Fandom Harry Potter (small-group idea, plotting)

JustJazzy

Old soul
premise

Harry Potter, Dumbledore, Hermione Weasley - those people all have one thing in common, and that is that they have been dead for so that long the only place they exist is in textbooks and memory.

The world has changed drastically since their time. First, the divide between the muggle world and wizarding world was nearly eradicated in 2045 due to an influx in muggle-wizard children. However, with this intermingling came what pure-blood families had long feared would come to pass, a dilution of wizard-blood potent enough to nearly wipe out the 'superior' wizard race.

Although in this day and age it's hard to find anyone without even a droplet of wizard blood in them, to find a true wizard - someone capable of more feats then the common folk could dream of, someone strong enough to direct their power through one of those archaic 'wands' of old days past - that's a feat in itself.

It's not rare now too see people practicing what little bits of power they possess in public, from putting a glow to their hands, to floating a couple of feet off the ground. Magic is celebrated now as it has never has been before.

But as much as it is celebrated by muggles and purebloods alike, the two still exist in two entirely different worlds. The muggle world holds only people with a touch of magic (not potent enough to do much besides party tricks). And the wizarding world's doors are closed, holding and obscuring from sight the few wizards that remain.

Fortunately - or perhaps unfortunately enough for you, depending on your circumstances - you are one among the minority.

Whether you are a member of a pureblood family whose insistence upon keeping it in the blood has resulted in enough magic (and inbreeding) to last centuries, a muggle-born lucky enough to be born with gifts none understand, or someone with a different story entirely, you have received a letter of invitation to Hogwarts. The wizarding world's doors open, hopefully, to you.

gm notes:
this is just a loosely developed idea/interest check. I'll put more thought into this if it gets attention. It will likely be a small-group rp. I'd also like an antagonist to either organically spring from the characters created or be plotted out before hand. If your interested in brainstorming with me or if you have questions, do dm me or let me know below!

It seems we have just enough interest for me to start creating ooc, cs threads and the such ~

for the spots, I think we should have more pure-bloods then muggle borns at the school. So if your interested in one or the other, do say so, so I can have a clear idea of the rp's characters.
Also, spots can not be reserved.

Are you guys more interested in starting entirely from the beginning, in first-year, or somewhere near the middle?

I'd like to be pure blood if that's okay (maybe related to the Malfoys, as I take it there are no more members of the slytherin bloodline?) and I'd prefer to play somewhere around the fifth year?

I'd prefer for there to be no more canon characters' families around but yes, you may have a pureblood distantly related to the Malfoy's.
At this point most of the pure-blood families are going to be very closely linked anyway lol

love the concept and idea! Haven't seen this kind of HP rp anywhere. I'm interested.

Would prefer a pure or half blood.

I like it so much! Are there spot for teachers and other adults? I don't feel like playing an 11 years old kid. I hope you're going to play the headmaster since she/he is going to be a key role. If professors are not required, I'd like to play a sixth year student. If that's not probable I'll be a first year girl. I want to be part of this at any costs!

There are spots for teachers, if you would like one. Most of them are going to be NPC'S though, with pre-developed personalities and tendencies you'll have to take account of when interacting with them. We will have to discuss incorporating the teacher you'll play more deeply into the plot in some way however, as this rp will mostly revolve around the students.

I will be playing the headmaster (though I'm highly considering making him merely a puppet to the whims of a newly established - by the minister of magic - council of concerned pureblood parents), and it looks like people would like us to start around fifth year! If it seems people can handle their one fifth year character, I'll likely allow them to make 6th years, although the grades beneath 5th only NPC's can be made

So I'd like to play a fifth grade girl in Hufflepuff. Is there any other Hufflepuff characters to share a round common room with her?

How many are we? Maybe it helps to put statistics up. Number of students and how many for each house.
Is there a form for CS?

It looks to be about.. 12-13 of us? That number will either increase or drop though lol.

considering the number of people we have, I think we can afford to have each of the house's decently filled! I'll probably take whatever house is the most lacking for my character, just to keep things even. And.. to get you guys planning, here's a cs sheet with all the info you'll need!

Name:
Gender:
Age:
Sexuality:

Personality:

Year: (5th year, please. Other years may be created with other characters, with my permission.)
Blood Status: (Pureblood, Halfblood, Muggleborn)
House: (I may discuss this with you, and ask that you change houses if we have more characters in one then any other. You do NOT have to do this if you feel strongly enough)

Hair-color:
Eye-color:
Height:

Moral alignment: (think lawful-good, chaotic evil, etc. Note that this can and likely will change over the rp. If you still don't get it, this is a good site to decide: Alignment)
Wand:
Patronus:
Pet: (if, you have one!)
Quidditch position: (optional because not everyone plays!)

History:

Relations: (tbd once accepted though for now you can just put family ones if you'd like.)

You don't have to have all of this complete yet, but I'd like for you guys gto either message me or comment here with a rough idea of what you feel your character will be, just so we can get some statistics and I can eliminate any mary-sue's early on lol.

Also guys, if you'd like to be a muggle-born you'll need to let me know early on as we're going to have more pure and half bloods then muggles.

Do remember if your playing a non-muggleborn that although the wizarding world needs muggles their opinions on them haven't changed much. The prevalent attitude is still deeply prejudiced. They probably look down on the muggle-world even more now (maybe even slightly fear it) for their half-baked version of 'wizard magic'.
