Fat Gandalf's Bar & Lounge (OOC Chat) - Chapter Six

D. Rex's luck in Psychie's game has been awful recently, but she's kind enough to roll for me when I've asked her. =)

What are you thinking of playing, D. Rex? Would it help if I listed the Wild Cards'' occupations and specialities?

Ooh! I had that special ability with one of my other Robotech pilots!

Now then! Onto char! Right now I think I would like to pilot a Veritech. A test pilot, mayhaps, if it would not be stepping on ties. Or a pilot specific M.O.S., I would have to look the lost over again. Maybe building on a hot-blooded ace archetype.

As for char creation, I fly fast and loose with it. I like taking inspiration from the rp setting, and building from there. And always happy to use any twists and turns or challenges sent my way. I can play just about anything, dont consider anything restrictive set on me as an inconvenience.

Also think I will officially decide on being a Traverser.

Ah yes! I should perhaps ask, would you like me to bring char talk to PM? I dont mind being open about it. So your preference there. And yes! A quick rundown of the current folk would be very helpful.

Yes, quite kind! If I known my luck would have been that bad. I would have taken a similar route. But I insist on taking my die how it rolls. I must embrace it. As it is the fate that defines my character. By choosing the Teal die, my fate has been set in stone.

I wouldn't feel stepped on at all. ^;3^ Been reading astronaut Michael Collins's book today, relearning that test pilots come in all different personalities even in such a small sample size as the first few groups chosen as astronauts. And in any case, because my PC is made by me and yours is made by you, they're bound to be different!

I do have one semi-serious question for you: are you good with RPing with an Admin? Some people get weirded out by it, but I don't think I'm better or worse than anyone else in the game.

By choosing the Teal die, my fate has been set in stone.
In plastic, at least. ^;3^

Lol no, I am not weirded out by it in the slightest. I am not intimidated by GMs or Admins. I'll treat them as I would anybody else, save for deference to the GM in regards to the story and rules of the RP.

Other than that! You are just another player to me, and get no special priviledge save for what respect is earned through personal interaction. By extension this means I dont pull my punches either when it comes to poking fun at them (Ask Welian).

Or at least in plastic, right? *points at the plastic dice* Heh!

Re: Going to Conversation with character building. Not yet. We're not quite at that stage yet, and I'd like Silanon to see what we've been writing here to help him out, but I thank you for asking!

Here's the Wild Cards line-up with the mech they have spent the most time in:
NPC - Squadron Leader 1st Lt. Shirley "Mack" Mackenzie - T.A.S.C. Veritech Pilot using the Mechanized Infantry O.C.C., Close Air Support and Special Forces pilot/STORM Team (Valkyrie)
Psychie plays 2nd Lt. Toph "Muppet" Kirin - T.A.S.C. O.C.C. Aerospace Veritech Pilot/Field Medic - 1/2 Meltrandi, 1/2 Japanese Ajax pilot and medical doctor (Ajax)
Kaerri plays 2nd Lt. Elinor "Bruce Leeanne" Hall - Farm-girl-become-T.A.S.C. Test Pilot (from Macross Saga), mecha/aerospace/veritech engineer, Damage Control (Valkyrie)
Sherwood plays Corporal Mario Zuko - Italian-American Veritech Hover Tank pilot, Communications Specialist, and Armorer - A.T.A.C. O.C.C. (Veritech Hover Tank)
NPC - Cera (pronounced "Sara") - Micronized Ura-Meltrandi Auxiliary Specialist and mecha/starship designer/tester/engineer (Mjolnir)

Cool deal. ^D^

But so far I like you :)
Yay!

Alrighty! Well so far, I'm thinking about playing a headsure and cockstrong Valkyrie Pilot. An optimist with a romantic outlook, especially towards machines. While a capable pilot, his methods and mannerisms are crude and unrefined, leading some to question why he should be allowed to polot at all.

Was a former stunt pilot before joining the military, and found his calling during the war, gaining his reputation on surviving suicide missions he and his squadron was sent out on. Be it by luck or instincts, somehow making it home in one piece even if his fighter could not say the same.

With a knack for finding every way imaginable to abuse his machine during combat, and his luck(and skill, as some might begrudgingly admit), he was given clearance to test pilot newer machinery in the field. Less out of faith, and more to see if they can stand up to such hardship.

There was a recent mission to rescue and bring back a VIP from a hot zone. Given the low odds of success, his squadron was sent in. It was a phyrric victory. The VIP was rescued, but the squadron was decimated. With only the pilot and the VIP returning(quite explosively) to the exfiltration carrier seconds before being left behind.

After recovery, and no squad left, the pilot was to be transferred to aid the famed Wild Cards Squadron in their endeavors.

Purr Purr How does that sound so far?

Well, my first question is: What do "headsure" and "cockstrong" mean? Do you mean "headstrong"? =)

Be it by luck or instincts, somehow making it home in one piece even if his fighter could not say the same.

Here's my take. I believe losing birds would give him a bad rep in T.A.S.C.. In their line of work, a pilot comes home with both or eventually gets grounded. Ouch. Plus that would probably also drastically decrease, not encourage, his chances at becoming a test pilot. If you're in charge of the folks providing state-of-the-art brand-new designs to test and impress, I think the last thing you want is a pilot who keeps losing aircraft.

Ooof. And he lost a squadron... That must've hurt.

So far, I think he'd make a decent, if lucky, pilot but God only knows who would want to fly with him with a record like that.

However, there's something I realize I've left out - the Wild Cards are presumed dead by the Army of the Southern Cross and the public, having died in a twin-nuclear explosion off of the coast of Florida in the Gulf of Mexico. What everyone doesn't know is that, yes, they are quite alive and are onboard an REF ship from the future trying to do the nigh-impossible. =)

Oh, but whatever you make, have no worries about how to get the character in with the Wild Cards. That's my job (and people tell me I'm good at it). =)

At this stage, I think there is enough text here to give Silanon a good idea of what to expect (not to mention a new perspective that D. Rex has provided). I'm going to open up that Conversation now and take this in there. As usual, Gang, if you've got questions, post away. Meanwhile, keep on those Chessel Corporation bad guys! =)

Back-and-forth posts between me and Dann in IC are the result of Elinor wanting to ask a question she figured Shirley had time to answer, even on Elinor's turn (GM says she does) and then Dann pointing out that just talking and changing her mecha's orientation (toward the drones instead of toward the facility) still left her with an action to shoot with. So she did. ^D^

Initiative order (Beginning of Action #1, Round 1 - Outpost #5 is 7,500 feet away)
Outpost #5: 15 (4 AA guns [Guns 1 & 2 on 3rd Action, Guns 3 & 4 on 2nd Action])
Outpost #5: 15 [2] (Surface-to-Air Missile Launcher - lightly damaged)
Cera: 14 [2] (Stealth Logan - Guardian mode, Mario's wingman)
Elinor: 13 [2] (Super Valkyrie - Jet mode with Trouble/MechaKitten, 49/56 SRMs remaining)
Mack: 9 [2] (Super Valkyrie - Jet mode, Elinor's wingman - Delayed action. "Fire on first drone that threatens Elinor")
Toph: 8 (Ajax - Helicopter mode with Professor Stein)
Mario: 7 (Stealth Logan - Guardian mode)
Griffon Drones: 4 (#2-6, coming in straight at you, 1.5 miles away, at about 400 miles per hour and roughly 400 feet in altitude.)

Note for Psychie Psychie . The Wild Cards are about to enter a dogfight. Toph's T.A.S.C. training is telling her that a helicopter is a bad dogfighter but a jet (or even an Ajax in Battloid-mode) is preferable. Your call! =)

This had best work, because I'm going to be going to guns real soon.

This made me laugh out loud! =) I'm not going to go all Western-philosophy and try and dissect the why - I'm just going Eastern-philosophy and enjoying the moment! Thanks for the laugh, Psychie!

Hah! You know damn well I don't work that way. The dice are king and queen of this palace even if I am the emperor! =)

Besides... you can always ask me to change dice if you don't like yours. =)

Psychie Psychie Good news! The doctor called about you! She said, "You'll live!" 8D

Can I spend an action point to give my percentage roll a better chance of making the Chaff confuse the missiles?

I'm going to say, 'No, sorry.' I feel 75% is pretty high and adding another 5% to 30% is virtually guaranteeing success - a bit too much of a player advantage, one that will probably be used all of the time in these situations if I let it happen here.

Good creative thought, though.

It was worth a try. Ok, lets see what the Dice Gods have in store for me now.

Sherwood Sherwood So.. Did Mario at some point invest in Chessel Corporations competitors to earn this bad luck or what? Even the SAM site wants a piece of him! *points at in-game*

Spending an Action Point to make the roll on my forward guns.

Thanks for saying so in OOC. I normally don't check those spoilers you guys use for your abilities.
