I would ask to limit yourself to one main character. But if you want to have side characters or background characters connected to them that would be fine.
So long as it's enough to advance the story/conversation I feel like it would be okay. And while spelling mistakes are common enough I would ask for the effort of a spellcheck before posting. Otherwise I'm fairly open.

Certainly, doesn't have to be a prototype, the Thorn are highly advanced to the point where such things can be used, as each Thorn is unique to the character who pilots them. So energy constructs and the like are perfectly fine.
