Alright guys, there's only three people who have posted this round so I'm going to assume that the others are either too busy or would want to drop or something.

As the RP seems to be grinding to a halt would you guys want me to brute force move it on with three people, try to fish for new people, or give up.
"Retreat at the moment of our triumph? No! We must press on!"

I am in favour of you continuing this. New people can be added as the story progresses if necessary. As it stands, I believe we have enough to press onward.

Nope. Never gunna give you up. Never gunna let you down. lol me. But its like I said, I think the weekly GM "k guys srsly. Bruh let's keep it moving..." has gots to be a mainstay or else every excuse works to not post.

Like I get it irl happens but I been doing RP for like 10 years and only seen one RP come to conclusion. It started with 5+GM, revovlving door of RPers then ended with 3+GM (actually me n' this other dude were OG charries). But it was a weekly grind that got easier over time. And the GM was abso-freakin-lutely commited. I get the vibe with you and hell yeah dope ass art skill be dope ass so hell yeah I'm soooooo down to continue whatever it takes.

Like thinking that we complete the Muduo scene and get some new recruits and go shopping or whatevs during downtime and chat it up as a team for a bit. In my last post, I totally turned off her 'Do it Myself' persona and had Rai start to play good teammate despite having free reign to do whatever she wants. So to make the new group more cohesive I'mma edit some of her Persona traits to be less Loner Wolfie and more Demanding of Teammates. In next post, I'mma just gunna have her see/do something "life-altering" that will change her persona if that 's cool.

Me wait for grand finale
So me can pew pew reload pew pew
Can't have the grand finale if there's no process. No point in me making GM posts or moving on the story if you don't react to it.

Anyways, I'll make a new interest check later to see if we can get more players, and I'll see if we have enough content to move the story on.

Alright guys I have a plan ready for whoever is left to continue the RP/this arc, you guys might not get to kill the humanoid outright but your efforts would be acknowledged anyways, don't worry there will be a round two with this particular enemy later down the line.

I'm going to work on getting new players in a new interest check and the move on post later tonight, sorry for the delays just been figuring some things out.

Alright it's been awhile but the new post is up, most of the enemy's moveset has been revealed, you guys just need to hold out until reinforcements come. That's the bridge to the next arc (and a time skip!).

If you guys want to kill it...sorry, too bad. You'll get another chance later on, for now Chief Luden wants something from it...he's a bit sus after all. But don't worry, you guys will get the A for effort and A for not being dead yet award, you can get a lot of pizzas with that and maybe new teammates even.

Let's just say round 2 would be a harder fight with much more stakes.

I'll see about posting a new interest check, and tbh I only needed 3-4 people for this. Let me know if you want new people or think the current line up is fine.
(BOLD AND CAPS REMINDER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE POLL) ^^^^^^^^

A delayed victory is a victory nonetheless.

Personally, I think we have enough. But if you think the group would be more lively with more people, by all means.

Anyways, in terms of game plan, I wanna have Tony tank some hits from the big guy while you guys try to disable it when more technical abilities.

Oh yeah I saw BuggaBoo BuggaBoo mention they don't have comms, well, they're never getting comms because that level of wireless technology doesn't exist or at least not possible for wide distribution (think about how many people own cell phones in the 80s). The most advanced wireless thing in the setting is radio and maybe a 240p television and computers that function on punch cards.

Go back to shouting.

Bruh. The military still had radio walkies waaaaaay back then right? I mean they broadcast thru radio waves for the PA? Or am I missing something?

Well yes but PA systems and radio stations have bulky equipment that requires constant care from operators, there's not enough manpower in the city for everyone to get mission control so there's no personalized comms.

And I mean...yeah they had them but do you really want to write about this stuff. It's no Bluetooth headphone I'm not gonna make characters drag around a literal brick.

I just read your post and it gave me legit chills. Just imagining this giant fleshy creature with eyes placed sporadically around its body is really creepy.

But anyways, I'm fine either way. New people or not I can do it!

Okay I would like to put the move-on days on either Sundays or Mondays, but I would need at least 3 people to post before I can actually move on.

I'll try to keep it going for a little longer but if people aren't active there's not much I can do.

Well, I do like the vibes I get, so I'll be working on a sheet.

Thinking of an Electricity user that was rejected from Armament for a lack of control, but taken in by the STF as a hard hitter instead. Not specifically assigned to a team, but more of a floating Agent to deal with Mudao incursions where collateral isn't so much of a concern as it is a question of how much there will be.

“Advancement at the cost of humanity for its own sake? Is there anything more human?”

Name: Dominic Paleglade
Age: 111
Combat Experience: 6 Months
Department Transfer History: Misthart Tower, Research Division,
Protective Ward: Yes

Eye Color: Turquoise
Ability Name: Patient Zero
Visionary Ability:

Patient Zero is name given to the ability to control all of the body's autonomous functions as well as the ability to alter the host's body chemistry. This ability is versatile, and allows for a variety of effects. Including:

- Enhanced Speed, Strength, Endurance, and Stamina
- Enhanced auditory, visual, and olfactory senses
- The ability to "close off" pain receptors
- Immunity to illness via forcing the body's cells to target the specific cells and eradicate them
- The ability to alter his age via constantly developing new cells to replace old or dead cells, maintaining youth and wellness
- Complete control of hormones, their release, their strength, and amount. Fuels most of the features mentioned above as well as the ability to instantly sleep or force himself to remain conscious. This can even force his heart to keep beating and heal outside of intensely severe damage.

Equipment:

- Medical First Aid Kit and Equipment
- Pistol Sidearm
- Rifle
- Combat Knife
- Lab Vials for Samples

Personality:

Dominic is a peaceful and caring sort, in of that he abhors violence and wishes for the best for all people. He studies medicine in hopes of maintaining the existence of those currently alive, as well as to improve the lives of those who are to come. Because of his past experiences, he despises the outside world and the ideas of poverty and ignorance.

General History:

Dominic spent many years of his life as a nomad. A drifter that barely managed to stay alive, even with his ability that he had a difficult time understanding. This all changed with the railroad. When he discovered it, or rather than beginnings of it, he saw a means of escaping his ignorance and mediocrity. Seizing the opportunity, he began learning, assisting on the construction as best he could. Thus began the journey of self improvement, and the hunger for knowledge.

After the completion of the railroad, he went to the newly established Misthart Tower. Over the years he engrained himself into the civilization, at first still remaining in the outskirts until the situation became more suitable for him. In time, Dominic became a worker within Misthart, becoming a member of the medical field where his research flourished. Through this study he was able much more effectively use his abilities through his understanding of the human body and medicine.

After many years at this, a newfound use for his skills, mind, and ability came about. He was requested, or was he just given the idea? Even he isn't really certain. However, he began studying and training for active duty so he could go out into the field and help in another way, while also continuing his own research. Because of the need to be more physically able, he determined it was time to commit the personal taboo he had established. Using his ability, Dominic reverted his body back to it's prime, with some minor enhancements, of course.

From here, who knows?

Miscellaneous Info:

Nothing now, maybe something later?

Say hello to some of the new people, as well as EnvelopeBees EnvelopeBees who told me they will be returning.

Due to that I want to push the IC day a bit so the new people can get a piece of the action in this bit, after that we will move past the introduction arc into the first real investigation!

“Dangerous? Better than wasting my gift. They'll come even if I try to live peacefully.”
981773c677.png

Appearance: A rather short male at 5'5, Remus hasn't grown a single inch in the last four years. His lean physique is similar to a runner's and he trains for endurance and stamina. He's got more than his fair share of scars from being out in the field, and he tends to have a somewhat dishevelled look to him. His hair is quite long, but also rather coarse and rough. The use of his abilities only makes it even wilder and a mess to take care of. Many combs have been lost trying to tame the mess, but he refuses to get it cut even if he'll tie it up at times.

His clothes tend to be on the plain and drab sort, often with at least a tear or two. He prefers if they cover a lot of skin, so even during the summer he can be found in sweaters or the like.

Name: Remus
Age: 19
Combat Experience: Four years.
Place of Birth: Mistol
Department Transfer History: Special Task Force for those four years. He does some contract work with Logistics at the power plants.
Protective Ward: Yes, although he's on his third. He feels pretty bad each time he needs to renew it.

Eye Color: Red
Ability Name: Stormbringer
Visionary Ability: Remus can call upon an immense amount of electricity, but it takes time for him to build up something befitting his ability's name. The gathered energy forms a shell around Remus and offers him some protection as arcs of electricity bat away projectiles, but he has to remain stationary to build up his charge. The crackling is quite loud and the bright blue arcs eye-catching, so he often becomes the target of Muduo in the vicinity. When charged up though, he can unleash arcs of lightning that jump from monster to monster. Primordial Muduo often burst from being super-heated, while Bestials are left smouldering and twitching.

Against creatures that require a more concentrated response, Remus carries a few rods made with a mix of metals. These function as both projectiles that he can launch as a makeshift railgun, and lightning rods once embedded within his target. They allow him to focus his electricity on a single target more easily and effectively, pushing the electricity deeper into large targets like Amalgams.

Equipment
  • Lugs around a LMG to give him additional suppression capabilities outside of his Visionary Ability.
  • Standard issue sidearm.
  • Collapsible baton. When he can pump enough electricity through it to kill Primordials, the increased range is preferable to a combat knife.
  • Shaded goggles. Given how bright his ability use can get, it's practically a necessity for Remus to wear these if he wants to use Stormbringer at its full charge.
Personality: While Remus isn't the most outgoing young man, he's got a rather chipper and upbeat attitude. He'll poke around if he sees something wrong, and his inquisitive nature has led him down curious paths before. Hard to offend, he doesn't get riled up so he much as he rises up to challenges. A good natured sort of competitive, he's less interested in beating people and proving his superiority, so much as he just likes challenges.

He takes on a more serious air when it comes to dealing with the dangers that Muduo pose. His anger towards them has had time to simmer to something that's colder and more calculating. The sort that focuses the mind rather than making it go blank. He doesn't derive any sort of thrill or enjoyment from exterminating Muduo, but sees it as a task that must be done and done so properly.

General History: If Remus hadn't been lucky enough to awaken his Visionary powers, he likely would have died as a child. Not because he somehow used his untrained powers to drive back the Muduo's that had killed his parents, but because the flash and crackle of electricity made for a pretty good signal fire. Saved by a brave Sentinel willing to risk his life instead of letting a fellow Visionary die terribly, he quickly became a ward of the state in the aftermath of that incursion.

He wasn't provided more than the bare necessities, but Remus didn't mind. He had never grown up particularly well off and going hungry was a sensation Remus was used to. There wasn't much he could do back then though. He scrounged for scraps where he could, even stole when he thought he could get away from it. Now he had something he could actually focus on. There was more than just trying to survive from day to day. The Muduo had given him a sense of purpose even as they took away his old life.

It took some time before he actually managed to find any sort of work. Even with the Muduo lurking just beyond the mists, most people weren't willing to throw a child at the problem. Even if he was young enough to learn and train in various occupations, Remus was adamant about finding a position where he could use his abilities as a Visionary. What was the point in all the effort he had put into training if the results were just going to wind up gathering dust and fading away. With a dogged sort of determination though, he chased and chased his goal until someone finally took a look at what he could do and decided that it was best put towards exterminating Muduo.

That's how Remus ended up working for various Special Task Forces. Occasionally he is assigned to work with an outgoing STF, but for the most part he tends to be kept in reserve and on-call for Muduo sightings.
Miscellaneous Info:
  • Notoriously early riser despite going to bed at normal times. He often starts mornings with a run around his neighbourhood.
  • A bit of a glutton and a good cook too. Despite that, he's prefers when other people cook for him! He isn't particularly picky, and he can handle anything from sweet to spicy to bitter.
  • He also has a habit of carrying around some sort of snack at all times. Whether it's a trail mix, some chocolate, or something more filling like protein bars.
  • Even without the use of his ability, Remus seems to be a magnet for static electricity. Getting a small shock from him isn't unusual. As such he's pretty much banned from being anywhere near sensitive electronics.
  • Occasionally he'll sell off some electricity to the city's various power plants through Logistics. Given how much food he needs to consume vs. the amount of energy he can generate... it's pretty much a no-brainer.

Okay interesting, I'm going to presume that his ability to enhance physical capabilities is capped at "human level" or "human on steroids level".
If that's the case no problem, accepted

Fine overall, I know that I said cold war aesthetic for the setting, but it's really only an aesthetic, you don't really have to bring in actual Soviet era weapons into the history since this is an alternative history where humanity never really developed the concept of "nations" in the first place. Keeping it vague like just saying LMG or pistol and OOC noting what real-life firearms they resemble is good enough.
Anyways it doesn't matter that much, accepted.
most people weren't willing to throw a child at the problem.
He's one of the luckier ones in this regard I suppose.

Character reviews in the character thread would be up soon, maybe tomorrow. In the meantime you both are free to post IC. Let me know if you would like a quick recap.

The character reviews have been up for The Dapper Mog The Dapper Mog and Zombehs Zombehs , please check them out and let me know if I've made any inaccurate interpretations or assumptions!

IC day will be tomorrow night, hoping for a Mog post before that but it will happen regardless.

It will be the last round of the actual fight after the next GM post, after that the Scavengers will be seen in action in their operation to retrieve any dead muduo. It is common knowledge in-universe that interfering with the Scavengers is a bad bad idea, they are considered the most elite force in Mistol and were the force that stopped the last humanoid incident 30 years ago, they are definitely suspicious and have secrets, those will be explored eventually. But if you reallllllyyyyy think your character will fight them even after fighting a humanoid...uh...ask around to see if any other player's character would hold them back from doing it first, if no one offers up we can talk about it.

On the bright side, due to your selfless and valiant (or just stupid) effort in significantly contributing to stopping a humanoid muduo, the party will receive recognition from Misthart Tower. If you're the anti-government type don't worry, because there's reward money as well.

RESPOND TO THE POLL:
Let me know if a free week of posting to do some character relationship, base decorating, self-reflective monologues etc, is something people want, I'll allocate time to that if there's a demand.

IC post is now up!

Sorry it took awhile, there's a lot going on in the fight so I took a bit of time to organize it and figure it all out. I took some liberties with the chronological order that things happen in, but it's mostly in posting order.

tldr; your teamwork sucks and now you're exploded.

This is the very first fight after all, there's only going up from here, but you did manage to basically. Most relevant information is in the previous post already.
All the spoilered content are stuff your character won't know but are there to build atmosphere and foreshadow things, you don't have to read it if you don't want to because it usually will not directly address anything about your characters.

Also RESPOND TO THE POLL I NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO DO NEXT:
Let me know if a free week of posting to do some character relationship, base decorating, self-reflective monologues etc, is something people want, I'll allocate time to that if there's a demand.

I reckon some downtime for the team would be nice. We could arrange for some collab documents for rapid back and forth between team members. Also we need some trophies in the warehouse, can't we get some muduo sourveniers?
Collabs I have no control over, feel free to reach out to each other for collab oppertunities.

If you're busy and not a collab person feel free to discuss ooc some things your character might do, there will be a timeskip for all this stuff.

As for trophies, please consult other people's tastes before putting up something weird.
