Fantasy Freecasters: a mage guild rp (waiting list)

Well I'm planning to do a mainly an offensive based green Magic, she would be able to transform her body into monster body parts and be able to do monster things. For example transforming her hands into wolf claws or her eyes changing to having a petrifying effect like a Gorgon.

Sick. If I were in your shoes I guess the trouble comes with measuring what exactly should each transform be tied to which Tome level. Each spell would be a specific polymorph I'd assume.

Yeah that's my thoughts like Tome one would probably just be changing her eyes or nose so that she can smell or see better

That fits "convenience" pretty well. Your primary attack clawzies could be Tome 2 and that petrifying gorgon gaze Tome 2 or 3, depending how how debilitating those wanted to be.

Hmmm...

I guess its a matter of also how strong you want he ability to be, or also, how intensive and costly to upkeep.

I personally would imagine claws or small sensory enhancement would be tome one. Given they aren't too far off whats available to the person as is, it's a manner of enhancement.

Tome one can still be reeking of utility, tome 2 i'd imagine something more difficult, hardening your hide requiees larger controll of magic on your form or something of the sort.

Bendy tentacle arms.

Elephant nose!

I went simple for my stuff, were gonna be getting power down the line, so, best everyone build for long haul, no need for full concept immedately, these dumbos are gonna need time to grow.

Yeah if i choose something spider based spider it will either shoot spider silk, walking on walls or extra arms

AtlannianSpy AtlannianSpy I have an idea that my character could do short range teleportation magic to quickly blink out of sticky situations. If such magic is allowed, which branch would that be apart of?

Seeing how the other CS scale their spells so far,I'm not too sure of my own.

Valla's spells really range from parlor tricks to displays that are impressive but nowhere near long-lasting. The kind of thing that no accomplished mage would call powerful.

It might be good to have something like Cantrips if it is really minor effects, though I guess the problem would be what defines something minor.

Unrelated but I noticed you have a Gaia avatar as your pfp! I've had so much nostalgia for that site recently. <3

And yeah, people are gonna have their own thoughts on how strong certain spells would be. I'll revise mine ofc to make the tome levels more uniform. I kinda just jotted down random concepts I like on my cs for now. Also noticed I had this line the wrong way around :

before: there is not a single sin one of his faith can commit to a wrongdoer

after: there is not a single sin one of his faith can't commit to a wrongdoer

Pretty big difference xD

I'll need to sit down tonight and properly go over the CSes that have been submitted so far for balancing, if things are out of whack I'll work with people to do some tweaking.

From what I have managed to read so far though I'm impressed, lots of depth and creativity on display.

I'm thoroughly demoralized myself. This stuff is great.

Hey hey one question. In the Character Explanation section, it's written that we have 0-20 points to distribute implying we can have zero. But in the code copypasta (thanks that's super handy by the way), it's written 1-20 implying we must have one in each. Which is true?

Mmm apologies, that'll have to be edited for clarity.

You can have 0 in a magical affinity no problem. I wouldn't recommend having 0 in any attributes, I think it would be difficult to really represent in RP and not worth the trouble. If you think it's important for your character though I'm open to an argument for it.

Phew... took me all day but I finished in time. But um... the biography is about 12+ paragraphs long. Is that okay, or should I add some kind of summary in a tl;dr sort of fashion?

Thanks a bunch. And please do let me know if I got anything related to the lore or world wrong. I took a ton of liberties trying to fit her in an interesting way.

Perfect, thanks for clarifying. Knowing that now, with the suggestion of not doing so, it's hilarious my friend flash here posted their character... pfftahahah...

Oh, darn. He's suggesting no zeroes in Attributes not Affinities. Jokes over.

More summoning types then I thought, here I was teasing the idea of then classic 'partner in crime' duo of a upbeat softhearted airhead and her attached devious generally callous shadow-like bit connected to her (since it is effectively her Mana having a personality of its own for 'reasons'). Then again that idea is already there existing to be a pain in the ass to AtlannianSpy AtlannianSpy 's lore because I have a habbit of being a pain in the rear myself. Also being dumb and getting tempted to RPs when I can get quite busy as it is.

This looks amazing! Very interested if your still accepting.
we are~

Mmm so not as such no. It was kind of a deliberate decision my part not to include a branch that would directly manipulate space or time which is sort of what teleportation would be to my way of thinking.

You could however use some of the other branches to move very quickly and appear to be teleporting. Red would be the choice for that I think.

I mean we could probably make something along those lines work if you want, it's true that it doesn't naturally map to the mechanics we have here though
