Title: Standing Forlorn - A Ravenloft Adventure
Game: 5E Discord
Player Count: 4-6 Depending on interest
Important Note: I don't pick on a first come first serve basis, so don't worry if you reply 3 minutes before the end of the ad.

Premise:

Knock-knock-knock rang out all through the house,
A voice called out "It's Dad at the door."
The children kept hands over their mouths,
Because Dad had died the day before.

And where was Mum at this scary time?
Nowhere in the house to be found.
Not in the pantry or out with the swine
But in the garden, screaming deep underground.

Forlorn is a land broken by time where the dead rise restlessly from their graves to stalk the woods and the empty villages, vicious creatures seek out anything still living to devour it and even the trees are twisted and warped with hate and grief. It is a place where you can repeat the same problems, time and time again in an inescapable loop of torment. It is a nightmare wrought into flesh and soil and stone and it all stems from Castle Tristenoira, the pain and suffering and temporal chaos bleeding from its walls into the area around it. People say that there is an evil spirit, more ancient that even the land around it, that is trapped within the castle and its malice and loathing are what is twisting everything. Anyone who is still alive and uncorrupted by the vile taint spilling our across the land is in fearful hiding both for what the future will bring, or what the past could be changed. Will they survive tomorrow? Will they ever have existed at all? All that really matters is you are trapped here as well, not just now or in the future but in the past. You have always been trapped here and you always will be. Welcome to Forlorn, it is a nightmare made real and its time has come.

House Rules/Game Style: [WARNING] This game is a Ravenloft game, it will feature frequent horror elements and is a lot darker than the majority of D&D games. It will deal with themes of loss, madness, pain and trauma. Character death is a distinct possibility. So please be aware. Long and Short rests will be altered for this game, with short rests taking the length of a normal long rest. That being said I like to think I'm a relaxed DM, mechanics wise, and I tend to enjoy a balance of storytelling and combat. The game will start with you being drawn into the domain by the Mists and so you do not have to have knowledge of Ravenloft prior to this game. I will be using the Bonus Action to take potions rule.

Character Creation: This is going to be a high level T4 game. We will be starting at level 15 and looking to progress through to level 20. All my usual character creation stuff here will apply. Leveling up will be done on a milestone basis, health can be rolled for or taken as average. For stats you can roll twice and keep whichever set you want, rerolls are allowed for any sets under 70. All published material from WotC is acceptable but if there is any homebrew that you would like to use then it can be discussed. I enjoy people making interesting characters that they like playing and I do whatever I can to facilitate that. As part of your backstory I would like you to think of at least one heroic deed that you have achieved.

Other Stuff: Whilst I seem to be always on the server at whatever hour, I am actually GMT and sometimes my posting can reflect that. At the moment I am not working due to quarantine but I may start working from home soon and if I do then I will work split weekly shifts (one week 4.30 pm finish, one week 9pm finish) so stuff might change a bit week on week. My posting speed as a DM varies with my health but you can expect a fairly relaxed game with occasional bursts of energy.

Feel free to hit me up on Discord if you have any questions, I'm usually around.

I'm a simple man. I see a Ravenloft game run by Rob, I sign up.

Time isn't real anyway, so I suppose I can afford to sell my soul to this game... probably, anyway. Oh well.

A high level game? You convinced me. I love ravenloft and this setting sounds fantastic. Hope you'll allow, if I am picked, to be a sorcadin cuz that is my goal in life. CANT WAIT TO JAM SON!

I think I've been waiting for this game for a few months now, and it sounds as amazing as I thought it would be. I'll always put my name down for a Ravenloft game

This sounds really interesting to me :)) (If you don't pick me as a player, can I be a spectator please?)

You know if I don't play in this I'm still going to lurk since you've been praising this module since I can remember.

Wowsers. I've been lurking for a game like this. High level, grueling mechanics and with extra spooky flavour. Definitely throwing my name in for consideration!
