Experiences Whats making you angry today? Rp pet peeves

I really dislike those roleplayers that can't seem to forgive and forget. They hold grudges over people not following their rules and outright paint them as a bad guy, without even giving them a second chance. Also roleplayers that have no patience the ones that can't seem to wait for a reply, they bug you for a reply despite the fact you're not in the mood.

Soo..... this is fun.

I was running a nation on a sandbox-type forum. I have no "mod" powers as such on there but it's my territory to run. After months of no activity because most of us wanted to take a break, and then the whole community kind of fell to bits, a couple of very old players turned up and started playing there.

One of them is an asshat who I had a problem with from before and I was glad he left. He would harass other players OOC and their characters IC, do idiotic things like have his character "teleport" around the board (not with literal teleportation powers, just like ... would move from place to place as though everything he did took 0 time and post multiple places at once) and was generally an idiot.

So he's like "hey I'm back to wreck shit!" which obviously didn't go down well with me, because apparently I'm not fun. (In fact, I am fun most of the time, well you can be the judges of that XD, but I do get a little bit un-fun around people taking liberties and being asshats.)

Eventually the conversation got around to him asking me why I had a beef with him.

And he could not understand the difference between things HE did and things his CHARACTER did.

"Why didn't you like Bob doing this? It was historically accurate and in character for him," etc. etc. but for like multiple paragraphs of how all the stuff "Bob" did was actually fine. (Names changed to protect identities.)

No, moron, it's not your character, it's YOU. SMH. How can people not tell the difference between themselves and their fricking character? He also accused me of not liking him because his character fooled around with my character's sister. wtf.

If I had mod powers I'd boot his ass into the stratosphere. As it stands I just told him I didn't want to talk to him and if he wanted to RP to just do it, as long as he could restrain himself from "wrecking shit".

Today I'm kinda getting irritated by the constant derailing in the discussion threads.

Except the one about tea. I like that one. But in general can we keep on topic please, people?

Lately on here I have been irritated with people ghosting on RPs without a notif. I get that we are in a pandemic, RL happens, but when you don't reply to the RP for days even though it is visible you are on and doing something here/bumping your searchthread it comes out as rude. I also dislike it when users call me the bad guy for getting mad/thinking I did something wrong after it goes on for awhile too. If you have time to get on at least shoot me a "hey I am ok" at least, don't just ignore me.

When you have a great idea for an RP and post it in the interest checks and no one is responding despite it having tons of views. *cries in why don't people like my ideas*

I've been spending the last week crafting a role play idea yet I get the impression it's not going to work :(
You can't imagine how many RP's I have in my WIP folder, that I spent a lot of time on, then realized noone would ever in their life want to read all the way through.

Or I write up some epic scenario .. and realize ... so what do the characters do? Yay, we have a world? (facepalm).

That's the problem I have at the moment, I've got the setting nailed but there's always the question of what's actually going to happen.

LOL ... how about getting Likes for those RP ideas ... and even Interested!!! ... but no CS's

Hmm .. another Pet Peeve. You suggest a scientist engineer making some piece of tech ... and everyone cries, "That is probably way beyond anything we can do." Then you link them all the various components - some for sale - for a decade or more ...

Yeah but you do have to bear in mind what resources the character has available, like no one is going to making a nuclear bomb at a Primary school science fair.

Or like ... "it is deeper in the ocean than humans can go ..." Except that humans made it to the deepest part of the ocean in 1960.

Oh it was nothing like that ... more like a sea probe that would cost about $1200 and last 30 days, unless it was coated to last longer ... and it was biodegradable.

That does sound a bit revolutionary.

It's less to do with what's technically possible and more to do with what people consider plausible.

You can order sonogram probes 1.5 mm x 6 mm online. The motor is a very simple robot. The jellyfish can be simulated with various string length forms of PEG. And we started making plastic components out of jellyfish in Israel nearly a decade ago. Someone made a mechanical jellyfish over a decade at a major university. (I forget which one.)

But that's my point. Although it is possible to order and construct these things, most people still don't consider it plausible. It's like having two characters date only to realise they're long lost siblings. It's possible, it's probably happened before, but if you tried to pitch it as an idea people would say it's unbelievable (amongst other things).

Yeah things can get ridiculous if the setting calls for it. Overall it's a matter of what the GM thinks is compatible, I think. After all, you get sci fi rps that are completely wild regarding what tech most people have available to them. But other times you can have a modern rp where characters don't have cell phones even though it's really common in reality. I find it's best when everyone jives with what each character can do, but at the very least it should be setting appropriate, and that's all down to what the GM wants over what the players want. I think that's why it's important to have GMs, though I get the frustration of wanting to do something that you don't actually get to do, since rps are a lot of fun when you can go all out.

Today, or recently, I've been mad!!!

I hate it when people bug me for a response all the time. I'm not going to send quick replies within five minutes from the moment I wake up till I go to bed- I have a life outside of the internet (as I believe most people do) !!

And wanting unrealistic plots and having unrealistic OCs. And not following the plot or their own character's design. Shallow plots that revolve around meaningless, excessive sweet interaction, and zero development. I don't mind if you just want to play one gender, or have me play a M character to your F OC, just. If we've got a proper plot, let's follow the plot and not make them fall in love within a day or two.

Okay thank you for letting me vent my frustrations.

Honestly I've really gone off preset pairings at the moment. I think it's because if you take something like vampire x human or rich boy x poor girl the other person already has both characters in mind. Admittedly I've been guilty of this myself and disappointed when they put a character forward that's nothing like what I envisioned, but it's just annoying me at the moment as they're everywhere.

"The posting minimum is two times a week".

It's just too vauge for me. Do they mean once every third day, once on monday and once on sunday, or can I post twice one day and that'll fill out the quota for the week?

I think it probably refers to once every three/four days unless you both agree to only write weekends. That's how I always saw it anyways.
