Although they spent a major part of their life growing up in the southern water tribe at the age of 11 their father grew very homesick and their mother agreed to leave her home and live with him in republic city where they would finish raising their children together. During the next 5 years they raised their children they often would travel back and forth from Republic city and their true home in the south. In the last year during the civil unrest of republic city their family had already been about to head back for a visit to the Southern water tribe when The Equalists began to kill benders and innocent people alike. Lakota and her siblings desperately tried to keep their family safe with their bending but their fair and firm father was killed while trying to protect their soft spoken mother and Lake was also killed while trying to protect Lakota and Lake from Lightning. The rest of their family would have been killed if it were not for Lakotas quick thinking. They hid in the factories at first but were soon discovered there so they had no choice but to run into the deepest parts of the slums. Since her father and sister were killed all of her being has been concentrated on becoming faster, stronger, and smarter than who she’s up against. She will not rest until the Equalists are torn down and she doesn’t care what methods she needs to deploy in order to do so.

Bio: Loki was born in the southern water tribe along with his family. Lakota is the oldest and Loki is her twin, their little sister Lake was only one year under them. Although they spent a major part of their life growing up in the southern water tribe their father grew very homesick and decided to move them to his home of Republic City. During the next 5 years they kinda bounced between their water nation and republic city. During the civil unrest of republic city their family had already been about to head back for a visit to the Southern water tribe when The Equalists began to kill benders and innocent people alike. Loki and his siblings desperately tried to keep their family safe with their bending but their fair and firm father was killed while trying to protect their soft spoken mother and Lake was also killed while trying to protect Lakota and Loki from Lightning. The rest of their family would have been killed if it were not for Lakotas quick thinking as their mother and Loki had gone into psychological shock. They hid in the factories at first but were soon discovered there so they had no choice but to run into the deepest parts of the slums. Since their father and sister were killed all of Lakota's being has been concentrated on becoming faster, stronger, and smarter than who she’s up against but Loki is only going along with her because her kind personality had changed and he feels she needs more protection than their mother; who hasn't quite been able to free herself from the soul deep grief she feels after losing their sister and father. Even though vengeance is important to him too but its not as important as protecting the remaining family he has left. No matter what he must keep up or excel against his sister in order to keep her safe on this crazy ride of revenge she's decided to go on.

Name: Hati
Age: 25
Gender: Female
Sexuality: (optional)
Nation: Water
Organization: Equalists
Title/Rank: lieutenant ( not official but she is a trusted agent)
Bender or non Bender: yes bloodbender
Any other skills: Chi blocking, various hand and projectile weapon handling skills, advanced driving, tech use, street/ wilderness survival.
Gear: equalist suit and gas mask, smoke grenades, shock glove,
Personality: Hati has a deep hatred for the water tribes eager to see them brought down for their wrongs. She also does believe that if everyone was born without bending, on an equal field things might be better. Despite this attitude she has not yet revealed her ability and has kept her blood bending a secret for even Amon, at least so she thinks. Her loyalty can also sometimes waver, if alone or far from Amon she can sometimes doubt herself and the cause, but more often than not can get rid of this doubt herself. She tends to try to look at the good aspects of the equalists thinking that the end will justify their means.

Bio: Hati is the subject of a seemingly recent stigma in the water tribes, after the discovery of blood bending the spirits seemingly decided to bring about a cruse. Children born when the moon was blood read that had the gift of water bending were born being able to only bend blood. Hati was one such child and given the view that blood bending and those that use it are evil she was excluded from most normal activities and social life. As Hati aged she would become more and more of an outcast slowly becoming all but exiled from the village despite the issues in the world. Around the time she was 14 Hati would in her mind get the hint and vanish leaving the tribe and heading out into the world. While most would think a long teen would die in the harsh arctic wastes, Hati instead survived heading further and further away a grudge growing every day.

Hati by the time she was 16 would find republic city and truly learn of the equalists, and their message. Hati blaming bending, benders, and the spirits for what happened would of course fall in with a group that was against such things. Hati would keep her origin's a secret and her bloodbending even more so, not wanting those who actually accepted her to hate her for her curse. In the equalists she would grow rather swiftly in rank getting closer and closer to Amon becoming a trusted agent despite her flaws. She now seeks a way to further spread the equalist message and to finally remove bending from the world finally making a world where none are born blessed or cursed.

The Kyoshi Warriors have been in decline since the formation of the United Republics, their ways of the sword and fan rapidly becoming useless in the age of rapid technological advancement that followed the Hundred Years War. Their role became largely ceremonial, a time capsule of the past for those interested in history or trainers for young woman to learn self-defence or at least that is how they appeared to the public. They still served the avatar doing mission that had to be hidden to the public, requiring stealth and guile, the opposite of the recently made public Order of the While Lotus. After the schism of the White Order and the death of Avatar Aang, the Kyoshi Warrior disagreed with white lotus regarding the training of the new avatar. They two group fought eventually leading the Kyoshi Warriors breaking away and striking out on their own.

They isolated themselves returning to Kyoshi Island refusing to participate in world events. It was in this isolation Mai grew up in, seeing little of the world beyond what she learned from stories from her fellow warriors and used to a simpler technologically backwards life. When news came regarding the Equalist take over, a few warriors including Mai called for the kyoshi to help reclaim the unite republic and help the benders. The leader of the Kyoshi refused prefering to help the Earth Kingdom overloads instead. Mai and a select few defied orders and travelled to Republic City to help where they can. The big city and technology was overwhelming to the group and soon all but Mai were captured by Equalist groups. Mai only survived due to the help from the Republican rebel group which she joined realizing she needed their help to help her people and the cause. She took the role as a dancer and performer in a local equalist bar gathering intel and using her skill to perform assassination of high equalist official.

20200503_034037.jpg
Name: Gyoh
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Asexual
Nation: Air Nomads
Organization: The Movement of Restoration of United Republic of Nations (Originally Air Acolytes)
Title/Rank: Wandering philosophical anthropologist
Bender or non Bender: Non-Bender
Any other skills: Chi-Blocking, Blind Sense, Animal Taming, Survival/Tracking, Cooking, History
Gear: Glider Staff, Travel Notes
Personality: Gyoh is a very patient and understanding person, preferring to look beyond the physical of a person and get to know them for what they are in their actions and attitude. Growing up in the care of the Air Acolytes, he had gained their pacifist ways, but through the teachings of Guru Patwah, began to develop a balance between both action and pacifism, now knowing well that action does not equate to violence and pacifism does not equate to peace. While an overall flexible and laid back individual, true to his Earth Kingdom blood, the young adult can easily stand his ground dig in his heels in order to prove his point. Atop this, he is extremely curious, asking as many questions as he can both towards people and towards ideologies, and can easily come off as a bit nosey despite his simple interest in knowledge as a whole.
Bio: Gyoh had originally been born to an earth kingdom family in a remote village who had been forced to leave it behind due to constant attacks and threats from a bandit group nearby that had constantly harassed them. Incapable of affording safer transportation, they had been forced to travel in a cart or on foot through the Earth Kingdom's territory, constantly camping out in the wilds and hunting for their food. One evening during a hunt, they had finally found another person, a self proclaimed air nomad of all things. Through his invitation, the small family had been brought into the Western Air Temple where they continued to live under the care of the Air Acolytes. While not being airbenders themselves, the acolytes held up the traditions, teachings, and cultures of the Air Nomands; and this is the environment that Gyoh had grown up in. Taught from an early age about the ancient history of the Air Nomads while still being reminded of his roots through the stories of his mother and father, the child had a natural inclination towards the history and philosophies of not just the two cultures he had come to call his own, but of the world as a whole. When he had been old enough to travel, and against the wishes of his parents, the then 16 year old Gyoh made his way out of the Western Air Temple, having learned the basic forms and martial art of Air Bending to protect himself. Through his travels he began to learn more and more about the fascinating world that he inhabited and even studied Chi, Chakras, Chi Blocking, and fully learned the martial art of Air Bending under Guru Patwah.

Although disconnected from the outside world aside from a few run-ins with travelers, once the news had reached them that Republic City had been taken over by the Equalist Movement and that it had put in place its own highly oppressive form of government, Gyoh had opposed it purely on principle, making his way there to try an aid any efforts to restore balance and freedom. Being a non-bender and not immediately hostile toward the Equalists, he was able to set himself up in Republic City before finding and joining fellow like-minded individuals in the Restoration Movement.

Name: Levi
Age: 25 years old
Gender: Male
Sexuality: "Shh. We're not talking about that! Privacy, people."
Nation: Republic City

Organisation: Bender Underground/Pro Bending Resistance
Title/Rank: "I'd describe it as 'I missed the briefing' meets 'professional decoy'. But! I really don't mind doing what needs to be done."

Bender or non-bender: Waterbender. Knows how to extract moisture out of thin air. Would have the potential to learn the healing skill if he didn't lack the patience and concentration for it.

Any other skills: Believable acting, little "magic tricks" of making objects appear and vanish in his palms, pickpocketing. Levi is ambidextrous and his charm can be as convincing as it is deceiving. He also makes a fantastic singer, most prominently showing this skill off when he is taking a shower or cooking a meal. In his free time that he prefers to call me-time, Levi enjoys tinkering and taking metal mechanisms apart to study their structures.

Weaknesses: Levi is easily distracted and tends to take serious situations too lightly. He rarely plans ahead. Although he is incredibly nimble with his hands, he is known for tripping over his own feet quite frequently. On top of that, he never bothered to pick up any type of hand to hand combat techniques or weapons, rendering him helpless should he end up losing his bending.

Gear: No weapons. However, he does carry a deck of playing cards, a couple of tools for metal-working and a bunch of lockpicks and screws in his pockets.

Personality:

+ Stubbornly Optimistic + Nothing and no one can shake this man's hopeful outlook on the world. He will try anything to make what he's set to his mind work.

+ Open and Outspoken + He is quite talkative and his warm eyes and friendly smile draw in everyone around him. Crowds boost his confidence.

+ Curious and Inquisitive + Levi loves secrets; but only when he knows of them. He will ask countless creative questions revolving around a topic of his interest.

- Naive - His big heart is easily won over by a friendly smile or large puppy-dog-eyes. Levi is too trusting for his own good. Although he isn't shy to interrogate anyone about anything, his questions usually miss the heart of the matter.

- Inattentive - Sitting still, listening or noticing small details around him that could help him aren't Levi's strongest suits. He's a hands-on, big picture, easy-going kind of guy.

- Impulsive - For Levi, actions always come before words. Before thoughts, even. He heavily relies on his intuition and feelings and lives in the moment, thus allowing his quick actions and reactions to spiral him straight into the heart of the adventure.

Bio:

Levi grew up in the bustling downtown of Republic City, living with his aunt, uncle and grandma, his brother and a couple of cousins under the roof of their caregiver's workshop. He helped out with repairing car engines and much more intricate clockworks from an early age, envying the coworkers in the store that could use metal- or firebending as it was much more efficient for the job. In his childhood, he only discovered and made use of his waterbending during fights among his cousins or other children they would meet in the back-alleys. With everyone capable, gown-up and responsible constantly at work, Leviathan and his brother Manticore gained more street-smarts than anything else. Being among the older children, he ended up becoming the main entertainer and cook when the adults were busy tending to broken, inanimate objects.

Name: Feng, Jin

Age: Twenty five

Gender: Male

Nation: Fire Nation

Organisation: Equalist

Title / Rank: Recruit

Bender or non Bender: Non-Bender

Any other skills:
  • Pick-pocketing
  • Climbing
  • Acrobatics
  • Painting

Gear:
  • Wooden staff
  • Nunchucks
  • Batons
  • Throwing knives
  • Kyoketsu-shoge

Personality:
Jin is known for his chatty, extroverted personality and good sense of humor. Given his rough upbringing, he’s very compassionate towards the poor and resentful of the wealthy. Jin’s also a bit of a hothead. He’s always eager to flaunt his skills in combat. He’s cocky, which is reflected in his flashy and extravagant style of fighting. Jin harbours intense hatred for all benders, but especially fire benders. He believes they’re all rotten to the core and evil by their very nature. He’s somewhat delusional in this regard and is quick to dismiss any evidence to the contrary.

Bio:
Jin was born in an impoverished coastal town at the southernmost point of Fire Nation territory. It was no place to raise a child. The town was terrorized by a criminal triad who called themselves the Boiling Dragons; a family of ruthless fire benders who used their power to oppress the townspeople and extort them for “protection” money. Crime and violence were rampant. Fear was widespread. And the Boiling Dragons were quick to make an example of anyone who opposed them, often in a brutal and gruesome manner. Jin’s father, Wei, was one of their victims - he was a local hero who was burned to death for rallying the town together and leading a small, failed resistance against the criminal family. Jin was only four at the time.

Jin’s mother, Lian, raised him alone. She worked day and night just to make ends meet. As such Jin was mostly left to his own devices from as young as eight years old. A hungry, desperate child straying sleazy streets alone. It was inevitable that he’d fall in with the wrong crowd. He began to associate with a local gang of street urchins. They would roam the town in packs - picking pockets, swiping food from stalls in the market and harassing townspeople. Many of the kids shared Jin’s anti-bending sentiments and in turn they mostly targeted benders. As Jin grew, so too did his hatred of benders. His mother only intensified that hatred further, filling his young mind with anti-bending rhetoric. Jin started to believe that benders were the root of all bad, that they were born evil and that the world would be better off without them. Jin and his gang’s harassment of benders quickly escalated into something more violent and sinister.

Throughout his early teens Jin aspired to be more proactive against benders. He understood he was at a disadvantage from the get-go. Benders had bending, so he needed something to level the playing field. He sought out someone who could teach him how to fight. Jin found one in an old man named Pai Mei, a local martial arts master. Pai pitied the young boy and had a great deal of respect for his late father, so he decided to take Jin on as his student. They trained together regularly for years. Jin was a very determined student, spurred on by his hatred of benders. He studied a variety of different martial arts styles un Pai, and learned how to wield several different weapons with deadly efficiency.

Jin was nineteen when word of the Equalist movement first reached his forgotten corner of the world. Amon’s anti-bending message immediately resonated with him. He felt like he had found his calling overnight. Jin recognised that the kind of real, lasting changes he wanted for his home town could only be achieved through a global movement. With his mother’s help, Jin was able to raise enough funds to travel to Republic City and join the Equalist’s ranks.

Name: Getan
Age: 26
Gender: male
Sexuality: (optional)
Nation: Republic city
Organization: Bender Underground or whatever works
Title/Rank: Thug
Bender or non-Bender: Earth/metal bender
Any other skills: Hand to hand combat, pickpocketing/sleight of hand, manipulation
Gear: small fish hook knives attached to cables he keeps wrapped around his forearms (similar to the old police force gauntlets, but more primitive),
Personality:
  • Energetic
  • Charismatic
  • Intelligent
  • Resourceful
  • Overconfident
  • Egotistical
  • Believes he has no morals
  • Manipulative
  • Smartass
Bio: After Getan's father died when he was young, he was raised by his mother. He did what he could to help her. Scavenging for scraps and cutting purses was the best he could do for a time, along with doing whatever odd jobs the local crime syndicate's needed. Once he hit the ripe age of 16, he started his career as an underground fighter. He was decent and might've even been able to go pro, but one the equalist party started growing, he'd figured it was time to do a little less fighting and go a bit more underground. Since then, he's joined the Bender underground organization and does what he can to help the cause. He's not sure if it will actually go anywhere, and if things get any worse it might be better to turn tail to find a different life.

Appearance: Miyu keeps her light brown hair up in a high ponytail or messy bun. She wears red cloth typical of someone born to the fire nation, though it's often nothing more than a plain shirt and pants with sensible slip-on shoes. Her eyes are a vibrant amber, her eyebrows thin and her nose button-like. All over her back, there's one large (mostly-healed) burn scar which limits her flexibility somewhat, though not so much that she can't fight at all.
Name: Miyu Takeyama (Born: Mimi Arai)
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Amonsexual, seriously, it's kind of unhealthy Demisexual
Nation: Fire
Organisation: Equalist
Title/Rank: Propaganda producer, though often participates in sparring matches for trainees.
Bender or non Bender: Born firebender, currently non-bender.
Any other skills:
  • Utilizes a firebender's typical martial art style, though has to land her punches in order to hurt anyone now. So, technically, hand-to-hand combat.
  • Public speaking/preaching
  • Cooking, though she rarely ever has the energy to do it
Gear:
  • Basic Equalist combat gear, though she never uses the gloves or any stun equipment whatsoever; she seems to be afraid of them.
  • An outdoor survival kit, just in case the power goes out or something
Personality: Simultaneously passionate and lethargic, she tends to wear herself out from the intensity of her emotions alone. Miyu is an honest, eager person who doesn't follow any cause she doesn't absolutely believe in. She tends to feel distant from others in her organization, until Amon's voice is broadcast over the radio again and her faith is instantly reaffirmed. She hates when people get hurt and hates getting in fights, though believes it's a necessary evil when it comes to purging bending abilities from the world.

Bio: Firebending is born from anger and begets violence. Though Avatar Aang and Fire Lord Zuko knew this to be false, not everyone took their words of wisdom to heart. The Arai family, for example, taught their future generations the old way; the method of unbridled, nigh-uncontrollable passion. Mimi Arai was given strict, harsh lessons and was never taught how to control her emotions when she got too upset. This passion, her family thought, was the mark of a powerful firebender.

Mimi was only ten years old. The neighbor boy took something that belonged to her, a doll, and though he didn't want it himself, he still kept it from her. It was so funny to watch her get angry, like she always did. Until her anger manifested in the form of an unstoppable blast of fire when she tried to punch him. The neighbor boy would have been forever scarred, if her powerful blast hadn't set the whole house on fire. If he hadn't died that day. Mimi was rescued from underneath a pile of scorched rubble, alive but deeply scarred. Mimi returned to her own home, where her family "took care" of the legal side of things and she never saw a single consequence for her actions.

Firebenders are corrupt. That was the lesson she learned when she was expected to continue her training right where she left off, when she was encouraged to become even more dangerous than she already was. For years, she maintained her obedience, until she could finally move out and live on her own. The first thing she did was move to Republic City, out of the heart of the Fire Nation and into the great cultural melting pot. The second thing she did was change her name, in a vain attempt to try and put the past behind her.

That was when she heard of the Equalists; a group dedicated to uplifting the powerless members of society. As she heard others' stories, she learned: All benders are corrupt. So, she went to rally after rally, never giving away her true identity, until Amon finally demonstrated his ability to take benders' abilities. He showed them a spectacle of violent benders who were all outclassed by a single non-bender who only possessed the ability to make everyone truly equal. Miyu tried to approach the man after that show ended, but was first stopped by Equalist guards who told her that Amon was too busy to talk to everyone from the audience, and he couldn't make any exceptions.

She told them she wanted to join. The guards started to direct her to someone in middle management, until she told them she was a firebender. "I need him to do-- that thing, whatever that was! On stage-- When those guys stopped bending-- I-I need that! To happen! Somehow!" That flustered admission got them to lead her to him, and when they did, Miyu found herself starstruck; overcome by the presence of someone so much more powerful than she could ever hope to be, for the first time in her life. She told Amon what she told the guards, though twice as flustered as before, and with an added admission that she'd only ever used her powers to hurt other people. An admission that she wanted to change.

Because she came to him, of her own volition, Miyu's entrance into the world of non-benders wouldn't be a spectacle on the great stage. He gave her the luxury of privacy, one of the many things she thanked him for as she let him move her into position. As his thumb grew closer, as she closed her eyes, she felt a rush of pure bliss... which was soon overtaken by a wave of horrendous pain, as her chi closed up bit by bit. Horror, as she was forced still by a kind of agony she could never truly describe. Then, finally, the exhaustion that she's felt ever since. Despite all the pain and fear, she didn't turn against him. His words were comforting, when he told her how she'd never hurt anyone with her abilities again. Justice had finally been done. There was a sense of relief in that fact.

To her, Amon is an untouchable, benevolent higher power.

Appearance: Long, dark hair, typically kept loose or in a series of braids. Hokko has a mid-brown skin tone, pale blue eyes, and stands at five feet tall. Her clothing is typical for a member of the southern water tribe, layered and color-coded blue. Though, at the moment, the only thing she can wear is a hospital gown. So there's that.
Name: Hokko
Age: 30
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Homosexual
Nation: Water
Organisation: Non-affiliated. She can't abide the Anti-Equalist riots and can't abide the new world order, either. May or may not be forced to stay with the underground benders for safety, but refuses to take their side.
Title/Rank: (optional)
Bender or non Bender: Waterbender. Though she can move water normally, she can't do that with any real amount of force, making her useless as a fighter. However, her healing abilities are stronger than normal.
Any other skills: Mundane medicine, animal husbandry, needlepoint.
Gear: To start? Nothing but the clothes on her back. She doesn't even have shoes.
Personality: Meek. Hokko is not a fighter by nature, and despises conflict in general. She believes the way to bring about change is to encourage positive actions, not to ban the status quo.
Introspective. Hokko thinks deeply about everything, and doesn't set her ideological positions in stone. Though she maintains certain axioms, the minutia is subject to change.
Bio: Hokko was born and raised in Republic City. She always believed that something needed to change, but... Creating a police state was NOT what she meant by that. Negative reinforcement on the part of Republic City only caused more pushback and now the world is in the middle of a painful transition. Hokko, a doctor who had only seemed to work to improve the mundane aspects of the medical field, was never really pegged as a bender by the general populace. Those who knew what she was before the takeover kept quiet afterward, and Hokko stayed hidden, completely overlooked by the Equalist movement while never fighting against it.

She managed to hide for quite some time, until one fateful night, when her apartment complex was hit in the middle of an Anti-Equalist riot. The neighbor across the hall lost his life, and the neighbor's son was still breathing, but horribly injured. She'd known the neighbor down the hall was an Equalist; she'd seen that woman's face at a few small rallies before. Part of her had hoped that that neighbor evacuated before the ceiling collapsed over the staircase. Another part, though smaller and quieter, hoped that neighbor was dead, so at least there would have been one good outcome out of all this. She could not have expected that same neighbor to have gone through the entire floor, trying to get people out.

She could not have expected an Equalist to do anything but arrest her on sight, but that person gave her a chance. Because of this, Hokko now believes that Equalists are not immune to reason, even if she does have to live in hiding now that she's been reported to the movement at large.
