Aato Hi! I'm a little confused about the "past life" part of our characters' histories. Did the zodiacs become children to be adopted and they grew up? Or were they already born human, just with the spirit of the zodiac inside them, or something along those lines? Sorry if I make this question confusing. I'm just wondering how their past lives would be.

Aato Yeah, I had a similar question to Zenosyne. I was wondering if our character's history would be about their life in the mythological realm or as a human, and also how exactly did they become a human, to quote Zenosyne,

Great question. So, after some long deliberation, I think I've come up with a simple answer: Their spirits have been dropped into the bodies and lives of already-existing people (body mods could be things that developed with the introduction of the spirit into the body or things they went to have modified).

I literally spent over 30 minutes just thinking about how to answer because I got so indecisive. xD

EDIT: I decided it's probably important everyone sees this for when they get ready to write their histories. You might need this info.

So would it mean that one's character possess their regular human conscious and the conscious of the zodiac spirit?

Omg you're awesome.
So I chose The Rat. Key words: opportunist, quick-tempered, critical, charming, imaginative.

I'm torn because I feel like the first option would be a perfect opportunist, with the dyed hair and tattoos. She's also got a pretty face, and I thought looked the part for charming.

However, Lyndsy is absolutely gorgeous (IMO) and I can definitely see her as quick tempered and charming, due to what I've seen her in (TV show Nikita, great show).

So I'm torn. xD

Oooh! These face claims both complement the Rat's personality. However I seem to be swaying toward the Circa Suicide face claim more. Her tattoos and piercings do highlight her opportunistic trait and her face and large eyes make her seem energetic whilst Lyndsy gives off a more 'fierce' vibe. If you do use Circa you could say she designed her tattoos herself adding to the creative trait, assuming the animals of the Chinese Zodiacs were put into humans who were similar to them. Personally, I think Circa is a much more memorable face claim for the rat. (I shall check out Nikita.)

Nikita is amazing! One of my favorite shows, definitely. You're right, Lyndsy does give off a more fierce vibe, whereas Circa looks to be more creative and more open. Thank you very much, you've helped me decide!!

You are both correct!

They will have to learn to fit into the lives of the person who's body they've been placed in. And they do have consciousness of both - they know they are the particular zodiac, but are also aware that they are now in some human's body.

EDIT: They may have some recollection of the life they're infiltrating, like a few vague memories or deja vu.

Y'all are really throwing me these detail curveballs.

In the story of The Great Race (the mythology in focus of the way the zodiac's got their placement), The Rat essentially sabotaged The Cat, which is why The Cat did not make it on the calendar. The Dog lied about why he came late. The Snake used The Horse... and there are probably a few other discrepancies in the story. The Jade Emperor, being the kind and helpful soul he is, disapproved of these behaviors once he found out and decided to humble the animals with a punishment.

I would like to reserve my original animal, I'm less busy nowadays so I'm able to be more active on here now and I really like the story idea~
