After a lifetime of seeing Dragon-blooded looking down on mortals, Kuaidao would be nice to Bard.
Woo! Bard will appreciate it. He shall play epic music to inspire your troops and give you all initiative each round with a rousing performance!

I will be purchasing more strength and appearance with xp.

Though hopefully I can stunt some epic tunes to substitute charisma for damage.

I will be putting up the initial post fairly soon, giving you guys a bit of time to get the feel of your characters.

Syvvaris Syvvaris If you are looking for a good damage spell, I'd suggest you use your Death of Obsidian Butterflies as your Control Spell. It will give you this:

A sorcerer who knows Death of Obsidian Butterflies as
her control spell gains (Essence) bonus dice to the spell’s
attack roll. When her emotions run hot, butterfly silhouettes
rise from her shadow. When she is angry, her fingernails
turn to sharp volcanic glass, making it possible to cut cloth
or paper, rend wood or flesh and other similar stunts.

How would you like the two "mates" to get along? Any particular sort of theme or relationship youd like to play upon?

Sherwood Sherwood
I couldnt find mention of it. But does the solar/lunar bond offer any mechanical benefits or feelings that I should be aware of? As well as any other changes between 2e and 2e.

Hmmm. Not really sure how we should play this one just quite yet. Lets see how things build up.

I found this in the Lunar book. It doesn't give out much info, but it is something.

In the First Age, the Lunars forged soul-deep bonds between themselves and the Solars. Not all Lunars have Solar mates, but for those who do, the experience of meeting one is unmistakable — the Lunar instantly recognizes him as her bonded mate, and forms a Minor Tie towards him with an emotional context chosen by her player, if she doesn’t have one already. Lunars’ feelings for their Solar mates run the gamut of human emotions, but they’re all passionately felt. If a Lunar’s Tie for her Solar mate is fully eroded, either voluntarily or with social influence, she forms a new Minor Tie towards him with a player-chosen context at the scene’s end. Many Lunar Charms expand upon the Solar Bond, protecting the Lunar’s Tie against unwanted influence or empowering her when acting in accordance with it.

I saw that one too. But like you said, it doesnt give much info.

Is there anything you want it to be? 3e seems to have de-emphasized the bond a lot more than 2e.

Aye aye! Play it by ear and see what happens.

Want to assume they recently met, and they were basically just having a drink to sit down and discuss what it actually is they are feeling?

I've been contacted by Random Word Random Word asking to join in. Since we just started, it shouldn't be too hard to get a new player into the mix.

Time for more questions! Sherwood Sherwood

Given that acting is a performance thing, and that part of acting is makeup and getting into character. And that acting often involves dressing up and makeup....

Could disguise roll be made with char/manip+performance rather than int+larceny?

And if so!

Given that there arent many acting charms.

And using the Master Thespian Style performance charm as a proposed alternative prerequisite (given that it mentions this charm I particular)... would it be possible to get Flawlessly Impenetrable Disguise larceny charm as a performance charm?

Next set of questions!

Given that the Kiai shouts of Silver voiced Nightingale style can take multiple forms aside from voice, and that silver voiced Nightingale is highly related to performance. Could it be reasonably to suggest the ways that Bard can release his ki is tied to the performance specialties?

For example. Using shout as a default, that it is the speciality of +stringed instruments that has awakened him to using it in a different method. And if I wanted to release it in a different way, I would need +interpretive dance to use the movements of my body do the same.

Alternatively! Would you rather just like me to stick to one method of it?

Lastly! Kiai shouts have tags of bashing. But in the little note of Nightingale remix, it mentioned using razors winds from a stringed instrument. Which dont sound bashing.

Would the tag it takes determine on the form of the kiai? Or based on stunt?

I will allow that so long as you are not trying to duplicate another person. Just altering your own appearance is ok.

I will allow you to tweak FID to be a Performance Charm, giving you the ability to make the perfect disguise quickly.

I don't see interpretive dance as a valid specialty to have for the Kiai - after all, dance is non-verbal. But you could have different specialties for different ways of releasing the blast, like wind instruments or stringed instruments.

Depending on what kind of attack you do, I would let you change the tag. The standard scream would be Bashing, but depending on how you stunt the attack you will have different tags.

Awesome possum!

And interpretive dance was a quirky non serious example. Because the only thing that comes to mind when I think of interpretive dance is Squidward.

Given that his primary mode of kiai attacks would be from strings. What do you feel an appropriate tag should be?

Short version of Bards backstory.

An illegitimate scion between houses Iselsi and Nellens. Wanted by neither, but unable to be rejected completely due to political reasons.

Iselsi Rito was sent to the far islands with little but a scornful overseer. Out of sight, out of mind.

With a knack for the music and charm, the boy grew up a popular lad, earning spending money through his talents. Busy he became, until the calling for a bard became synonymous with him. Simply refering to him as "the bard", or even just "Bard" when addressing him.

Years passed, and things went well as could be until a horrid dark storm threatened their island. One of evil that aimed to devour their island.

The friendly Peleps dragon blooded fleet had come to lend its aid. But was quickly over its head when the heart of the storm made its call. A song from the abyss that called to the people to send themselves into the ocean to be eaten.

Seeing his fellow islanders driven mad by this song... Bard could not stand by why his people suffered so. Not while Peleps work so hard to try and protect them.

Bard strode to the coast and faced the storm, exaltation found him. The first strum of his lute cut through the ocean like a knife, and his performance countered the abyssal(water depths) song.

His performance was divine. Throughout the island the madness abated and the fires in their hearts renewed. They worked harder. The dragon blooded, moved to tears by the song, also worked harder. Their sorcerers finding power and inspiration in the music. And with the help of this musician, they were able to save the island and drive this evil storm back where it came from.

However... an anathema this bard was. But good memories they had of him. The admiral showed mercy, hidden in an act of execution. Her heart having been moved not just by the song, but by his aid.

When it came time to kill him the Admiral had her firewand half filled. Shot him and sent him to the see, but still alive was the Bard. The Admiral saw a boat was left for him to flee. With which he did.

Slightly disfigured by the injury. He was still assumed dead. It would heal in time, at least. For now... he needed to get far from here, and learn what his exaltation meant. He felt a pull in his heart somewhere. Might as well head that way.

Hello. I'm late to the party, but I'll try to make something quickly so I don't slow things down.

It looks like we have a Zenith Solar Bard and Socialite, a Twilight Solar Sorcerer and Scholar, a Dawn Solar General and Soldier, and a Full Moon Lunar Warrior and, apparently, Mount. I could even out the Sun/Moon ratio a bit if anyone else wants a Lunar bond.

I like to have at least one or two members of the circle my character really feels strongly about - it's more fun than casual acquaintances who met in a teahouse off to save the world. Sibling, student, friendly rivalry, life debt, sworn defender, in love with, hero worship/idolized, etc, etc. If the Sorcerer needs an apprentice, the Bard a dancer or muse, the General a master of horse or living siege weapon, the Mount a rid- err, I mean the Sifu a student/rival from another school (Oops, you didn't go with martial arts after all.) those could all be fun, and are easy to build a character around. I'm also completely open to suggestions for things you feel would be fun for your character to play off of.

If anyone's interested in working out that kind of connection I can read over their backstory again and come up with some suggestions (or in Syvvaris' case work with you to sort out what that story might be).

I'm not going to lie, I have a very basic understanding of how the world works and my backstory is pretty much... He's a bastard of some noble in Nexus, his mother is a maid of said noble, his father is a scribe at a library and Thallus grew up a book worm.

I dont even know who Bards parents were :p

Well Random Word Random Word I never turn down an offer at collaboration! But I'm not gonna hog it all either. That would be greedy of me (which I am. I wonder if Solars could have more than one Lunar mate...)

Ahem!

I bet a clever mind could probably tie Thallus's family, with Bards, and maybe even Kuidao's. And another lunar is an easy way to get in ones good Grace's.

Also if your interested, a sneaky sneak might be a good way to round out the circle if your looking for inspiration. Though we arent too worried about that. You are welcome to make what makes you happy.
