Estura was once an explorer, spending most of her time outside of Aetheria on Earth, wandering around and looking at all the sights the world could offer her. One day, she was kidnapped and held captive by a rogue Mage, who cast a curse on her which inhibited her abilities and prevented her from escaping. The Mage enslaved her, forcing her to perform various tasks for him and forcibly extracting her Fairy Dust for his own purposes while giving her very little in return. After having been treated this way for several weeks, Estura’s despair and hatred towards the Mage transformed her into a Dark Fairy. With her newfound control over Dark Magic, she was able to break the curse the Mage had cast on her and cast her own curse on him, leaving him to wander and die to the monsters that would be attracted to him.
Estura now lives in the abandoned castle in the ruins of Scarfala, where she uses her magic to enslave Humans the same way the Mage had done to her, and treating them much the same way as well. When she gets bored of a particular Human she’s claimed, she’ll spend some time thinking about the most entertaining way to dispose of them - Usually brutal, painful, or insanity-inducing methods - for a few days before finally making a decision and removing the Human in question.
Estura, when first meeting a Human, will act kind and even loving towards them, in an attempt to lure them into her home. Once there, she turns on them and wraps them in her cursed magic, trapping them in the ruined castle until she sees fit to "Release them" from their burdens.
