Name: Shoko Sasaki
Age: 16

xQQ9dM33ZEnCVGNuBBH1Tjs_fJBhxxMRr6jWBB3ggMSmUgamQqXKc3V2sJszUU2MeGkno9SwcLdHwJwSG-s0CfjgKkiUKCXIPj8UXmtTdp8H3WhIkEJT19Ic6NW0_RbMvM2Lvc6E

Personality: Shoko is more on the quiet reserved side, not wanting to draw much attention to herself in any situation. But when you actually get to know her, she’s a very kind but sarcastic person. This is most likely due to being raised in such a noisy and high-energy household, she could never match her family’s energy so she stopped trying. Although reserved, Shoko is very gifted in academics and combat. She grew up in a household full of boys, so had to develop a sort of mental and physical toughness, so it’s very hard to get her to crack or cry per se. Unfortunately, Shoko isn’t gifted in making friends due to her quiet nature, but in her childhood, she never needed to make friends since she had her brothers to keep her entertained.

Powers: In simple terms, Shoko has telepathy, but she likes to call it Mind Link. Shoko has the ability to talk to people through their minds. She can also mind link with multiple people at once, right now she can talk to up to 3 people in a 150 feet radius around her, 200 feet if she really concentrates, at a time, but the amount of people and range can increase through practice. To actually start using it, she has to focus on the person/s she wants to speak to, and if everything went smoothly, she would just need to say something to them in her head and they should be able to hear it and respond to her. But if the person she’s talking to doesn’t respond, then she’s kinda at a loss, since she can’t read minds. If she’s talking to multiple people at once, it becomes sort of like a group conversation, where the people she’s talking to can hear what she and the other person said. But this power is really helpful in giving people classified information since most people can’t listen to the conversation she’s having with another person. It’s also good for letting people talk to each other privately, with the exception of her hearing the conversation. There are drawbacks to this power though. If she uses the abilities for too long or has too many people linked to her at once, a loud static plays in her head. But if she persists, and still uses her power while the static plays in her head, it gets so loud that she could scream for it to stop. Even after all that, Shoko could still end up with headaches for the next few days.

Background: Shoko was the youngest daughter in an all-boys family. Her mother had died while giving birth to Shoko, but she had an internal power similar to telepathy as well, that’s where her family thought she got it from. So her father was left to care for her and her 4 other brothers, which was difficult but he was able to do it well, he was their sole guardian since he didn’t want to remarry. She found out she had powers when she was very young. And once her family knew, they celebrated. That’s mostly because her entire family were metahumans, granted they’re powers helped more in combat so they couldn’t really help train her power but they celebrated nonetheless. But when she used her powers, they always told her she acted like her mother. Scolding the boys after they did something reckless or telling them the consequences of a reckless plan that her brothers had come up with. They all went to the same school so Shoko and her brothers were really tight knit. Shoko lived a pretty normal life, that was until she received the letter, asking her to attend Vochertepp, she was 11 at the time. Her family was ecstatic to say the least, her brothers were raving about how good the school was and encouraged Shoko to go and accept the invitation. So she accepted and headed off to Vochertepp. She was nervous to be somewhere without her family but since her brothers told her how good the school was, she had high hopes. At first, Shoko thought the school was great, they had amazing classes and it was cool seeing other metahumans aside from her brothers. But soon the veil was ripped away and she saw what the school really was. It was an institution that put a lot of pressure on these kids. She had the hopes of showing her brothers how much she had improved, but she had a feeling she never will.

hello! i have a character idea, but i would like to ask a question first: how has the emergence of metahumans affected people's understanding of religion in this world? have new religions/cults risen up where the existence of metahumans is a part of their doctrine? have conventional religions seen a decrease in followers or have they adapted? this world is very interesting and i want to ensure that my character can fit into it accurately!

Personality:

Soft in the sensitive unknowing quality of a pulchritudinous person, yet left wanting, where urban chaos raised a riotous child, a lack of maternal care made grew a diffident, overly beneficent youth with callous care for others in place where loyalty should have been fostered. Cultivating a viscid attachment to pleasing authority as a means of transference, he is unmeaningfully belligerent to the outcast and harbors profound feelings of resentment toward the hand he was dealt in the world. He is extremely hardworking in school and constantly strives to please his teachers and overseers. Rooted in deep feelings of ambivalence toward others, Aven aims to present himself as an extremely charming, colorful, class-clown, a wild-child enthusiast, a ready helper, and an easy friend. He feels that others wouldn’t notice him or pay him mind without him being all of these things, and because he yearns for their affirmation, he resents his peers for making him put on this persona. He hates being in solitude and his greatest vice is envy.

Powers:

Glimmering Beast - Juvenile Ability: Aven inherited from his father's side the ability to physically transform into a wolfish animal shrouded in corporeal darkness. This imposing creature has increased agility and heightened senses, and possesses the ability to teleport through natural darkness as a means of solely confined shadow manipulation. He is unable to teleport in brightly lit areas and must also emerge in a shadowy place. While his mother's ability left her vanishing into a dark cloud of smoke, Aven's version is completely traceless. Because of Aven's inability to control this form, he often shifts at random. While in beast form Aven becomes unable to speak or communicate with other humans. While in beast-shift Aven becomes plagued with a false mentality prodding him to pursue more ambiguous motives-- namely, hunting senses-deemed "natural opponents". This makes Aven's ability dangerous and unpredictable as he struggles to will his animal-form to bend to his wishes. His father's version of the ability was engulfed in flames and breathed fire-- but Aven's version swapped all heat and fury for his mother's dark smoke aesthetic.
Mastered Ability: If mastered, Aven will be able to control the frequency of the beast-shift. He will be able to control the path, the intent, and be holding the reins on the monster. He will be able to seamlessly move between shadows as a mild low-range form of teleportation.

Background:

By the time Aven was born his father was already in prison. The big, higher grade government military prisons for metahumans, mind you. Aven's first memories of his father project the image of a madman, a raging, despairing man with a broken heart. It wasn't him, he'd say. He didn't kill those people. And Aven, of course he would walk away eyeing the security guards, doubting the bolts and the chains, mistrusting the men who took his father away from him. And his plain-Jane aunt, who wasn't really his aunt, would whisper prayers while switching gears in the driver seat, that Aven would not inherit the devil's tainted blood.

His mother had died during a complication during childbirth. She'd been from France and the rest of her side of the family was too scattered, too distant, and too elusive to locate in the allotted window of time acceptable to spend searching for a child's relatives. He was placed in a foster home, and then another, the early development of his abilities making it difficult to place Aven in a safe home for very long.

Aven received his letter when he was in the fifth grade. It came like a sigh and gave him relief from a tumultuous upbringing. Here there was order, and security, and other children like him. He enjoys learning and has a deep fascination for the natural world. He hopes someday that by becoming a hero he can atone for the wrongs of his father, and by mastering the beast inside, make his bloodline clean again.

skelly talk coming soon -- just wanted to respond to this

hello! i have a character idea, but i would like to ask a question first: how has the emergence of metahumans affected people's understanding of religion in this world? have new religions/cults risen up where the existence of metahumans is a part of their doctrine? have conventional religions seen a decrease in followers or have they adapted? this world is very interesting and i want to ensure that my character can fit into it accurately!
super awesome question, something i have not written too much on but would love to expand. i think religion both strengthened and weakened at the same time. for existing religions, some clung to their faith much more so, thinking that these powers were god given, or brought by the devil, or whatever evil deity in that religion. i think a lot of non metahumans turned to such faiths as an explanation to comfort them for the crazy powers that suddenly wrought down on them, and most definitely, brought a lot of collateral damage with them. as for metahuman based cults and religions, i think they are almost certainly happening. the ones that are not fronted/joined by metahumans are probably fanatical and get traction in an almost sort of tabloid way, like the 2012 doomsday type, but certainly have their place, and maybe laud metahumans as the rapture, the savior, etc. metahuman religions themselves are few and far in between. metahumans have little faith in religion, because they are treated so much like a curse that they usually turn to more morally grey beliefs. if you're a metahuman trying to be a priest of your own sort of meta-based-faith, you are probably a crazy ego person who thinks that your power or your brethren's powers is just meant to dominate humans. magneto vibes.

of course, there's so much room for more and you could definitely craft an element that suits your character in this sense, but i think if anything my final answer would be: there's a lot more doubt now, but also a lot more ideas about what the existence in this world means. the religions present in our world today (and in 2018, when superpowers were brought to light) are still very present, and have sort of updated their beliefs to coexist with metahuman existence, while new beliefs have spread to either condemn metahuman existence or herald it.

KAITLYN

THORNE

basics . ☽ .* :β˜†οΎŸ. ───
name - kaitlyn thorne
age - sixteen

personality . ☽ .* :β˜†οΎŸ. ───
kaitlyn is a quiet sort of girl, and most would describe her as having her head constantly in the clouds. she tends to overthink things people say, and can often get stuck on parts of a conversation, staying on one topic while everyone's already moved on to something completely different. kaitlyn does have a voice, though, and a powerful one at that- though she doesn't speak often, when she does, she'll speak her mind, and she'll make sure everyone hears it. kaitlyn has a great work ethic, and whether it's an assignment for school or a promise to a friend, she makes sure that it's done.

kaitlyn never got jealous of leo's powers- she always just figured that it was his gift, and she needed to find her own. this has made her become somewhat of a jack-of-all-trades, with surface-level knowledge of coding, painting, cooking, photography, several instruments, and whatever else she's happened to pick up in her quest for something to define herself. since discovering her powers, though, she's become a lot less open to trying new things, and overall more nervous and reclusive. while she doesn't necessarily hate her powers, she wishes they would just disappear, and thinks that everything would've been easier if they had never shown up at all.

powers . ☽ .* :β˜†οΎŸ. ───
astral shifting - kaitlyn's powers allow her to disconnect her soul from her physical body, letting her roam the physical and astral planes in the form of any creature. currently, she doesn't have any control over her shifts, her soul leaving her body whenever she feels any strong emotions and taking an astral form that kaitlyn has no control over. from her perspective, this results in her blacking out and coming to whenever her soul rejoins her body with a gap in her memory in-between, while to onlookers, it would look as though kaitlyn had fainted, followed by a glowing blue wisp escaping her chest and taking the form of an astral animal.

strengths -
β˜†οΎŸkaitlyn's astral form is unable to be damaged, but can harm others while in the physical realm.
β˜†οΎŸkaitlyn's astral form is semi-intangible, able to travel through clear surfaces, such as glass.

weaknesses -
β˜†οΎŸwhen her soul disconnects from her physical body, kaitlyn's body goes into a sort of stasis, almost like a coma, leaving her completely defenseless to any outside forces that might try to harm her.
β˜†οΎŸkaitlyn is unable to currently control her soul when she shifts, leaving an uncontrolled, and often violent beast, and a gap in her memories when it eventually joins back with her physical self. she also cannot control what animal her soul shifts into, with the animal representing her current emotional state when she shifts, though it seems to have a preference for felines.
β˜†οΎŸkaitlyn is currently unable to enter the spirit realm- the realm of mind and soul- but once she learns how to, she has the potential to wander off and get lost in the astral realm permanently.
β˜†οΎŸkaitlyn's astral form must make physical contact with her body for it to rejoin with it.

backround . ☽ .* :β˜†οΎŸ. ───
it's the typical superhero origin story. the adopted kid gets incredible powers in order to save the day.

well... not quite.

for most of her early childhood, it was just kaitlyn, her mom, and her dad. they were your average suburban family- her mother was a teacher, her father was a lawyer, and kaitlyn was a well-mannered school girl. that was, until kaitlyn turned five, and met her new older brother- leo.

leo was like kaitlyn, in that he was quiet and didn't talk so much as he observed. he was soft-spoken, well-mannered, and acted more like a stranger than a sibling. it took several weeks to integrate him fully into the family routine, and even more for kaitlyn to coax him into opening up to her. eventually, though, they started sharing interests and hobbies that they were able to bond over, creating a stronger relationship between the two that only grew stronger as the years passed by. and one day, when leo was eleven and kaitlyn was eight, he showed her a secret he'd been keeping for the last three years- his powers.

kaitlyn was infatuated with leo's powers. the photokinetic would often create balls of light in his palms, reminding kaitlyn of small stars, even lighting up the ceiling of her room with dozens of them to make a miniature night sky. kaitlyn was never scared of him, or jealous- she loved him and his gift all the same.

as she grew older, kaitlyn's timid nature and unassuming demeanor made her the prime target of bullying. even when she would try to stand up for herself, her small frame made her no match for the more physical taunts she'd receive. her brother tended to stand up for her, despite her objections and assurances that she could 'handle things on her own'- though she was quietly thankful that he was so insistent on making sure she wouldn't be beaten down on.

it all came to a head when kaitlyn was in eighth grade. she had been cornered by a group of boys in an alleyway behind her school, and when leo showed up, things quickly became physical. one of the boys charged the two with a switchblade, forcing leo into using his powers to protect them. even with leo's powers, though, the pair were significantly outnumbered, and leo couldn't take that many people at once. kaitlyn can still remember all the bodies pressing in, the adrenaline pumping through her veins...

...and then nothing.

kaitlyn doesn't remember most of what happened. all she knows are from the accounts of leo and the boys that had attacked them- most of whom ended up in the hospital. fragments came here and there, but they were never clear or coherent enough to make a full picture. all kaitlyn knew was that she was a metahuman, too- and a dangerous one, at that. not long after the incident, two letters to vochertepp arrived, one for each sibling.

the two had spent most of the summer laboring over their decision. a part of kaitlyn knew how dangerous her power could be, and that she'd need to get it under control as soon as she could. the other part of her just wanted to forget about her abilities altogether. in the end, leo decided he would attend vochertepp, while kaitlyn would begin her freshmen year of high school at home.

it started off alright. kaitlyn's bullying had been few and far between, reduced to hurried whispers among students through the halls. she missed leo, but he'd write back often- though kaitlyn couldn't help but feel that something was... off. at first she'd assumed it was just some prep-school protocol, but it would be just the way he phrased a sentence, or the wording he used, that made it seem all off. as the school year progressed, so too did leo's letters, going from a couple every month, then one, eventually trickling to none by the time summer came around.

kaitlyn couldn't help but feel worried for her brother, and though she was no longer defenseless, she couldn't help but feel utterly alone throughout the last school year. so when another vochertepp letter was sent out, she accepted it without hesitation. though she wasn't too excited to attempt to use her powers, she felt she needed to do it. if not for her, then for her brother.

oookay, got it up! backstory's a bit lackluster, but I figured i could sharpen it a bit once the skeleton was all smoothed out (β—•α΄₯β—•)

Name: Sylvie Angelique Destine
Age: 17
Personality: Sylvie is relentlessly well-intentioned while also being hopelessly awkward. She's shy in the sort of way where she is terrified of saying something wrong and coming off as weird. She's easily embarrassed and also embarrassed about how easily embarrassed she is. The root of this problem is a mix of insecurity, a lack of social interaction in her early life, and pride. Sometimes, she will run away from social interaction altogether, opting to appear aloof. Other times, she will reassure herself and gain a burst of confidence powerful enough to get her talking. And when she does get to talking, Sylvie is friendly, kind, and considerate, although a little hesitant when it comes to intimacy. She has a preoccupation with doing the right thing that some may find childish or self-righteous, but it's rooted in the belief that everyone has a duty to try and put good into the world to offset the bad. She's on the more eccentric side, willing to have conversations about obscure topics or discuss outlandish ideas. Once she connects to someone, she doesn't necessarily forget her own awkwardness; she just embraces it, allowing her creative and inquisitive nature to show through. Her decision-making process involves both intellect and intuition--both sense and sensitivity. A lot of the time, this can make it hard for her to make decisions quickly since she likes to weigh so many aspects of situations, getting caught in her own ruminating.

Sylvie is usually patient and organized and is prone to episodes of panic when things get messy or don't go according to plan. She's humble to a fault while also feeling the need to constantly prove herself. She puts herself down and compares herself to others, not realizing that she's making life into a competition where it doesn't have to be. Sylvie's humility and bashfulness can come off as meek at times, but Sylvie herself mostly resents this impression. It's not always easy for her to realize when she's being walked all over (and maybe she is meek in this aspect), but, when she does realize, her shyness fades and she can become surprisingly acerbic. These intermittent episodes of cheekiness betray misdirected resentment and also her inner desire to express herself properly without being so concerned with impressing people or avoiding embarrassment. To say the least, she's more emotional than she lets on. Maybe one day, she'll get to a point where she can be that bold all the time. But, for now, she's still a mixed bag of awkwardness, good intentions, a fear of/hidden desire for intimacy, and overthinking. For the most part, being the subject of a cult's worship didn't go to her head, but Sylvie does have a bit of a protagonist syndrome that affects the way she interacts with the world sometimes.

Powers:
"The Beacon" (Light Absorption/Manipulation): Sylvie's physiology allows her to absorb light like a solar panel. She can hold the light she absorbs within her body for an extended period of time and then release it. If she absorbs too much light without releasing it, she will begin to glow until she becomes blinding to look at. How the light is released depends on Sylvie's intentions, her technique, and the type of light. She can release the light as blinding (but otherwise harmless) pulses of radiance that emit from her body like a bright lamp. However, she can also release this light in concentrated blasts and powerful pulses that can pack a punch. With practice and good technique, Sylvie can release this light in the form of shields or simple constructs. Different types of absorbed light have different properties when released. It is important to note that there is a skill ceiling with all of this power's applications. I imagine Sylvie has blasts down, but still messes up with simple constructs sometimes.
- Sunlight/Daylight: Sunlight is the most powerful yet volatile light that Sylvie can absorb. It is hard to use for constructs due to its instability but is the best for blasts and pulses of radiance, making it great for offensive use. This is due to its intensity and heat. However, storing and releasing too much sunlight at once becomes physically uncomfortable and even painful for Sylvie after a point due to the same intensity that makes it so useful.
- Moonlight/Starlight: The types of light that Sylvie absorbs at night are more suited for defensive use. Moonlight and starlight are softer and cooler when absorbed, meaning their blasts aren't as naturally powerful and it charges slower. However, the stability of this light makes it better for making shields and other constructs, allowing Sylvie to be more creative with her powers. The side effect for this light (which can likely be explained by the way the human body's natural reaction to nighttime meshes with her powers) is that absorbing too much at once drains her energy considerably. Utilizing moonlight for too long will leave her fatigued.
- Artificial Light/Other: This light is easily the least useful of the three. Sylvie needs much more of this type of light to achieve the same effects as the other two due to its overall lack of intensity and the fact that it typically comes in smaller amounts than the natural sources (the Sun, Moon, and stars). This light is mediocre for both blasts and constructs. Additionally, absorbing a considerable amount of artificial light nauseates Sylvie. Her body doesn't take kindly to the wavelengths. This can lead to vertigo and even vomiting if she keeps pushing herself.
Strengths: Versatile depending on the light being used, potential for great bursts of power, can store light for long periods
Weaknesses: High skill ceiling, easy to lose control of, affected by emotion, dependent on access to light sources (if she has no light stored, that is), light-type specific physical effects

Background: Sylvie was born to Haitian-American parents in the suburbs surrounding Millennium City. She would've been set for a normal life if not for the fact that, when she was around two years old, her mutant power to absorb and release light started to show. Antoine and Audette Destine had both had dormant mutant genes in their bloodlines that manifested for the first time in Sylvie, their first and only child. They were delighted about this for a very wrong reason: they fully subscribed to the dogma of a cult that had recently been getting attention on the dark parts of the internet. This cult believed that metahumans were chosen by ancient gods to lead humanity. Sylvie's parents weren't the most stable people, to say the least. By the time she was three, her parents had packed their bags and taken Sylvie to go live with the cult in a remote woodland area in the state of New York. Thus, Sylvie was raised in a metahuman-glorifying cult. It sucked.

Sylvie can't remember how old she was when she realized that everything she was being taught was garbage, but she could guess that it was when she was around seven or eight. Her daily activities including twisted homeschooling, a weird service that involved the non-metahumans bowing to the metahumans, and meals where the metahumans were the subject of strange prayers. Sylvie and a few other metahuman kids in the cult had gotten access to phones and laptops and learned what the outside world was like. Sylvie resented her parents for subjecting her to this life and dreamed of escaping, but the opportunity didn't present itself for a while.

Things got especially bad when Sylvie's power began to grow, showing potential that surpassed those of the other metahumans. The doctrine of the cult shifted specifically towards her, claiming that she was a descendant of the ultimate god in their strange pantheon. They called her power "The Beacon." Her daily activities shifted to account for the fact that she became the primary subject of the cult's worship. It was nauseating. However, someone with inside information tipped off the FBI. One day, during a service where Sylvie (fifteen at the time) and "The Beacon" were being exalted, FBI agents busted through the door and arrested everyone. The cult had been violating all sorts of laws. Sylvie doesn't know much about what happened to her parents, but her best guess is that they ended up in prison.

Sylvie, like most of the rescued cult children, didn't have much of anywhere to go. She went around in the foster care system for a while, but experienced difficulties due to being a metahuman. A lot of non-metahuman foster parents didn't want her, especially because her control of her powers was shaky. After a year of jumping around, she settled in a special childrens' home sponsored by a charity fund for metahuman kids. Her life was quiet until a man claiming to be a recruiter for a metahuman academy showed up at the childrens' home. The staff pointed to Sylvie as a potential recruit. Feeling like she had nothing to lose and dreading the utter boredom of the childrens' home, Sylvie agreed. And now, here she is.

Name: Leonard Bristle
Age: 19yrs
Personality: When one thinks of a hero, Leonard is a bit far from what many would assume. He has a remarkably low pain tolerance, and is known for being a bit skittish and cowardly, or at the very least shying away from confrontation. What he lacks in courage and boldness he more than makes up for with intellect and awareness. No detail is too small to be noticed and he does not believe in coincidences or irrelevancies. He is an expert at noticing patterns and sequences and seems far more comfortable around a computer than he does around people. What many assume is antisocial behavior however, is actually a shyness and fear of being around others as his ability is very dangerous.

Powers:
The Wendigo- Leonard was unfortunately born with a family trait long since thought gone. The Native American blood from his mothers side of the family seems to have carried this ability to him. In events of extreme duress or if Leonard himself takes lethal damage his adrenal gland will unleash a powerful Mutagenic chemical which will cause a mind numbing my painful transformation. Inspiring the myths of the wendigo this ability comes with similar aspects to it. His senses are amplified to predatory animal levels, his strength and speed grow to a level that outclasses even some other super humans, however the greatest change and perhaps the most dangerous is the addition of teeth claws and antlers which have been shown to tear steel. The creature while heavily resistant to damage and hard to hit will still take damage from significant attacks and if enough of it is done the creature will die and revert back to Leonard who can apparently only activate the transformation once in a twelve hour period. That said the wendigo currently seems to be mostly incapable of deep thought or critical thinking and acts on animalistic instinct instead, however he has recently shown that he can at least assert some form of control over the creature as evidenced by the events of his last β€œincident.”
View attachment 902656
Background: Born in Luftkin, Texas and surrounded on all sides by farms and forests one would almost expect Leonard to be a rugged country boy, but unfortunately for him a genetic trait long thought to be both gone and a curse was found in him. Coming from a family of no empowered individuals going back nearly five generations no one had any idea of how to help him growing up, at least he was lucky enough that he got a few years of being a normal kid. Yet it is vastly more fortunate that his first showing of his families feared trait occurred during summer break when he was only eight.

He was playing around with his friends and they had convinced him to take a walk with him into the forest trail which was relatively known for having lots of local wildlife. As the kids wandered they stumbled upon several wild boar who quickly displayed their irritation at the kids coming into their territory. As the boars gave chase the unathletic Leonard fell behind and his friends did not even notice. The boars managed to dig their tusks into Leonard’s thigh dropping him immediately where they promptly went to town on the boy aggressively.

His friends had just made it to the end of the trail when Leonard’s father approached having heard their screams but before he could ask what happened a horrifying cry filled the air followed by the sudden terrified squealing of the boars, and just as suddenly followed by silence. The father knew almost immediately what had occurred as his wife had long told him if her families ties to the Native American legend. He escorted the kids to his house before grabbing his .338 lapua hunting rifle and with a heavy heart he set out to find his son.

When the children went inside they told Leonard’s mother what had occurred and she paled before their eyes at the mention of her husband going after their son. Rather than leave the two Humans she loved the most to kill each other she took her own hunting bow and left to help save her husband. The sound of a gunshot followed by a loud scream brought her into the wooded area where she found her husband with his rifle cracked in half and his arm missing, she had barely arrived to the scene when she spotted her son fleeing the area. With a deep breath she planted an arrow in the back of his head, watching in awe as the beast shuddered and fell, his changing body pushing the arrow out and leaving her son unconscious on the ground.

When Leonard awoke he found himself at Vochertepp’s school, the panicked child spend his first year or two under nearly constant sedation as his fear and sorrow at being abandoned made him come to be known as one of the β€œhair trigger.” Cases. When he made it to age twelve he met another of these labor trigger” cases who informed him that thinking about happy memories helped them considerably. To which Leonard found the same was true for him, when he remembered his fondest memories he would be able to resist the stress transforming him. However he spent several more years trying with nearly no success to control his ability beyond learning he could trigger it himself by thinking of things that scare or anger him. However very recently some have begun to notice his personality shifting a bit in both forms. His human form seems to be growing a bit more backbone, whereas his Wendigo form has displayed a bit more patience and has even taken to fleeing rather than fighting, which while an improvement is still far from him being able to rejoin society, something he fears he will never be able to do.
ahg i gotta hit you again haha. i sort of have an issue with the power, less so the mechanics and more the frame of it. you'd have to be very clear that there is no such thing as a gene turning him into a wendigo - rather, it shifts his physiology, blasts his adrenal gland, induces an animal like psychosis that changes his structure and makes him animalistic. this can be what started the rumor of wendigos, but there would be no such thing as an actual wendigo gene. i don't love powers that come from mythos/fantasy because that is just not the vibe i have going, but i would accept it if it was very clear that it's a scientific change that has created folklore from a very far removed family blood line. nothing wrong with a beastly oc and you do have the right set up so far. i do sort of have trouble with that image just cause it feels a bit too mythical-y so a description would suit me better.
it might be a little weak rp wise since you only have an off or fully on option. i don't think he needs to be so athletically weak but if you want that, that's your call, he should maybe be able to tap into a bit of the adrenaline that gives him a partially shifted form, or at least, some of its strengths/senses so he doesn't have to be totally overloaded to have any powers.
also you may want to find a more culturally appropriate fc?

She had the hopes of showing her brothers how much she had improved, but she had a feeling she never will.
thanks so much for hearing me out on all the updates! you're good for the full cs!

KAITLYN

THORNE

it's the typical superhero origin story. the adopted kid gets incredible powers in order to save the day.

well... not quite.

for most of her early childhood, it was just kaitlyn, her mom, and her dad. they were your average suburban family- her mother was a teacher, her father was a lawyer, and kaitlyn was a well-mannered school girl. that was, until kaitlyn turned five, and met her new older brother- leo.

leo was like kaitlyn, in that he was quiet and didn't talk so much as he observed. he was soft-spoken, well-mannered, and acted more like a stranger than a sibling. it took several weeks to integrate him fully into the family routine, and even more for kaitlyn to coax him into opening up to her. eventually, though, they started sharing interests and hobbies that they were able to bond over, creating a stronger relationship between the two that only grew stronger as the years passed by. and one day, when leo was eleven and kaitlyn was eight, he showed her a secret he'd been keeping for the last three years- his powers.

kaitlyn was infatuated with leo's powers. the photokinetic would often create balls of light in his palms, reminding kaitlyn of small stars, even lighting up the ceiling of her room with dozens of them to make a miniature night sky. kaitlyn was never scared of him, or jealous- she loved him and his gift all the same.

as she grew older, kaitlyn's timid nature and unassuming demeanor made her the prime target of bullying. even when she would try to stand up for herself, her small frame made her no match for the more physical taunts she'd receive. her brother tended to stand up for her, despite her objections and assurances that she could 'handle things on her own'- though she was quietly thankful that he was so insistent on making sure she wouldn't be beaten down on.

it all came to a head when kaitlyn was in eighth grade. she had been cornered by a group of boys in an alleyway behind her school, and when leo showed up, things quickly became physical. one of the boys charged the two with a switchblade, forcing leo into using his powers to protect them. even with leo's powers, though, the pair were significantly outnumbered, and leo couldn't take that many people at once. kaitlyn can still remember all the bodies pressing in, the adrenaline pumping through her veins...

...and then nothing.

kaitlyn doesn't remember most of what happened. all she knows are from the accounts of leo and the boys that had attacked them- most of whom ended up in the hospital. fragments came here and there, but they were never clear or coherent enough to make a full picture. all kaitlyn knew was that she was a metahuman, too- and a dangerous one, at that. not long after the incident, two letters to vochertepp arrived, one for each sibling.

the two had spent most of the summer laboring over their decision. a part of kaitlyn knew how dangerous her power could be, and that she'd need to get it under control as soon as she could. the other part of her just wanted to forget about her abilities altogether. in the end, leo decided he would attend vochertepp, while kaitlyn would begin her freshmen year of high school at home.

it started off alright. kaitlyn's bullying had been few and far between, reduced to hurried whispers among students through the halls. she missed leo, but he'd write back often- though kaitlyn couldn't help but feel that something was... off. at first she'd assumed it was just some prep-school protocol, but it would be just the way he phrased a sentence, or the wording he used, that made it seem all off. as the school year progressed, so too did leo's letters, going from a couple every month, then one, eventually trickling to none by the time summer came around.

kaitlyn couldn't help but feel worried for her brother, and though she was no longer defenseless, she couldn't help but feel utterly alone throughout the last school year. so when another vochertepp letter was sent out, she accepted it without hesitation. though she wasn't too excited to attempt to use her powers, she felt she needed to do it. if not for her, then for her brother.

hey!! lots to love here. the background especially, gives me much to play with. unfortunately having some issue with the powers. love the animal flavoring, and the good ol defenseless body while projecting weakness is very liked my me. but there is no astral plane in this universe, no spiritual realm, etc. she can be astral projecting her soul into this physical plane, but that's it. i'm a little iffy on how this astral projection suddenly can damage people and is semi-corporeal, so i'd like to hear more about that works, but i would be open to it since her body is so vulnerable. overall, possible, but would need some heavy tweaking.

Name: Sylvie Angelique Destine
Age: 17
Personality: Sylvie is relentlessly good-natured while also being hopelessly awkward. She's shy in the sort of way where she is terrified of saying something wrong and coming off as weird. She's easily embarrassed and also embarrassed about how easily embarrassed she is. The root of this problem is a mix of insecurity, a lack of social interaction in her early life, and pride. Sometimes, she will run away from social interaction altogether.

These intermittent episodes of cheekiness betray her deep inner desire to express herself properly without being so concerned with impressing people or avoiding embarrassment. Maybe one day, she'll get to a point where she can be that bold all the time. But, for now, she's still a mixed bag of awkwardness, persistently good intentions, a fear of/hidden desire for intimacy, and overthinking.

- Moonlight/Starlight: The types of light that Sylvie absorbs at night are more suited for defensive use. Moonlight and starlight are softer and cooler when absorbed, meaning their blasts aren't as naturally powerful. However, the stability of this light makes it better for making shields and other constructs, allowing Sylvie to be more creative with her powers.
Strengths: Versatile depending on the light being used, potential for great bursts of power, can store light for long periods
Weaknesses: High skill ceiling, easy to lose control of, affected by emotion, dependent on access to light sources (if she has no light stored, that is)

And now, here she is.

this rocks. what an awesome power. it is however also the source of my only complaint. i love the variants in the light she can use, you're just lacking any weaknesses for a power that could have some really fun ones. right now, you have the standard all-metas-have-this-weakness set. i want to hear weaknesses specifically for each type of light she can use. do they all affect her body differently to store? sun fills up quicker but hurts if she holds it too long? moonlight makes her drowsy/mellow? artificial light numbs her? i think there's a lot you can do with such a fun power to limit in a way that you'll really enjoy rping.
great backstory too. a charity funded metahuman home would most definitely only exist around millennium, so you've placed her perfectly. props.

oo thank you! now that you've mentioned it, i actually love the idea of light-type-specific weaknesses and have added them to the power section! i've made it so that sunlight pains her, moonlight and starlight drain her energy, and artificial light nauseates her. let me know what you think and if there's any other changes you would like to see ^_^

Sorry I thought I had made that clear but if not it’s fine I’ll gladly move to the next idea.
Also he is way more than half white so he is actually culturally appropriate. Most Native American in the real world are very diluted in their linage. I myself am a mere 1/32nd as he was. but nonetheless it’s fine I’ll be using a new faceclaim on my new cs.

but no matter I’ll move on to the next idea as I don’t really want to tweek the whole power set too much but I do acknowledge that having to die to trigger it and not having full control could in fact be a big problem.

Name: Garth Leto

Age: 18yrs

Personality: Garth is a young man known for Being competitive and wanting to always put his best foot forward, yet he sometimes fails to do the latter as the former can get in the way. He is by no means a rude or cruel young man but he is not known for being overtly kind either. He seems to be caught at a crossroads currently, as he feels pressure from his family to become a hero and he certainly does want to. Yet he knows deep down they want him to take the mantle of The Olympian, while he wishes to carve out a name for himself.

Powers:
Olympian Might- a reoccurring ability in The Leto family that has popped up every so often for the past several thousand years, with the family legends its origins being traced back to the founding of Sparta which was believed to have come from the children of Heracles. The truth is unfortunately a tad bit more mundane. Garth and his predecessors Possess a unique Cellular structure where the membranes of his cells are fortified with Non ferrous Iron to a high enough degree that he is almost considered an iron based life form rather than a carbon one. As a result his body is incredibly durable and just as strong. Though his power seems rather stable the mutations have not stopped since puberty and his cells continue to harden and strengthen as time goes on. When It first manifested he had only just hit puberty and was hardly stronger that someone of his age should be. though currently he is capable of lifting upwards of a dozen tons, and his skin can even turn aside or flatten low caliber bullets with a good deal of pain being the only result, plus a few burn marks near the actual point of impact. his abilities are not without cost as his sense of touch is slowly but surely fading away, his diet has required he wolf down massive amounts of calories to prevent his body from eating itself to fuel his mutations, and sadly he cannot become drunk nor do many medications work for him. He is currently tackling a curriculum that will offer him creative ways to use his strength and durability.

Background: Born in greece as the son of a Japanese business man named Hideki Tsu and a Greek woman of the Leto family named Lana, Garths birth was not exactly celebrated by the Leto family. He was born out of wedlock and Hideki did not even stick around to meet him. He grew up with most of his cousins, aunts, and uncles seeming to hate him with but one exception, his Grandfather Garret Leto, Better Known as the Superhero Olympian. The old man was very kind to him and would even make sure that others did likewise when he was around. He had always told Garth that he reminded him of himself at his age. Garth would take this to heart and the vast majority of his childhood was spent playing heroes and villains with his friends to which he would literally always pretend to be Olympian.

As it Turned out Garret was actually correct, while it took him a long while as a late bloomer it seemed, Garth was apparently more like his grandfather than they had initially assumed. He inherited the Families odd Iron based Cells with the change coming with puberty. For the first few months things were good, really good in fact. He grew stronger everyday and was spending lots of time with his grandfather who was helping him to deal with the changes Such as not accidentally chucking his backpack through the Sheetrock wall, or not accidentally shattering his water glasses. It was actually entirely likely that he could’ve spent the rest of his teenage years training with his grandfather, but fate had other plans.

The Olympian was killed in the line of duty only three months after Garth began to manifest his abilities, worse still a huge misunderstanding had people thinking he was a dangerous individual after one of the high school jerks in his class broke his knuckles trying to punch Garth for bumping into him. His mother was sympathetic to her sons plight and brought him home to be homeschooled and get him out of the public school so he could mourn his grandfather’s death. She did acknowledge that she lacked the resources to deal with an emotionally unstable young man, who is wracked with grief and hormones, and could bench press a Ford. So she gave her boy three months to heal before she offered to get him into Vochertepp, he would mull it over for a little bit before agreeing and at Age 13 he would arrive at the school.

While his growth and development at the school has been rather steady in both academics and his abilities, it hasn’t been the fastest. However he does show promise, in his five years there he has earned many a school voucher and luckily accommodations were made for his Enhanced metabolism and he was given several tablets of dense caloric supplements and is allowed double portions for breakfast and lunch, with a triple portion for dinner. He tends to spend most of his free time in the gym areas playing whatever sport people will challenge him in, he Excels at a number of sports including Basketball, Baseball, Tennis, And surprisingly Dive and Water acrobatics the latter two being something he picked up to get close to a girl he liked before being spurned. He has actually earned many school vouchers with every single one of them being spent on food.

repost in a new reply for me please!

ah, you got me! i gotta finish my cs for my guy. i'll try to get that up asap, probably tomorrow.

hi, i think this skeleton is lacking a bit of detail for me to comment on. you certainly have an interesting power idea, but i'd like more detail on how it works. i'm also not exactly sure what the imprint is/how it works? is it like leaving a stamp on an object and then he can jump into it? a bit confused there. what does it do to his body to slip into different surfaces? does it take time to properly reform himself on our actual plane?
also, there's a lot of questions in the backstory too. human trafficking ring? is this separate from a metahuman trafficking ring? were his parents mutants? who is this hero Hellfire? lots of questions!
sorry for all the confusion; I've edited my cs skeleton with answers to your questions.

hey!! lots to love here. the background especially, gives me much to play with. unfortunately having some issue with the powers. love the animal flavoring, and the good ol defenseless body while projecting weakness is very liked my me. but there is no astral plane in this universe, no spiritual realm, etc. she can be astral projecting her soul into this physical plane, but that's it. i'm a little iffy on how this astral projection suddenly can damage people and is semi-corporeal, so i'd like to hear more about that works, but i would be open to it since her body is so vulnerable. overall, possible, but would need some heavy tweaking.
understandable! i'll leave her 'shifting' to the physical realm, then. as for the semi-corporeal abilities, i figured it would just be something to make it more 'spirit-like', but i can scratch that if you don't think it matches her power set. to ground the power set a bit more, would it be possible to say it's a physical projection of mental energy, rather than an astral projection? and rather than not taking damage, any damage taken by the projection wouldn't be transferred into her physical form?

hey everyone! i'll be of course posting this later in the final cs area, but just wanted to show it to those who are working on their full cs so they could see an example. this is my lad louis, he's going to be something of a gm-pc.
BASICS
Name: Louis Bauver-Caldwell
Nicknames:
Age: 17
Gender/Sexuality: Male/Heterosexual
DOB: September 19th
POB: Oregon, US

APPEARANCE
Deep set blue-green eyes seem to be Louis’ most striking feature, and it’s often hard to catch a glimpse of them behind his shaggy black hair and slouched posture. He is of average build at 5’11”, and fairly lithe at a glance. If anything, upon closer inspection, he seems more skin and bones, and the sharpness of his jaw and cheekbones give him the appearance of being a few years older than he actually is. He blames a high metabolism. He also has a rather concerning amount of scars, mostly on his arms, stomach and legs, punctures to jagged lines to bruises that never quite faded right, despite the regenerative implication of his powers.

This is where the normalcy of Louis’ appearance ends. He seems pale, deathly pale, and his skin and cheeks lack a certain amount of color and rosiness. His lips are a pale grey, as well as his tongue and mouth, and blushes seem to only darken the tone of his flesh, not highlight it. To most, he looks sickly and ghoulish, and he’s well aware of that fact.

PERSONA
Personality: Louis is something of a ticking time bomb, and the students at Vochertepp treat him as such. While he spends most of his time unnervingly quiet, tense and silent in the back of classes, many know that when pressed, he explodes. Louis holds a power that lashes out against his classmates, even if he doesn't mean it, and surrounded by a chorus of teachers who have labeled him a favorite to press until bad things happen, Louis is clearly someone being pushed to his limits. His silent nature should have left him a shadow in the back of class, but it seems hardly the case. Most avoid him just for fear of punishment by association.

When allowed to interact with his peers without the faculty looming over him, there is a shyness that not many expect from someone who can lash out at the school so quickly. He fumbles over words, struggles to maintain eye contact, and can take time to open up. Those that know him a bit better past the boy who is built to burst know that he is surprisingly gentle, thoughtful, and reserved. His best trait is the ability to see beauty in all things, and his touch upon the world is timid and kind, if allowed to be so. Louis has a fondness for all things nature, animals and all things earthly, and even at his core, though he has been beaten by the world, holds an innocence in his heart that is rare to see. He hates the eyes that follow him in the halls, and something about him is begging for help, while trying to brew a way out.

Drives: More than anything, Louis wants to go home. He’s driven by the desire for a normal life, a life where he gets to go back to his dad, be a person and not a power,
Fears: Losing himself to his powers, causing more harm than he already has. Never seeing his father again. Despite his powers being flooded with darkness, he is rather afraid of the dark.
Hobbies: Louis loves to listen to music and is often wearing headphones. He loves hikes, nature, and animals, and can usually be coaxed out of his shell by the promise of petting a cat. He and his father did woodworking together, and Louis likes to whittle away at pieces of wood he can find near the forest and make little statuettes.

HISTORY
Backstory: Louis is no stranger to the gloominess of life. His mother passed due to complications in childbirth, so he knows only what his father, Jason, told him. Jason wasn’t a mutant, about as run of the mill as they came, but he always seemed enamored with the memory of Louis’ mother. Whenever the young boy could pry any words about her from his mouth, it seemed like she had been on the run from a dark secret, something that haunted her, and something that finally broke her. According to his father, his mother wasn’t a mutant, but rather, came from quite a long line of them, something she had been desperate to get away from. Just when she’d buried it all, married a normal man, trying to have a normal child, she lost her life. And Louis received none of the normalcy she had yearned for so badly.

Despite the struggles that came with raising a metahuman child, Jason loved his little boy dearly. The two were inseparable, and young Louis had a surprisingly easy going personality, with a gentle temperament and a strange sense of compassion for his clearly struggling father. Louis recalls sobering up from a tantrum just to comfortingly pat his father’s shoulder and apologize for the damage he caused. At least, that’s how his dad tells the story.

His early memories are fond and filled with happiness. His powers, though prominent, were not very strong at first. The occasional temper tantrum would let loose the shadowy silhouette of a two year old around the house, but with a few loving words from his pops, Louis would calm down. The real issues started the moment Louis was exposed to school. Children were put off by the contrast of his concerning appearance and his overly gullible outlook. He didn’t know that he looked weird, or that his powers were scary. His dad had never made him feel alien. It was a painful slap in the face.

Jason had tried to raise Louis like there was nothing different about him as a metahuman, and it only made him more vulnerable to the teasing he endured at school. He became a lot shier, and as his powers grew, they also grew harder to control. When children taunted him, flashes of darkness and spurts of anger only made him more hated. Jason, busy trying to keep them afloat, could only cater do Louis’ darkening outlook so much. He loved his boy, but his love was not enough to protect Louis, nor make him understood. He was young, volatile, and wounded by those who were supposed to be like him. After a deeply disastrous incident in second grade, his father pulled him out of school.

They tried homeschooling for a while, but Louis was too young to be left alone, the extra income for caretakers just wasn’t there, and Jason was drowning. He couldn’t do it alone, but he wouldn’t hear otherwise, and Louis watched the cruel waves of the world swallow his father as he buried himself in work, trying to be every place at once, while also being there for his son. Then their saving grace came when he was eleven, just when his father was at the end of his ropes. The letter.

Louis was just as relieved to receive it as his father. Though Louis didn’t have any plans to become a hero, this was a gift from the heavens in Jason’s eyes. And Louis couldn’t deny that it seemed like the break they both needed; a place where Louis could learn to control his powers, a way for Jason to reestablish some funds, and then… everything would work out, right?

The two held that archaic letter in their hands like a golden ticket, and wondered what angel had dropped it on their heads. With a tearful goodbye, Louis shipped off to Vochertepp. He came to the school bright eyed and eager, thrilled for the chance to redeem himself in a place where surely, others would be like him. They were like him, of course, but it wasn’t enough to save Louis from the true veil of the school.

The faculty liked him, liked to prod at him. It was like they were looking at him with knowledge he didn’t have, a sickly sweet smile that forebode greater cruelties. Something about him was like giving a bone to those slobbering dogs, and Vochertepp’s camoflauge of kindness disappeared soon enough. Even those who love the school could see that the weight of it was crushing Louis, and teachers especially liked to pick on him. Punishment for things that did not warrant punishment, punishment that was too cruel for any action. Louis witnessed a lot of horrors, and as they became more and more apparent, he found his connection to the outside world dwindling. His father was kept complacent and in the dark, thousands of miles away, placing every Excellent Student certificate on the fridge and counting down the days until his son came home for a summer vacation that kept on getting further and further delayed.

The last time he saw his father was over three years ago. The pushing was breaking his resolve, and the ability to keep the dark beast inside him tame was thinning. He missed his home, he missed his dad, and he hated this school. Not many know how he did it, nor how he got close, but the only time the school ever went on lockdown was when they carted Louis back in through the front doors, kicking and twitching in his fully dark form. The rumors that swallow him seem to much outweigh the shrimpy figure that is Louis.

After that, Louis’ attendance seems to fizzle in and out as the school faculty take him to and fro, and he is more than anything a ghost walking the halls with a great reputation. The boy who got close, but not close enough.

SCHOOL PROFILE
Power: Dark Body
Glow Color: Dark Blackish Green #022601
Power Description: Louis knows little about his lineage, as all the metahumans in his family were on his mother’s side, and the information disappeared along with her. His powers are hard to name, so he thinks he may be a hybrid, and tentatively calls his ability Dark Body. Just underneath Louis’ skin is where Louis’ power rests, a layer of elastic darkness that has innate self healing properties. This is what gives him his ghostly pale appearance. While cutting his skin is easy, cutting past the layer of the dark body is almost like cutting into thick, gelatinous shadow, and is very hard to do, making Louis complex to injure. This dark body has a strange amount of conscience, and when Louis is angered, it is brought out of him further, enveloping his skin completely in darkness and making his movement and actions quicker, erratic, and less human, at times almost hovering eerily over the ground. When he touches people in this form, the darkness leaks into them, and if he holds contact long enough, they can become deranged and corrupted. Because this fully fledged form is so unstable, Louis usually only finds himself calling upon its help in times of dire need, or dire consequence.
Strengths: Passively, his ability gives him a great deal of resistance and regenerative healing. He’s not an insta healer, but it is hard to harm him, and the dark substance under his skin seems to work in tandem with his body to attempt to stitch him together quicker than normal. When in his fully dark form, Louis has enhanced speed, durability, and an offensive ability to corrupt those he touches.
Weaknesses: Louis’ dark form is a weakness in itself. It has a conscience of its own and guides him towards evil actions, which Louis has to actively try to resist. The darkness he contains wants to spread to others, and when it does, they are touched with an almost inhibiting mania that only wears off with time or separation from Louis. At the hands of the faculty of the school, his power has become less stable. The darkness breaks out of him more often, is more easily triggered, and the passive protective layer underneath his body has seemed to diminish in its viscosity.
Personal Effects: His father’s wood carving knife. A few beloved hoodies that he’s since grown out of but keeps around. Secretly, a stuffed animal named Bunny. (It’s a dalmatian.)

oo thank you! now that you've mentioned it, i actually love the idea of light-type-specific weaknesses and have added them to the power section! i've made it so that sunlight pains her, moonlight/starlight drain her energy, and artificial light nauseates her. let me know what you think and if there's any other changes you would like to see ^_^
looks good! you're free to move on to the full cs!

Sorry I thought I had made that clear but if not it’s fine I’ll gladly move to the next idea.
Also he is way more than half white so he is actually culturally appropriate. Most Native American in the real world are very diluted in their linage. I myself am a mere 1/32nd as he was. but nonetheless it’s fine I’ll be using a new faceclaim on my new cs.

but no matter I’ll move on to the next idea as I don’t really want to tweek the whole power set too much but I do acknowledge that having to die to trigger it and not having full control could in fact be a big problem.
i see, i just wanted to be sure that i made clear the parameters a "wendigo" power would work. understandable though, thanks for hearing me out!

He has actually earned many school vouchers with every single one of them being spent on food.

i actually like this a lot, an interesting take on super strength. i think to just give you a couple more weaknesses, i would emphasize the necessity to keep his diet rigid and scheduled so that he can use his power without eating away into his own body. he'd probably go unconscious rather quickly?
would he also not have a hard time with sports since he is basically so dense/heavy? does he have trouble staying afloat in water? haha

sorry for all the confusion; I've edited my cs skeleton with answers to your questions.

i think im going to have to say no to this concept-- even after revisions it lacks a bit of depth and weaknesses and i don't quite think where it stands will hold up well in the roleplay. i hope you get to use him elsewhere though!

understandable! i'll leave her 'shifting' to the physical realm, then. as for the semi-corporeal abilities, i figured it would just be something to make it more 'spirit-like', but i can scratch that if you don't think it matches her power set. to ground the power set a bit more, would it be possible to say it's a physical projection of mental energy, rather than an astral projection? and rather than not taking damage, any damage taken by the projection wouldn't be transferred into her physical form?

okay, physical projection of mental energy, i like that. i think that's a bit of a different power now. you could say her strong emotions have physical manifestations, the animal projections, and these can fight for her perhaps until the emotion subsides/becomes less volatile, her body is disturbed, etc. definitely something fun to play with!

For the wendigo thing. I get you were trying to work with me and I’m great full it’s just changing him in such a way would slightly diminish the hulk like vibe I was going for so no worries.

Now I actually didn’t think of that but yeah he would be considerably more dense and heavy than average, he would sink like a stone id imaging so swimming go may be off the table, I suppose he is strong enough to jump off the bottom but still no real swimming.

The Caloric weakness is the biggest one as it works on a sliding scale that’s hard to manage. So for example living up a Volkswagen would actually not be very strenuous as that would be below 10% of his current max of 14 tons. The more exertion the more calories and yes he can totally over exert himself and Fall out like a Paul blart cosplayer.

I did mention some high calorie supplements he carries with him and the school giving him special accommodations to allow for double portions on breakfast and lunch with triple portions for dinner, if you can think of additional accommodations I’m all ears as I am indeed looking for a way to make this more feasible.

I would say that he can probably handle around 2,800lbs before he feels more exhaustion than a normal person would by carrying a 50lb weight. But his 14 ton max would make him pass out in like two seconds as it would burn nearly 100,000 calories (about 50x the daily average.)

The best way I can summarize it is that his cellular membranes are really hard. His durability comes from that and is this always active and will only ever change as he grows older and they grow harder. His strength has a resting level which is still above normal but he can push well beyond that by rapidly burning calories.

i'm into it! paul blart cosplayer ahahaha. i think you have a good handle on this power, i could probably give you a few more fuller comments once you do the full sheet, which you're approved to go onto.

Added a little to Isla, let me know what you think

Name: Isla Alston
Age: 15

Personality: Once a bright and curious child, a life of exclusion and bullying had led Isla into who she is now -- a girl who doesn't seem to feel much of anything, and doesn't want to feel much at all. Isla usually only ever speaks in one word sentences, something she had picked up when she was younger and never really put down. If she adds two more words to her sentences and isn't turning the pages of her book as much while you're talking, then you've earned a place somewhere in her nonexistent friends list. As much as she tries to shove down any and all of her feelings and emotions, in situations where tensions are high, her more dominant feeling of fear often bubbles to the surface.

Powers: Tremor Creation/Manipulation: The bane of Isla's existence. Isla can cause a vibration that in turn causes a tremor, the intensity of it depending on her more negative emotions and just how badly she's feeling them. If she was feeling only a little bit nervous, it'd be a simple light shaking. If she was feeling pure, overwhelming fear on the other hand, the shaking would be more violent and if allowed to continue it wouldn't bode well for the surrounding area of the people around her. There are two ways to stop the tremor once it's begun -- either for Isla to feel calm, or for her to be unconscious. For a tremor to actually begin, her feet require contact with the ground/floor. Isla isn't immune to her tremors and is just as capable of being hurt by it as anyone else. Potentially, with some practice, Isla could take the vibrations within her tremors into her hands and manipulate them to use the tremor for her own use, such as making someone else the focus for her tremor, or a certain part of an area. This can be exhausting though and takes a lot out of her, and can only be done so much.

Fissure Creation: Isla can stomp her foot against the ground, splitting apart the surface of the ground and creating a fissure. Well, that's how it works, except the fissure isn't as big as it could be and is on the more small side, since Isla never really gives this much use as she prefers to avoid her powers if she can thus not practicing it. Unlike her tremors, her fissures are more receptive to her stoic, seemingly emotionless side -- allowing her to open up the ground as long as her mind is perfectly clear. However the ground begins to close up on it's own the more she allows other emotions to cloud her mind, or if her focus is elsewhere. In order to work, Isla's feet require contact with the ground, so it doesn't work indoors like her tremors could. Potentially, with practice, Isla could create deep and long fissures. Creating such deep and long fissures takes a lot of energy for her though, and can take a bit of time to actually do, taking longer to do the longer and deeper it is.

Appearance: When she was little, Isla had dark brown hair. But one day in fifth grade her hair had an immediate change to dark blue all on it's own and that's how it looked ever since. Isla has long, dark blue hair with blunt bangs that somewhat covers her eyebrows. Her eyes are a pale green. She wears an oversized red hoodie with a white t-shirt underneath, along with shorts and sneakers. Under her right eye is a mole.

Background: Isla was born to two non-metahuman parents. Isla being metahuman wasn't something either of them were aware of at first, until she started learning how to walk and would start to cry if she fell over, in which her eyes would start to glow and the house would start to shake a little. It was a shock to be sure, but nonetheless her parents still loved her daughter and doted on her constantly. However this didn't hold true for Isla's aunt, who was determined to keep her own child, Isla's cousin, away from Isla and treated her like she had something highly contagious. As for the rest of Isla's family, they treated her with kindness, but they also weren't shy about purposefully distancing themselves from her and were obviously wary, never knowing when her powers would activate. This affected Isla over time and slowly she talked less and less at family gatherings, standing off to the side and choosing to instead read her collection of books that her parents had gotten her. Things weren't any better at school. In elementary school, Isla's powers had acted up more in accordance with her increasing sadness at being excluded by her classmates and her anger at being called names by others. Her parents received a lot of complaints and phone calls then regarding any damage that had been done to the school by Isla's outbursts. It was during this time that Isla's parents tried teaching her ways of dealing with these feelings so her powers wouldn't act up on her. They tried teaching her breathing techniques, and they tried telling her to walk away from the jerks who taunted her, but none of those things could stop kids who were determined to be cruel and treated her more as the class animal that was fun to mess with rather than a person. One day, when the teacher had left the room, some kids tried forcing her into showing off her eye glow because it was "creepy", and Isla felt something in her receding. She'd accepted it, this was just how it was going to be forever. It didn't matter what she said or did, it didn't change anything. Suddenly, instead of an eye glow, the class got to witness her hair, from roots to ends, change to a dark blue color at a quick pace. Some were stunned, others laughed loudly at her, and Isla just grabbed a strand of her hair and blankly stared at the change. The only thing she could think was that..of course this would happen to her. From that day on, Isla was more of an expressionless shell, hardly reacting to anything any of her bullies did to her. A lot of people thought of this as Isla being "cured", but her parents were more worried for their child's wellbeing. Time passed, and Isla went through her middle school days without incident, aside from what she was already used to from her regular tormentors. It was only during her freshman year that problems arose again. Now that Isla was "cured" of her weirdness, there was other things to bully her for, and it seemed to turn into a competition to make her react -- to do anything at all. But on one particular day, something happened. On her way to the school's library, a few of Isla's tormentors cornered her. It seemed like the usual routine -- insult her, call her names -- Isla silently endured it, just staring back in response. But then they asked if Isla even felt pain. She must not, since Isla never did much of anything no matter what it was they did to her. Isla's mouth moved a bit, but no words came out. She felt someone grab her arms and she watched someone else open one of the nearby windows, the breeze hitting her face. They wanted to test that theory. Suddenly, something was wrenched open in Isla, and this uncontrollable fear flooded through her all at once. For the first time in so long, the power that had been lying in wait was back, and Isla felt that familiar shaking as well as the glowing in her eyes. She was scared, watching helplessly as the cracks started crawling up the walls due to the tremor. Her tormentors were scared too, screaming that she was a freak of nature as they started running, almost tripping over each other to get away from her. Now left alone, Isla crouched to her knees as she tried to stop what she had started, trying out those breathing techniques her parents had taught her all that time ago. To her surprise, it slowly worked it's magic, and she could only stare at what she had done when it was over. After that incident, Isla wasn't allowed back at school since she had "endangered the lives of students" and parents were now worried for the safety of their kids. Her own parents didn't know what to do, they couldn't teach Isla on their own, especially with having jobs of their own to go to. But when the letter came it was like their prayers had been answered. Her parents were ecstatic, this seemed like just the thing Isla needed. Isla herself was indifferent. This sounded hard to believe and almost too good to be true, but her parents really wanted her to go..well, it's not like things could get much worse for her at this point, surely..

hey everybody! just a quick reminder that wednesday, august 4th at the end of the day is the last day to submit skeleton cs'. after that, you have two days to send in your full sheet to me if you're approved to go on from the skelly.

just wanted to also say; with so many applicants, you have all probably figured i am not able to accept everyone. i am working on deciding a hard character limit, which will still be decently large since this is a big school roleplay and i will likely have at least two scenes running at most if not all times. it's probably going to be around or upwards of 15 people, but waiting to see the final number of applicants before i finalize that.

just keepin everyone in the loop!

This sounded hard to believe and almost too good to be true, but her parents really wanted her to go..well, it's not like things could get much worse for her at this point, surely..

my bad if i mislead you on the hair thing- i don't think it would ever change as quickly as right on the spot, more like she'd wake up and each day another chunk of her hair would be blue. it probably changes after sleeping and such, the most you could get in one night is like a streak. people with a slower process with this can take around months or even years, so that's the issue here, my bad.
i think you can go on to the full cs, i'll probably give a few more fuller comments on that. thanks for making the updates!

kaitlyn is a quiet sort of girl, and most would describe her as having her head constantly in the clouds. she tends to overthink things people say, and can often get stuck on parts of a conversation, staying on one topic while everyone's already moved on to something completely different. kaitlyn does have a voice, though, and a powerful one at that- though she doesn't speak often, when she does, she'll speak her mind, and she'll make sure everyone hears it. kaitlyn has a great work ethic, and whether it's an assignment for school or a promise to a friend, she makes sure that it's done.

kaitlyn never got jealous of leo's powers- she always just figured that it was his gift, and she needed to find her own. this has made her become somewhat of a jack-of-all-trades, with surface-level knowledge of coding, painting, cooking, photography, several instruments, and whatever else she's happened to pick up in her quest for something to define herself. since discovering her powers, though, she's become a lot less open to trying new things, and overall more nervous and reclusive. while she doesn't necessarily hate her powers, she wishes they would just disappear, and thinks that everything would've been easier if they had never shown up at all.

powers . ☽ .* :β˜†οΎŸ. ───
astral shifting - kaitlyn can turn her mental energy into physical projections of spirit-like creatures, which her conscious then inhabits, almost like astral shape-shifting. currently, she doesn't have any control over her shifts, projecting a creature leaving her body whenever she feels any strong emotions and taking an projected form that kaitlyn has no control over. from her perspective, this results in her blacking out and coming to whenever her energy rejoins her body with a gap in her memory in-between, while to onlookers, it would look as though kaitlyn had fainted, followed by a glowing blue wisp escaping her chest and taking the form of an animal.

strengths -
β˜†οΎŸany damage kaitlyn's projected form takes doesn't transfer over to herself when she takes back her mental energy, but it can make her exhausted when she wakes up.

weaknesses -
β˜†οΎŸwhen she projects her mental energy, kaitlyn's body goes into a sort of stasis, almost like a coma, leaving her completely defenseless to any outside forces that might try to harm her.
β˜†οΎŸkaitlyn is unable to currently control her projection when she shifts, leaving an uncontrolled, and often violent beast, and a gap in her memories when it eventually joins back with her physical self. she also cannot control what animal her projection shifts into, with the animal representing her current emotional state when she shifts, though it seems to have a preference for felines.
β˜†οΎŸkaitlyn's projected form must make physical contact with her body for it to rejoin with it.
β˜†οΎŸif kaitlyn's projection becomes too damaged, she must join back with her physical body.

it's the typical superhero origin story. the adopted kid gets incredible powers in order to save the day.

well... not quite.

for most of her early childhood, it was just kaitlyn, her mom, and her dad. they were your average suburban family- her mother was a teacher, her father was a lawyer, and kaitlyn was a well-mannered school girl. that was, until kaitlyn turned five, and met her new older brother- leo.

leo was like kaitlyn, in that he was quiet and didn't talk so much as he observed. he was soft-spoken, well-mannered, and acted more like a stranger than a sibling. it took several weeks to integrate him fully into the family routine, and even more for kaitlyn to coax him into opening up to her. eventually, though, they started sharing interests and hobbies that they were able to bond over, creating a stronger relationship between the two that only grew stronger as the years passed by. and one day, when leo was eleven and kaitlyn was eight, he showed her a secret he'd been keeping for the last three years- his powers.

kaitlyn was infatuated with leo's powers. the photokinetic would often create balls of light in his palms, reminding kaitlyn of small stars, even lighting up the ceiling of her room with dozens of them to make a miniature night sky. kaitlyn was never scared of him, or jealous- she loved him and his gift all the same.

as she grew older, kaitlyn's timid nature and unassuming demeanor made her the prime target of bullying. even when she would try to stand up for herself, her small frame made her no match for the more physical taunts she'd receive. her brother tended to stand up for her, despite her objections and assurances that she could 'handle things on her own'- though she was quietly thankful that he was so insistent on making sure she wouldn't be beaten down on.

it all came to a head when kaitlyn was in eighth grade. she had been cornered by a group of boys in an alleyway behind her school, and when leo showed up, things quickly became physical. one of the boys charged the two with a switchblade, forcing leo into using his powers to protect them. even with leo's powers, though, the pair were significantly outnumbered, and leo couldn't take that many people at once. kaitlyn can still remember all the bodies pressing in, the adrenaline pumping through her veins...

...and then nothing.

kaitlyn doesn't remember most of what happened. all she knows are from the accounts of leo and the boys that had attacked them- most of whom ended up in the hospital. fragments came here and there, but they were never clear or coherent enough to make a full picture. all kaitlyn knew was that she was a metahuman, too- and a dangerous one, at that. not long after the incident, two letters to vochertepp arrived, one for each sibling.

the two had spent most of the summer laboring over their decision. a part of kaitlyn knew how dangerous her power could be, and that she'd need to get it under control as soon as she could. the other part of her just wanted to forget about her abilities altogether. in the end, leo decided he would attend vochertepp, while kaitlyn would begin her freshmen year of high school at home.

it started off alright. kaitlyn's bullying had been few and far between, reduced to hurried whispers among students through the halls. she missed leo, but he'd write back often- though kaitlyn couldn't help but feel that something was... off. at first she'd assumed it was just some prep-school protocol, but it would be just the way he phrased a sentence, or the wording he used, that made it seem all off. as the school year progressed, so too did leo's letters, going from a couple every month, then one, eventually trickling to none by the time summer came around.

kaitlyn couldn't help but feel worried for her brother, and though she was no longer defenseless, she couldn't help but feel utterly alone throughout the last school year. so when another vochertepp letter was sent out, she accepted it without hesitation. though she wasn't too excited to attempt to use her powers, she felt she needed to do it. if not for her, then for her brother.

also another piece of info -- to those who have pm'd me full cs' with multiple glows: characters only have one singular glow color. there is no such thing as a mix, a glow color for each subset of power, etc. just clarifying.

approved for full cs! i'd like to see more elaboration in that one on the strengths, i think a write up on maybe her "default" animals would be cool (unless it's really a different one every time) and also clarify for me - she basically completely has no consciousness, it's just her emotions burst forth and start fighting? she doesn't see through the animal at all or know who she's attacking? how exactly does that work? but this is stuff you can do in the full cs or run by me here if you like. Name: Matthew Posada

Age: 20

Face Claim: Leo Hoyte-Egan

Personality: Matt is a man driven by guilt--A sense that he owes others. He finds it impossible to let others fail on their own. After all, he knows that if he'd been left to fail on his own, that's all he'd have done. His power set leaves superherodom out of the question and besides, watching what's going on with his dad would've soured that anyways. So he stays at the school as a TA, assisting the younger students with an almost nervous kindness, shepherding them as best he can with his own experiences as a guideline.

He learned early in his schooling to toe the line and does his best to imbue this skill in others--If you just keep your head down and do your work, don't stand out too much, you'll be fine. You'll probably even learn something. He's loyal and looks out for those he cares for, but a life in the school has warped what that looks like.

That doesn't mean he always follows his own advice. It's hard, goes against his better thinking, but sometimes... there are things you need to know. His acts of trying to figure out the causes of disappearances have so far been minor, each glance to a screen or innocuous enough question leaving his heart pounding in his throat and palms sweaty, but he's running out of time and less drastic options and he's keenly aware of it.

Powers: Corpse reanimation. Common factors that play a role in how smoothly a reanimation goes are size, familiarity with the creature both how it works internally and when just existing while alive, practice with the specific type of creature he's reanimating, how much he's practiced recently in general, his current well-being both physically and mentally, how clear his vision of what the corpse is meant to be doing... Things in that vein.

Though his power could probably grow a fair bit, he's well past the control issues that earned him his letter and is pretty decent with his abilities now, if he does say so himself. With the things he's really familiar with like mice and birds he can have a couple running at a time while also splitting his focus on another main task. Bigger, less familiar things like, say, a bear or something would take a lot more effort though it would still take a lot to get him to the point the creature could go rogue.

In the past, he struggled with his powers overwhelming him in the minutiae as well as his own emotions rising to the surface and clouding the connection between the part of him actively thinking and the part more focused on keeping him alive no matter the costs. The worst thing that can theoretically happen is a creature starts acting less like a puppet doing his bidding and more like a facsimile of whatever it was before it was a corpse based on his own internal image of said before. At that point, it's a threat to both himself and others and he's going to struggle to put it back down.

This would be really hard to make happen now, the last episode to that extreme happening early in his freshman year. We are talking full blown having an out-of-nowhere anxiety attack mid-whatever has made him decide to actually use his powers. If it's not out of nowhere, unless somehow distracted past the point of practicing the basic discipline trained into him around this, he'd shut it down before it could get out of hand.

Background: Matt was born in Denver, Colorado, the child of a rather secretive marriage between Darius Chandler aka then-struggling-now-famous superhero Doctor Revive and meta-in-hiding Catalina Posada, daughter of the infamous Puppeteer. They were drawn to each other from the moment they met, reveling in their differences. It didn't take them long to marry and, post-marriage, have their first child--Their only child.

They'd known each other's powers, but it's admittedly a jump from that to corpse reanimation and it scared them. Watching Matthew struggle with it, watching others be hurt by it, their son ostracized... On top of the strain from Doctor Revive's growing fame, it was too much. The marriage began unraveling right before Matt's eyes and even as they tried to tell him it wasn't because of him, he knew it kind of was.

And then the letter came. It wasn't like they just sent him there without his approval or like they didn't treat it like a serious thing when they discussed it. Not at all. Matthew was excited to go--To have a chance at friends, to learn to control his powers. And maybe if he got a handle on that, his parents would stay together, though he kept that last bit to himself.

Of course, in the end it didn't really shake out like that. His parents divorced. He had problems bonding with other students and the teachers were mean, their methods at first undeniably cruel. But even if the methods often left him feeling worse about himself and his powers, it's undeniable that he did learn to control them. He'd already decided to stay on, do his best to help others like him, give back to the school that had given him back some sense of control. But there was also still the disappearances. They unsettled him and added a second goal to the first: Find out what was happening to people, absolve the school that had give him so much of guilt.
