Welcome to the planet Yune, a rich planet of Magic and Marvels of technology. Two vast Nations Battle over control of the world. The heavily industrialized Argossian empire, and The Magic Kingdoms of the Four Suits. Recently the battles have grown far more intense with the Argossian Empire gaining access to Air travel and A seemingly endless supply of oil. Meanwhile the Four suits kingdom suffers from a terrorist organization within their own countries called the Jokers who have support from the Argossian empire. With no recourse the Four Suits kingdoms have called their Aces into battle for the first time in over 600 years. Can the four kingdoms stand the pressure, or will this house of cards come tumbling down?

The Four Suits kingdoms.
The four suits all have the same government system. Three separate royal figures represent three seperate Functions. The Kings Are the military leaders, the Queens are the Justice leaders, and the Jacks are the Economic leaders. After that each civilain is granted a number between 2 & 10 to represent magical prowess and social rank which go hand in hand. 2 is the lowest class and 10 is the highest. Finally there is the ace, he/she is hands down the most powerful mage in all of their kingdom, they act as a buffer and protect the people from the three rulers.

The Argossian Empire
Strictly NPC for now. Let me worry about them.

The Jokers
A gang of terrorists or freedom fighters as they would have you believe. They Use both magic and technology but aren't exactly very powerful. Most members are 2's with a few 3's. Two 7's make up the commanders with a 9 as the leader.
Right now only three roles are available but more may come if people choose to join them. Be warned they did earn the title of terrorist, their methods are very extreme.

Leader- x1- Archdemon Archdemon
Commanders- x2- vielpotato vielpotato and Bakuyoshi Bakuyoshi

“(Hello everyone. Heres an idea thats been bouncing around the noggin for a few years. It is supposed to be a 4 part series but we will see how it goes. The four kingdoms have a loose lore for a reason. I want each of your characters to have a piece of the world lore in their cs. YOU make the story here to a certain extent. The only thing i ask is that your characters do not remove free will and have a believable feel to them. I know this sounds like fantasy but its listed in modern/realistic for a reason. We will all be expected to make our characters as "real" as possible. No one is good all the time, or evil for that matter. I want realistic personalities and believable reactions to unrealistic scenarios and unbelievable situations. I hope this tickles someones fancy lets make this a great story you guys. ; ) )”

Hey guys, this is an rp previously made by Agent23 Agent23 that TPBx TPBx and I are rebooting. Although the rp was originally listed in modern, it technically begins with more fantasy themes but still possesses large influences from modernism and industrialisation, especially concerning the Argossian Empire, and can be expected to cross over into modern/realistic territory. We’re looking for a large cast of characters to influence the ever-changing politics of The Four Suits kingdoms. You can look forward to elements of open world creativity and an extensively planned main plot that will affect the entirety of Yune for aeons to come. Will you side with one of the kingdoms, turn traitor with the Jokers, or even aid the Argossian Empire’s reconquest? Here, in The Four Suits Vol.1, you will find your place in the deck.

I'm interested as well! However, I would imagine w this many roles it'll take quite a while before this rp actually starts up right? I would also be interested in learning more abt the dynamics of each role.

I imagine it's setup to create limitations rather than needing them all to be filled, though if need be I'm sure once there's a decent amount of people they can start introducing multiple characters
That said, I'm also interested in joining but I'd also like to know if there's any major facet for the suits that make them distinct from one another?

Heya, I was an Ace in the previous RP so I should be able to answer a few of the questions listed unless the GM plans to switch up a few things. The rankings are system that gauges the strength/status of each individual. For example a government official will hardly ever be of Rank1-3, even if their strength is equivalent, simply because of their position. Of course your power plays much more sway than your position, but it is not an absolute “you’re stronger than him, so you get put above him”.

The more important roles that need to be filled are the Aces, Kings, Queens, Jacks, and the rebels at some point. We started the last one without every position being filled, and were doing okay for some time.

The higher you are in rank, the more powerful you become, to the point that you WILL be considered overpowered. The Aces in the previous thread could level cities in minutes, and mine had almost complete mind control based on sight. I mean, for a lot of the higher ups, consider their strength to be on par with godly. Of course, It also comes with more political sway, and judgement of your character to fill those roles.

As for the difference in each Suit, I believe we had something in place but never set in stone. There was a point we were developing a map and different economic benefits of each area, but I can’t seem to find it in any of the previous threads.

It’s been months so I don’t quite remember the exact specifications that Agent23 had for some of the roles, but my best guess would be that most characters didn’t actually end up having significant parts unless they around 7+. The characters we had below that point were more or less grunts in the military, or civilians who were played by people more interested in the “city life”. We never ended up getting to the major arcs, but I believe that once we had hit those points was when all the roles ended up being much more vital.

The RP has a lot of roles to cover a broad amount of preferences. I’m absolutely certain that this RP needed some tweaks here and there, and I’m more than welcome to changes from the previous RP to accomodate new people. This was a thread and group of characters I enjoyed very much, despite it being so shortlived.

Ah I see thanks for the answers, I'm also one of those people who enjoys playing lower leveled characters but if it's harder to get into the story that way then I may shoot for a higher rank
Edit: Almost forgot to ask, what's the technology level like in the suits kingdom? Is it kind of like a steampunk final fantasy, more medieval-ish, etc.

I wouldn’t particularly say it’s hard to get in the story, if that’s how I came across I apologize. But the political/war waging aspect will encompass the high tiers more than the lower. With how many characters the cast could possibly be, this won’t be a straightforward “there is only one story” type of RP. Stories involving the lower tiers and their roles will happen, but will get much less intervention from people like the Aces.

Technology hasn’t developed too much for the Suits, my character was still using a horse to get around iirc. They still have large structures and castles, but nothing like cars, tanks, planes, etc. The Jokers on the other hand were a little more developed, which was why their low tiers were able to do enough destruction to become notable. Nothing Ace level, but enough of an advancement to be significant. As for specifications, I would leave that up for Kloud to decide since my memory of that is still a bit foggy.

We’ll have a lore page set up soon that should hopefully answer most of everyone’s questions. In terms of ranks/roles, it determines both magical power and social status as the two are intrinsically linked. I believe it’s mentioned in the op, but there are plenty of things for everyone of every rank to do in the rp, this is war after all. Military grunts that luckily survive an assault to then steal an Argossian tank, civilians that accidentally stumble upon the Joker base; we will allow for important sub plots if anyone wishes to plan any. Also bare in mind we’ll have different races and such, which will be put in the lore page too.

Finally there is the ace, he/she is hands down the most powerful mage in all of their kingdom, they act as a buffer and protect the people from the three rulers.

The ace protect people from the king, queen and jack? Why? Is the goverment a tyrant? Or this is some kind of political power check? Who protect the people from the ace themself?

The Ace is the defender of their kingdom and are chosen through a highly selective process to ensure they are able to live up to their duties. The royalty hold much political power over their kingdom, so Aces must make sure they’re decisions are truly for the benefit of the kingdom. If not, then a duel will be arranged that the ace will probably win. So yes, a political power check. Of course, the ace has no actual political power other than advising the royalty, so a corrupt ace cannot exactly cripple its kingdom like the royalty can. If they’re all corrupt then that sucks for that kingdom haha.

The government of a kingdom will only be tryannical if the players who are royalty decide to be. As I previously mentioned, you guys are allowed to shape this world however you want!

In terms of what happens if the ace turns on the people, well I’d assume the other aces would dispose of that ace out of a sense of honour if they felt like it. But realistically, aces are extremely powerful and won’t be taken down particularly easily. I’ll get the lore up soon, but to become an ace you essentially must defeat each member of royalty from your kingdom in a duel plus the previous ace in a combat trial by death. It’s actually quite daunting but it’s what Agent wanted~ ;3

Looks like a fun job XD
Can I be the Ace of club? Also, how many roles a player can take?
You may, and you can have as many characters as you want. Although I would say you can have only one character that’s royalty/an ace. If we happen to not be able to fill up all the spots by the time this starts then I’ll rescind that rule.

Haha, you'll have to find out whether my character will be a swindler or not~

'Economics leader' is a broad term which will be fun to explore :3
It’s really up to you how you want to interpret it. Think along the lines of a head treasurer or merchant guild leader for the kingdom. You’ll handle foreign trade, taxation, the markets, military and infrastructure funding, stuff like that. You may rp that in a lot of detail if you wish and try to super-invest your kingdom into richness, or keep it simple for self-lore purposes and focus on other political/combat preferences.

Kloudy Kloudy unless there is any changes to Ace power limitations, I may just revamp my old character if that’s fine dude.
Edit: Basically just going to make him more benevolent and possibly a few years older.

VioletShadow VioletShadow If ya want to discuss characters and connections with Spade leadership, I’d be more than happy to. Especially once we get more people to fill in the other two spots.

We should probably get a Discord server or at least an OOC page soon, so we can freely discuss character relationships and world building.
