[div class=container][div class=border][div class=name]ojore kante
[div class=role]head of abarra[/div] [div class=image][/div] [div class=textbox][div class=scroll]Ojore had every intention of leaving the Lucinius house, finding Will, and beating the hell out of him. Beating some sense into him, rather, since it seemed like the boy had lost his damn mind. The words that had come out of Will's mouth hadn't been sickeningly surprising, though still unwanted. What angered Ojore more than anything was how Will's actions were a complete slap in the face to him--the person who saved his ass years ago, somehow managing to convince Marcos to spare him his life. Will had been a relatively young vampire at the time and his track record spoke to how none of the other clans, and perhaps even some of the Abarra, wouldn't have objected to him being handed a death sentence. Ojore wouldn't have it though. Will was family to him by that point, and he did everything in his power to ensure that the kid made it to Europe safely without any Lucinius members playing sniper internationally to seek revenge for their clan. For him to show up and make a fool of Ojore like this, just for a bout of self-gratitude and a chuckle... it had Ojore seeing red, and that was probably an understatement. Respect went a long way with Ojore, and disrespect went even farther, albeit it a less pleasant direction. The act of disrespect angered Ojore enough, but it angered him even more that Will had put him in such an aggressive and enraged mood. It wasn't something that he was comfortable feeling unless he was actually going to kill someone, and in this case, he wasn't. Jack's ultimatum was one that Ojore wasn't taking lightly because he knew that the Lucinius male would come for Will, but Ojore wasn't going to let anyone kill one of his own without a fight. Somehow, Ojore managed to calm himself to a more human level by the time he got to The Black Veil. He had taken his time in getting there, made a few stops along the way to ensure he had restrained his emotions enough. When he got Himera's text though, he knew he had to do what needed to be done, and he headed to the lounge. He moved silently and smoothly as he weaved through people in the front of the establishment before entering the more secluded lounge in the back. He spotted William standing by the bar, and Himera and Catherine sitting nearby. He was ignorant to the conversation going on before he walked in, but he also didn't care what they were discussing. He was sure that Catherine was being kinder than Will deserved, and possibly Himera too. "After all I've done for you, you repay me by painting me as a fool in front of two other clans," Ojore said, his voice deep and booming, though relatively calm and stoic. He wasn't speaking angrily or with emotion, just plainly. "Is there any good reason why I shouldn't let Jack kill you, as he plans to do? You clearly have no respect for myself or the others-no worries about anyone else's safety and the damage you just did, so, tell me... why shouldn't we let them kill you?" He looked to Himera and Katherine then, "Can either of you think of a good reason for why his life should be spared?" William Shaw
-
William scoffed at Himera's words, "Those Lucinius mutts can call for my head all they want." William wasn't scared of anyone, or so he may make it seem, never mind some Lucinius clowns. Especially Jack, the vampire may be older and stronger but his stupid oaf nature and anger would lead to mistakes and even if he did happen to kill William, the ensuing chaos would be well worth it. A mere two weeks after the death of Marcos and Lucinius killing vampires without fair trial? Ha! The war would be amazing. As Catherine continued on, he couldn't help but laugh. That was the Catherine he knew, the jokes, even on him, never failed to make him laugh. "Hmm Catherine maybe you could give me some tips?" William looked to her with his eyebrows raised, "As I remember, you were quite good at it," a small smirk played on his lips. Although his words weren't exactly true, the two of them had never done anything, it was still fun to pick fun. Especially with others in the room. His eyes looked toward the drink, it was a deep brown, William lifted the glass to his mouth and sipped silently.

The drink went down his throat easily, he couldn't really tell what it was. Something modern no doubt, no matter - it would quench his thirst for a little while. Setting the glass down, William's ears pricked up. His vamp hearing caught something, a slight movement but it was too late. Ojore's voice rang out in his head and William stood up straight, nervous energy coursed through him, his eyes found Ojore. Will backed up only to remember the bar was to his back, that wasn't good. He should have been smart enough to keep his back to an exit. "Ojore! My good friend!" Will said with mock enthusiasm, "Come join me for a drink and we can talk this out like the civilised vampires we are," William waved his hands around slightly, a dazzling smile plastering his face. He picked up his drink once more to demonstrate. "Come, let us sit and talk. I'm sure you would like to know about my earlier performance and I will happily explain."

Isaiah Price
-
Isaiah sat in the board room with a thoughtful expression, his mind playing over the events that had transpired earlier at the meeting. He had stayed quiet throughout the meeting, it didn't feel like it was his place to speak, instead he watched intently - listening. The appearance of, what was his name? Walbert? Walugi? Something like that. But the appearance of the reckless Abarra was interesting, it piqued his interest greatly. Isaiah had never met this mysterious fellow but his appearance had obviously caused quite the stir, Isaiah still couldn't decide whether or not it was good thing or bad thing. Nevertheless, the Ventari clan would discuss it and come to a decision.

Isaiah listened as Zaire and Kamaria talked about it. In the back of his mind he could feel the hunger rising. No, push it back down. Lock it away. Isaiah did as he always did, just like how Nasir had taught him. It worked most of the time. Most of the time. Isaiah cleared his throat, he needed to take his mind of the hunger. "If I may," he started looking between the two older vampires, "I agree with Zaire. I do not want to be needlessly violent toward an inno-" he stopped and rearranged his words, "a mostly innocent vampire and still have the real killer out there," Isaiah stated, his voice was light and full of youth. He didn't command the same respect and authority from a booming voice like Kante or Zaire, in fact he would be surprised if anyone took his opinion seriously. Although Isaiah was intelligent and logical, a lot of Vampires would find him very...... not vampire like. He was openly against violence but was also known to be an out of control killer. Or at least that was his previous reputation, Isaiah had abstained from human blood for nearly fifty years now, preferring an animal blood diet.

[div class=container][div class=border][div class=name]ojore kante
[div class=role]head of abarra[/div] [div class=image][/div] [div class=textbox][div class=scroll]Ojore's expression remained stoic, his eyes following William with every slight movement that the male made. To think that he still wanted to hold onto this offensively chummy attitude had him momentarily considering why he was even asking for a reason that Will should be spared. The boy clearly couldn't take a single thing seriously. To not recognize the danger that he was putting the entire clan in was eye-opening. While Jack made it clear that he was coming for Will, who was to say that, even if Will left town, the Lucinius clan wouldn't decide to take out another Abarra member just to get even? Ojore knew that if the roles were reversed, and he had reason to suspect that Jack had killed Himera, for instance, even if Jack himself fled and couldn't be found, Ojore would feel inclined to get even by taking out Lex, or one of the others. In a way, doing something like that would hurt the offender and the entire clan more than killing the suspected culprit themselves. Not only would the clan lose an innocent member, but the true culprit who had fled would then have to live with that death, too, on their conscience. Will's demeanor was very Will-like, but it wasn't helping his case at all right now. As Ojore paused, allowing silence to blanket the space after Will's inappropriate response, he had to consider the entire clan's safety. Was offering Will over to Jack the right move? One that would save the lives of the others? It wasn't something that Ojore wanted to do, not by any means, but staring at Will now, he had to wonder if maybe the speculation was right. Maybe the man in front of him was truly just a cold-blooded killer. He was arrogant, callous, and clearly careless towards the safety and well-being of anyone but himself. He wanted to live a life of causing trouble just for a laugh, for his own benefit. Why was it Ojore's job to pick up the pieces of that, again and again, if he truly was nothing but evil? The Abarra clan had a reputation for being the least law-abiding of the clans, but they weren't evil. They would never hurt one another, within their own clan. They were a family. Staring at Will now with that ridiculous smirk plastered on his face, Ojore started to wonder if he really was a threat. If he didn't need to be protected any longer, and instead, needed to be what he was protecting the others from. "You think this is a joke?" he demanded, stepping towards Will. "Wipe that smile off of your face before I tear the flesh straight off your body," he said, his tone and volume steady, though the look in his eyes spoke to the darkened sensation brewing within. "You don't get to show up here acting important, like we give a damn about a single word that comes out of your mouth, while you're putting my clan... my people... my family, at risk." Ojore reached out, roughly shoving William back into the bar behind him. It wasn't hard enough to do any damage, and it wasn't intended to. He was using every fiber of his strength to stay cool and not decapitate Will with his bare hands right now, but damn, it was hard. Once he had decided to look at Will as the enemy, as the Jack trying to hurt his clan, violence seemed to be the only suitable answer. "Now I'm going to ask you again: Give me one god-damn reason why I shouldn't aid in putting you six feet under?" he said, his voice suddenly growing louder as he snatched the glass from William's hand and whipped it across the room, sending it shattering into a million pieces after hitting a wall. It was an outburst he would be angry with himself for having later; a slip from his cooler state that didn't need to have occurred. He couldn't help it, though. Not with that stupid smile looking back at him, taunting him and in Ojore's mind, begging him to escalate the situation even more. Catherine Streller

Overview Kimby Kimby
Mentioned: Physiicz Physiicz

William's apathetic attitude towards the Lucinius vampires death wish for him unnerved Catherine. It was within the realm of who she knew Will to be, to behave in a fearless and headstrong manner, but he had to know that this was a suicide wish. Just one look at Jack and Will spoke to how Jack would crush him in an instinct. It was like putting Lex up against Ojore. It just wasn't destined to end well for the younger vampire in both cases. Catherine wasn't very close with Jack but she had lived enough lives to know that vampires like him had the capacity to be lethal without a second thought. She was easily the biggest advocate for Will at this point, even if her taunting nature towards him didn't clearly speak to that, but even she thought that he was crazy to be reacting to the situation this way. How cruel would it be of him, to return after disappearing, only to apparently purposely allow himself to be killed? And for what--to maintain a bad guy front? It was the very thing that had made him seem so alluring when Cat had first met him, but she wished he would drop it for just a moment now. If not for his own sake, than for hers.

His remark about her being more skilled in that area had her lips curling upward into a smirk, but before she could shoot something back at him, Ojore arrived, and the expression fell fairly quickly from her face. She glanced at Himera instinctively, wondering if either of them needed to step in, despite having no desire to actually do so herself. However, as Will flamboyantly provoked Ojore and Ojore took the bait, Cat sprang to her feet. She knew that look in Ojore's eyes, and it spelled nothing but trouble. Maybe this was what Jack wanted all along--to drive them apart enough that they would kill each other before he even had to step in. It seemed like a potential for success at this point, if that was his plan.

It may not have been the smartest move on her part, but as a glass flew past her head, the shattering sound sending shivers down her spine, she knew that she had to do something. She couldn't let these two hurt each other. This wasn't supposed to happen this way! "Oh my god, please stop," she exclaimed, squeezing herself between the two men. She didn't think twice about putting herself in the line of fire, but that was mostly because she hoped that neither were seeing red enough to be blinded to her presence. With her back to Will, she pressed her hands against Ojore's chest and gently pushed him backwards, looking up at him in a nearly pleading manner. "Please, this isn't going to fix anything. You're better than this," she insisted to Ojore. Feeling so unsure about Will, she felt the other would be easier to appeal to for the moment. Plus, Cat was certain that he was the one interested in inflicting more damage than vice versa.

William Shaw
-
"Come on Ojore, you didn't have the balls for it a century ago!" Will goaded the older vampire. He wasn't exactly sure whether Ojore would kill or not. A century ago they had been friends, now it seemed like he was an enemy to Ojore. An enemy of his family, not their family. William was about to continue when Catherine stood between the two. He puffed out his chest and looked down at Catherine, maybe a little too far down. He brought his wandering eyes back up to Ojore. "I done you a favour out there Ojore," William said to him, his facial expression was blank, giving nothing away. "How do you think those idiots will look when you find the real killer?" William asked Ojore.

In truth, most if his plan was quite impulsive and right now he was making things up as he went along. Although it was quite great. The other two clans would be calling for William's head while Abarra could find the real killer, it would not only make the other two clans look stupid but it give Ojore the bid for power that he seemed so desperate to get. It would also leave Kamaria weakened if she was to go along with the plot to kill William and that would work in his favour. Oh how glorious would it be to rip the oddly shaped head right off that bitches head. Nonetheless William thought his plan would work or at least partly. Whether or not Ojore believed him was another story all together. Time would only tell.

His eyes were stuck to Ojore now, watching the other mans every move. This would be the make it or break it moment, William thought. Either his heart was about to part ways with his body in the literal sense or Ojore would calm down. The former would have no effect on William other than... well death really, but the latter would greatly improve his chances of survival.

location: Black Veil

At Cat's remarks of Jack, Himera was forced to turn her face away from the two in order to hide her reaction. Usually, she'd tell Cat everything and even go along with the tease such like tonight. But what no one else in Abarra knew was that Himera had been secretly hooking up with the Lucinius member since the start of summer. It was something that went against her very core, given her dislike for that clan. But ever since Jack started showing up at the Black Veil, something about his demeanor short-circuited all of her logic. This, of course, would be a great embarrassment for her if anyone found out, which is why she kept it on the down-low. She hasn't been able to see him recently since they were both busy in the chaos since Marcus' death. And she planned to keep it that way especially with his call to hunt for one of her own clanmates. But if he was serious about it, she wouldn't hesitate to talk him down personally. After all, he also had every reason to hide his happenings in the Black Veil as well.

Himera's face turned to see Ojore walk into the building. His figure and presence never failed to command the room. Her attention was turned to him as he began to speak. She tried not to wince at his harsh words to Will, though these words were more than deserving. Himera's eyes shifted at Ojore's question of whether Will should be spared or not. Though she tried not to stand in the way to his decision for the clan, this involved the life of another clan member, William of all people. It put her in an awkward position but joined Cat in trying to de-escalate the situation.

"Cat is right… we need to be more united in this." While Cat pushed back Ojore, Himera made sure to do the same with William, placing a hand on his chest and giving him a "Don't do anything stupid" look. There wasn't much she could do to break the tension between the two men, and with a ticking clock on when the Lucinius would go after Will, there wasn't the time for infighting.

Keeping a hand on Will, she quickly pulled out her phone and sent a text to Jack whose contact name she didn't save in case anyone went through her phone.
"We need to talk."

[div class=container][div class=border][div class=name]ojore kante
[div class=role]head of abarra[/div] [div class=image][/div] [div class=textbox][div class=scroll]Will was clearly quite dumber than Ojore remembered him to be, and he was now feeling like he had done too much for Will from the start. It wasn't that he 'didn't have the balls' to do this a century ago. It was that a century ago, he saw will as family. He saw Will as a clan member who had just gotten a bit out of control, but still deserved to be treated and protected like any other clan member. The issue now was that apparently, Will didn't have an ounce of appreciation nor respect for what Ojore had done to save his life over a century ago. Not only did he not appreciate it, but he seemed to think that it was a joke. This was the second time that Will had put the safety of the clan at risk. He wasn't just a wild vampire; he was a heartless one. He had no conscience, and clearly didn't mind that he was putting himself, Himera, Catherine, and the others at risk. And now he wanted to claim that he had done them a favor? Was he truly so small minded that he thought that any of the other vampires would care to investigate at all, when Will had set himself up to look like the perfect culprit of the crime? It was quite likely that whoever the killer was had killed Marcos, and would stop there. Maybe they had a personal vendetta against him, maybe they wanted a chance to seize the power that the elder held. Either way, Ojore didn't believe that there was a major threat lurking among them. Will had a brain the size of a pebble if he thought that the other vampires weren't breathing a sigh of relief right now that the investigation was that simple. Why should they waste time and energy searching for the real killer when one who easily fit the bill had just magically shown up around the time the crime had happened? Ojore didn't care to find the person who killed Marcos. He wasn't looking to be the hero, certainly not in exchange for the amount of stress Will was causing in this bizarre plan he was claiming to be conducting. This wasn't a game, and Will appeared to be too immature to grasp the severity of the situation. The truth was, that even if Ojore did somehow find the real killer, there was nothing to say that anyone would believe that Will still hadn't killed Marcos. If another vampire killed tomorrow, everyone would just as easily believe that that vampire killed whoever they killed, and that Will still killed Marcos. He was doing himself no favors in any action taken or word spoken, and yet he didn't seem to realize that. Nope, this was all just a game to him, where somehow, in his mind, he was the helpful hero no matter what he did. "You're done," he said, allowing Katherine's gentle pushing to guide him back a few steps. He could have easily tossed her to the side if he wanted to knock some sense into Will, but it wasn't worth it now. He was through. "You're not one of us anymore. You're stupider today than you were the day I met you, and that says a lot. I tolerated you putting our clan at risk before, but this time you're done. Consider yourself a lone wolf now, Shaw, because you aren't an Abarra. Abarras don't put their family's lives at stake like this. I'll contact the elders overseas as well to let them know that you aren't to be taken in there either. You wanted to play by your own rules, so congrats, your wish was answered. Just know now, though, that if you cross me or a member of my clan from this second moving forward, I will decapitate you with my bare hands, no questions asked." It wasn't acting as a united front as Himera had insisted upon, and it wasn't fixing this in a way that Catherine would likely be pleased with, but it was what needed to be done. Even if Ojore didn't think that Will had killed Marcos, it was the boy's cross to bare now. He didn't think that he needed help, so he wasn't going to receive it. "Now, get lost." Time Skip to: 9:00 PM - Saturday, October 31st

With each passing day, the air seemed to grow just a tad bit chillier, just as the leaves grew a half a shade darker in color. Today was Halloween, a holiday that traced back around 2,000 years. What had once been a religious festival designed to celebrate a day where the line between the living and the spiritual realm blurred was now just another commercialized holiday. Trick-or-treating, costume parties, and lots of candy are the norm, and while many adults take part in celebrating through their own costume parties and celebrations, Halloween falling on a Saturday makes celebrating it in adult ways all the more convenient. Any drinking holiday is big in New York City, but a Halloween on a Saturday definitely fought for one of the top spots. Bars and clubs will begin to fill up much earlier than they normally would, which mean more and more bad choices will likely come out of this day of fun--and if that's true for our human friends, you can consider it true times ten for our lovely vampires.

[div class=container][div class=border][div class=name]Dorothea & Jack
[div class=role]lucinius clan members[/div] [div class=image][/div] [div class=textbox][div class=scroll] Though Jack's 24 hour deadline to have Will decimated had come and gone, the lack of a body was only the result of a delay in plans. Jack was still going to right the wrongs that William had committed against his family; that went without question. The delay was Dory's doing, though Jack didn't blame her for it. She felt that it would be best if they discussed the decision to terminate William with the hierarchy of the clan on an international level. Known for being the most civil of vampires, the death penalty wasn't something that they viewed lightly. Marcos had never been a fan of it, as seen through the decision to allow William's life to be spared the first time. While Jack was set on killing Will regardless of what anyone else said, he went ahead and played along with the international meeting that was held in Toronto, merely out of respect for Marcos. It wasn't surprising to Jack, though, when after minimal discussion, the leaders of the other divisions of the clan agreed that putting an end to the menace that was William Shaw was the necessary move for the betterment of the community. He had proven time and time again that he was a danger to society, and after giving him a chance at redemption, he left them with no other choice. Jack was only just now arriving back to the Lucinius compound. It took less than an hour to travel between the two cities on foot given his speed, but he had stuck around in Toronto for a bit. He had been there many times before, but it was always nice to check out other cities. He had spent most of his life in cities, but he wasn't against a more rural life, like he had lived during the end of his human time. He wasn't sure where the clan would move after their time in New York expired. Immortality made it necessary to move around regularly, but a big city like New York did make it a bit easier, as it wasn't as hard to disappear and become someone new with so many strangers filling the bustling place. Marcos had always preferred the big cities and considering that Jack assumed Dorothea was taking over for him, he assumed that they would end up in another big city next, merely because she liked them as well. Toronto seemed like an interesting candidate, and after checking out the Lucinius compound there, he made a mental note to suggest it to Dory at some point. Though Jack was now back and his desire to terminate William validated by the international hierarchy of his clan, he wasn't planning on immediately killing the boy. He was back at the compound now, and though it was on his to-do list for tonight, likely, he wasn't full enough with fresh rage to feel the need to do it this very moment. In fact, it seemed more important to return to his clan to share the good news. "I'm back," he announced, finding Dory seated in the living room. He tossed his backpack onto one of the chairs haphazardly as he neared her, an accomplished smile on his face. Dorothea was quite comfortable, curled up on the couch with a book in one hand, and a cup of tea in the other. The Tibetan Lamb fur throw wasn't wrapped around her for warmth, as it wasn't something she needed anymore, but like the cup of tea in her hand, it was just there for the mood. She was as relaxed as one could be, occasionally glancing up from the pages of the book in her hand to peer out at the sparkling city skyline, before returning to the adventure in her hand. She knew what the outcome of the meeting was already, but she smiled at the expression on Jack's face, and pulled her legs closer to her a bit, to make room for him on the couch beside her. "Am I to assume all went well?" she pondered. "Yep," Jack answered, nodding with confidence. "They all agree; it's time for us to take out the trash once and for all." "Lovely," Dorothea responded gently, her tight-lipped smile growing just a smidge as she took a sip of the hot beverage in her hand. Though Lex wanted Marcos' killer dead just as much as the rest of them, he was almost relieved that Jack went out of town instead of doing it immediately. Meeting with the international council seemed like the diplomatic thing to do before acting hastily over something with potentially serious implications. While Lex expected that Ojore would retaliate after the killing, he wasn't necessarily worried about it, because it would in no way be justified. Ojore couldn't keep his own people controlled enough to prevent them from showing up to a serious meeting in the Lucinius household and making light of the late Lucinius leader's death, let alone prevent them from killing others. The Abarra leader (if he could even be called a leader at this point) didn't have a say in the matter, and any retaliation he acted upon would be viewed as its own independent act of violence. The Lucinius clan were not known to be violent, but they were known for being a strong clan, and Lex was certain that Jack alone could take care of Ojore if Ojore attempted to be so stupid.

With Jack gone, the compound had been fairly quiet and peaceful over the past few days--something that had surprised Alexandre. He had followed Dorothea's request and attempted to acclimate Josie to the human world on Friday, which had gone successfully in Lex's book. They had went out first early in the morning to walk around Central Park. Though it tended to be well populated midday, at six in the morning, there weren't more than a few early morning joggers and dog walkers passing them by as they strolled through. Later in the day, they walked around the block to pick up food from a pizzeria, though Lex's share went mostly uneaten, and in the evening they took a cab ride downtown, though they didn't get out and instead, Lex asked the driver to bring them back home, claiming he had forgotten something. He felt like all of the trips were important, and he was impressed to see that Josie was actually capable of being around humans for short periods of time. She had been a vampire for six months now, so she didn't have the unpredictability of someone turned two days ago, but she was still a new vampire. Lex knew that he should have started this training--easing her back into society--much sooner than now, but it had never seemed like a good time. Had Dory not reemed him for it on Thursday, Josie still wouldn't have stepped foot outside. It wasn't that Lex was scared that Josie would go wild, but more so, he was scared of what it would mean for him if that happened. He had already violated his clan's rules by turning Josie without consulting anyone and at least Jack was still against the idea of her being in their clan, so he knew that if she screwed up, he was going to pay for it.

When Dorothea purchased Josie a phone this morning, Lex was shocked. The argument that had ensued on Thursday between Josie and Jack had made it clear that Josie wasn't comfortable leaving her human self behind, so Lex wasn't sure why Dory was trusting her with something like that when she was still in a rebellious phase. At the same time, he trusted that Dory was smarter than he was, and he also wasn't against a situation where he could act like Josie owed him, as if he had some part in vouching for her to get a phone. While it would seem like a minor thing, the idea of a newly turned vampire who was still desperately clinging to her human life, having a device that could potentially allow her to reach out to the people who were told she was long gone, was dangerous. Enough blocks had been put into place on the device that Dorothea wasn't apparently worried, so Lex could only hope that this would help Josie adjust better to her new world.

Lex knew of the Halloween party that The Black Veil was hosting tonight, and had William not killed Marcos (or had he not set himself up to be the assumed killer), Lex would have attended. Though he didn't think of the Abarra to be civilized people, they knew how to throw a good party. Plus, he always enjoyed seeing Cat behind the bar. Though it sometimes irked him to see her flirting with the many other men who showed up just to be served by her, that was only really because he wanted her full attention on him when he was there--not that he minded her seeing or flirting with other men in general. They had slept together a few times, but they weren't dating or anything like that. It was just something to do for fun, and when it came to fun, Lex had to admit that that clan knew how to do it better than any of the others. Due to the current situation, showing up at The Black Veil didn't seem to be a good idea in any way, shape, or form, so tonight (for now at least), Lex was just chilling.

He made his way down to the living room to find Jack and Dorothea getting cozy on the couch. "Am I interrupting something?" he said, rolling his eyes only in partial jest as he sat down on a chair. Normally he wouldn't have bothered joining them since he didn't like third wheeling, but he was curious to hear what had happened in Toronto. Had Jack and Josie not had that falling out earlier in the week, he might have called her down too.

Catherine's mood had been pretty shot since Will's return and the subsequent fight between him and Ojore. Will ended up leaving before either of them could kill each other, but that didn't do any good in Catherine's mind, because the biggest issue they were facing was that Will was roaming around with a target on his back. While he could kill humans with ease, and new or inexperienced vampires, Will didn't stand a chance against Jack. Even outside of age and experience, since Jack wasn't an ancient vampire either, one look at Jack spoke to what kind of vampire he was. He was the protector of the Lucinius clan, similar to how Ojore filled that role for Abarra. Sure, the rest of the clan could fight and Will, especially, had the unpredictability working for him, but this was Jack they were talking about. It was Jack plus he had good enough reason to be Jack on rage. He believed that Will was responsible for the deaths of two of his clan members, so it only made sense that he would be even more of a killing machine now. Having Will roam around the city doing destructive things with Jack after him was not going to end well, plain and simple.

As conflicted as Catherine was over the whole thing, she couldn't live to see the inevitable happen. It was crazy to think that she thought things were rough with Will gone. NEver would she have thought that him returning would have made things more complicated. She had ignorant hope that one day, Marcos would just agree to allow Will to come back, and he would apologize to her for disappearing, and all would be well. They could steal some human babies and pretend they were theirs, get a cute little house... Okay, Catherine knew that part of the dream would need some convincing, but still! She had hoped that things would somehow end well, and that was what mattered. Well, Cat didn't know if any of it mattered now. Apparently Himera had stayed in contact with Will and somehow convinced Zaire to house Will in the Ventari compound where he would be safe from the Lucinius clan, but that agreement was supposed to end today. And on Halloween of all nights! Cat appreciated the holiday as she did with most, but it was spooky enough as it was without this happening at the same time.

In typical Catherine fashion though, she was opting to act like none of this was happening. Life was so much simpler living in a little bubble where nothing ever mattered or went wrong. She had spent the day stealing makeup at Sephora and using a stolen credit card to buy a new Hermes bag and other pretty things. Nope, nothing important mattered or existed in this world. She got her nails done, and tried on a million outfits before stealing the perfect corset from a store. Cat had almost always dressed up as a cat for Halloween, but she was switching things up this year. She was going to be a vampire! How perfect! She thought so, at least. The human depiction of vampires was so funny and extreme, but no one was going to be able to pull it off better than her, she thought.

Though she was supposed to start working at the bar at around seven, to help set up for the party that was starting around eight, she was running late... as she typically was. She arrived at around eight-forty-five and was surprised to see so many people already there. While Halloween was basically a day-long drinking event for humans in New York, Cat supposed that most people wouldn't start drinking at The Black Veil until maybe ten or eleven, since it took on a club/lounge vibe. Nonetheless, she was happy to see so many people there. Not only was it a good thing for Himera since it meant money, money, money, but Cat was willing to take any distraction she could get.

As she served drinks nearly back to back, she would occasionally take a moment to pause to answer another distraction she had gladly accepted today--texts from Josie, the new Lucinius vampire. Cat had almost immediately forgotten her existence with the whole Will thing coming up, but when she got the text from her this afternoon, she had once again become excited at the prospect of having a new vampire friend.

To: Josie
What are you and Lexi doing tonight?!:xFwhat::xFtongue::xFcool::xFsmile:🤩🤪😜🥰😘😸😹

She was curious as to what the Lucinius clan was up to, but only to the extent of Josie and Lex. She didn't want to know what Jack was doing... at all. Slipping her phone back under the bar, she poured five shots of Jameson, all while batting her eyes and making small talk with the college-aged boys who had ordered them. Young guys were rarely good tippers, but get them drunk enough with shots that you claim were "on the house" but put on their tab later when they were too drunk to realize, and would sometimes surprise you.

"Himera!" she called out excitedly over the music and general noise of the crowd. She hadn't seen Himera yet tonight, mostly because she had just only gotten here and had purposely slipped in quietly because of how late she was. "Tell me you love my contacts!" she insisted exuberantly. "And can you guess what I am?!"

It's only been a couple of days since the disastrous meeting that involved Will's expulsion from Abarra. And although he isn't part of the clan anymore, Himera still felt a part of her wanting to protect him as she has always done in the past. So with no other option, she contacted Zaire immediately after the meeting about giving Will some protection from the Lucinius until she could figure things out for him, Saturday at the latest. She agreed to owe him one big favor plus all the booze he wants for the next month if he could do this for her. She would hope that Zaire wouldn't take it as permission to drink the Black Veil dry on her dime. Cat was already doing a fine job at that most weeks.

Surprisingly, Will went along with the plan without any argument once he heard that the Ventari would be helping out. As for what would happen once the agreement with Zaire ended, Himera had originally asked Dion to stash him at his place but ended up getting a small apartment for Will to hide out in right outside of Abarra territory in the East Village. Just until the heat dies down or they convince Ojore to let Will back in the Abarra. Banishing him from the clan was the last thing Himera thought to do. She had already expressed displeasure with Ojore's decision but ended up not giving him any more grief about it once Zaire agreed to house Will temporarily.

With Will's situation mostly taken care of, Himera had other businesses to attend to. Such as the Black Veil's Halloween Bash which she had left most of the planning up to Dion. The only thing she managed to take care of was an exclusive "barred" list which included the likes of William, Jack, and Dorothea. Though it's not like Dory would ever show up at Himera's bar but tonight would have to be met with extra precaution.

----
Himera didn't have the time to pick out a new costume for the night so she settled on wearing something she could pull off as a costume. She ended up putting together a black ensemble which she could just claim as being a "witch". Satisfied, she headed out of the compound to the Black Veil to ready things for the night.
---
Himera was already hopping around the club making sure that the party was going smoothly. She swung by the bar to check on Cat who she already knew had come in late. Himera didn't mind it so much since she wasn't the only bartender available to work but she did have the charm to swindle guests to spend more. "Hello love~" Himera cooed as she approached the bar. She gave Cat a puzzling look on the costume choice. "Did you pull that out of Twilight or something?"

As was typical of her around this time of day, Josie lounged on the terrace, alternating between reading and people watching. As the day waned and the night began, she considered tracking back inside where it would be harder to feel like she was missing out on something. As she leaned against the glass barrier, her eyes focusing on the people stories below her, she recalled when she was a part of that same crowd just a year ago. Halloween wasn't so special that she really felt like she was missing out on anything. As was the case with most twenty-somethings, there was always a good excuse to go out and get drunk, and tonight wasn't an exception. Still, as she was still within the first year of immortality, it was also the first year of infinity. Everything felt like it was watermarked now. Given that this had happened in some facet over the past six months, the novelty of the change had worn off significantly. There was still a first Thanksgiving and a first Christmas and News Year for her to mope through, and there would be countless more to follow. As depressing a thought it was to finally realize just how repetitive life was when it wasn't on a timer, it did give her some solace because it made things like tonight feel less important; less like she was missing out on something.

When she heard the noise near her, at first she was confused due to the simple fact that she was still adjusting to not being socially cut off from the rest of the world. In most ways, she still was. It wasn't like she could get on social media or anything, which made this morning's gift difficult to digest. She wasn't sure if it was meant to be an olive branch, or just a reminder that she could use a device that connected her to the rest of the world while still being blocked from it. Since it was from Dory, she appreciated it more, and was able to see it more genuinely. Still, receiving it after being told that she was dead to everyone she knew and loved, and that unless she wanted them to face a similar fate she should consider her actions, made it harder to enjoy. She thought it would be fun to get back into something that used to be so normal for her, but now as she read Cat's text, she felt like she was trying to remember how to make this seem normal again. Josie thumbed the letters on her phone before deleting them and rewriting at least three times over. How was this ever fun? Had she always been so jaded or was this just the endless life thing sucking the joy out of everything? She didn't get to really speak to Cat much the other night, but she still felt most connected to her. Cat didn't seem as weird and ancient as the others, and now that Josie couldn't assimilate back into her old life like she wanted to, she was thinking that maybe Cat could be a good alternative. She seemed super...normal, and if there was one thing Josie really wanted (out of the attainable items that still remained), it was to feel normal.

hmmm i haven't heard and tbh, been too afraid to ask. wasn't sure how you guys took tonight lol. don't tell me vampires are really big trick or treaters 😬

To: Cat
whatever it is, sounds like you're doing something more exciting than the people watching i'm doing. unless you're watching some realllyyy interesting people lol

As soon as she pressed, she regretted it. "Dumbass," she grumbled, tossing her phone on the cushioned seat she sat on. So maybe she wasn't as out of the FOMO stage as she thought she was. Of course they don't do anything on the Halloween. It's probably stupid and offensive and that was her phone! More than she was willing to admit, she quickly reached for her phone. The resulting smile wasn't simply due to the contents of the message she was reading, but also because it had been a while since she'd giddily tapped at her phone. This felt normal. It was a new normal, but a normal none the less.

From: Cat
your people are so boring so i bet they’re doing nothing! come play with me and mine 🤩🤪😍🎃 !!! we’re having a halloween party at himera’s bar! i’m bartending!!!!

Leaving her only her book behind, she got up to join the crowds of people below that she'd been watching for so long. As she went inside, she didn't realize until then how much she actually was tired of watching the rest of the world from stories above. To be a part of the crowd again! Even though she was excited, she didn't want to make a big deal out of it because she was sure Lex or the others would turn it into a debate. She'd done fine yesterday, and it was the least they owed her after robbing her of every other sense of autonomy. Besides, this was a nice compromise. This felt like how things used to be, but it was with this new world. And who knew? Maybe this new world did Halloween better than her old one, but there was only one way to find out.

William's return to New York had shaken up the vampire scene considerably, but Zaire never would have imagined that the Ventari clan would somehow end up housing the suspected killer. The clan had come to terms with the idea that it would be best for them to remain involved, but in a neutral way. It was a very Ventari-like stance to take, as they tended to be the clan that played the middle ground, not looking to make enemies with anyone, but not looking to buddy up either. They weren't as cozy with human society as Lucinius was, but they weren't as anti-it as the Abarra clan was. In the current climate of the vampire world, playing the neutral coin seemed like the most intelligent move to make, so Zaire was glad that Kamaria was on board with it. They would justify their actions as being the one based on reason, when really it was far more calculated than that. The Lucinius and Abarra clans were in the midst of the start of a war, it seemed, and with them busy with all of that, it would allow the Ventari easy access to what was important: power. It wasn't going to be an easy rise to the top, but Zaire didn't doubt that they would make it there in time.

When Himera approached him about housing Will, Zaire was understandably quite wary of the idea. He didn't find it hard to believe that Will might have killed Marcos, and therefore, housing a potential killer in their complex sounded like a suicide mission. However, Zaire also knew that if they didn't take him in, he would be dead within hours. Jack was no joke and Zaire had seen the look in his eyes at the meeting--he wanted Will's head on a stick, and he was going to get it. Had Jack not seemed so set on it, Zaire would have suggested to Kamaria that they attempt to work with Lucinius and create a more civil answer to the problem. With a history of Lucinius blood on his hands though, it seemed disrespectful to even approach the Lucinius to ask them to mercy Will once again. While it would have been the ideal situation, Zaire knew that if Will had orchestrated the death of one of the Ventari members and then killed Kamaria, there would be no second thoughts regarding whether he needed to be killed or not. Zaire understood that--he got where the Lucinius clan was coming from. He still didn't quite understand why Ojore had kicked Will out of their clan, and even that had him feeling suspicious. Could Ojore and Himera be planting Will in the Ventari compound, just to tell Jack that that was where he was hiding out, and in turn, create a war between Ventari and Lucinius? He didn't think that the Abarra clan was smart enough to orchestrate such a plan though, and he did trust Himera to an extent. She seemed genuine in her request, as though she truly just wanted Will's life to be spared, and so with Kamaria's approval, they came to the decision that they would house Will until tonight, giving Abarra enough time to find some other solution for Will. Zaire supposed that they could send him overseas as they had done before, and just hope that the Lucinius clan on an international scale would show him more mercy than they would in New York. In truth, Zaire knew that Will was going to be killed wherever he ended up because of what he was being accused of. Killing a leader of a clan wasn't something to be taken lightly, not at all. Nonetheless, once he was out of their hair, Zaire wouldn't be too concerned.

Saturday night had come faster than Zaire expected. He had been planning on attending Himera's Halloween party regardless of the circumstances, but he felt especially compelled to drop in now given their situation. Kamaria had said that she would show her face at some point too, to speak to Ojore about the situation, which comforted Zaire a bit. It meant that he had less responsibility tonight and could maybe even enjoy himself for a little while. He didn't celebrate Halloween and didn't plan on dressing up, though he was sure he would be the odd one out. Everyone in modern times seemed to love an excuse to get drunk and act a fool, and being able to slap on some dumb costume seemed to enhance the level of debauchery. He headed to The Black Veil in normal attire and was met with a pretty crowded scene. Though he wasn't a big fan of crowds, looking at half dressed girls was a pleasure that he never grew tired of, not even after hundreds and hundreds of years. While Halloween brought out lots of the sloppy drunks, it also brought out the girls who needed an excuse to walk around in public in what might as well have just been their underwear, and Zaire couldn't complain about that part.

He headed to the bar, finding an open space and nodding to Himera and Catherine who stood nearby. "Looks like you'll be making some good dough tonight," he commented to Himera in reference to the money he was sure the crowd would bring in. It was still early which made the point all the more true. He did want to ask her about what her plan for Will was, but he opted to start things off on a more casual note. Again, he was hopeful that Kamaria was going to deal with it with Ojore, but he also at least wanted a fair share of alcohol in him before hearing that there was no plan, if that was the case.

[div class=role]head of abarra[/div] [div class=image][/div] [div class=textbox][div class=scroll]Ojore's behavior over the past couple of days probably made him seem cold and heartless. Kicking Will out of the clan was a major move to make, and perhaps the enraged state he had been in wasn't the best one to be making big decisions in, but even now, it still seemed like the right choice. As a minority species on the planet, it made sense that vampires clustered together in various clans since it was difficult to blend into human civilization alone, without growing lonely. Though Ojore saw vampires as being highly civilized and sophisticated creatures with far more self-control than their human counterparts gave them credit for in folklore, he did agree that they were different enough that they couldn't knowingly exist in harmony together. If humans knew that vampires were real, they would be crucified, and he didn't believe that vampires could form close, intimate bonds with humans without them eventually finding out. It was one thing to exist alongside them for a few hours a day, but to fully befriend them was a different story. Therefore, the formation of clans had always made sense. It gave vampires companionship and support. There were some vampires across the globe that chose the lone wolf route or were forced into it after being banned from their clans. While they did exist, they typically had a reputation, as a whole, as being more dangerous and rogue than your average vampire. They were the ones that you often had to be on the lookout for, and the New York trio clan often had to run stray, rogue vampires out of New York to protect their territory. Ojore didn't think that William was meant for that lone wolf life, nor did he think that he would survive it with a target pinned to his back, but he wasn't the one who made that choice. Will was. While the Abarra clan was the freest of them all, the one that ignored rules and didn't mind chaos, they were still a clan. They had rules and expectations, even if they only existed for the good of the clan, and not the good of the vampire world as a whole. Will had made it clear that he wasn't willing to respect the way that a clan functioned; how it worked in the interest of all clan members, and not just him. He hadn't showed an ounce of repentance or even recognition of the dangerous and vulnerable position he had put the entire clan in, and because of that, the only option was to remove him from the clan. Did Ojore still care about him? Was he secretly relieved when Himera had convinced Zaire into getting Kamaria to house him for a couple days? Maybe. He wouldn't say so out loud, but maybe. However, he reassured himself that this wasn't on him anymore. This was on Will. He was a grown man and if he was capable of getting himself into trouble, he was either: capable of fixing it, or not, and therefore deserved whatever came to him. The world didn't revolve around Will and his thrills, and it seemed to Ojore that he was going to have to learn that the hard way this time. He was surprised that Jack hadn't come to hunt him down and wondered whether the Lucinius clan knew where Will was secretly being hidden. Perhaps Kamaria had tipped them off, and once they kicked him out of their compound tonight, Jack would finish him off. It made Ojore anxious to think about, and the leader in him wanted to come up with a plan, but he forced himself to try and stop thinking about it. What he had to worry about was what would happen if Jack tried to storm into The Black Veil tonight looking for Will. He would protect his people with everything he had, and that meant that he found himself at The Black Veil, even if he wasn't in a partying mood. He stood inside near the front of the establishment, leaning casually against the wall and sipping a drink in his hand. Tequila wasn't even remotely as satisfying as the A- blood he had consumed fresh from its host earlier that morning, but it would do for now. It would take bottles of it straight to actually have any sort of affect on him in terms of intoxication, but he was really only sipping it to blend in, not to get a buzz. His eyes remained trained on the entrance, watching as people streamed in every few minutes. He nodded to Zaire as he walked in, though he didn't move to greet him any further than that. He wasn't a big fan of Zaire's. He seemed like a tool, but he wasn't a vampire that Ojore was worried about seeing tonight, so it didn't warrant expelling energy. Outfit: Halloween Costume

Catherine scoffed at Himera's reference to her costume. "Twilight" definitely was not what she was going for. Kristen Stewart was a weirdo as far as Catherine was concerned, and considering how important pop culture was to Catherine throughout the times, she considered her opinion on such matters to be professional. Catherine had been removed from human life for long enough that she no longer felt even remotely similar to the other species in terms of who she was as a being. Feeling so removed did allow her to be fascinated by them, however. Other vampires would likely find the interest to be shallow and juvenile, because-- what were humans compared to them? Still, Catherine had always liked human culture and modern human culture was even more intriguing. She loved watching movies and television shows and copying human mannerisms. One of her absolute favorite pastimes was going out to a store, or Central Park, or even just while walking down the street, and pretending to talk on the phone to someone. She would sometimes pretend to be talking to a family member: a sister, a brother, her parents, her child... and other times, friends. She would have pretend arguments, pretend plan-making, pretend everyday conversations. In the big, loud city of New York, passerbys weren't paying her any attention, but she still got some sort of kick out of it, as if she was tricking people who weren't even listening into believing that what she was saying was part of her real life.

There were times when she sometimes wanted those pretend scenarios she created in her head and acted out to be real. She wondered what it would be like to have a boyfriend, to get married and grow old with someone. She went through phases where she really wanted to have children; little people who looked like her and spoke like her and most importantly, needed her. Luckily for everyone, Catherine wasn't so emotionally tied to those dreams that she ever pursued them for more than a couple days. Her attention was fleeting and she would move on to other things sooner than later. Besides, she didn't mind her life as a vampire. She kept it light and easy. If any of them were close to being as cheesy and unbelievable as the Twilight vampires, it was probably Cat, though she would adamantly deny that and take offense to it.

"Really, Himera?! What Twilight vampire looks like this? Those ugly trolls have nothing on me!" she retorted, though she spoke lightly as she flipped her hair. She meticulously worked on preparing an Old Fashioned, though her eyes remained focused on Himera, as cocktail mixing was of second nature to her by now. "But oooooh, you know what?" she asked rhetorically. "You are totally giving me fortune teller vibes!"

The man that Catherine handed the drink to spoke up then, his eyes glassier than they should have been given how the night was still young. "Hell yeah, you are!" he called out, looking at Himera the way a dog would eye a piece of meat. "So, do you see me in your future tonight?" he asked, leaning forward on the bar as he took a larger-than-appropriate sip of the cocktail. Catherine scrunched up her nose in disgust. The man had been flirting with her all night too, and though the $20 tip he left with each drink was enticing, money didn't hold much value to her since she found a way to get the things she wanted whether she had the money for it or not. "Gross," she commented pointedly as she eyed the man, though she turned her attention to her phone when Josie answered her. She nearly squealed in joy at the girl's agreement to come, and she immediately sent her the address. She opted against saying anything to Himera about the invite. She knew that if Ojore found out, he would be a complete drama queen over her inviting a Lucinius member here with everything going on with Jack and Will and all.

Zaire had showed up as she finished sending off the text, and Catherine instinctively poured him his usual drink without even bothering to ask what he wanted. "What are you supposed to be?" she asked, her head tilting in mild confusion as she tried to make out Zaire's average-looking attire.

There were rarely times where Kamaria would come to regret the decisions that she’d made in her life. She prided herself on her intuition and ability to make well thought out plans. She knew that housing William was only for the betterment of her clan, that playing both sides would make securing power all the easier. However, that didn’t mean that she had to like it. Kamaria was cautious of the younger vampire and for a good reason. She knew that he still held a grudge against her even despite the years passed. But despite their past Kamaria was more focused on the fact that she was housing a potential killer. Of course she didn’t think he was bold enough to attack in her home, where he was surrounded by Ventari clan members. It was the fact that he was wanted by Jack and Kamaria had no intentions of having a war started between Ventari and Lucinius. She had agreed to let him stay for two nights and now it was time for him to go.

Kamaria felt someone place a hand on her shoulder, effectively pulling her from her thoughts. She turned her attention to Nasir, the two stared at each other silently for a few moments as if talking without the need for words. Eventually Kamaria smiled and placed a hand over his. “I am fine, just lost in thought.” She chuckled. “Tonight you should focus on enjoying yourself while I have a chat with Kante. Perhaps find a source of entertainment, with how you look it should be easy.”

Seeing as she was never one to pass up an opportunity to dress up Kamaria had gotten costumes made for Nasir and herself. And how fitting they were. Kamaria had decided to dress up as Queen Akasha, she admired the fictional vampire queen and her style was right up Kamaria’s alley. Nasir had agreed to dress up as her consort Lestat de Lioncourt. The two of them made quite the pair. With them were a few other members who had decided to dress up as well and a desire to enjoy themselves for the night.

Upon arriving Kamaria let Nasir help her get out of the car and together they walked into Abarra territory. As expected the party was in full swing and her members didn’t hesitate to join in, though Nasir seemed a little more hesitant. Kamaria scanned the crowd, looking around for the leader.

[div class=container][div class=border][div class=name]ojore kante
[div class=role]head of abarra[/div] [div class=image][/div] [div class=textbox][div class=scroll]Ojore's eyes were honed in on the entryway in a hawk-like manner, as if he was waiting for the right moment to spring on his prey. He wasn't waiting to hunt someone down though; if anything, he was waiting to hunt down someone attempting to hunt him and his people down. He didn't know that Jack had left town for the weekend, and so he had been in this uptight, over the top protective mode since Thursday. He would be damned if Jack and the Lucinius clan caught him off guard, and he would be dead before he let one of them touch his people. Whether or not he was truly excluding Will from the "his people" group was hard to say. While he did believe he had made the right choice by tossing him out to be on his own, it didn't mean that he wanted him to die, especially not at the hands of the Lucinius clan. Either way, he had been certain that Jack would show up to their compound or to The Black Veil in search of Will, and when he couldn't find him, Ojore surmised that it was possible that he would take it out on another member of the clan instead. Catherine would probably be the easiest target just in terms of her brainless nature. While Cat was more feisty than Ojore gave her credit for, she didn't think anything through enough to a point where he could give it credit for being useful. She would be the type to nestle her head right into the hole in the guillotine if someone told her it was a new variation on a massage table. If Jack managed to get his hands on her or anyone in their clan, for that matter, the war that would result from it would be bigger than anything Jack could have fathomed. Ojore wouldn't rest until he wiped out that entire clan if it came to that. By now, Ojore had almost wished that Jack had come within that 24 hour window that he threatened, because the suspense of it was what was keeping him on edge more than anything else now. He didn't know whether Jack was purposely keeping them on edge for that reason, or whether their clan was plotting something, and he didn't know which of those were worse. Since Zaire had come in a few minutes before, he wasn't all that surprised when the rest of the Ventari clan showed up. He watched them from afar as they trickled in, slowly dispersing into the crowd. Kamaria lingered behind them, her body language suggesting that she was looking for someone. He knew that it was probably himself, and he knew what she probably wanted to speak about. Though he wasn't excited over that part of it, her compelling appearance had him, as always, gravitating towards her. "Damn, did your people finally tell you about that 'Akasha' nickname they had going for you for a while? Who would've thought you'd take it this lightly...
