    So your issue isn't with fanfiction itself, but rather with lack of effort and smut/pwp? As someone who reads fanfiction, I agree entirely with lack of effort being a problem. There is a lot of bad fanfiction out there. A lot of it is unreadable-- to me, anyway. At first (and second, and possibly third) glance, it seems that the majority of it is terrible. However, there are a lot of good fanfiction pieces out there. Some of it is hormone-fueled, error-riddled, self-inserting, and I cannot deal with OC-centric fanfics in the least. And some of it is just as well-written as certain original works, if not better-written than some of the books I've had the displeasure of coming across. 


    Good fanfic writers are nothing short of amazing to me.

    I agree with what you just said too. It takes an incredible self-management to actually write good fanfiction. I doubt I would be able to write one myself, in fact. I´d probably end up with some horrible piece of crap, because I wouldn´t be able to separate nostalgia from what I was writing. Though, to me, the biggest, well, "sin" that can be committed by a fanfiction writer or fandom player, and perhaps the reason why a lot of actually relatively well-written of such works can become mediocre at best, is missing the point.


    Why did you enjoy this? Why did the character take route A or B? Etc... It´s not an easy thing to consider but in my eyes, it´s key.


    For example, imagine a fanfiction of, like, Harry Potter and people are randomly using magic without wands. Any fan, I believe, would be deeply displeased with (unless it´s well-justified), as it misses an essential part of world building. If you make a darth vader fiction, don´t just focus on the hard breathing, focus on his actual arc, because...it´s not the hard breathing that made him such an iconic character.

    Yeah, after the final season, they went off and made a live-action, which I personally didn't really like, but I guess it was okay.
