Dodge first and see how that goes.
Roll as much Combat Pool as you want, and keep some to use when you attack.
You can also sacrifice 2 Combat Pool to activate your martial arts form and follow up by triggering any techniques that could apply.

Maybe uh don't pay money for a copy though. The dev may have produced some gorgeous lore (emphasis on the may here) but he's an abusive piece of shit.
Although obviously that doesn't apply if you're better at severing art from artist than I am.

Yep, "misconduct allegations" is right there as its own section. On the bright side, Failbetter apparently formally took the victims' side, so I can still enjoy his early work now that it's no longer in his hands.

Looking at it again, I expressed myself pretty shittily in my post. Here's what I meant: Patrjulf did act on turn 1 before everyone, but now that turn 2 has begun shouldn't he go after Dog? If not, he wouldn't act on turn 2 at all. Is that right?

Oof, that's a story with a lot of accusations and very little proof on both parts. Make sure you listen to both sides of it, before deciding on not supporting an artist's work anymore.
