    I made one char for Rock named Serenity. I haven't looked at the other chars in the category but I hope I'll get at least in the top 5. I put a lot of work and detail into her and she was my first and so far is my only female char

    Oh yes! I remember seeing you saying that in the general discussion. I should go check it out, but I have karate soooooo maybe after that. 


    They may only be doing one winner/category though, and then one overall. Not too sure though, it's unclear.

    Is this how it's really supposed to be? Everyone takes turns building on the story? Or is there other formats?

    So I come from a forum that works kind of like this:


    MAIN FORUM DESCRIPTION (so like what the RP is about, etc.)


              PLAYER POST (someone replies, it goes to the top of the list)


              REPLIES TO PLAYER POST (basically a replies tab, similar to a spoiler. Click it and the replies to the players post extend out)


                      REPLIES TO REPLIES OF PLAYER POST etc.


            PLAYER POST (less recent/responded to later)


                 ETC. ETC.


    Basically the GM made the forum, and players were able to post freely in unconflicting "Sub-threads", so to say, where their post could generate their own seperate responses. Then when the GM wanted to move on, they'd make a story post (a regular post, but one that many had to participate in) and then people would respond accordingly. But to me it seems RP's are moving in a single line, with no real response to a single post but really just "the one before yours", which confuses me.

    From my perspective in forum RPs, this site and NationStates before it, forum RP is also sponsored by a GM (usually the Original Poster) who makes a thread about an RP idea he has. Each GM has their own different CC format and stylistic flair, but the OOC opens players to the idea of the RP like a storybook, with a solid beginning, middle, end, and roll credits. 


    To begin, the GM makes the first post in the IC, starting the In-Character Story Interaction. The story, or plot I should say, is then played out in the IC. Any questions, comments or discussion about influencing the plot is debate in the OOC between the players and the GM, followed by their IC characters reflecting this consensus by their IC actions in posts. These actions can sometimes overlap, but usually take their cues from the posts done before theirs. 


    So its kind of like a inverted pyramid. The GM first post, spawns additional posts from the players, who in turn spawn even more additional posts from other players. When the action starts looping, nothing else can be done, or bordem sets in, the pyramid begins again. GM makes a scene shifting post, which spawns posts from players etcetera, ad nausem.
