Fantasy Blood & Ruin (A Fantasy Role-play)(OOC/Sign-Ups)

At first the world was nothing - a blank slate, void of all colour and life. This blank slate was a canvas for The Creator, painting his world with whatever he had desired. Lush forests, vast valleys, and endless oceans, there was no limit to what The Creator had envisioned. Once the landscapes were painted, it was now time to populate the world with his children. In a lone, massive desert, far from any forest and oceans, sprouted a plant. This plant soon began to grow, growing larger and larger until it became a tree. A tree that was much more monstrous than any other. It’s branches stretched across the sky, visible from the horizon and its leaves large enough to cover lakes. The tree, once fully grown, began to bear fruit. The first fruit fell from the branches of the tree to the world below, smashing it to pieces as it hit the desert sand. Out of this fruit, came a being - the first of its kind, this was The Creator’s plan. To give birth to the inhabitants of the world, through the Creation Tree. As each fruit fell to the world, each one gave birth to a new being, and the world as we know it, began to take form.

Location: Continent of Aras | Country: Salos

The World has entered the Third Era. Currently in the midst of a Civil War, the King of Salos, known as King Gabriel, is warring with the rebellion group known as Grandora. Diaz, the leader of this rebellion group, is currently gaining a lot of traction in the country, vowing to end King Gabriel’s reign, and become the leader of the country in his place. Diaz offers the people of Salos a much more aggressive approach to international affairs, compared to King Gabriel. Wanting to invade other countries, and expand his empire, Diaz claims that other countries will take advantage of King Gabriel’s passive nature, and it’s only a matter of time before Salos becomes the receiving end of a dispute among countries. Although some people side with Diaz, many people consider his approach to be too extreme, evident in current events, where his forces have been razing and taking over villages and towns, in an effort to expand his rebellion’s hold on the country. As of right now, Grandora has most of their captured regions within the north-eastern part of the country, however, they have been slowly making their way to central Salos, as well as reports of some forces being seen in western Salos as well. As of right now, only time will tell of how the war will be played out, and whether or not we continue to be ruled under Gabriel, or possibly Diaz.

Welcome to my role-play! Blood & Ruin is set in a typical medieval/fantasy setting, and is not part of any existing franchise/series. Because of this, there will be lots of world building, and I will update the Lore as I see fit.

The role-play will currently begin in the town of Bellus. As it was stated in the beginning of the post, the country is currently in the middle of a civil war, with the rebellion group known as Grandora being the main antagonist. Bellus however, is located in the southern-central portion of the country, where it has been largely unaffected by the war at this point in time. Because of this, the town has still been quaint and bustling with people continuing their day-to-day lives. There has been a large presence of guards sent from the Royal Capital to increase a bit of security in the town, just as a safety precaution. There are markets, farmland, as well as various other businesses located in town such as a blacksmith, mills, etc. Here are part of Bellus, more in-depth:

The Bunberry District
This is where the wealthy or noble citizens reside. Located on the northern end of town, this area is generally smaller than the other districts, comprised of large manors and gated communities. Although not uncommon to see non-wealthy citizens around here, there is not much to do other than look at houses or simply take a walk around.

The Hive District
The largest of all districts. The Hive is the name given to the entire district of this city. This district houses everything such as businesses, residential neighborhoods, and the local church is also located here, where people read the Book of Creation. This district is the one area anyone can be seen at because of the multitude of things to do. The blacksmith are also located here, as well the theatre where actors will perform and participate in plays for the public to enjoy. The central market place is usually the busiest in this district, where street-vendors will be located alongside smaller businesses and children playing around near the city fountain. It also in this central marketplace where executions will also take place.

The Willows
The worst district in Bellus. Here is where the poorer citizens reside. Although some areas in this neighborhood are not that bad, much of it is filled with crime and shady activity. Generally speaking, the people here do not make much money and some are pushed into this district when they cannot pay enough to keep living in the other districts. Rumors also state that a certain powder-like drug known as Salva is also being made here and distributed.

The Outfields
Although outside the city, it is still technically a part of the city due to its location. Here is where the farmland is located, where crops grow and the local farm produce for businesses and vendors to buy and sell. There is also a mine located out here, where the miners work. It should also be noted that there is a cemetery located out here. Other than that, there is not much else here, and it is essentially this area that cuts off Bellus from the rest of the world. What lies beyond, is a grassy landscape with few trees littered about.

Although there are Non-Human races that exist (such as Elves), these races are not going to be playable. I'm trying to flesh out the Lore for these races throughout the role-play, and so that's why they will be locked for the time being. Magic also exists in this role-play, but not at the beginning of this role-play. If players wish to learn magic, I will make it available as the RP progresses, for select players. But for now, do not worry about it. Monsters will also exist (monsters as in, non-animal creatures), and I will be creating a monster-index of sorts for these creatures.

4DOBjRb.jpg

Your character is currently a citizen of the town of Bellus. How they got there, is up to you. It’s possible they were born there, travelled there for work, or came from another country. What they do for work, or their day-to-day life, is also up to you! I will note, this role-play IS an adventure role-play. Because of this, keep in mind when making your character, as the story will force them to travel away from Bellus at some point, due to the war.

Rules + World Rules

1. All Forum Rules Apply
2. This is a rather darker roleplay, so I guess I rate it “m” for all the usual stuff (swearing, some gore, adult themes). Please don't abuse this, and use it as an excuse to swear excessively or be crude or vulgar. I rated it this, to give a bit more freedom with writing.
3. No godmodding. As said before, this is not an RP about fighting, but make the fighting realistic. If your character got hit, make sure you describe they actually got hit and not just shook it off like it was nothing ( a punch to the face does hurt).
4. No having multiple characters
5. No bunnying other characters without permission. However, something I do allow, is for you to bunny my character if you need to (you don’t have to ask me, unless you think it is something out of the ordinary for my character to do).
6. Not really a rule, but please give me critique if you don’t like something. For example, if you guys absolutely hate the whole chapter thing, then please let me know and I will most likely scrap it. With that said, if you have an idea for a chapter or want to have one revolving around your own character or whatever, please let me know.
7. Once again, not really a rule, however, I should note that this roleplay is not based around any existing franchise of the sort. It is simply my own creation.

Name
Hainer Adhan Moradi

Age
30

Gender
Male

Appearance

MjxZBvo.jpg

Hainer stands tall, being around 191cm. Working in a local mill and the docks by the lake from a young age and generally working out, has given Hainer a rather strong and muscular build at around 14.5-15 Stone (92-93kg/199-205lbs). His hair is black and somewhat short, and slightly messy. He is generally clean shaven on the face, rarely growing out his beard. In terms of imperfections, there are no real or overbearing blemishes or acne on his face, however, he has one long scar that extends from his left eye, to the side of his head due to an accident when he was younger. His eyes are dark in colour, and his skin is a bit swarthy.

Working as a Guard of the Royal Capital, Hainer can often be seen in his work clothes. Although he does indeed have 'formal' armour as do all the Guards, he opts to go for a simpler route with his uniform. Firstly, he were the standard tunic that all guards are obligated to wear. A vibrant red-coloured long sleeve tunic, with one half of the tunic being white. The sleeves of the tunic are cuffed, and the tunic itself stops right at the waist, rather than go further down his body. Instead of wearing a breastplate or bulkier armour, Hainer opts to wear short-sleeved chainmail on top of his tunic, which many guardsmen do, since the rules state only the recognizable red and white tunic has to be showing. On his forearms, he wears steel bracers/gauntlets while on shift, as well as a sword belt that slings around the front of his body, and around his torso. This is where he carries his standard Kale-issued longsword, as do most guardsmen. For his bottoms, he sports slightly-baggy, light brown pants with dark brown boots. He occasionally wears his short-sleeved uniform as well, which is essentially the same as his long sleeved tunic.

When Hainer isn't working, he can be seen wearing a button up, cream-coloured tunic, with the sleeves ending right before his elbows, similar in style to his work uniform. The sleeves are cuffed, and the tunic stops at the waist similar to his uniform. On top of this cream tunic, he wears a white Vest, with a red-violet colour for the inside of the vest, and gold trim on the outside. As for the bottom portion of his body, he generally sticks to his usual light brown pants, with the same dark brown boots.

Personality
Growing up working in different labour jobs, Hainer understands the discipline needed to work hard, and more importantly, to make a living. This is usually made apparent in his day to day life, where he generally helps out people who need it. Whether it be running an errand for someone, or helping elderly folk with something. He enjoys sparking up conversation with random people, and more often than not, gives people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to certain things. Because of this, there have been many times when he has been ripped off, or has the wool pulled over his eyes and taken advantage of. Despite this, it can be said that he is a rather just person by nature when it comes down to it, especially when it comes to his job. For example, dealing with people everyday, he definitely runs into a few bad apples who break the law. He will try to deal consequences accordingly on his own, depending on the situation.

Hainer is generally a logical person, however, he can be rattled easily if one were to push the right buttons. He often gets into physical altercations with those who act disrespectful, or otherwise are looking for a fight. Although this happens more so when he's working, there have been several times where certain townsfolk will probe or egg him on when he's off shift, in an attempt to rile him up. Because of this, he tends to stay to himself most of the time, his only friends really being the other guardsmen.

If its another major fault that Hainer has, is his ability to follow orders without question. Although this may not sound all that bad, it is worth noting that he will follow the orders of his superiors without asking too many questions, simply considering it to be apart of his job. For example, if he were to give someone a warning for stealing, and his superior stepped in and commanded him to throw the suspect behind bars, then he would generally go with his superior's orders. This is due to his immense respect for the country, King Gabriel, his superiors, and his peers. It can be said that he believes everything the King does, is for the good of the nation and the people.

All in all, Hainer does strive to be a good citizen, and does take his work seriously. Although he can find it hard to distinguish the line at times, it would be lying to say that his personality doesn't leak through to both his work and personal life more often than not. This is something he has been working on, and needless to say, is harder than it sounds.

History
Hainer has a lived a very average life. His father and mother came to the Royal Capital of Salos, Kale, from an eastern nation over 30 years ago as a young couple, where they settled down in their new home. His father quickly found work at the local lumber mill, where Hainer would find himself often spending his days there doing whatever his father told him to do, whether that be chopping some wood, moving wood pieces, etc. Whatever he could muster up to keep his son busy. His mother had left when he was just a young boy, which meant that if Hainer wasn't outside playing with other kids, he was at work where his father could keep an eye on him. It was at his mill that Hainer would be spending much of the next phase of his life, before alternating between the two jobs and also working at the lakeside docks whilst doing work at the mill. Tough labour work definitely shaped his work ethic to what it is today, knowing the value of working hard to earn a living.

It wasn't until around reaching adulthood, where his father would succumb to a disease. Despite his father having many brothers and sisters, they did not live within close distance, leaving Hainer all alone in the world. It was around this phase, where Hainer fell into some hard times, trying to grasp and navigate the world on his own. It took a bit of adjusting, but the days of working in the mill and docks never felt the same once his father had passed, and thus pursued something different, leading him to work as a Guard of Salos. Not only did he find the work to be more rewarding, the extra coin he was making definitely improved the quality of life for him, as the days of working long sweaty hours was behind him. As of right now, he lives by himself in a small house by the edge of town. He was situated in Bellus a few months ago, as the Royal Capital had sent him and numerous other Guardsmen to keep guard in the town of Bellus due to the war.

Weapon
Hainer often carries around his work-issued weapon, which is the Longsword. It has a special handle on it, with a design resembling a Lion, symbolizing the royal capital of Salos, Kale.

Other
Hainer is the name given to him by his mother, and that's the name he is generally known by. Adhan is also his name, and was given to him by his father. His mother's current whereabouts is unknown, even to Hainer.

Name:
Oswyn Hirshfield

Age:
25

Gender:
Male

Appearance:
Scholar.jpg
(Art by Drkav on DeviantArt)

Oswyn is a young man who stands at a comfortable 5 foot 11 (180.34cm) and while he may be of average height, the man finds himself being much skinnier than others. He weighs approximately 13 Stone (80kg or 177Ibs). Almost zero of his body is built with muscles in mind, giving him a slender and knowledgable look. Not being able to properly grow facial hair, Oswyn often shaves what little stubble he gains as soon as he can, finding the extra hair scratchy and an annoyance. A lot more care and attention are put into his long, chestnut brown locks that flow from his scalp. Smooth and straight, it reaches down to his upper back and Oswyn plans to continue its growth. His skin is a light almond, bearing little to no blemishes. Oswyn’s hazel eyes shine with a hunger for knowledge, and his pointed eyebrows give him a bit more of a fierce look.

For outfits, Oswyn tries to dress as clean and orderly as possible. He wears tunics and long-sleeved shirts like most of the other villagers but with a small touch here or there to distinguish himself a bit more. Perhaps a red sash tied around his waist, or a simple tassel dangling from his collar. As he is far from being the richest in town, the man makes do with what he can. The colors are usually darkened, choosing blues and browns, reds and blacks, to give himself an authoritative look, especially around the schoolyard where none of the children seem to take him seriously.

Personality:
Oswyn is a man who fully invested his life in the way of knowledge. When you want to see passion and excitement escape his mouth, simply start a conversation with the man about historical battles, theories on the world, or even just how the local bear population is faring. He can speak for hours on such things, often losing himself and getting giddy. This usually causes the other conversational partner some awkwardness when they want to escape from the constant droning.

Outside of his comfort of studies, Oswyn is a rather coarse individual. If a noble has a silver tongue then Oswyn would have some type of rust coating his. He’s blunt and doesn't mince words, not particularly caring who or where you are from. He may make attempts to be respectful and courteous to those of higher station than him, but that’s mostly done so he won’t get punished and not out of true respect. If you are one of his students, prepare for a tongue lashing during any minute of the hour. Along with his boldness comes a hot temper, easily set off by those who disregard his words or show him ill will. Upon first becoming a teacher, this frightened the children first but now…now they know his weakness. Oswyn is completely all bark and no bite. He may scream of punishments and extra lessons but the man almost never goes through with them. A tad of a pushover, Oswyn will find himself recoiling if his bad mouth ever gets him in actual trouble, or perhaps, a counter scolding.

Oswyn enjoys simple pleasures. A glass of ale or wine, a good book, and a warm fireplace will put him in a fantastic mood. Sadly the man may be a wiz in recipes and the concept of cooking, but he could never put it into theory. A terrible cook, he finds himself eating simple meals that only require heat and a little mixing (soups, broths, things of that nature.) On weekends, the man likes to go to the local tavern and socialize with others. He has a small group of friends he grew up with and Oswyn values sharing a real meal with them every once in a while.

Background:
Oswyn was born to Dalila Hirshfield. Dalila was Bellus born and bred and was currently working at a small bakery in The Hive District. Unfortunately, many complications arose during her pregnancy and she would later pass away during childbirth. Oswyn’s father was unknown, thought to have been a traveling bard or adventurer that swept Dalila off her feet. This in turn brought little Oswyn straight to his grandparents' doorstep. His grandmother, Felicia Hirshfield, and his grandfather, Dale Hirshfield were also familiar residents of Bellus, having moved to the town way back when they were a young couple. They lived in one of the smaller neighborhoods in The Hive District, further away from the market area than others. His grandmother was a cleaner/maid, often traveling all the way to The Bunberry District for work while his grandfather owned a small bookshop, mostly containing fictional stories and tall tales.

Growing up, Oswyn found multiple issues showing up with his health. He was abnormally skinny and quite lethargic. The indoors were his friend from early years and on as the boy would help his grandmother clean or read fantasy novels at his grandfather's bookshop. He opted to do this rather than roughhousing with the local boys who only seemed to want to be covered in mud and sweat 24/7. It wasn’t until he started school that he would make a few friends who would stick with him all the way into adulthood.

He had little romance growing up, preferring to keep to his studies and fester his brain with any logic he could cram into it. His teen years were spent going to the local library and reading there in favor of Dale's bookshop. Mathematical theories? History of the kingdom? Nothing was safe from the young man. Eventually, it was his time to graduate, and while many of the young boys and girls would simply move on with their lives, grabbing whatever job closest to them, Oswyn took it a step forward and pursued higher education. In the coming years, he would lose his grandfather and grandmother to old age. He could not afford to keep the bookshop running and decided to sell it while keeping any of the current stock of books. He promised himself to read at least one of those books a year, in honor of his faithful grandparents who raised him with love and attention. While he may have gotten into the occasional argument with them, Felicia and Dale were two people for who Oswyn would often let down his guard and show absolute respect.

Once he was finished with his higher education, he came back to Bellus and took over the house where he grew up. He nabbed a job in teaching, though glowered at the statement that he’d be teaching children and not older students. The kids, while initially afraid of the man, grew to love his method of teaching, giving focus to not one but all three visual, auditory, and hands of learning. They also, kind of sorta, may have enjoyed teasing him and pranking the man until he blew a gasket. He has been working at the schoolyard for 2 years now.

Weapon:
Nothing of note. Having lived in Bellus his whole life and rarely ever leaving, he never trained to use a weapon. Perhaps he could just beat someone over the head with a thick book instead?

Other:
The reason he keeps his hair long is that his grandma would often tease him that he looked so much like Delila when she was younger. While he hated the thought of looking like a girl growing up, he soon relished the fact that he looked like his mother. He clung to that connection and doesn’t want to let it go.

Jun (seojh1029) 1.jpg
Name
Atua Yd

Age
24

Gender
Female

Appearance
Underneath her clothes, Atua is about 85kg of lean muscle and clocks in at about 175cm tall. Despite being considered a foreigner by most, her features are indicative of the region -- given the right styling and apparel, she could easily blend in with other Salos Kingdom natives. Her hair is a dark brown close to black, with her eyes a few shades lighter. Her locks are often let loose by preference, but given the opportunity she will tie it up before going hunting or engaging in some other physically demanding task. Not much sun breaks through the cold valleys, and the weather encourages heavier wear, lending to her lighter complexion.

She only has her one set of clothes; a thick, earthy dress embroidered with triangular patterns, a sleeveless faded yellow tunic and wooly pants underneath, her leather gloves and boots, and her scarf. Repeated use, nicks, tears, and washing has left these garbs looking worse for wear, but she wears it proudly nevertheless.

Personality
Once quite boisterous and raucous with laughter, she has since lost some sparks following the loss of her family and her community. Still, she is quite amiable, if rather soft-spoken at times. Her mischievous nature has not entirely left her either, often surprising others with her sense of humor. Atua prefers to do rather than to speak, which on occasion has caused problems or miscommunication with the people of Salos -- something she has wizened to over time, though old habits are tough to break.

She keeps the darkness of her past close to her and does not open up easily, but is otherwise always seeking answers surrounding the events that transpired around it.

Background
Atua hails from a region which straddles the north-east border of Salos, from a people who neither swore their allegiance to nor involved themselves with the kingdom which ruled over it. And, for a time, she lived a quiet life in the mountains, hunting, gathering, and fighting with her siblings. But they were well within reach of their neighbor's growing unrest -- soldiers marched on their land, claiming it as a foothold for the kingdom before rival nations could encroach the territory.

In a matter of weeks, they had been entirely displaced from their homes. On one hand, Atua was relieved that it resolved without bloodshed, save a few foolhardy souls. Nothing was more important to her than the safety of her community. But on the other hand...

***

In the years that followed, disagreements rising from difficulties in placing new roots caused Atua's family, among others, to split with the rest of her people; something she would always harbor as a grave, grave mistake. The first to go were her mother and younger brother, after being exposed to new illnesses upon prolonged contact with the locals. Then her father, who simply vanished one day in the middle of the night, never to appear again. Finally, her two sisters who grievously injured one another when they opened old wounds arguing about what they should have done the fateful night they were forced from their village.

Now she finds herself alone, trying to make sense of it all.

Weapon
Atua used to own a personalized bow and knife for hunting, handcrafted and gifted to her by her family for her ninth birthday. They have since been forfeited as prizes to the knightly vassals who oversaw the colonial seizure of her home.

Other
Though she is quite handy with a weapon, she is actually most skilled in hand-to-hand, having spent a bulk of her childhood wrestling for fun -- both people and animals. She is also an experienced butcher, carver, navigator, and chef. Just don't ask her to do math.

LieutyXII LieutyXII and GummyWorm GummyWorm both of your characters are great! And accepted! I will update the Opening Post with a list of all the accepted characters, towards the bottom :)

Just a note to everyone: I am going on vacation starting tomorrow until about next Thursday (so 6 days). I will still try to check up on the thread when I can, but I will start the actual roleplay thread when I get back!

Name
Mutt (Sidney Finch - Lesser known)

Age
27 years old

Gender
Male

Appearance
E066E62E-488A-48BE-A61C-1CC044D90A8A.jpeg
**general appearance, more tattoos around his neck and over his eye-art is certainly not mine**
To get the basics down, Mutt is a whopping 5’9” tall and is a bit skinnier that your average bloke. Though, he does have a bit more flesh on his bones compared to most residents of The Willows.

Mutt has bright blue eyes that contrast strangely with shaggy black hair reaching just above his shoulders, not well cut at all. In fact, it looks more like somebody took some shears and lopped it off at some point, so the ends are uneven and different lengths. To keep it out of his eyes, he sometimes pulles half of it up into a ponytail at the back but rarely can be bothered.

There’s almost always some form of scruff on his chin, though, surprisingly—he takes more care to keep that in check. There’s a rough around the edges handsomeness to his face, a smile you can’t help but distrust even if he’s telling the truth.

He’s often known around the streets for the dark tattoo that wraps around the length of his neck. To those privy to the dealings of the underworld, they’d know exactly what the tattoo meant. If not, it would just seem like a particularly gaudy piece of art depicting a twisted coil of barbs and wires.

He has a smattering of other tattoos here and there, the only other visible one being three small X’s above his left eyebrow. But the others aren’t visible under the clothes Mutt typically wears. Long coats and loose sleeves designed to carry an assortment of contraband from place to place. A pewter watch chain that hangs out of his chest pocket. Fingerless wool gloves.

Personality
If anybody were to ask around to see what kind of a man Mutt was, they’d all say the same. A good kid caught up in the wrong crowd.

Mutt is a laid back, easy going kind of guy with a more or less hands off attitude about life. If you don’t fuck with him, he won’t fuck with you. If you scratch his back, he’ll scratch yours. He’s never been a fighter. He doesn’t have a hot enough head for it. Rather, Mutt’s a bit of a thinker more than anything else. He’s got a keen eye for deception, able to gain insight off another’s intentions based off a look, and talk his way out of most situations.

But if pressed, Mutt can turn into a pretty mean son of a bitch. The streets will do that with anybody no matter how sweet they used to be.

Otherwise, he likes to joke around with people, but you’d get the sense that he uses humor as a way to disguise a much more somber reality. In a fight, he’ll use his wits and his charm to try and get a way out of it. Or just… hide in a dark corner and throw in a few cheap shots. Running is good too!

He doesn’t have big opinions on the war, finding that he belongs in a bit of a forgotten slice of society. Certainly no King of his has gone and scratched his back or the people he looks after. But he’s of the belief that if a system isn’t broken, don’t fix it. The last thing he wants is for his world to get shaken up by powers even bigger than the ones in the Undercity.

On that point, Mutt remains mostly neutral. He will seize an opportunity he views as beneficial for himself. It’s a dog eat dog world out there, and he finds it pretty hard to trust outside of a chosen few. And even those few in his circle have been known to sell people out if the Gold talks.

Outside of what his life experience has done to his personality, Mutt is a conscientious man. He can be caring and giving. He has a soft spot for children in need, and often makes his way to the Willows Orphanage to make rounds and tell extravagant lies and stories about all his brave adventures.

Last of all, he’s not a very… romantic person. Things like that make him easily flustered, but both men and women have been known to catch his eye before. Not that he’d ever reach out… “I mean, have you seen me? When am I not covered in dirt?” He’ll toss around with somebody every now and again, but his life has never paved any real foundation for an honest relationship.

Background
Childhood: Mutt—or as he was called back then, Sidney—was the son of a widow who tried her best to raise two kids on the streets of the Willows. She was always sure to drive in lessons on morality, compassion for those in need, honesty. She was strict and loving. But she had no husband or property to her name. After losing her second child—Sid’s little brother—to a nasty fever, she took to selling herself for money as many women were hard pressed to turn to. Her disappearance was… unexpected and unexplained. No Crown’s Guard seemed to consider it a mystery what happened to a young woman alone in her line of work. So no investigation was ever done, and no trace was ever found.

Sidney was seven when a man in a large coat and dark hood found him nearly starved in an alley, skin and bones. The taste of death on his tongue. He took Sidney in, fattened him up a little, then introduced him to the House of Dogs [completely changeable, was just throwing a name out for a criminal organization/guild].

Adolescence: Taking on the street name Mutt, he learned how to make his way around the city without raising much of a brow. He was a cute kid, all things considered. The residents of the Willows never had any issue from him. Many had known him and his mother from the beginning.

Using this sort of natural charisma, he was able to sell a number of illegal contraband. Most of which was a drug called Salva. Doing this, he steadily learned over time how to better read people’s intentions, sneak around guards and nosy townsfolk, and pick up a bit of sleight of hand along the way.

Things were honestly looking up for him for a long time. He was gaining trust in the Undercity dealings. He never gained much attention from guards. He recieved high praise from his mentor, Reaves, the man who brought him in. And his reputation in the Underworld was gaining traction. This wasn’t to say his adolescence wasn’t without danger. Addicts came with their own dangers. There was competition within the organization. He was still considered a runt, so he often had to fight tooth and nail not to get taken advantage of. More often than not, he was left beaten and bloody in some alley after arguments about cuts and earnings.

But things never quite darkened as much as they did until Mutt was in his late teens.

Adulthood: Success guaranteed attention. A mentor being passed up by his chosen protege meant the wrong attention. For years, Mutt and the man he viewed as a father figure, had worked together, lived together, shared money and stories. Mutt never saw it coming.

He never saw it coming when Reaves ran off with 15,000 Gold’s worth of Salva and pinned the debt on his ‘adopted son’.

Mutt was eighteen when a man he’d never met before dragged him into a dark room and locked the door. To this day, nobody but Mutt and his old but newly acquainted boss knows what was discussed. Just that Mutt went in. And Mutt came out, his neck branded by dark tattoos that practically blotted out the skin around his neck.

From that point onwards, Mutt recieved special services and recourses, courtesy of the Man of the House. His personal network grew twice in size. And every secret learned, every skill gained, was henceforth seen as a gift from the faceless man who ran the Undercity. People who used to trust Mutt now gave him a wide berth. He lost old companions. Grew weary and distrustful in isolation from his peers. He became somewhat of shadow, dealing more in information that he gained through his little chunk of the Salva trade.

But no matter how successful he got, that feeling around his neck just kept getting tighter and tighter. This was never what he wanted. He’d only started this to get by and make a living, but it wasn’t up to him any longer.

Needless to say, he’s devoted the last few years of his life trying to find a way to loosen that collar.

Weapon
Mutt was never a fighter. He did pick up some hand-to-hand in defense. But if he had to use something, he’d go in close with a pair of daggers or short swords—both hands. Silent and deadly. Wouldn’t be the first time he’s had to get his hands dirty because of that tattoo on his neck.

Hasan’s fists.

Other
He has a hard time reading. It’s always blurry and it gives him headaches. Be pretty nice if somebody pointed out he might just need a pair of glasses.

Name
"Acolyte" Rowan Fellswyl.

Age
Twenty-six

Gender
Female

Appearance
(art by AnnaShoemaker on DeviantArt)
Of broad shoulder and wide hips, Rowan boasts a formidable build. More than a few years back she could hold her own, but minimal activity these days has softened her muscle. She is below average in women's height, bordering on looking quite squat combined with her frame. The palms of her small hands still hold their calluses, and her fingers are somewhat pudgy as she so compares to the other acolytes. Rowan's skin holds many scars, healed finally after so many years, and her shoulders and arms are freckled. Her most prominent scar is on her face, a disturbing puckering of flesh lateral to her left eye. This is rarely seen, as with her career she tends to wear a veil at all hours, or at least while in prayer. Rowan prefers to keep it over her face anyway, not wanting to alert or call alarm to whatever incident did cause such a marring.

Vibrant green eyes stay hidden behind this veil, and a long mane of red is often braided away and tucked under the collar of her dress. Her brows are thick, often furrowed, though they are not foreign to raising in procession to smiles lifting her face. Rowan smiles, and she loves to do so. Passing blessings and well wishes to others is so notably genuine on her face, a single dimple tending to crease on the right side of her mouth.

Rarely is the woman seen outside of her acolyte's garb. A swath of white, veil and dress, the sleeves bell around the wrist and the trim falls just shy of her ankles. Ordained in simple jewelry, all within an acolyte's uniform, Rowan wears no precious ornaments otherwise. Her shoes are very basic leather sandals, though Rowan tends to nurse blisters on the edges of her feet from the rubbing of the narrow shoes. She holds no real scent, save for her own sweat, though there is the slightest air of honeysuckle. Rowan also tends to carry a small bag with her, a book-bag for one and a smaller pouch with writing utensils and some herbs.

Though, truly, if she is seen outside of her uniform-- it is a simple, brown dress. Nothing less and nothing more.

Personality
Despite all odds, Rowan holds warmth and positivity within her. Diplomatic and genial, the acolyte is well known among her peers for being best to hold company with. Always looking to the bright side, and quick to find sympathetic words, it is almost perfection to the degree that she is able to relate to others. A humble and empathetic heart, Rowan knows and feels as much as she is able to others condition. All of this is practiced, however; an ornament to the machinations within. Truth be told, Rowan is rather bold. Every inaction is fraught with an inner battle, wondering the best way to simply confront. She likes being on the offensive, even if it is with the sweetest words and charismatic attempts to dismantle her opponent. Quiet is chaos to Rowan, preferring busy city streets to solitary contemplation. Understanding others compels her more than simple appreciation, and she will seek whatever means in order to gain perspective. Curiosity is rife within the woman, and each day that she continues to hold such a docile facade among others is another day that she suffers so deeply.

Though, in part, she believes this suffering to be worthy. While appearing outwardly sensitive and sweet, it is not all a lie-- and she does care for what she deems is good. These can change at a whim, but an underlying current holds fast: safety for her and her own. Every choice thus far in her life has been for personal satisfaction and security, despite the circumstances never being perfect. Wanting to stand up for what is right is one thing, but feeling the sharp slice of a blade in consequence? Not even that is worth it.

Family she holds close, though friends are few and far to admit to. Vulnerability is still a sore point in Rowan, and her attempts at relating to others often fall under one of two performances: a well maintained dance to encourage them to open up instead of her, or boundless lies to fill the silence. They are harmless lies, usually, but every attempt to gauge the truth out of her is strangely met with a combative grin.

All of it is to avoid the pain, and whether it be emotional or physical, she would much rather run and hide. A greater purpose, maybe, would find a way through that defense mechanism.

Above all, she has found a curious relationship with religion. Sensitivities that she has never confronted before have been met, and despite her rather cowardly actions otherwise, she does wish to build her faith. If she cannot hold strength in anyone around her, she can find it in faith.

Background
Rowan was born not knowing her mother, and having only a brother and a father to call family. They lived farther north, in a small city that straddled the border between kingdom claimed and wilderness. Her brother, Alwyn, was a fierce protector of his younger sister. Their father, a butcher, was a harsh and miserable man. For reasons unknown to the two, their father made it clear that he had no care for his children. Rowan and Alwyn were often on the streets, begging and looting where they could. In no time they made a name for themselves, often on the wrong side of the city guards, but cared for by their neighbours. Scraps were given here and there, whispers of pity for the poor children, but nobody really did anything.

This continued for some years, the two coming into their own persons. While Rowan did her best to be more of a leader to her brother, he seemed keen to prevent that. He was taller, stronger, and swayed against letting her make decisions for them. Reduced to a grumbling voice in the background, Rowan was best utilised for Alwyn to bounce ideas off of. He'd been the one to suggest they start getting into petty thievery, or even contract work if they'd had the chance. Rowan had complained once, and only once, before agreeing as well. They started meeting with the blacksmith in town, a widow with biceps bigger than their heads, who gave them basic lessons in return for them working at her shop. They obliged, though it was mostly Rowan covering for Alwyn when he went out, meeting with whatever nature of people that he could. He'd return with pockets full of food and small trinkets, and he'd never answer where he got them.

Spending most of her time with the widow, Rowan got her own personal lessons. Reading, for one. While Alwyn was out doing whatever unsavoury dealings, Rowan was reading by firelight, enjoying the stories she could tell in her own mind.

By the time Rowan was fourteen these divergent paths returned, and had Rowan stayed with the widow in the city, she would have been someone else entirely. Yet, it was Alwyn's late night ramblings, talking about good work he'd gotten for them, that managed to pull her from a path of docility. Perhaps she should have said no, but her brother was insistent and made it clear he'd go alone if she didn't go with him. So, she did, bidding the widow goodbye. Alwyn spoke of a caravan he'd managed to convince to let them join the guard for. Enough coin later, shoving a sword he'd stolen from the widow into Rowan's hand, they were on the road out of the city. He cut her hair in the dark, mere moments before they left. She hated the way it brushed against the top of her ears.

It was simply the beginning, and the road was a rough one. Both of the siblings hardened, confronted with the harshness of the landscape. Brutal hands met brutal minds, and they were scarred and bruised before they could develop the weathering to manage it. Every night Alwyn tried to soothe their worries, saying again and again that it was the way people had to live, that it would all work out in the end. Jobs ran for months, overlapping with other gigs he'd book for them. Eventually the work turned from mere guarding to actual confrontations. Blade to blade, shedding blood and dignity, Alwyn continued to try and justify it.

Eventually, the two got so deep that they didn't know the way out. Alwyn was a fiercer fighter than Rowan, and she proved more of a support. Her skills that she had been taught by the widow proved useful, but more than once she'd get roped into a fight that she wanted nothing to do with. It became second nature, to the point that passivity was no longer an option. There was no longer a need to justify their actions. They simply did as they were told. Sneaking into homes to dispatch of men and women that Rowan sometimes never even saw the face of.

They were blades, and having grown up as mere contracts, they behaved as such. As tension broke out and war became normal, work barely changed for them. Their objectives, however, became quite involved. Passing messages, stealing supplies-- they were bonafide revolutionaries before they knew it.

Though, it was one job that went horribly wrong that forced Rowan to abandon everything. They were to infiltrate a wealthy home, supposedly empty, and come out with whatever goods they could hold. The information must have been wrong, however, as the home was very much not empty. Alwyn was cut down in mere moments, and Rowan slashed in the face and left for dead. She'd passed out, and by the time she woke up, her brother was dead and they were on the back of a wagon heading to... somewhere.

She escaped unnoticed, but the blood covering her eyes and pain in her heart led her blind. She traveled for a day, hoping she would not die before she found civilization. Bellus, as it was, came to her sights. Taken in with pity by two of the priests from within the city, who had been traveling back, she was cleaned and cloaked to avoid attention. Rowan feigned ignorance, deciding there and then what she needed to do. Seeking shelter and purpose, the priests took her in.

That was six months ago, and Acolyte Rowan thinks not of the past.

Weapon
Despite her checkered past, Rowan holds no weapons within the clergy. She is only slightly proficient in wielding a blade, more comfortable with a dagger than anything.

Other
She carries a copy of the book of Creation with her, her first manuscript she'd done, and a small pouch of herbs and writing utensils.

The Heavenbound Chaser, 'Facer', 'Dizzy'
She/Her | 22yrs | 5'9" | 145lbs | Black Hair | Green Eyes | Tan Skin
Human | Aerial/Acrobat/Dancer | Lesbian (Closet) | Toned, Athletic build.

This is The Chaser...

~Looks:

Princess-Dancer.jpg

Style:
Drab coloured, plainly styled wear so as to not attract attention to herself yet made of high quality. Veils, cloaks and shawls of all kinds to shroud her face and skin from fans and suitors whilst out in public. Not one for precious metals and gems since they weigh her down, she does understand importance of their eye-catching appeal... but turns her nose if given the chance to wear them. The only exception is the copper ring on her toe with stars and a moon upon it. DeZhay, of course loves her vivacious, colourful and tight, revealing outfits and headwear. Her brother of course would never allow her to be seen as such out of performance times. In private, she is free to adorn and wear what and how she pleases. Her bff 'handmaiden' however is always stationed with her and is ready to cover her up from head to toe in a heartbeat. The young lady prefers to traipse around barefoot but can easily be coaxed to wear stylish and pretty footwear quite readily. Needless to say, she achingly waits for even dress rehearsal so she may wear the bright, elabourate or even revealing costumes/gear she loves so much. She becomes like a giddy, giggling little girl whenever its time to go, go Let's GOOOOOOOOO!!

Cosmetic:
The signature features of her face are always attended to and accented. Her vibrant, gem-like green eyes must stand out and her infections bright smile must always be properly framed everytime she flashes that grin. She has dark, dark hair that is always adorned with some kind of trinket or bauble and extensions and weaves are stitched in when needed. The young woman always prefers not getting 'dolled up' and detestes wearing such troublesome paint or wigs; "Don't sweat it off!! Don't snap your head too fast!!" is all she hears and is soooooo over it. Why can't people enjoy only her shows of physical prowess and skill? It's not as if her hair and eyes just did a double twist dead dropfall into a lock knot and instantly fired an arrow a heartbeat later at a target some 100 ft below her!!

~Acts:

+ Chatty, Playful and Witty
+ Considerate, Team-Player, Family-Oriented
+ Driven, Quick Learner, and Hard-working
+ Daring, Confident and Pushes herself
+ Tough, Resilient, Athletic

- Soft hearted, easily taken in by fans and charity cases
- No concept of monetary value; gives it away or spends it frivolously
- Perfectionist, Worst Self-critic, Over-dependancy on her little brother
- Daring, Overconfident and Pushes beyond her capabilities
- Non-violent, Daydreamy, In the Closet

Trivia:

  • Does not know that her last name is Chea-Soeur and does not remember her fully given name is Desarae Zhaynetta. All adopted of the Collective state 'dalji' and their adoptive parent's last name prior to their first name. Which translates to 'Child of {family name}' to denote her adopted/non-blood related status. So she only knows and formally introduces herself as: dalji arMadara DeZhay.
  • Nicknamed 'Dizzy' by her 'handmaiden'/bff KiKina and her bro cuz whenever the acrobat girl hit the ground hard, they would ask, "Are you okay?! Are you hurt?! How are you?!" and DeZhay would answer, "Dizzy... just a little bit. All good. Let's go again...!"
  • The 'Facer' was a half-mocking nickname given to her by her troupe mates. A play on her 'Chaser' nick and the fact that her face was painted all over wagon sides and banners. She actually likes it and tbh she finds it flattering.
  • DeZhay has secretly kept a kerchief with a fancy cursive letter 'C' upon it. It belonged to her first love; the amazing sweetness and lovely Northern royal, Callei. DeZhay dreams about the day she will meet up with her so they may have a chance to be together again. DeZhay vows to make it up to her and love her entirely in the open if given that chance this time around.
  • 'Hope,' the first bow she ever crafted herself and first used in an aerial perfomance is retired and displayed in her wagon. Current bow is called 'Cherry' named after her archery mentor, Ms. Cherish.
  • She has never killed with her bow, not even shot a living thing... not even a rodent. Only fruits and veggies thrown or rolled sufficed as fast moving targets and she would shoot them down with ease.
  • Then there were those times that her little bro tried to take her hunting... DeZhay just froze and was a trembling, crying nervous wreck for a couple days afterwards even though she completely missed her marks. Jincarda stopped those excursion right quick and forbid MaKhi or anyone else to ever take DeZhay hunting. She was not a hunter, no, she was mother's prized 'Chaser' afterall.
  • Both she and KiKina have a matching ring that denotes they are bffs.
  • Great role-model/mentor to the younger members of the Collective, but a bit too soft on them. Actually both she and her bro are crushing hard on the same older teen girl but have not told each other.
  • Amazing dancer. Even better acrobat. Devastatingly accurate archer. But can't sing... don't let her nor encourage her. Please.
  • All performers and stage hands of the Collective go through hypnosis training to help keep them focussed and confident.

~Bio:

princess-Archer.jpg

  • DeZhay is of mixed blood; her features are hard to pinpoint from which bloodlines she and her bro are from. Known for her dazzling green eyes and bright smile.
  • Her little brother, MaKhi and she were adopted when they were 4 and 6 respectively by Jincarda arMadara. She is the owner and matriarch of The alMadara Entertainment Collective. A mobile perfomance circus of sorts that toured across continent from small village to grand city. They are known for their mind-blowing skill, dazzling displays and mastery of the arts: dancers, muscians, acrobats and entertainers of all kinds.
  • Groomed and trained to be a dancer at a young age with hopes of becoming a fully realized acrobat one day. But not only did the girl blossom instantly into an amazing dancer, she was featured as a child acrobat in a few acts before age 10. That and she also had another undiscovered talent; the girl was a natural hawk-eyed deadshot with the bow. Her brother was groomed and trained to become her 'handler' and protector, other than that his biggest skill was finding a way to get done whatever was asked of him; the boy was clever, strong and resourceful.
  • Soon enough DeZhay became known for her featured act; "Can You Outshoot A Little 12 Year Old Girlie?" Full grown men and women would put their money where their mouth was and try to outdo the sniper pre-teen. This became a huge draw for the betting crowd and bookies that set odds and payouts for these little competitions vs the 'Little Chaser'. The name 'Huntress' was tried at first, but they found that the name 'Chaser' was better received, more elegant and marketable.
  • As a teenager, all that promise and potential as a girl was realized as she grew into her body and became a full blown acrobat that could literally hang with the adults in the troupe. Her competitive spirit and push by adoptive mom, Jincarda had her doing aerial acts with her bow. DeZhay absolutely slayed the first night she performed doing both and soon enough word spread like wild fire about this 'heavenly creature' shooting arrows from the sky. The name stuck and morphed. The troupe that worked in with her act became known as 'The Angellics' and she was 'The Heavenbound Chaser.'
  • 'Patrons of the Arts' began to donate gifts and meals to their favourite performers in exchange for private lunch/dinner dates with said performers. The donations were huge profits for arMadara. And although the matriarch was a sleazy business woman, even she was not that sleazy. Each private session always had a chaperone present to make sure all too casual touches and presses stayed in safe boundaries and respectful manners. These were Jincarda's investments and damaging her goods, even bruising them was not good for business. The investments needed to know that matriarch's 'love' for them meant keeping them safe from harm always.
  • DeZhay was fine with entertaining the patrons, even though some tried to become her suitors. Her bro MaKhi was a couple years younger than she but filled out into a tall and muscular young man and so she felt safe and encouraged by his words and presence. And though she did feel bad that she was essentially leading the patrons on, she continued the 'performances.' But still she felt hollow and empty. She was young and craved romance too!
  • Then came the day she was taken in by that one simple yet sweet royal. So many others cared and valued what she looked like and what she could do alone. None before had ever been taken by who she was. Except for this one... she was in love with Callei, the wonderful daughter of a royal Prince of the North. And yes, she was loved back in return!!
  • It was but not even a month in when the royal Prince found his daughter and the dancer bedded together. He savagely beat his daughter on the spot. DeZhay was apprehended and the same fate would befall her. But her whipping would be in the royal public square the next day.
  • But that day never came to be. Jincarda had paid a hefty, hefty, hefty donation to keep even a single finger from being lain upon DeZhay and to have 'the incident' washed clean away. The young woman and her little brother loved and trusted their adoptive mother that much more when they found out what Jincarda had given up to protect her adopted daughter. But it was not mothery love that saved her daughter. No, it was a calculated business decision. The money paid out would easily be recovered before the year was over by the profits from the crowds and suitors brought in by DeZhay, the Heavenbound Chaser alone.
  • Both her bff handmaiden, Kikina and her bro, MaKhi were explicitly told by Jincarda to constantly harp on DeZhay to keep her focus, push down that carnal desire, lest another 'incident' become a detriment or even dangerous predicament for her entire family of performers. DeZhay bought in and never allowed her true self to ever be drawn out since that day.
  • But with the war on the rise, she will never get the chance to visit the North again. In fact, this is Jincarda's last arMadara Entertainment Collective tour. She knows that the war is imminent and is trying to squeeze out the last coins she can from this countryside. Then when all is said and done, she will find herself on the coast sailing away aboard her ship. All her accumalated riches will be waiting for her on the island she purchased a few years ago. Always ahead of the game, she was prepared should such disaster befall her beloved business venture.
  • The whole entire body of the Collective may or may not know of Jincarda's ultimate plan, but many would care not. Despite being a shrewd and calculating sleazy business woman, she has never mistreated nor ever disrespected them. The performers will continue 110% doing what they live for until the rebels and the royals clash and war ends their run. Only then when the two sides destroy what they have always known and always loved will they give in and disband.

Weapon:
  • Bow and Arrows - she is a natural at archery and a deadshot. She is 99% accurate from within 30ft range. Beyond that she will still hit targets moving or not. She has been trained to craft her own bow and arrows, weighted and custom to her size, strength and style. Her mentor, Ms. Cherish even taught her how to make whistling arrows that were still trued and hit accurately.

Style:
Dark leathers, lightly armoured, cowled cloak and combat boots. Unlike her ward, DeZhay, she does not enjoy wearing bright and vivacious colours nor does she feel the need to accessorize with fancy and lavish jewellry. She does however wear a single piece of jewelry; a copper band upon her left ring finger that bears stars and moons upon it. Other than that, the young woman dresses to not stand out and prefers to fade into the background. Yet once noticed, if she should step forward, her imposing frame and posture would represent her dangerous nature all at once. She conceals multiple thrown weapons banded and easily accessed across her body. But in particular are hidden along the length of her forearms and give her garb that familiar extra protrusion at the elbows; a pair of custom blades she knows as Rain and Wicked. When it is 'Time to Bite' she will pull her signature black mask over her face and her demeanour becomes like that of a rabid attack dog.

Scars, Tats, Piercings:
Of the multiple scars upon her, the most notable are the ones that runs down the left side of her cheek and a prominent one just above the left side of her top lip. She bears these with pride for these represent the two times she put her life on the line to protect her bestfriend, DeZhay. She bears tattoos with the name of her adoptive mother, the arMadara logo, and a moon with several stars around it. She does have her ears pierced but only wears jewelry in them during formal presentations or processions. Only wears make up when DeZhay puts it on her for fun.

+ Patient, Reserved and Watchful

+ Steel-Nerved, Quick Reactor, and Resilient
+ Confident, Hard-Working, Adores children

- Poor communicator/standoffish to anyone not her mother nor DeZhay.
- Rigid, Does not listen to anyone else's word other than her Superiors
- Inferiority Complex, Fight First Mentality, Job is Her Life.
- Aggressive, Hates Social Gatherings, Disdains Rich Folk
- Buries emotions, soooooo in love with her bff DeZhay but may never act upon it.

Trivia:

  • Does not know that her last name is Riosvillio and does not remember her fully given name is Kishi Kinamar. All adopted of the Collective state 'dalji' and their adoptive parent's last name prior to their first name. Which translates to 'Child of {family name}' to denote her adopted/non-blood related status. So she only knows and formally introduces herself as: dalji Nozaroc KiKina.
  • Nicknamed 'Kicks' by her ward and bff DeZhay cuz when they were kids they bunked together in the same bed and KiKina would kick DeZhay in her sleep. Petname is 'Kia' by her adoptive mother Ms. Cherish and the younger performers overheard and kept calling her that and it stuck. Others mock her by calling her 'Chaser's Dog.'
  • KiKina is forbidden to be sexually active and may not bear any children lest that compromise her position to protect her 'Diamond,' DeZhay. This has been ingrained in her. She herself is a closeted lesbian and desperately in love with DeZhay but duty trumps her emotions as always.
  • Trained personally by her adoptive mother, Ms. Cherish yet despite love and praise, she feels like she is never good enough for her mother although she excells at 'the handmaiden craft.'
  • Has a very murderous and violent rage in her but has never been seen by any in the Collective save only a handful. Her love and happiness generated for the younger performers and her bff keep her in line.
  • Has a bit of a love/hate rivalry with MaKhi due to their differing philosophy of how best to care for DeZhay despite both understanding and respecting that they both want the best for her.
  • Does not like 'girlie' things but secretly she does like how she looks whenever DeZhay fools around and dresses her up and puts make up on her face like a performer for fun
  • Both she and KiKina have a matching ring that denotes they are bffs.
  • Not one with the 'x-factor' for performing but actually has a very nice singing voice.
  • Like all performers and stage hands of the Collective she too goes through hypnosis training to help maintain focus and confidence.

~Bio:

  • KiKina is most likely from the people of the sands. Her facial features and especially the grey-blue 'steel' eyes are a good indication.
  • She was adopted at age 8 by Ms. Cherish Nozaroc, the weapons and security Mother of the arMadara Collective. At even such a young age, the girl was fiesty and combative.
  • Groomed and trained to be a fighter and protector for the Collective. But as soon as it was discovered that the other girl her age, DeZhay could be 'Marquee Talent' level and that they were fast best friends, KiKina was ingrained to become a 'handmaiden', lifelong protector for the other girl.
  • One thing that needed to be broken was the violent streak and anger within her that too often flared up. And so she went through mental reparation and pseudo-brain washing by Ms. Miri aka Grand-Aunt Mir, Seer of the Silvery Mists. She was reformed and re-invented into more of a machined tool than a wild girl and KiKina fell in line nicely.
  • As a teenager, that which she had become finally was put to the test when, still a budding star, DeZhay was nearly kidnapped along with 3 other young children. It was here where she unleashed bloody red fury upon the would be abductors and witnessed first hand by DeZhay and the children. The girl was a vicious predator and a natural born killer. But it was here too where she finally realized how much she loved her 'family of the Collective,' esp. the younger ones and to what lengths she would go to protect them. And the one she loved the most. It was here where she finally admitted to herself the true nature of her love and desire for another female; her bff DeZhay. The scar upon her cheek would remain the constant reminder that she may never, ever act upon such a thing. She was a 'handmaiden' first and foremost; the most important thing was to care for the 'Diamond.'
  • She, like all the other handmaidens and handlermen, developed a heavy disdain, hate even, for those patrons that gave gifts and paid for time with the performers. She herself was never allowed to chaperone DeZhay due to the obvious dagger-throwing scowl and sharp-toothed sneer present upon her face whenever DeZhay would 'date' a patron. It became her rival MaKhi's job to watch over his older sister in such occasions and that just scalded her that much more.
  • Once more she was beset upon protecting DeZhay, but this time unarmed against 3 potential assailants that tried to sexually assault her ward after a show. KiKina was badly beaten and had the scar above her lip to prove it but she ferociously fought the 3 off. Others that had seen the fight witnessed her even biting and tearing into their faces with her teeth. The 3 were 'dealt with' by order of Jincarda and KiKina does not remember but she was there to 'aid' in such a situation. It was here where she soon became known as 'Chaser's Dog' and outsiders stayed far away from her.
  • Then came the day DeZhay fell in love with another girl. This absolutely crushed KiKina having to bear witness to that which she desperately craved all her life. And if course the love of her ward fell upon a rich royal no less! How it killed her to know full well what happened behind closed doors. And oh how deliciously vindicated she was when the pair of lovebirds had been caught and the royal beaten by her own Princely father in front of DeZhay.
  • During this tumultuous time, the rivalry between she and MaKhi spilled over and they came to blows. MaKhi was undoubtedly the stronger of the two, however, KiKina was the more skilled. After 2 bouts of fisticuffs, the 3rd time, the weapons were drawn. Ms. Cherish and Matriarch Jincarda stepped in and spared both the bloodshed... and perhaps spared MaKhi's life too. Jincarda admitted to both that a 'grand donation' to the Prince would make this all go away and that gone away too should be their silly feud. Both agreed.
  • Of course she was happy that DeZhay was let off the hook but even happier when Mama Jin personally told her to entrust it never happen again. She was given full consent to constantly remind DeZhay of consequences of such undue and selfish 'activities.' Once more DeZhay was hers alone. And shortly thereafter the strained relationship between she and MaKhi began to heal with both beset on keeping DeZhay on the 'straight and narrow.'
  • But now that war is told to be coming soon and will forever change the landscape of their livelihood, KiKina is worried. Upon disbanding what will become of her usefulness and status? Yes, she will continue to protect her 'Diamond,' but what of the rest of the Collective? Yes, she does not get along with the majority, but she still loves them (even DeZhay's new crush) and does not wish them ill in the very least.
  • Her mother says that she will figure something out, but KiKina knows that her mother has no plan; if one thing is true, Ms. Cherish always lays out her plans with not just prep for one scenario but several all at once. Regarding the end of the arMadara Entertainment Collective, Ms. Cherish had laid out not one single solution yet.

Weapon:
  • Short and Throwing Blades - she has been trained by her mother Ms. Cherish herself and so she is proficient with multiple types of weaponry and fighting styles. Her weapons focus however are upon small, concealable, hand-held, thrown blades and a fighting style utilizing a short blade in either hand.

(All Art Work from: Beware the Villioness! Author: Soda Ice, Illustrator: Blue Canna)

Kaila has straight, waist-length, auburn hair, and sharp light green eyes. She has an angular face, pale skin, and a rather athletic build. Kaila often wears an expression of slight annoyance, stoic displeasure, or apathetic indifference. Her appearance is often compared to a lioness by her friends and acquaintances. She most often wears elaborate dresses with jewelry, scarlet and ruby being her preferred colors. On rare occasion of travel or unusual events, she will wear simpler clothes; pants, shirt, and possibly a hood.

Kaila is taller than most of her female peers at 177cm. Her weight is usually around 64kg, leaving her with a lithe build. Her only physical hardships coming from fencing, horse riding, and hunting; Kaila's skin (notably her hands) are free from scars, blemishes, or roughness. A well maintained and generously paid for supply of skincare products ensures her skin is particularly soft and healthy. With added on perfume from her collection of bottles; it is a rare day anyone would mistake her from anything less than a well-to-do noble.

Personality

Cunning and confident; Kaila approaches most situations as either a thing to be solved and fixed, or a luxury to be enjoyed and indulged. Schooled, trained, and corrected her entire life; Kaila has a deep distaste for incompetence, weakness, or ignorance. She greatly values knowledge and those with the ability to effectively use it. Often she is considered a woman with a hard edge to most things; however she does have a particular soft spot for flowers, small animals, and a small selection of friends. While leaning more towards habits and hobbies of a feminine nature such as tea parties, dress shopping, and arts; she has indulged in masculine hobbies such as fencing, hunting, and even tavern drinking.

Kaila has a particular love of reading stories of grand adventure. As a child her favorite indulgences were reading tales of knights and dragons, listening to the stories visiting knights and mercenaries would tell, or hearing the tall tales from the older town's guardsmen. At an older age she mostly feels her life is boring, often she daydreams about quests for adventure and far off lands of beauty during particularly boring parties or meetings. Despite her far off wishes and dreamlike goals; Kaila is at her heart a realist. She knows her life as a noble girl leaves her with none of the needed skills to thrive outside a city's walls. Her most impressive survival skill being able to make a small campfire (with great struggle.)

Her one far off hope of adventure is developing magic. Though despite an impressive library at her family's home and coin enough to purchase any and all potentially helpful books; Kaila has so far never been able to develop the ability. "Her greatest of failure and incompetence" as she would say and lambast. Despite (or perhaps because) of this failure; Kaila often throws herself into improving or learning some new skill when her frustrations reaches a peak. Fencing, mathematics, or social persuasion/manipulation are often her targets of improvement whenever she fails at magic. These periods of frustration can take a darker side however, as she has been known to be cruel, sadistic, and bullying during these times.

With her abilities, confidence, and her family name behind her back; Kaila has done ill-moral actions during her darker moments. Picking fights with commoners at taverns, cutting and slashing at an already beaten opponent, and manipulating annoying acquaintances to fight against each other on imagined insults. She has a sadistic nature, that while normally controlled, can leak out when she is in a foul mood. Despite her own nature, Kaila cares greatly for friends. Times of need that have come for childhood friends have shown her best nature; self-sacrificing, protective, and filled with righteous fury. She has spent small fortunes to help-out a family's failing business, fought against men twice her size for slapping her friend, and testified against other nobles for particularly cruel crimes against commoners.

Background

Kaila's family history is far more interesting than her own so far. At twenty-two she has done little of interest besides building a reputation as a particularly fierce noble girl. Some of the boasts of her life have been serving as a cup pourer for city council meetings, winning fourth at a fencing tournament, and catching a thief at rapier point for stealing a friend's jewelry. Generally she is well know and mostly respected in the city among nobles and even the commoners. Though she is feared and disliked among more than a few for "overzealous actions" as the town-guards put it.

Her family, "The Luxia" are a well known, old and powerful family in Salos. Starting as a family of warfare; they fought in many battles of renown. Many of Kaila's favorite tales and stories come from feats her own ancestors did. In more modern times however, her family do little fighting themself. Rather supplying arms-and-armor, along with research and development of weapons, keep and siege equipment. The family manor of the Luxia could be confused with a workshop at times, as it is not unusually to see the various parts of newly designed trebuchet strewn about in the courtyard, or the complex parts of a crossbow laying randomly on a dining table.

While various blood relations of the Luxia family are strewn about Salos; the main family resides in Bellus. The main family consists of Kalia's father, mother, older brother, two younger brothers, and some extended family within the city. Her father (Hari Ly Luxia) is the head of the family with her elder brother (Leo Ly Luxia) next in line. Her father is a member of the city council and the face of the family, known for having a rather vicious approach to most of the city's problems. Her elder brother his successor, known for being a skilled and charismatic knight. Her mother (Lissa Melisandre Luxia) is known for being the gentle and kind (and only such) face of the family.

The Luxia have much influence within Bellus. Out of any of the other families with seats on the city council, they have the most influence among the guards and blacksmiths. Much of the rights on the designs of the armor and weapons made in Bellus and uniformed by the guards is owned by the Luxia. This has led to many guards who purchase or need to maintain their equipment in debt to the Luxia. Among most blacksmith a percentage of profits goes to the Luxia for the rights to forge and sell their armor and weapon designs.

With such influence little is too great to influence within the city for the Luxia. Taxes, criminal crackdowns, guard placements and duties, and executions are greatly influence by the Luxia, with only the other council seats keeping them from true ruler-ship over the city and surrounding lands. Being the only daughter of the Luxia; Kalia has significant influence and power within the city, especially among the guards. Though she has little interest in politics or the details of the city's running; as long as her and her friend's general lifestyle and happiness isn't disturbed. In fact she often considers her family's power more of an annoyance than anything; with marriage offers, threats of kidnappings, false friendships, and jealous enemies getting in the way of much of her daily life.

Weapon

Snow Lion (Rapier): A small, well crafted rapier used by Kalia as a status symbol and for self-defense. While ornate and well made, it is no war weapon and would be of little use against someone in proper armor. A strong swing from even a long-sword would likely at least bend, if not snap the blade. Against a poorly armed commoner wearing only flesh or gambeson, it can get the job done.

Other

Her favorite meal is venison. Her favorite cake strawberry, and tea rosemary. Her family has a large manor in the Bunberry District where they reside. They own a few weapon, armor, and black-smithy shops in the Hive District.

  • APPEARANCE

Compromised by a hulking, scarred, and tattooed figure of 6ft tall, Hasan isn't the most inconspicuous of individuals. Albeit, discretion isn't a resounding concern for him yet, thus he strides with the confidence and pride of a man unfettered. He has rich, warm tan skin and a geometric tattoo of what appears to be a snake curling from his shoulder blade down to his forearm. Aside from his athletic build, another impressive feature of Hasan's is his hair. Jet black locks that fall slightly past his hips, ostensibly disheveled despite always pulled into a loose ponytail or braided. He has sharp, light golden eyes and thick eyebrows that hang over them. His style of dress is whatever he can get his hands on, but typically they are loose, breezy fabrics. He's not afraid to accessorize and loves both wearing and examining gaudy or intricately crafted jewelry.

AAH i'm hyped, are we allowed to plot connections between characters beforehand?

Yes sure, I don’t see anything wrong with that - it’s also entirely possible that your characters know each other or have ran into each other at some point throughout their time in the city

Okay! The RP thread is up! Fantasy - Blood & Ruin (The role-play Thread)

Some things to note: I guess your first post can be whatever, it is more like 'setting the mood' kind of post. With that said, you guys are free to interact with each other as you wish. I put a stage in the centre of the marketplace for DeZhay - if you want me to take that out, let me know! Just thought it would help, and of course don't be obligated to use it if you don't want to :)

This first chapter will end, once it's the end of the day. Like I said, this chapter isn't that long and it's moreso just an introduction chapter if anything, for your characters :)

Also, tried to use the Elden Ring Character Creation so make Hainer's face, I think it turned out okay!

I'll have Kaila and one of her friends be in the good seats lol.

I'll hold back for now to see other people's plays. But I'll have a post up tomorrow.

Great opening scene.

Haha thank you! I didn't want to drag out my opening post with anything long-winded, so I opted for a slightly simpler post with some lore!

And that was definitely Hainer taking a jab at possibly Kaila with the noble joke haha

Having that lore transition into the actual scene was very good and skilled. Gave some great background and then finished with a good setting and event for others to join. That's honestly the best opening for an rp I have ever read. And I've seen alot and made a few lol.

Simple and clean.

Loved the posts so far! I will probably get my intro out tomorrow! If anyone wants to interact let me know, otherwise I'll just do an opener :)

Great posts! I’ll also have mine out tomorrow. Also, fantastic idea on making Hainer’s face in Elden Ring. I never would have thought of that!

Yes I am enjoying the posts so far too and looking forward to everyone’s!

And thank you! I was playing around with the game the other day and the idea came to fruitions haha. I’ll add the photo to his SU and maybe if I get around to actually drawing him I’ll use that as a reference photo too.

If anyone needs help with posts let me know :)

Working on my post! It'll probably be up in an hour or two if I don't get distracted again. :]
