I Am All Of Me

welcome to jp.png

This is Sanctuary; the place where dinosaurs roam free after the disaster on Isla Nublar. You are one of these dinosaurs. From the peaceful herbivores to the horrifying carnivores this is the place where dinosaurs walk the earth once more without the influence of mankind. Here, you will start as a lone dinosaur or with others and fight for survival. You will face many challenges on your path to adulthood including other dinosaurs, natural disasters, famine, and other tests of nature. Will you fall under the harshness of survival or rise to be the apex predator feared by all?

Rules:
1. Each person may have up to two dinosaurs.
2. No dinosaurs will be able to auto-kill another dinosaur. If a dinosaur attacks another dinosaur we expect you to roleplay this out fairly. No god-modding.
3. All dinosaurs may experience random encounters set-up by myself or my moderator; Beelzemon. This is to keep the threads active and not always reliant on player interactions.
4. My moderator and myself will be rping out our own plot as everyone else is rping. If you see us interacting though please do feel free to join in! We just have a story to tell alongside yours :)
5. You can be any dinosaur from the selection of Jurassic World: Evolution's encyclopedia EXCEPT hybrids and T-Rex. We also allow compys! The T-Rex is treated as the current apex predator and no dinosaurs will be larger or stronger. If the T-Rex is coming... run.
6. No NSFW (of course), mild gore can happen such as; he broke his leg; but nothing insanely detailed. We can have vicious dinosaurs without going to extremes (or breaking the rules of the site)
7. Sanctuary has no humans. It may have old human facilities but no humans. This is supposed to be a place that was prepared for the dinosaurs. This does not mean dinosaurs can't remember humans they've encountered though!
8. Raptors may have up to packs of 5. Dinosaurs may have mates and egg clutches but we will never have mating or anything like that. In order to have a clutch you need to be the mate of another dinosaur :) We will just make a post saying you had a clutch and the genetics of your baby dinos. Super cute!
9. You can fight other dinosaurs for territory! Just be fair about it and maybe talk with the other players first! That being said, you must keep your dinosaur's scale on the food chain in mind. For example; if you're an allosaurus you do not get to chase raptors out of your territory or pick on compys. Go find another medium-sized predator like yourself. Now, you can't chase other dinosaurs out of your territory but you can scare them if they provoke you first! If that compy is sitting on your face and you're a carnotaurus feel free to snap at it to get it off you. If raptors are taunting you feel free to make the ground shake with your mighty roar so they get the point.
10. Dinosaurs can have some cool swag! What's allowed? Shock collars(yes they can glow!) Unnatural colored markings (like Blue's streak), shackles, muzzles, cameras (like the raptor squad had). What isn't allowed? Piercings, sparklesaurs (If you're going to use extravagant colors please make them look natural not like an eyesore). Partially feathered dinosaurs ARE allowed! (Because we're cool like that).
11. Please understand this is not an rp for one-liners. We're looking to tell a story so please have decent grammar skills and make sure each of your posts are at least 4 small sentences.

Post with your interest! We'll officially make the thread once we have a good headcount :) this will be an on-going sign-up so it's not limited. Thank you everyone and if you have any questions feel free to ask myself or Beelzemon Beelzemon !

Update: removed the hatchling rule it was silly xD

Update: Our OOC page is up! Please go have a look to make your characters or discuss the thread

Just a quick reminder that y'all can ask questions about this rp idea if you'd like!

We have an ooc page in Extra Pages for your character profile!

This could be interesting, if other people take interesting. I'll keep watch of the thread, it seems promising.
Awesome welcome aboard! Yeah we're just kind of waiting to see if people get interested too xD I'm excited at the opportunity to rp with you! Feel free to have a look at the ooc page to have an idea of how we're designing any characters or ask us questions!

I'm currently looking for the page actually. On the subject of applicable species, they have to be part of the jurrasic world: encyclopdia, which I'm aware of. Would something such as the Dreadnoughtus be acceptable? I'm a sucker for sauropods, personally. I ask on this particular one, given the fact that nothing (shy of indominus) would willingly target them due to their sheer size.

I don't see a problem with that! As long as the dreadnoughtus has its own unique weaknesses I'm sure that would be fine!

Besides being extremely large, sauropods didn't have a lot going for them (if you discount the fact some could use their tails as literal whips). And then they had a social group of 1-3 individuals so it's rare you'd catch one in a large group so...really just a big, and therefore intimidating, dino.

Well... on the flip side, I would love to go for a tiny bird-like dinosaur called the Archaeopteryx.

Apparently the size of a crow, Archaeopteryx are credited as being the earliest bird in history, given the feathers and wing-like forearms. They were apparently carnivores, though what exactly was small enough for them to hunt I’m not sure. They also ate flying insects like moths and dragonflys.

they probably fought like giraffes do.

It's ironic. The two first volunteers. One wants to try a titanosaur, the other wants to be an itty bitty bird. There is now only the in between.

If this gets off the ground, I have no intention to rush a second dino. However, would the spinosaur be acceptable? I'm a sucker for larger creatures, and spinosaurs were also piscovore, so that means it'd have an always self sustaining food source, so long as there's fish populated water.

Yes! We're going to say all large carnivores are just a bit smaller than the rex that way everyone can play them and the rex can still be the threat no one wants to mess with xD Spino is perfectly acceptable! It can nom all the fish it wants :3

Spinosaurs I figure would be at a direct disadvantage in a real fight with a reg. It's all in body build, jaw strength, and their mouths. The tyronsaur's muzzle shape was excellent for large targets and chewing through them, and it had the highest known bite force. But spinosaur would be at a disadvantage, because it's muzzle was more narrow and streemlined, full of 'interlocking' teeth to catch fish. It could probably hold it's own, but I don't think it'd have been as epic a fight as the movie portrayed it. Though as this is BASED on the movie, fight's would still be interesting to observe. Sorry, nerd moment.

Ah, I didn’t see that in the list whoops! Aw, but I love my little feathery girl... I’ve got her personality and everything... *holds up little blue dinobirb* I named her Feather.

Well you could always adapt her to a compy! The dinosaurs can be partially-feathered so you could have a compy with bird features ^^ We just want to stick to the Jurassic Park lore because it's much easier for us to manage and if we go outside it then it's going to be hard for us to keep up with things as this is heavily based off the games and the movies rather than general dinosaurs. Especially since the dinosaurs in JP are exaggerated like velociraptors being as big as people xD

Hmmmm... yeah, I could do that.

The OOC page is up everyone! I have updated the description here so you guys can find the link ^^ But if you just want to click through this post you can here!

Feel free to add your characters or discuss the thread!

So the given thread doubles as both the CS, and the OOC? interesting. Oh, before I forget to ask, how are ages being handled? I know ingen accelerated growth process but sauropods (In my experience in the game, and from the wikia) are some of the longest living dino breeds, even without genetic manipulation.

Yes! I think that's something that won't be heavily mentioned in the story. Maybe dinosaurs can act based off their ages like an old and wise sauropod would be super cool but other than effecting the personality I don't think age counts for much in dinosaurs unless of course they are hatchlings lol If you want to have a sauropod that's lived as long as a tortoise (or longer) than you totally can!

The thought hadn't eluded me. Age I don't think affects a dinosaur that much either, except maybe suspectability to disease, but I'm not sure on that one. I am going to go for the old sauropod route though.
