Anime & Manga Who Is YOUR Favourite Anime Character?

I technically have three favorites, but that's mostly because my anime crushes usually translate into my favorite characters for a certain series.

1. Taichi "Tai" Yagami/Kamiya from Digimon Adventure 01, 02, Tri

Honestly, I think half of the reason I like him is the hair. That was the first thing that caught my attention when I first watched Digimon (slash rediscovered the strange giant cactus from my childhood) on NickToons back in the summer before seventh grade. That was how I first met the love of my life, though I was first blinded by Yamato "Matt" Ishida's cool-ass hair. (I have since learned my lesson.)

It's really hard to describe why Tai is my favorite. His character progression throughout the series has always interested me, not to mention the manner in which he grows up throughout the three seasons. Most of what makes him my favorite, though, is how much value he puts in others. My heart broke every time something made him sad or hurt him in any way. And his reunion with Agumon in Tri? Made me cry in both sub and dub (mostly dub, though, since Joshua Seth will forever be the voice I associate with him). I don't know. I think he's one of the best anime characters I've ever come across, and I hope the last Tri movie makes him so much more awesome.

As for shipping, I ship him with myself. I only jokingly ship him with Matt if the scene calls for it or the fanart happens to make it really adorable.

2. Rogue Cheney from Fairy Tail

Okay, first of all, that ponytail.

I'm going to be real: I used to HATE Rogue. For the most part, I hated Sting more, but Rogue was actually the type of character I wanted to punch in the face. I'm not sure what instigated the switch from Hate to Secondary Husbando, but I think it started with the fact that he redeemed himself. Unlike the rest of his guild, he didn't like hurting people. He only had one goal in mind, and that was to fight Gajeel Redfox. Then the whole thing with his future self happened and kinda screwed it all up.

Rogue is one of my favorite anime characters because he's so genuine with everything he does. I mean, he also shows an intense affection for Frosch, who is the CUTEST little Exceed ever. What's not to love about a guy who loves his cat? All around, Rogue is a cool guy. And I love seeing him smile.

Again, I ship him with myself. But some of the fanart of him and Sting is freaking hilarious.

3. Elliot Nightray from Pandora Hearts

Oh, my heart. My poor heart. Elliot is that kind of guy who you want to hug and never let go of.

Half of my beef with Pandora Hearts (which is seriously my favorite manga series) is that all of the characters turn into hypocrites or lose sight of whatever goal they had. Elliot, however, does not. I often explain to people that Elliot is the only one "with any morality" in the series. And I believe that's very true. He's noble and selfless and every type of pissy bad boy that I love. He affects the series in the most profound way, and I was seriously crying throughout the entire thing because of that effect.

My favourite character at this point in time has to be Zero Two from Darling in the Franxx. It might be because she reminds me of one of my own OCs, but I liked her ever since her first moment on the screen. Without going into spoiler territory, she's a very deep character in my opinion, having a troubled past. The way she acts is so entertaining and playful that it can't help but make me smile, and seeing her sad/lonely makes me sad too.

The only reason that I know who she is (and by extension, why I know the anime) is really because of some memes I saw on Reddit lolol. I know, crazy right? XD

It might be really boring, but I ship her with her canon partner, who is none other than Hiro of course! After watching what there is of the anime so far, I can't see her with anyone else.

Ohoho, I get to spout opinons and babble about my favorite anime character? Heck yeah my dude.

I'll be doing the questions out of order, because reasons.

I found Vash the stampede whilst browsing netflix one year and hitting upon the Diamond that is the anime Trigun, this anime completely captivated me to the point of where schooling was pretty hard to focus on, well, at least for the two days I spent watching it. The anime was only twenty six episodes but left a vast (or vash if you want to go there.) hole in my heart, which only soon was filled with the love of characters like the main protagonist.

As for why I love this character? Oh dear, he shows actual growth despite being completely better than every other gunman or character within the show, by better, I don't mean subjectively cooler or etc, I mean that he is leagues above every single person he duels in the show, yet shows humility and fear not only for his life, but their own. Vash the stampede is a character that a lot of people consider the 'Overpowered' or 'perfect' protagonist, but he's far from it. Vash shows the complexity of humanity in the fact that he is so caught up in his own silly sense of morals that he can't let himself just stomp through every bit of opposition. There are scenes in this anime that show just how fragile the human psyche is, and shows how much morals can mold our potential, as potential isn't only a physical aspect, but how far our morals and thoughts allow us to move forward with it. A particular scene about halfway through the anime ( Don't worry I'm not going to spoil the anime at all.) is where Vash is ambushed, only to suddenly shoot all of these men in the chest, incapacitating or heavily wounding them. His immediate reaction isn't to run and find safety, but to apologize and take the immense amount of time to treat each and every one of their bullet wounds, chastising himself and nearly crying due to the fact he was so slow as to only be able to shoot them all as a reaction. He is leagues above characters, has a stable sense of strength in his core character, but his main core isn't to just be the protagonist and win, it's so show that resolve of morals in of itself is just as strong if not stronger than any potential one can have, Vash shows the fragile majesty of humanity within the fact that he well, doesn't kill people, no matter what he believes everyone deserves that second chance.

Eh, To be honest no I don't ship him with anyone, mostly due to the fact it's kind of a core of his character to be alone.

Froppy. I assume this needs no explanation as to who they are for you, M u n e ? The reason is quite obvious, methinks, why I like them so much. Haven't finished the whole anime yet, just started, but I'd ship Froppy with Takoyami. Frog x Bird, ..., yeah. ?

Also possibly Froppy x Toru Hagakure.

Oh lord I have a few that are my favorite. The favorite character of mine will forever be Sailor Moon from Sailor Moon! I first started watching her sometime in elementary school and just fell in love with the show. And I see a lot of myself in Usagi lol!! I think that is why I like her so much. Even though she is a crybaby she is still really strong and overall great person.

But right now I’m in too deep with My Hero Academia! Im caught up on all the eps and starting th manga. I absolutely adore Kaachan and Uraraka at the moment. Though Midoriya was my first favorite when I started watching the show. Simply because he was the underdog and was fighting his way to make his dreams come true and prove everyone else wrong!

As much hate as i am going to get, my favorite anime character of all times is Lucy from Fairy Tail. She is an amazing character who may seem silly and goofy but is also so strong and you see her getting stronger through the anime and the manga. She also represents someone I wouldn't mind being more like. Yeah she is a little self absorbed but she is there when it counts. She may not be the strongest wizard yet but she is already shown signs of great magic. She is also someone who is there to cheer someone up should they need and never gives up on a friend shown with Loke.

Also who didn't cry at this scene. I am not going to say what happened due to spoilers but it broke my heart and does over and over again.

Todoroki Shouto from Boku no Hero Academia/My Hero Academia!
( Aka one of the few BNHA characters I can pen )

In all honesty, it took me a rewatch and some things happening in real life for me to like Todoroki, but he definitely became my favourite anime character afterwards. I appreciate the character progression he's undergone and seeing him try to incite the same for others. Besides, I have to be honest. I'm weak for that two-toned hair and the fact that a fire/ice user has to actually mind their internal temperature when using their powers. Much appreciated.

I found out about BNHA/Todoroki on my own, actually. I just sort of saw a picture of Izuku and said 'Eh, I've got nothing better to do.' Then Todoroki eventually showed up and well, hated him the first go round, loved him the second. I have some regrets though because I'm way too dang invested at this point.

...Everybody. Really I have a bunch of ships for this boy and really don't give a hoot. But I mean, Midoriya and Todoroki is always good stuff, not gonna lie.

Ooh my god, hands down Gin from Hotarubi no Mori e (Into the Forest of Fireflies' Light). He's not from a series, but a movie. I cried my little eyes out when I watched it and was actually pretty upset for the rest of the night after viewing it. I don't really want to give anything away, but I'd highly recommend the movie if you're into tearjerkers.

My favorite character tends to change constantly, but Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho was the first anime character I really obsessed over, and the one who started my downhill spiral into fangirling over fictional characters.

Roy Mustang from FMA also holds a special place in my heart!

My favorite character will have to be Itachi Uchiha. I respect the fact he did care for his family but wanted him to become stronger. Or at least that is how I see it. I never saw him as a bad guy. There was several times he could have killed several characters. But, not once did he do it. It was like he stopped the enemy from harming him. He was one that seemed to carry a neutral attitude and never seems to lose his cool. I cried when he died trying to assist his own brother.

My favourite anime character has to be Izuku ((Deku)) Midoriya from My Hero Academia! I can't help it! He's an adorable cinnamon roll. Not to mention his amazing smarts and his nature to be rather observant. I love how he puts others before himself in even the most dangerous situations, like when he rescued Kacchan, multiple times, despite Kacchan hating his guts and how serious the scenarios were. I mean, the fricken boy could've died! But he didn't! Because he's awesome and perseverant. Not to mention his little freckles. Oohhh his freckles~ To me he just stands out as a really original protagonist, and even though the boy has some faults, and by some a mean a lot, I still really love the effort put into him.

I found out about Izuku from my friend! She'd recommended to me MHA a while ago, and barely five minutes into the prologue and intro, I fell in love.

Hm, I could pair Deku up with a bunch of people! Say liiike, maybe Uraraka? Or Kacchan? Maybe even Todoroki? Yes. Definitely Todoroki. I mean, have you seen that bond between them. Oof.

but I guess I would say one of my favorites would be Takeo from My love Story!!

1: He's scary and giant yet so kind and gentle. Why wouldn't anybody love him?!

2: I randomly decided to watch the anime and that's how I discovered him. Anime is up above.

I actually ship him with the person he is dating in the show. They are so cute together and they are probably one of the best animated couples out there.

Yeah, he's the type of character who you either love or hate.

But, I really can't explain why in a quick, easy way. He's a flawed, but lovely character. I certainly don't condone a lot of the things he does throughout his series, but I do admire how much effort he puts into his beliefs, even though I disagree with them. They're twisted and they hurt people, but he does them out of good intentions, which makes him hard to hate. I guess it all started because I felt really bad for him. He'd been alone most of his life. The world abandoned him and it warped him into something scary, but it's hard to see him as anything other than hurting. Still, I know if one collected the pieces of his shatter self and glued him all back together again, one would find something warm, kind, and selfless. He's a good guy gone wrong. I wanted to figure out why he did the things he did despite his occasional flashes of kindness and pain, and I guess I just got attached to him in my search. He's also inspired me to reach out to the people around me, so that no one feels alone. I'm pretty sure I found out about him through anime memes, which introduced me to Danganronpa when I was in middle school. I don't really pair him with anyone, but I do wish he found someone kind to love so he doesn't feel so alone to death. I really hate the Junko x Komaeda ship, though, just because of how unhealthy and cruel it is.

I still find it hard to understand him sometimes, but all he has to do is do something adorable, and I can't stay mad at him. X'D


My Ultimate favourite character has to be Kokichi Ouma.


1) Why are they your favourite?
There is just so much to analyze. At first I just thought he was cute and funny, but I didn't give him enough credit in the very beginning. He gets blamed for a lot of stuff unfairly, both inside and outside the game, and as I watched, I started to notice that more and more. He would do something that seemed out of order, but upon re-watching the scene, I'd notice other characters blowing it out of proportions, and ultimately making him look like the bad guy.
He isn't perfect, and has his flaws, mainly trust issues, and a compulsion to lie, and he seems kind of socially inept/unaware, letting his sense of humour and coping mechanisms land him on the wrong side of the people around him. But it's so painfully clear that all he wants is to get as many people out of the situation alive as possible.

2) How did you find out about them? What anime are they from?
Kind of cheating, since Dangan Ronpa V3 is a game, but the other Dangan Ronpa games have had anime adaptations in one way or another, so V3 may get something in the future as well. It's a murder mystery game, where 16 highschool students are locked inside a school, and forced to kill each other in order to escape. So fun times! I found out about him through friends who were obsessing over the game.

3) Do you ship them with anyone in particular?
Not really? I expected to ship him with Kiibo

They entered the situation together, and are super adorable, and I love their dynamic, but I don't really get a romantic vibe from it. Kokichi flirts with just about everything, and although Kiibo seems to care for him especially, it seems more platonic than anything else.

He kind of singles Himiko out a lot too with his flirting

But again it doesn't seem 100% right. She does seem to reciprocate a little bit, but she seemed flattered more than anything else, and she wasn't really talking to Kokichi himself at that point. The rest of the time, she seems to hate him.

And then there's Miu, Shuichi and Rantaro. He is hilariously savage with Miu, but it's funnier to just watch them tear each other apart verbally than to ship them.

He frequently calls Shuichi his 'favourite' and says he loves him the most, but I really dislike the way Shuichi treats him in return.


And he has a wax figure of Rantaro hanging from his bedroom ceiling. Because he's extra af and just. Goddamnit Kokichi. -.-U


...He also has a horse head mask on his bed, and a bunch of stolen/hoarded stuff everywhere because why not.

But overall, I think the 'flirting' is just playful, and he doesn't really have any romantic feelings for any of them. It's just how he shows affection without coming across as sincere.

Don't hate me for bringing up a Naruto character, but ever since his episode debuted on TV, Itachi Uchiha has been my #1.

Why are they my favorite? Well, I found him to be incredibly strong, and later on, having one of the most saddening and complex backstories. Even Masashi Kishimoto himself sympathized with Itachi's struggles and sacrifices. It makes me so sad haha

And in terms of pairings, I'm a sucker for crack ships so I tended to ship him most with Hinata Hyuga. Also, the rest of the Akatsuki which is pretty obligatory.

My favorite is Greed from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood! I guess he's my favorite because he has a nice little arc across the series that works really well with everything that's going on! I actually found out about Greed through spoilers thanks to a friend who thought I'd seen it, but I didn't mind because it gave me something to look forward to! I can't say that I pair Greed with anyone except Ling platonically - I think they make really nice friends!
