Futuristic Unconventional Cargo

Hazmat44

Ignore the radiation. I do that all the time.
The S.S. Starry Lance is a ship measuring one half-mile in length, equipped with eight decks and luxury dormitories for its living crew. Accompanied by a robotic cleaning crew (which most certainly isn't haunted, please ignore the rumors) and bearing a fully-stocked cafeteria and automated cutlery and cuisine stations, you'll be living the life on this ship! All you have to do is sign up with Captain at the docks, sign the waiver, bring a weapon, and tie your bootlaces up tight, because you're in for a ride!

Ever wanted to get off-planet? Not satisfied with the pollution and political/literal backstabbing? Join up now! You're sure to fit in* with the crew! Just remember the three main rules!

Rule No. 1: Obey Captain! His word is law.
Rule No. 2: Don't be a bother! Nobody likes a sourpuss.
Rule No. 3: Don't inspect the cargo. Not even when it makes sounds.

Welcome onboard the Starry Lance! See you soon!

*Astronomical Shipping Corp. is not responsible for any decapitations, lacerations, defenestrations, illnesses, maladies or injuries acquired whilst attempting to mingle with the crew.

Max of eight players. You can have one character to start with, and if it picks up, the Starry Lance will stop by an interstellar refueling station and you can add another. Captain is a robot connected to the entire ship. If the cameras can see it, Captain can see it. The staff is also robotic, but none of them have weapons. The top deck is for sightseeing and observation, and there are several anti-spacecraft guns stationed at the front and sides. The second deck is for the cafeteria and social activities, and there are two separate game rooms. There's also a pool. The third deck is reserved for living quarters, which are both spacious and luxurious (to keep the mercenaries from asking questions). The fourth through sixth decks are reserved for cargo. The fourth deck is quite dark, you'll want a flashlight if you go down there. Cargo is your standard stuff, a few crates of lace and fabrics, foodstuffs, and a crate or two that might growl at you when you come close. Fifth and sixth decks are off-limits... unless you break Rule No. 3.

It's sci-fi. Magic doesn't exist, but tech is close enough. You can pretty much invent your own species if you want to, just PM me the CS beforehand and I'll check it over for approval. Minimum information is name, age, species, equipment, skills, and at least two paragraphs to describe their personality (edit: at least one physical weakness and at least one psychological or mental weakness, i.e. not good at math). If you want to include a backstory in the CS that's up to you; if you want to include a personal goal that is also up to you. I'll ask that you post at least once a week, but that's not an ironclad policy - it's there to make sure you don't get too far behind. There is no maximum amount of information; include as much as you want.

See you soon! Feel free to ask any questions.

A long fine printed waiver absolving me of any legal protection against grevious bodily harm while also offering me dangerous adventure through intergalactic space?
Call me intrigued, interested even.

Then call me your employer!

I'm definitely intrigued. Help me understand something real quick before I decide for sure, though. Is this ship military or civilian? It sounds like it's essentially an adventure cruise into space. Which is absolutely fine if it, I'm just trying to understand specifically because I have a character idea that I think would work either way. They're a scientist, particularly a biologist with a few degrees in related fields. If this isn't a scientific venture, it could just be them on a vacation or something. lol

It's a commercial freighter doubling as a cruise ship.

Nearly forgot to mention this - I've got one heckuva mystery planned for this ship.

Do we have to be human? I have a (space goblin) I could possibly add into this mix. She's currently just a WIP project I was making on DOCS. But I could finish her up sooner than later and submit her here if you think there would be room for such a creature.

... ^ yes, this is a female. lol
(the suit kind of obscures the female curvature)

Oh, any species is available! It doesn't have to be human. Heck, my in-progress is a shark in a mech.

awesome. I'll get her done ASAP then. Would a role on board as a repair-person be feasible? Just a general maintenance/mechanic for when mundane things break down?

That'd be incredibly helpful, considering how often cargo modules get breached.

Also, of course there's room, but you don't have to rush - it isn't starting for another few days.

alrighty then. I'll work her over during my free-time and have her done in the next couple days. We aren't following any particular format from what I understand, right?

Not especially. It's mostly action/adventure with (if I do say so myself) a good mystery added on.

Oh lol
Nah, not especially. The base minimum is mentioned in the uppermost post on the thread, but you can pretty much put whatver so long as it isn't overpowered.
oh, no worries on being OP. I like to play underdog characters. Very flawed, very underpowered, and very much not the world-beating-hero type. lol
