn’t suit you—” An overarching tone of stout disbelief denying all actuality. His thick brows furrowed together, and with the tip of his index skimming her cheek it tugged on the veil--resting below her nose to see whether she breathed; lest it be known he was somehow involved in a scandal of the sudden and sweeping epidemic of fainting women turned assassination.

“I should give another handful of rings if only to have no masquerade at all.” A murmur followed, brows arching to scan between the other girls, some who now lived to rise again. “You must be a sleepyhead, ya 'iilhi,” Any following tenderness replaced with a sharp tut and click.

The prince held up a glass of wine. It's fragrance wafted off the rim and down towards his face, filling his unseen nose with tantalizing odors. Once again kicking himself for the one time trying to impress people with getup. I'm impossible. Every time I try and impress people, I end up making an ass of myself. Putting down the glass, he looked around. Walking away from the food he heard screams and to his trained ears bodies flopping on the ground. Either someone saw a bug or someone got assassinated. After a few seconds, he turned around and started to head towards the commotion. Of course, being a giant of a man, he parted through the throng like nothing happened. Even though a couple started to gripe at him but one look at his stature shut them up. His eyes widened considerably when he saw that five girls were laying faint on the ground. Looking around, he spotted some other princes. "Fellow princes, I believe the best option here would be to bring these ladies to the sitting area. It's out of the way, and they won't be bombarded by questions when the rest awake." He said before stooping and carefully picking up a lady that had face planted on the floor. Other than a small trickle of blood coming from her left nostril, she seemed fine. I wonder why they fainted? Especially seven of them. And around the stones. Fascinating. But not time for long drawn out thoughts, we need to get these ladies somewhere calm.

Slowly numbness returned to the brunette, "Five more minutes..." she mumbled quietly to herself. Right, she had to wake up Eos. She needed to make breakfast, she needed to get ready for the day. She yawned but she felt a slight ache behind her head but just a slight ache and nothing more, she didn't remember where she slept and she looked around the unfamiliar room, and remembered she wasn't on her island. She looked around to see a beautiful lady right next to her. "Oh dear lord. Are you alright ma'am?" she paused looking around once more, many ladies had fallen to the ground, near them, but there wasn't a single reason why they would faint. Looking at the stones her eyes once again found the jade stone mesmerizing. "Y'all ok too?" she then saw a woman, her nose bleeding slightly. It was a painful sight to see and she winced slightly. "Oh my. Bless her heart that she didn't break her nose." she murmured quietly.

Her eyes landed on the lady once more who was next to her. It was the girl! The girl who she tried to help, "Oh, thank the lord. You... You're ok." she breathed, sighing in relief. Her olive eyes landed to beautiful blue eyes, the lady sure was beautiful with her lavender gown. "Ain't this a mess... Everyone is in a fuss." she whispered to herself. Standing up she looked around to see Sir Bjorn near a lady through the crowd of people.

Strangers were everywhere and there were a few ladies her eyes caught onto and they were near the stones as well. She touched her mask slightly, it was still covering her whole face, thankfully. What did they all get? Temporary mind ruckus? Asta felt a laughter bubble up but stifled it with a cough. She remembered the lady at the beach, and what she told her. Closing her eyes. She remembered every last word like a song. Who was she? Was she a person created from the figment of her own imagination? Even so, if that was the case she seemed familiar, beautiful and too... real.

Everyone seemed afraid but with the help of a few gentlemen the crowd seemed to have quiet down at least a little. But what just happened? It was as if a blackout virus went across a few ladies across the rooms and they all fainted.

Belinha groaned as she finally came to. What just happened? Where was she? Oh, right, she was at the Masquerade ball. She retraced her steps. Right, she had danced, mingled with a few people, one of whom had been a prince from Sasuren. Next, they went to see the fragments, and then . . . . she was someplace else? No that couldn't be right, but the image was clear in her mind though of walking on the ground of Histadel and the woman. Just who was she? Confused and starting to get a headache, Belinha suddenly realized she was on the floor, and something soft was resting under her head. Mortified, she quickly sat up, but felt a bit lightheaded. Gees, what a night. She looked over and saw Flaithri.

"Ooh, what happened? How long have I been out?"

She looked around and saw that a few other girls had recovered. One nearby was a blonde girl (Stella) being assisted by someone in fine clothing also.

Her gaze settled back on the Carnelian fragment, and she once again felt a connection to it and it freaked her out a bit.

While Noirin was waiting for the brunette to wake up, someone came upon them. She looked to see it was a Vinsumian, they always had a distinctive way of dressing compared to other kingdoms. When he asked her if she was okay, Noirin noded.

"I . . . think so . . I am not hurt physically."

Mentally was another question for she still felt out of it because of the vision. The man asked her what happened and if she recalled anything.

"Everything was fine until I saw the Amethyst fragment. I . . . . I was someplace else. It was all in my head though. I had no idea I fainted. I wonder if the same thing happened to the other ladies here that collapsed. Still I never heard of the fragments causing anyone to faint."

Already questions were whirling around in her head. Why did she envision that scene in the library. Who was that woman? She felt like she should know here, but the answer wasn't coming. The man left her to take care of the crowd and it was then the brunette finally woke up. Just like with Stella, once Noirin looked at the young woman's eyes, she felt a sense of deja vu again, similar to the connection she now felt with the Amethyst fragment. The brunette was relieved to see she was okay. Noirin wondered if the young woman checked her before she too fainted.

"Can I ask you something? Did you look at one of the fragments per chance? Sorry, my name is Noirin and I am from Sasuren. Also, pardon me for a minute. This mask has been driving me mad all night and I don't care about being proper at the moment." she said before removing the mask from her face.

She didn't care if it wasn't Midnight yet. It was close enough.

A masquerade. The grand event that the festival put on every time it is held. People of all different kingdoms, all different walks of life, gathered and took part in the fine wine, food, and dancing. Dressed in their best clothes, while hiding their true faces behind ornate masks. Such a silly, frivolous display. To think her mother was insistent on attending, only to leave a short time in with her father as she had grown unwell. But Kajsa was told to stay as it only took one of them to care for her mother.

The young woman sighed as she sipped the glass of wine she held in one hand, light moss green eyes scanning the dance floor from behind her mask. Just like her dress, it was rather simplistic in design. A far cry from the more eccentric and ornate clothing that was worn by most of the other attendees. Same could be said for her hair as it was worn down casually in its normal style. Dressing fancily was an uncommon thing back home so it was no wonder she was dressed plainly in comparison to those who danced around her.

As the night dragged on, Kajsa's glass of wine steadily became empty. There were a few occasions where men would come up to her in attempts to get her to dance with them, only to be met with a cold, "I don't dance," before they left her in peace once again. Eventually the young woman had grown hungry enough to make her way across the room to where the buffet was being held. Her eyes scanned the table, taking in the visual sight of how much food there was to choose from. Just like the different people in attendance, it seemed the cuisine was just as vast. Kajsa's gaze soon fell upon a portion of the buffet where foods from her homeland sat. Sure, she perhaps could've dabbled with the different cuisines presented to her, but food she was familiar with sounded like the safest option. Making herself a small plate, then went to stand off to the side yet again to munch on the small portions she had taken.

It's almost midnight, Kajsa thought to herself as she gazed out the nearby window, eyes turned towards the moon, Perhaps I should take my leave. A party such as this holds no place for me.

Just as she was setting down her plate on a nearby table, the sound of alarmed cries rung throughout the ballroom. Kajsa turned and looked off in the direction where she heard the cry, people swarming to the fragment room like artic foxes to a freshly abandoned carcass. The young woman's instincts kicked in, telling her that she was needed. So without question, Kajsa fought her way through the crowd without question.

The sight she was met with was that of young women lying unconscious on the floor in front of the different gems. Gazing around the room she witnessed as a girl fell to the floor, more than likely in the same manner as the others who had already ended up there. As a couple young men, and a woman, aided the others who seemed to begin stirring, Kajsa made her way over to the young girl lying in front of the fragment of aquamarine. Kneeling down she gently rolled the girl over on to her back to check and lifted the ornate mask she wore up, that way she could give her face a quick look over to make sure that she wasn't visibly injured. Fingertips brushing back sandy locks out of the girl's face. The girl didn't appear to be severely injured thankfully. But what could've caused such an event? Was there poison in the food, or perhaps the air? No, it would've affected everyone were that the case.

Kajsa rose to her feet, confident that the young lady would be fine in a moment or so. However, as her pale green eyes turned towards the Sapphire fragment, Kajsa froze in her place. The gem seemingly had her trapped within its power despite it only being a fraction of the whole. Falling onto one knee Kajsa covered her left eye as she felt her strength draining from her body.

When she managed to stand again, she was no longer in Mulada, let alone the ball. Instead, she was back home in Ajna on a frozen lake, and there was a blizzard. "How did I get home?" As she gazed around Kajsa managed to spot a figure in the far distance. At first it was to make out, but after she blinked the figure was much clearer, and appeared much closer than a second ago. "How did you move so quicky?" Kajsa asked rather demandingly as she took an intimidating stance.

"I have not moved, my child. We are still great distances apart," the woman replied, with wind carrying her voice. Kajsa was rather taken aback by what she was told. Such abilities didn't exist in their world. But as she blinked her eyes adjusted back to normal, the woman with dark blue hair was still rather far from her. Adjusting her eyes to focus on the woman clearer, Kajsa watched as the woman began to close the distance between them. Her view clearer than freshly melted snow.

"Heed my words child of Ajna, for they will serve you greatly in times to come... When the world descends into chaos, you must never lose sight of the truth, for the truth shall reveal all in the end, and shall guide you. Keep your instincts as sharp as your blade. Never let it dull or hinder, and it will never forsake you. Trust in it... But you must also trust in others. There are some burdens that are too heavy to bare on one's own, true strength comes from knowing when you need help... And the truest strength comes from protecting someone you love. Find something you never want to lose, protect it fiercely, and it will grant you strength you've never known before..."

When Kajsa blinked her eyes the mysterious woman was now in front of her, reaching out a hand, and placing a finger in the middle of her forehead. With a gentle smile the woman whispered, "Now go," and lake beneath Kajsa's feet split apart, swallowing her whole.

Soon the world around her looked familiar again, but this time, she was where she had been at previously. The masquerade ball. What just..., before she could finish her thought the room began to blur as Kajsa too had fallen victim to falling unconscious.

A few moments later Kajsa groaned as she picked herself up off the floor. When her vision adjusted, she glanced around the room. It seemed that she hadn't been out for too long as the others were still being helped. But the raven/snow-tip haired woman knew that whatever had happened, she needed to get back to her inn where she can process this information in peace.

Getting on one knee, Kajsa tried to push herself up to stand.

Hunter glared at the fallen girl as she explained, if you wanna call it that, what had happened. His eyes followed her as she attempted to stand only to fail and fall again. "You're not okay." A sighed escaped his lips as he picked the girl up bridal style. "We need to get you some help." Just then, a very large man entered the room and suggested the fallen girls be taken to the nearby seating area. Didn't seem like a bad idea so that was their next destination.

Hunter carried the girl to the seating area and put her down comfortably in a cushion. "What is bothering you the most, girl?"

It took Mary a while for her to wake up from their unconscious state, since she was kind of a heavy sleeper. But once she did, Mary immediately punched the stranger’s right shoulder. Even though, they were carrying her like a princess.
The reason for her to do that stunt was because of her eyes glimpsing at the blue from the mask. They thought it was the scary blue beast, so she needed to attack it as a way to defend herself.
Mary was about to say some nasty things to the blue beast she saw from her vision. But stopped herself when she got a proper look at the mask the stranger wore. Upon realizing who she had punched, the poor girl with the bloody nose became embarrassed by that. They didn’t mean to assault the stranger who was trying to help her. And yet, anyone who saw what she just did would think otherwise. Especially if they attacked a noble by accident.
“Oh my gosh! My sincere apology for punching you like that.” said Mary, sheepishly. “I saw a terrifying blue beast, and had mistaken you for it for a few minutes.”
The pain from the face-plant then arrived on her face, so Mary had to take off her mask in order to relieve the pain. “May I have something cold to put on my nose? It does hurt a bit.” said Mary.
While she did that, they then got a glimpse of her family from within the crowd. Her parents were worried about her, her little sister was covering her mouth with her hands, and her big brother… Well, he had a disappointed look on his face when they saw Mary’s punch stunt. It seems like her family weren’t around when the screaming or the face-planting happened, so for them to see her in that horrible state only made her more embarrassed.
‘Aaaaa! Why did they have to see me punch a random stranger? Especially when they are carrying me like this, since it is embarrassing.’ thought Mary.
She has no recollection of how she got herself into this mess. But regardless of what is going on, her instinct was telling her to get out, so she can save herself from the humiliation.

Straightening up from his position, Jian turned away from the dispersing crowd and back to the fallen women, scattered across the room. Some were coming to, while others still were passed out. There was a black-haired woman, her tips frosted like ice, as well as the woman who had face planted not five minutes earlier. They were still unmoving, but Jian held hope that they would soon stir much as the others had started to. His eyes traced over the stones, a curious glint in his eyes. Those curious, green eyes, landed on the amethyst stone. While he couldn't appreciate its beauty from such a distance, he could still tell that it shined with a precious purple sheen.

Some talk invaded his ears and the young prince turned his head slightly, his eyes landing on the girl he had checked in with earlier. She was chatting with another of the women who had woken up. It was that lady with the strange mask. He raised an eyebrow but decided not to approach the two. While the safety of the women was a priority, someone also would have to check up with the stones and make sure nothing fishy was going on with them. After all, that young woman had said she gazed upon the amethyst fragment and became like this.

As he was about to make his way over to the display area, that very same large, hulking, giant walked straight through the doors. It seemed the dispersing crowd had barely slowed him down and even Jian felt the need to step out of the way slightly as he made his way into the room. While the man didn't strike Jian as being...well, put together to put it lightly, he couldn't deny a naturally commanding presence emitting from his very being. Jian had a feeling that the man with the war mask could be of some help to the current situation so he simply held his tongue. The man looked around and spoke, his voice completely sure of himself at the moment. "Fellow princes, I believe the best option here would be to bring these ladies to the sitting area. It's out of the way, and they won't be bombarded by questions when the rest awake." Jian couldn't help but agree, though maybe not for the same reason as the stranger. Questions were one thing, but Jian was worried about the same thing occurring time and time again. If there was some sort of magic laced in the room, then they could easily get caught in a fainting loop of some sort.

Nodding his head, Jian watched as the man closed the distance between himself and the woman who faceplanted into the floor. He lifted her up with ease, setting her into a princess carry. Seeing as she was being tended to, and seeing Hunter lead another one out of the room, Jian opted for approaching the black-haired woman who seemed to be stirring awake. Looking over to the pair of girls from before, he spoke up to the two of them even as they seemed to be checking in with each other. "You two. If you are able, I would recommend making your way towards the seating area past the doors. Staying in a room where such an incident occurred certainly isn't favored, yes?" He added with a light chuckle and smile.

With that, Jian made his way over to the woman who was now wide awake, checking her surroundings. Her hair, Jian noticed, was slightly stuck to her skin. She may have been sweating during her faint, causing the ebony locks to meld together with her skin. She was groaning and attempting to stand, pushing up on one knee and taking a breather. Approaching her from the front, so as to not spook the young woman, Jian simply offered his hand down to her and gave her a smile. Seeing as the girl from before removed her mask, Jian took the excuse of the entire situation to remove his as well. His bright green eyes shone down at her with calmness but slight worry. He spoke softly but firmly, reigniting the urgency of leaving the room in case more dangers lurked in the corners. "Hello there. Are you alright? Let's get you up and back to the seating area miss. I would hate to experience another round of fainting because we decided to idle."

"this is a dialogue,"

During the situation Flaithrí had been watching over Ms.Basurto, the situation seemed to be deteriorating. Several more young females had collapsed, and the crowd was becoming increasingly rowdy. Fortunately, it appeared that some people had begun to try to keep the peace. Flaithrí was interested in what the two of them had said, a gigantic behemoth of a man and a lot more slender man plainly hailing from Vinsumi, the former a fellow prince who had the proper idea moving the females to a quieter location one of which only members of royalty had access to. The one from Vinsumi was attempting to help with the crowd before assisting with the girls.

The giant of a man had decided to pick up one of the females to move them, and he did it as if she weighed nothing to him. Flaithrí, on the other hand, gulped as he looked at Ms.Basurto; it wasn't that she appeared particularly heavy, far from it; it was that Flaithrí and strength never went hand in hand, so he was more concerned about dropping the girl than anything else.
'Come on Flaithrí, you know you can do it.'
He was just about to put his hands under the girl before noticing her waking.

"Oh thank the gods."
Flaithrí breathed a sigh of relief, both because she had awoken and because he no longer had to carry her. He felt a bit harsh thinking that, but the truth was that he would never have forgiven himself if he had dropped her.
"To be honest, I'm not sure; we're still trying to figure it out. You had only been unconscious for a brief minute, but let's put that aside for the time being and get you off the floor."
Flaithrí rose to his feet and extended his hand to the young girl.

It was her choice whether or not to take Flaithrí's hand, but he wouldn't have felt right if he didn't at least try to help. Flaithrí talked about whether she took his hand or not.
"If you're feeling well enough, taking a seat somewhere more comfortable might be the best option. There has been talk of opening up the seating area to anyone who has been affected; I'm hoping that with you all together, we could try to piece together what has happened; I would be willing to accompany you if you so desire."

Flaithrí looked around at the remainder of people who had succumbed to this sickness, and while simply glancing at first, his gaze was drawn to someone who felt all too familiar. One of the ladies who had succumbed to the ailment had removed her mask, and the more Flaithrí looked, the more familiar she felt. It was like deja vu; he knew he knew that person, but who was she?

It was as though simply gazing at her brought back a long-forgotten memory from his childhood. Noirin Fitzpatrick, a member of Sasuren's upper-class and one of the only individuals Flaithrí had ever considered a friend; the couple hadn't spoken in nearly eight years and although looking older, it was undeniably her. There was a glimmer of joy on his face as he mentally noted what she was wearing, her mask despite the fact that it was currently off, and her hair style in order to remember her so that the two might converse when this crisis was resolved. He swiftly turned his attention back to Ms.Basurto, as of right now ensuring she was okay was his priority.

"Remember" adjusting her daughter's mask-a silk covering worn by the women of Muladan, Aisha gave her a once over, velvet-colored lips pursed together. She slowly circled the girl, adjusting minor imperfections that weren't noticeable but that she was sure would ruin her daughter's prospect of snagging a rich and influential son-in-law for her. You couldn't be too careful amongst nobels, her experience had taught her that they value looks far above anything else, if the wife doesn't have the strength they should at least be pleasing to the eye-something to showcase to others, to flaunt. "They aren't looking for a lifelong partner, mostly for someone to keep them company for the night" she flicked off a piece of lint from her skirt, "you only have to draw them using your physical assets, " she glanced at her daughter for a bit before a proud smile spread across her pale face, "of course you got those from me so you won't have any problem appealing to their more…carnal desires my dear"

Nadia couldn't tell if her mother sounded bitter or pleased, her eyes clouded as she looked away from her daughter towards the sea of bodies, scrutinizing them. She knew what she was doing, it was what they always did, at events or on the streets she was appraising them, placing them in categories purely by their outward appearance, their demeanor. The amount of wealth their clothing seemed to say they have. It was the best possible way to zero in on possible prospects, though of course, they couldn't go off based on looks alone, many times her mother had been duped by some market seller wishing to have her hand in marriage. Many of them of course we're nice and decent men, they weren't her mother's ideal husband for her, nothing but the best for her crown jewel.

"Now listen, it's nearly time for your performance, single out those from the foreign countries-they possible would be willing to have a bride of exotic origin" a dainty hand covertly pointed to two males that stood a great distance from them, Nadia couldn't see the other, he was slightly hidden behind the figure of the first male, but she did catch a glimpse of blonde hair. Their features, from what she could see, resemble non of her people-although she couldn't see their faces if her mother had singled them out then they must be very handsome indeed. "If not, the Muladan royals are also free game as well"

They both shared a look between them, Nadia red painted lips curving up into a secretive smile. The mother and daughter pair, though huddled on the outskirts, drew many eyes to them. The passerby who passed couldn't help but take a closer look at the two, with the stark contrast of their outfit-Nadias being the firey color of (red) and her mother a much cooler (blue), it was a sight that was pleasing to the eye. Patting her daughter's cheek, Aisha gently gestured for her to leave, Nadia doing so with a final kiss on her mother's cheek.

As she moved amongst the crowd, they slowly gave way, her graceful figure and slow gait drew attention to her figure. She had gotten used to the uncomfortable feeling that settled within her stomach at some of the more lecherous gazes, it was only Intensified by the knowledge that she couldn't see the face behind the mask. That's what you want, her mind whispered, for them to desire you.

She made it to her stage, an area that had been placed together for the entertainment of the guests, taking place amongst the others. She shot one more look towards her mother, before pushing back any thoughts of discomfort and completely lost herself in the music, the story it was trying to tell.

She would have continued to dance, observing the figures as they came and go, watching her movements with admiration, she would have continued to study the interactions of some of the guest-the more interesting ones for she felt a pull towards a few, something she couldn't explain. She would continue if a commotion hadn't halted everything. She stumbled when the music suddenly stopped, a piercing scream shattering the festive atmosphere. For a month she stood stunned as chaos just seemed to erupt all around her, there were shouts of girls having fainted for no reason, amongst the crowd she vaguely heard her name. Her mother.

Getting off the stage and squeezing her way through the crowd, she tried to move further toward the sound. After that she didn't know what happened, she felt a pull, this time much stronger. Her eyes met with red, then the world fell apart.

It was a strange landscape, one that she had seen just by glimpses through stained windows, one that was familiar-home. A strange figure stood amongst the swirling sand, her head held high as she glanced around them, red curls coiling about her. Nadia knew her, or a subconscious part of her did, yet amongst the sand and desert wind, her mind grew foggy to the point where she could only focus on the lone figure that stood out from the landscape.

"Funny how the wind can whip the sand into a frenzy" her eyes settled into Nadia, "yet despite all its effort, it can't destroy it. It strengthens lies in preservation while the winds" the sand around them began to swirl faster, Nadia had to shield her face, squinting as the figure seemed unphased by the storm. "is in force"

"Which one, do you think is stronger than the other? " Nadia found herself dumbfounded, what was this? Why was she here, why was this woman asking her strange question with obvious answers.?" The wind" she found herself saying, the words spilling from her mouth like the sand of an hourglass.

The woman chuckled at that, shaking her head, Nadia realized for a split second that she knew that was going to be her answer. Nadia frowned but she couldn't say she was mad, perhaps confused and a bit puzzled but not mad.

"Why is that? " she couldn't say, it just was the right answer. The woman sighed, her hair seeming to sign with her, she looked strong-Nadia realized. Stronger than most, she wished she was that stron-

"Strength comes in many ways and weakness isn't always the thing to destroy us. Sometimes the greatest strength isn't physical, but emotional as well. Learning to love yourself and go against those who you love for something you desire, that's the greatest strength of all"

With those final words, the mysterious woman, their founder turned and began to walk away, the storm engulfing her figure. Nadia couldn't do anything, the sand beneath her quickly sucking her until there was nothing left of the strange place or the women.

It took a while for her to wake up, and when she did, it slowly dawned on her the situation she was in. She was laying sprawled on the floor, her hair everywhere as strangers with their faces hidden behind masks looked dawn on her with many mixed emotions. She would have tried to get up, to remove herself if the pounding in her head and numbness of limbs hadn't prevented her from attempting to sit upright. The single thought she had in her head was how disappointed her mother would be.

Upon hearing a voice, Kajsa looked up from the floor. In front of her was a man in a rather foreign gown. She remembered seeing the citizens of Vinsumi wearing similar garbs when taking her mother to sell items in their market. Noting his outreached hand, and his mask now removed from his face, she could only assume that he was wanting to lend her aid. While normally she would protest, the circumstances were different. Kajsa accepted Jian's offer, her grip rather stronger than that of the average woman, and pulled herself up off the floor. "Aye, I'll be alright in a moment," she replied rather quietly, yet firmly.

Now looking him eye to eye, Kajsa was met with a man whose green orbs shone vividly like spring. Following his lead, the young woman removed her mask too as it now had some of her locks tangled in it. Her own light, pale green eyes were staring back in his, unobstructed. Feeling the sweat on her face Kajsa brushed back the few strands of hair that had become stuck to it. The warmer climate of Mulada was much different than her frozen homeland, but that's not the only thing that has her perspiring. Maybe she should take a seat?

Hearing one of the girls speak up about a vision she saw after staring at the Amethyst fragment, as well as the girl she checked on before fainting herself who had seen something after staring at the Aquamarine fragment, Kajsa knew then that she wasn't the only one. "I believe that so long as my eyes do not gaze upon the Sapphire, I shouldn't faint again," seriousness laced in her voice, "It seems that while these are only pieces, their power should not be taken lightly."

By now Kajsa felt as if she had enough of her strength back to make it to the seating area without aid. Posture straightening while she watched as a few of the girls were being carried out. The rest were still sitting in their places. It appeared that they would all recover in a while.

"I would like to thank you for lending me aid. As well as an apology for potentially soiling your evening." Kajsa gave a respectful bow of her head when she spoke. Though what had happened was not anyone's fault, she could not shake feeling mildly responsible for causing a scene. She also could not shake off what she had witnessed during her time unconscious. Whoever that woman was, and whatever the source of the night's events may be, Kajsa intended to seek the answers out, one way or another. "I feel better now than I did prior. But if it's alright with you, I would prefer waiting to sit until I know the others have been taken care of."

Bjorn looked down, a chuckle escaped from his masked face as he gently put down the girl. "Do not worry, there is no harm done... although calling me a blue beast is a bit harsh," he chuckled. "You don't know how I look. I could be a heartthrob, or I could be a scarred up hunter."

"Get some ice for this young lady," he said to one of the nearby waiters as he inspected the blood that had gotten on his coat. "As I said, there's no reason for you to be worried. You had fainted and I helped you. Don't worry about trying to pay me back, I did it out of the goodness of my heart."

Belinha couldn't believe she'd only been out of it for a few minutes when it felt longer than that. Still, at least it had only been a couple of minutes. Seeing Flaithri over his hand, she gratefully gave him her hand. He legs felt a bit shaky as she stood up. She felt a bit lightheaded but managed to stay on her feet. That was something at least. Good thing her family wasn't here. Even Maria would have fused over her. Flaithri suggested moving to a place to sit down.

"That sounds good to me. I am still feeling a bit out of it. Nothing like this has ever happened to me." she said before turning to see a gorgeous woman (Nadia) drop nearby.

This was one crazy night. She looked back at Flaithri to see him looking in the distance. She looked in his direction can could make out a couple of ladies near the Amethyst.

"Are you okay? Do you know those two?"

It had been 7 years since the last time the annual fair was in Mulada. Prince Aamir had been 16 at the time and had help set things up. He did the same thing this time around too. Him and his family enjoyed getting directly involved with getting things done. No one could accuse the Mulada royal family of being lazy. The Festival itself had been a success with no major issues. Aamir was honest though; he was looking forward for normalcy to return. And the next time the Festival happened in Mulada again, he would be king and have even more responsibilities. Hopefully he'd be married with a kid or two by then also. It was well known throughout the kingdom that heirs would become king when they turned 24, and Aamir's was in a couple of months. He was nervous but was determined to be as great a king as his father, King Kamir. At the Ball, his father had wanted him to dance with as many women as he could. And he did and his feet were tired as a result. At the moment, he was taking a break, eating some food from Anahaly. He made it a point to eat something from every kingdom this night and Anahaly had excellent sea food. He had just finished eating when he got word of something happening in the room with the fragments. Being one of the hosts, Aamir felt obliged to see what was happening. Even though he wore a scarlet mask on, one look at his attire, anyone could guess he was upper class, however, the intricate gold armband on his upper arm distinguished him as a royal.

Entering the room with the fragments, he was quick to see what the deal was; multiple women had collapsed onto the ground. He saw a few other princes helping them out as some of the women recovered. Looking, he saw a Muladi woman on the ground. She seemed to have just come to. Coming over to her, he knelt down close.

"Miss, do you need any assistance? Are you hurting anywhere?" he asked, trying to gauge if she was okay.

He would have physically checked, but that would have been inappropriate.

Jian watched as the woman in front of him craned her head up to his form. She stared at him and his outstretched hand for only a moment, before moving forward with action. "Aye, I'll be alright in a moment," she spoke with a quiet conviction and sturdiness to her voice. When her hand met his own, he felt the strength of the woman as she rose up from the ground. She didn't slip, nor did she make him do all the work of lifting her up. Jian could tell that this woman wasn't a simple wallflower to be admired in a glass case. His smile widened a bit more, a bit entranced with the girl and her strong yet quiet feel.

As she reached full height, her gaze seemed to focus on him a bit more before she moved to take off her own mask. Jian's bright, green orbs met her own pair. They were the same color, yet paler. Calmer. While his eyes were bright, shining, and full of life, hers were calmer, sturdier, and somewhat intimidating if he were being honest. Again, the man found himself mesmerized and opted to simply get her steady, hovering a hand behind her back in case she were to fall again. While he was focusing his attention on her well-being, she seemed to steady and catch some chatting in the room. "I believe that so long as my eyes do not gaze upon the Sapphire, I shouldn't faint again," she spoke, her tone dead serious. This helped Jian snap back into the reality of the situation. This wasn't simply just a normal fainting spell where he got to play prince and charm the lady. No, this was something more worrying. He was glad that he wasn't the only one who understood that. "It seems that while these are only pieces, their power should not be taken lightly."

Jian raised his eyebrow as he processed all of the info. "Is that so...?" he trailed off, looking back towards Noirin. First, it was the Amethyst fragment and now it was the Sapphire? He had thought that the Amethyst fragment had been tampered with somehow, but if the Sapphire caused such effects as well...then maybe the green-eyed woman was correct in her assessment. That begged another question, however. If the pieces still held power, why hadn't anything occurred at any of the other festivities over the years? Sighing, Jian looked towards the doorway as he thought of the one man who might know what was going on; Andun.

Straightening up, Kajsa moved a bit away from Jian, who decided to retract his hand from ghosting her. "I would like to thank you for lending me aid. As well as an apology for potentially soiling your evening." She spoke and bent down, her body forming into a respectful bow as she gave him her thanks/apology. Of course, it would be rude not to return such a formal act of thanks and so Jian did so with the elegance that might only be found among the Vinsumian royal blood. "Of course. No need to worry, however. My evening is far from soiled." He gave her a small smile as he crossed his arms in a comfortable, yet regal way. "Though, I wouldn't hold my breath. I just hope nothing escalates from here on out."

Humming in thought, he truly didn't want anything else major to occur. The last thing he needed was a family member to be the next to pass out in a different room. Speaking of which...he wondered where Meiying had run off to? His parents were probably in a whole different area than the rest of the party but surely Mei had heard the commotion. Sighing quietly to himself, he checked that off on his mental list as another thing to look into later. Looking over to the snow-tipped girl, he saw a few emotions swimming through her iris that seemed to be growing. She was clearly in thought but that quickly dissipated as she looked back over at him. "I feel better now than I did prior. But if it's alright with you, I would prefer waiting to sit until I know the others have been taken care of." Jian frowned. He didn't want the girl to strain herself, even if she did claim to be feeling better. He reasoned, however, that so long as she didn't gaze upon a fragment then she would be fine. He could commend her as well for wanting to see the others to safety first. A clear sign of a natural leader. Perhaps she had a military background?

Nodding his head, he motioned his arms as if to say "you are welcome to do as you please." and gave her one more bow. "So long as you take care of yourself first miss. I fear I must take my leave in search of someone who might have answers to our predicament. If I may, my name is Jian Ishikawa; second prince to the Vinsumian royal bloodline. What might your name be?" He thought it would be good to gather as many details about the event as he could. He wasn't just trying to get the girl to share her name because he was curious about her. Certainly not.

It's Alright

"this is a dialogue,"

Flaithrí assisted Belinha up, and as he did so, he realised how light she was; he could easily have carried her if the occasion had demanded it. If a similar situation ever occurred again, he would remember to always try before giving up. Flaithrí kept a careful eye on her because it was evident she was still unstead up from the incident.

Belinha had observed Flaithrí as he looked into the distance and had inquired about the girls.
"I recognise one of them; she's an old friend of mine, but whether she remembers me is another thing."
Flaithrí's mind wandered, his gaze darted between Belinha and Noirin, and he remembered Belinha claiming she was from Histadel. Flaithrí's gaze shifted from the females to the orange and violet stones, which caused a notion to cross his mind. Was it mere coincidence that both girls passed out after getting near their land's stones? Flaithrí wasn't sure, but it was one hypothesis he could live with until he could speak with the rest of the girls.

Flaithrí chose to abandon his theory for the time being.
"If your feeling well enough, shall we proceed to the seating area?"
Flaithrí was inclined to offer the girl an elbow but wasn't sure if he was getting ahead of himself and ended up executing an awkward little arm snuffle as he hesitated after starting the move.

Kajsa gave a nod of affirmation, standing by her word. The only thing any of them shared in common, that she could think of, was that they all experienced a vision after looking at a specific fragment. However, this was only a theory, a feeling, after all. Without enough concrete evidence to back her up, the chances of anyone taking her word seriously were slim to none. While the others were being helped and stating what they had seen to their rescuers, Kajsa chose not to divulge her personal experiences. Once she had a better understanding of what was happening, then she might consider it.

As Jian spoke up, the young woman watched how his body flowed when he bowed. There was a level of elegance to it which she had not seen before. His stature and self-presentation in how he crossed his arms pondered the idea that he could be of nobility. What he brought up next, however, held a very strong point. Even as things were settling down now, as the others stirred and were being helped out of the room, there was not a moment of time to be spent relaxing. At any given moment, something could happen. They needed to be prepared.

But soon enough one of her suspicions would be confirmed as the man went on to introduce himself, He is of the noble class, she thought to herself. When asked for her own name, a small smile spread across her lips, allowing her expression to soften and warm. "I am honored to meet you, Lord Jian," she replied a bit gently while giving her own final bow, "My name is Kajsa Thostenson, warrior of Ajna." While she was not in loops regarding politics, his name had floated around the markets of Vinsumi during her travels there with her mother. From what she could recall, he was a leading general within the Vinsumi military.

It seemed that he was already ahead on trying to get the answers they sought. Mentioning he knew of someone who may know something they don't.

"Do what you must. I shall remain here in your absence until the room has been made vacant, and to ensure the safety of those who are still trying to leave." While she could understand the displeasure he held in regard to her refusal to rest, Kajsa was more resilient than her appearance let off. Only after the others had left would she allow a moment of respite.
