I was first chair in college. In high school I was 4-5th chair. Most parts I played were 2nd.

I am currently in my sophmore year in high school (I be young boi), but I play first part in our show music and a mix of first and second parts for everything else.

I always liked the 2nd part. I hated high notes cause it always sounded like an owl having a hemorrhoid.

If i want to challenge myself, I'll play first, but when I play second, I work more on tone and rhythym.

I play the violin and I recently took up the piano! Hardest part about the piano is learning to play the bass clef. Hardest part about violin is either containing my rage whenever I play canon in D at a wedding, or sight reading. I’ve been playing violin for 8 years and I still suck at sight reading.

I’m also studying music as part of my GCSEs, and it’s quite enjoyable actually.

I play the piano and I’m currently learning the ukulele! It’s only been a few days for the ukulele but it seems simple and straightforward.

The piano was harder for me to grasp cause I’m not so fast/good with my hands. Finger placement can make or break how well you can play a piece. I opt for slower melodies because of this!

I just started the violin! It's super fun! I've been on and off with the piano lol, but I'm sticking to the violin and piano ^^''

At some point, I'll probably end up doing the bass. Decisions, decisions.

So I don't play anymore (because carpal tunnel is a thing and it's awful), but I was a percussionist for about 10 years? Started in 5th grade and played until I was a sophomore in college.

The short answer to that is, what isn't hard? The long answer, it's all pretty difficult. There's a lot more technique that goes into some of the smaller things we play. Bet you didn't know there was a right and wrong way to play the Triangle. People used to think percussionist had it easy because all we do is hit stuff. But you can hit something incorrectly. There's a right and wrong way for everything.

I did enjoy my time in the percussion world. I got to play a lot of pieces with weird things used for sound. The most iconic was a movement from Carmina Buerana where we used beer stines. Pretttty sure we broke one.

I did piano lessons twice, lost my patience and quit both times. Did cello for two years, got bored and quit. Got a uke about two months ago, I don't play it. I just stare at it and feel guilty because I can't find any time in my day for it.

Anyways. I used to sing and write songs. (I'll sing every now and then but nothing full...). Unfortunately this is due to an incident which left me largely embarrassed even though it's been, a good 13 years.

I used to write and sing even though I was the 'quiet' girl in class. Well I took the opportunity to help present some bits of a song idea and found the courage to actually wanting to perform. Teacher had gotten two girls to sing alongside me. Then... My teacher pulled me to the side the day before the show. "Sorry, R.Storytale...you're just too quiet. Best you sit this one out." Naturally, 12 year old me went home in tears and didn't go to the show the following night.

My mommy comes home after the show (because my younger sisters had to go for the class singing thing yadaya.) And she was FIERY.

Turns out my teacher...had brought the girls up to sing. And then proceeded to ask the audience where I was at.

Welp, that turned into quite the story. But don't give up like how I did! If I do ever pick up an instrument, I'd love to learn violin.
