    My friends are evil and shamed me into writing my first fanfiction. Here's a link to it. I hope you all like Hetalia! There will probably be more in the future.

    I just realized that I missed the deadline for the Character Contest. I had totally started a character sheet and everything, but I've been really busy and had no idea the deadline was so close!

    Just finished The Scarlet Letter. That book was awesome, but my teacher LIED to me, She said no one would die, and surprise! THE MAIN CHARACTERS DIE.

    So I told one of my friends to go watch Hannibal Rising, and she came back to school today saying "I'm in love with Gaspard Ulliel." I was like "I TOLD YOU THE CANNIBAL WAS HOT!" That got me some weird looks.


    But seriously, LOOK AT HIM!!!

    Does anyone have ideas on ways to volunteer with kids? I want to do some volunteering, and I'd like to work with kids, especially in literacy.

    I would check with like a Boys and Girls Club; YMCA; after school programs often have tutoring and volunteer positions. I have done plenty :)  I know for sure the one I tutored for was found through a college course I took but I'm sure you can easily search on the web through schools near you.

    You can also look into helping a local library if you are able to access one.  Some libraries have children programs that look for volunteers  to help with story time and arts and crafts. :) It's very fun. I did a bit of that during a summer a few years back.

    Thank you guys for the input! It seems like working with the library or elementary schools would be best. There's not enough trustworthy families to babysit for, the hospital is a couple hours away, and there's no formal clubs for that stuff around here.

    I probably won't be on RpN tomorrow, I'm going to be watching races on a track in Vegas for my birthday. Hopefully they crash, that's half the fun. Well, I'm off to bed now!

    I've been wanting to go to Universal too, but those things just cost so much. Las Vegas is our preferred vacation place.

    I've never really been on any spectacular vacations. The coolest place I've been to was the Ben and Jerry's factory in Vermont. (Pun intended)

    Lol mine was with my net itself because of the computer I was using lol; I have a gaming comp and a laptop and because I was doing something on my laptop I had rpn on gamer and she doesn't always pc up the wifi like she should

    So I got the saxophone, but I suck so bad at playing it so far. I can play a few notes fine, but when I get to the lower notes all I can make is high-pitching squeaking/honking. I've got a lot of practicing to do...

    Those charts still came in handy my senior year, so hold onto those, they help, especially for those weird notes you rarely ever use, like a low c#.

    Yup, that's what I figured. Honestly though, just looking at a saxophone can be a bit overwhelming, there's keys and pads everywhere. I also need to memorize the position of each note on the staff. I was in choir my freshmen year, so I remember beat counts, but I never learned what the notes are called.

    Oh, I learned what the notes were called back in like first grade. What helps is writing down the letter that correspond with each note underneath so when you play through it you can get used to what notes are where. TBH you only use like 6-8 keys most of the time and those are the ones you put your fingers on and the two main pinky keys plus the octave key if you count that.
