I’m definitely thinking he would’ve most likely said that to her especially after he lost and choked in the Olympics, definitely feeling depressed and filed with anger and didn’t care what he said to her?

I think that’s good! Nina had kept contact with most of her old friends to a bare minimum after she left for college. Not enough to worry anyone, at first, but not as often as she should have. She still even made trips back home to visit. So she definitely would have reached out to try and comfort him about it. Him responding with that was probably extremely damaging to her and probably one of the reasons she doesn’t keep in contact with her others as much as she used to. #abandonmentissues

I don’t think she would dislike him for that though, she tends to put 100% of the baked on herself anytime someone gets angry with her. And she can acknowledge that his emotions were probably out of control so soon after what happened. So she’s just avoiding him to not be annoying and not cause she actually dislikes him.
 
Oooooo I love that it’s just so dramatic and brings so much drama! I’m definitely with that! As I mentioned from before James definitely is devastated and depressed feeling he failed his country and most of all wasnt able to achieve his mothers wish feeing like he’s useless at the moment.

I’m excited to see if these two ever resolve their issues, or if they just get worse. Who knows?

Woo, okay so Nina and Hanako. I think Nina thought that Hanako was really cool. She also would have tried to befriend her, like she did with all of the friend group. But Hanako also gives Nina semi-heart attacks like- weekly thanks to how many fights she gets in. Even if she does win most of them now. I don’t think they would have had any sort of direct falling out besides the fact that Nina did recently stop contacting her and the others as much as she used to. Which could have made Hanako worried/angry/confused. She’s your oc so I won’t tell you how she’d react to that.

Also would you like to plot? What do you think Donavan and Nina’s dynamic would be? Nina would probably admire his thoughtfulness and reflectiveness. They also could have bonded over being plant nerds. If you want to keep his tendency to not let anyone too close then they could also have some sort of unspoken agreement to keep a certain emotional distance because Nina is also terrified of vulnerability.

Me too! When I saw yall plotting it got my mind turning! x_Tasia_X x_Tasia_X How do you think Nina would feel about Lyra? I know Lyra has always made time for everyone and would have tried to taken Nina under her wings as much as possible; but she also did leave once Augustus disappeared, but I also see Lyra keeping in touch as much as having a phone would allow. I see her having tried to contact everyone at least once a month either via public library computers, or a phone if she could manage to pay for one that month while out traveling. Now though who knows with the way Lyra is spiraling, what kind of relationship they would have! Of course that is just Lyra's side of things, it really depends on how Nina would react to her for their relationship! I don't think she would ever fully take a 'no leave me alone' from anyone, she is/was a very determined young lady to get what she wanted-which was the best and happiest friends ever.

Awesome! Donavin is accepted! I'm really happy to see someone using plant magic and likes plants! The species in this new world should hopefully excite all the plant lovers and be interesting to see if he ends up liking the alchemy aspect of them or not! He would for sure have an upper leg with alchemy with his magic powers!

I can see Nina and Lyra being really close, they both have a mutual desire to actually be friends unlike most of her others friendships where Nina tends to be the main person putting in effort. I can see them getting along very quickly and probably becoming really close. As they grew up together, Nina would admire her straightforward and free nature while also being a bit jealous of her for that reason. Never enough to ruin their relationship but everytime Lyra achieved something there was always that little voice in her head telling her that she could never be like her or some other self deprecating stuff.
I can see Nina ignoring Lyra’s attempts to reconnect, solely because she runs away from all her problems and the things/people she associates it with. But Lyra’s stubbornness would win the battle and she would give in and pretend that she wasn’t ignoring her.

I looooove this! And honestly Lyra wouldn't have been so oblivious to the 'ignoring' but doesn't stop. This would have changed though in the last two-three years, depending if Nina noticed the difference in Lyra. All the sudden Lyra would have slowly stopped reaching out and then responding to anyone (other than James, but even then contact would have been getting less) other than the yearly invite for camping, she never missed that! How do you think Nina would have felt of Lyra's and Augustus's very close relationship. When making the characters I really had pictured them being friends first, probably her parents used to be friends with his-before they fucked up their and Augustus's life- and thus was much more keen on helping him out when he needed dinner/a place to crash.

Nina would have noticed the change in Lyra, but I don’t think Nina would ahe revealed that she noticed anything was different. But Nina wouldn’t point it out, since she had been doing the same thing.
I also think Nina would have been jealous of Lyra and Augustus’s close relationship. She admired Augustus a lot and he was probably her favorite out of all of her friends, enough so for her to be vulnerable around him. Though, I think her admiration for Lyra back then outweighed her jealous tendencies. She used her jealousy as a motivator to try and become closer to the both of them. Nina understood that they met first and were probably always gonna be closer, but she was okay with it as long as she could be important to them as well. Then it got messed up once Augustus left. That’s when she really started overthinking about their entire friendship. She kinda convinced herself that none of her friends actually liked her, which is another reason she distances herself from the others.
