Got it. I think getting to meet and have a conversation with the entity about her father and such would be an important scene for her, but unless it adversely affects the plot I don't think there's a need to plan the specifics of it until they're already really deep into the Abyss.

Perfect. Probably won’t need the mind control bit though. Anybody with familiarity with the abyss would be prioritized for recruitment. A intelligent creature from the abyss very much would be included there!

They are for sure not popping up to say hello or anything. I don’t wanna spoil the precise details about another person’s backstory, but I thought it would be a fun opportunity to establish a link there so worth sharing. Let’s just say they have their eyes set on someone. You probably won’t even notice unless you look super hard for it haha.

I wasn't really planning on it being any more involved than a one-scene character development and possible power-up kinda thing, but if you think it's necessary for the plot then I suppose.

Nah it’s a snekk boyo. Something we decided to keep from one of Echo’s old character’s backstory. I don’t suffer from that much souls brainrot lmao! I’m seeing reasons why the potential plot I got excited about can’t even happen chronologically so pretend ya never saw this

Hyphae Vaimi would be super curious about Petra's magic if she doesn't end up finding them annoying ^^; Plus they suffer from a similar responses to channeling large amounts of magic, so I'm sure they could learn a thing or two from Petra ^^

I don't think Vaimi will really be partaking in romance, and besides depending on culture they're either a weird child or a weird old lady, so not sure how it would work anyway ^^; But they're all for making close friends as long as they're not narrow-minded, and especially if they're magically inclined. Assuming they don't find Vaimi to be a pain ^^

Though given my characters station, I doubt that will be too easy for Carolus. As a prince, he has to factor in the good of the Kingdom when choosing a potential wife. Can't always afford to follow his heart.

The more interesting conflict might be the church's view on the matter, given them placing their bets on Carolus. Easily tying in with the placement of Mari in the firstplace.

The Church supporting Carolus because they think he is the best candidate for stability is one thing... and they sent Lorelei along to help guide him... but what about those within that supported the tyrant King in the first place? Be they hidden in the shadows or not... Why shouldn't they send someone to do the opposite? Regardless of whether the pawn is knowing or unknowing... someone sent the bodyguard to "protect" the prince. And while the bodyguard may think the are helping. I definitely feel like, if the Church backs him and then reluctantly assigns someone they view as heretical and demonic to protect him, and he turns around and falls for them, the political and religious ramifications and tensions resulting from that could be super interesting to explore- I definitely enjoy themes of 'societal/religious/familial expectations vs. individual desires'.

I definitely feel like, if the Church backs him and then reluctantly assigns someone they view as heretical and demonic to protect him, and he turns around and falls for them, the political and religious ramifications and tensions resulting from that could be super interesting to explore- I definitely enjoy themes of 'societal/religious/familial expectations vs. individual desires'.

The concept opens up quite the can of worms.

For Lorelei, being her position, might she suspect the abyssal is there as act of sabotage? Does she have proof? Is Mari complicit? If not, what then? Desiderus was an important figure of the church, and one who had a similar curse. He was a wise and devout follower, and loyal to the church... how might his story effect her views on if Mari is worth trying bringing her light or if she might be too dangerous? A butting of the heads, surely... an angel on one shoulder, a devil on the other. But worse still... someone set up this act of sabotage... who and why? At least she is here to keep 5hat plot from.coming to fruition.

For Mari, her curse. Its what some people might be banking on to end this Princes future. Even if Mari does not know she is a pawn... how well can she hold onto herself? Would she want to? The deeper down into the abyss she goes, and the greater the darkness... the darkness may prove all too tempting. At that point, would she even want to bother with the light? Would she develop feelings for the Prince? Would it matter? Would she try to bring him into the darkness that her curse is beckoning her towards? Or would she try all the harder to hold onto light? And if she learns that she was but a pawn in a scheme, and that who placed her there expected her to fail... what then?


For the Prince... who he develops feelings would indeed create a great deal of contention. As stated before, his duties prevent him from romance at a whim. Would it make a difference if he felt that strongly about someone? And if the result would mean a detriment to the country and stability of it, could he in good conscious allow it? Or would he need to make that sacrifice for the people he is to reign over in the future. As well, his belief in the Church, how far would he go in holding out hope for an individual? If someone where falling to darkness, a friend, a loved one, family... how far might he go to help bring them back?








As a suggestion who might be behind this scheme....

By means unscrupulous and immoral, he is aiming to win. Using contacts within the Church, blackmail, leverage, corruption... whatever the means, he pulled strings to see that someone would be assigned to his brother to make things that much more difficult... or kill him outright.
